Got it free on PS Plus a week after it first came out - first red flag. Controls are slow, aiming is finicky and difficult not to overshoot. You can't dash, and your jump is long and floaty. You can double jump, but that doesn't seem to be useful for anything. Traps are big glaring pieces on the grid-based terrain, and your goal is to trudge through, try to move your cross hair over them, and blow them up one by one. Your staring gun has 2 ammo, and you have to retrieve it from the destroyed traps afterward. You also have grenades - not sure why. You do all this to essentially "capture the flag", a DNA packet you take back to a giant embryo to level it up for in-game currency. You use buy more costumes and such, to look different while you raid in first person. It's a shame, this is a concept that could have been very competitive and exciting. Expand

Great concept, but with a truckload of flaws.

Apart from the painfully slow loading times, the bugs with replays (freezing, crashing), the server issues (can’t log in, stuck at 95% loading) - the game design itself is deeply flawed. Meet Your Maker only rewards maps that cause maximum player death. This has lead to cookie cutter level design by users that are 90% killing floors. Users

Users don’t have to ensure their maps are not impossible to complete, or (mostly) unique, so they are actually incentivised to create boring, repetitive, close to impossible levels. The most popular comment thread in a Reddit AMA with the developers spoke to this exact flaw, and there wasn’t one response from the developers around it. There are other issues around lack of diversity in traps and design capabilities that also lead to boring repetitive levels, an OP grapple, the fact that you can basically run through any level that isn’t a “killing floor”, but they pale in comparison to the “killing floor” issue, so not even worth going into detail.

I love the concept, and was obsessed with it for the first day or two, but after a week of playing I’m done. Without a big fix to core level design incentives this game has no player longevity.

A complete failure off a game.

The fact that the developers decided to release it on both console and pc was borderline retarded and the bases are already getting fewer because people un-installing and leaving this trash. In short, The game is already dying on steam charts and people are leaving in droves. The bases that are left are either killboxes or 30min long labyrinths you have to

If I had payed money for this I would have been furious. Gladly I got it for free on ps+ but its not even worth it beeing free.

Even receiving this game completely free. This game is dreadfully terribly bad. The controls were clunky. Combat is so dreadfully bad it’s mostly luck. The menu system is so dreadfully terribly bad it’s indescribable.

Why is aiming artificially made delayed and laggy with performance mod on but not on resolution mod. Add fov slider like any modern game should have. Also add custom controllers options. Cmon this is just pure lazyness. Simplier lighter game also like this should have 120fps options.

Unbalanced trash. Don’t waste your time. It looks nice and the idea is nice too, but people will just built the most stupid deathtrap rooms you can not complete. And you know what? They dont even have to complete it by themselves. They can just exploit the most fotm combinations and earn stuff while you get rekt all the time. This game is a pile of garbage. The gameplay is so boring and repetitive. The aiming is horrible. This is basically a remake/remaster of Gunscape, but with even less content. The multiplayer is complete trash. It's no wonder why they gave away this boring joke of a game for free at launch to PS Plus subscribers. Who in there right mind would pay $30 for this? Jesus Christ are these developers so out of touch. I don't recommend this game at all, even if you have PS Plus. Look at what happened to that pile of garbage Rumbleverse game. It's not worth investing your time in this game that will have an incredibly short lifespan.

There is a reason this came out new on PS plus. It's the worst game I've tried in a long time.

What was the point of making this rubbish. I played it once and that was enough for me.

A very boring game, if you can get it for free with ps+ then give it a try but if not don't waste your money

Meet Your Maker is now the standard for sandbox experiences in terms of entertainment, ease of use and scalability. This endlessly repayable dungeon raiding and building experience has the friendliness of Minecraft and the aesthetics and gameplay of Doom and it will hook you.

Meet Your Maker is a particularly fun title thanks to the combination of shooting, exploration and construction of the fort. The playful recipe has proved to be fairly varied and never excessively monotonous, although the players' choices are still rather limited. In other words, insiders will have to continue to support the project so that the community can indulge in creating ever more ingenious bunkers and outposts but, more than anything else, capable of claiming countless victims.

Meet Your Maker is a highly addictive first-person shooter/base-building hybrid. Its satisfying gameplay loop is cemented by various progression systems, filling that itch of watching bars and numbers go up at a consistent rate. The tools and systems are in place to allow for creative death traps filled with tons of hair-raising moments and satisfying encounters, further enhanced when playing with a friend. In fact, the community has already made expert use of existing content. Unfortunately, creativity can only take that content so far. Before long, deja vu will become this game’s crutch. Meet Your Maker needs significantly more content across the board to become a sustainable community experience.
