I would recommend buy THIS only if you're a really big fan of first Marvel's Spider-Man game. Don't buy it by fullprice, wait for like 60% discount. Can someone PLEASE explain why this game is so short? Hardly any bosses. I was waiting for at least 10 new villains, but it's clear that they keep them all for Spider-man 2. So they basically had you fight Rhino about million times in this one. Wait for sale if anything.

The gameplay is exactly the same as Spider-Man PS4. When I pay $50 for a new game and buy a new console, I expect improvements. It recycles the same map as the last game. The physics are still a joke. The web slinging is still animation-based rather than physics-based. Miles Morales is a boring character. He is just another Peter Parker with his annoying and corny dialogue. It still has those same Saints Row 4 running animations on walls. It make the game feel like a PS3 game which is extremely outdated for a PS5 game.

The side content is boring in this game. There is nothing worth doing in the open world. Is there any multiplayer to make up for the boring open world? Oh that's right, there is no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, there is not a reason to touch this game again. Charging $50 for a game with no replay value is a cashgrab. I don't recommend this overpriced trash at all. Just wait until it is free on PS Plus.

I was even more surprised when people were complaining that Insomniac didn't take it a step further. If BLM is put on a more broader pedestal in future games than may I make a suggestion about having something in the menu settings to where you can toggle all related material on or off in the video game. This would be a game I would have no problem buying as it would give me a choice whether or not I wanted to see that material or not, but as it stands right now I'm gonna have to watch your games very closely in the future before I commit to them. If this goes unchecked then I probably will not buy no more Insomniac titles which is especially disheartening since I literally was Peter Parker in school & grew up with Marvel. Even if Miles Morales goes free on playstation plus as is, I still will not download it. Whether you approve of the group or you don't, you should be given a choice as to whether or not you want it in your gaming world. Expand

Thé entire game sounds like left propaganda. Even if we feel that the game want to be aimed at Generation Z, you really have to put your brain aside to appreciate it. I haven't played on normal difficulty, but I can say that the game is quite chaotic on hard, although the gameplay is pretty solid. The formula of objects and missions repeated several times and spread all over the map is exhausted. In summary, it's beautiful, but it sounds hollow. It's a beautiful empty shell. A boring technical demonstration, that's all. Is this the fate of all mainstream games that try to address new generations ? If I were giving this review a TLDR Headline it would be: "Should have been a DLC for the base game." I started playing the game late Thursday night, played 2 hours, picked it up again Friday morning, and had the game completely finished with 100% completion (according to the map indicator) by mid-Friday afternoon. 10.5 hours total time. That's how short the game is. Of that time, a good third of it was spent chasing down collectibles. Take the collectible padding out of it and this game is a 5-6 hour campaign, including the side-quests and neighborhood crimes. All I have left is to do a new game+ to clean up trophies, which I'm not feeling particularly motivated to do. Speaking of new game+, it's clear the devs knew this game's length was going to be a problem which is why they locked the final upgrade of every skill and gadget behind a new game+ playthrough.

The game's length would be fine if the campaign had any decently memorable villains or characters like the first game. But it doesn't. The entire story is cliché, ham-handed, and filled to the brim with current event virtue signaling. And because the game is so short, there's no time to build up any suspense meaning key plot points are easily telegraphed long before they occur.

Swinging through New York is as fun as ever, but combat is beginning to feel stale even with the inclusion of the new bioelectric Venom powers. The problem with the Venom powers is that the developers then leaned on this new mechanic as a crutch and made damn near every enemy group have multiple types who could only be damaged by Venom -- or an enemy type that could prevent you from using Venom. It became very tedious quickly and was apparent that this was being used as a way to artificially enhance the game's difficulty.

I'm very glad I bought this on discount later because had I paid the original full retail price, I would have felt very ripped off.

Having spent the past twelve months training with Peter Parker, Miles Morales is beginning to master his new found abilities. So, when Peter heads off on holiday, he’s left to take care of New York City alone.

Originally planned as an expansion to Insomniac Games well received Spider-Man title, Miles Morales was eventually developed into a stand alone game, and as such it is relatively short (the story will take about 8 hours). Since it was released at a budget price, this isn’t really an issue however, and it certainly prevents the game from outstaying its welcome and keeps the story moving along at a good pace.

In terms of gameplay Miles Morales is certainly at its best when you’re webbing your way around the city fighting bad guys, and while there are few too many missions that involve dull ‘puzzles’, the developers have thankfully decided to keep the focus primarily on combat. The overwhelming number of (often repetitive) side-missions that these open world games seem to be obliged to include these days do offer a good few hours of additional gameplay for those that want it although, aside from a couple of more story based side-missions, I largely just ignored these personally.

Overall then, Miles-Morales hardly reinvents the open world genre, but it looks great on PS5 and does what it does very well.

The first Spider-Man game, on base PS4, already looked amazing, but this is definitely the most significant improvement over the original.
And not only it looks good, it also plays great! Swinging around the city is still a joy, the fast-paced combat system continues to excel expectations and unlockables like new suits, gadgets and skills feel very rewarding.

The story is also great. While not as involving as the original game, I felt like Miles' story is much more personal, with freedom to take the character into different and more original paths than the ones we've already seen in other Spider-Man media. Great voice performances, exciting action moments and emotional cuts make this game worth picking up.

What hurts this game, in my opinion, is the lack of novelty.
A few things that I did not like in the original are still here. And since this is a much shorter experience, these things just get in the way of a great story being told.
Side quests are still repetitive, but this time they don't add anything cool to flesh out the Spider-Man mythos, like the previous game did with some of them. The lack of enemy variety is sad and in harder difficulties, they still take forever to die.
And the worst thing in the entire game: THE PUZZLES!
They get old quick. Basically, they turn Miles Morales into a walking "generator energy". It's absurd!

This game is very short, so buying it at full price might not be the best idea, but if/when you do pick it up, you'll definitely have a great time, whether you're a Spider-Man fan or just a sucker for good Action Adventure games.
Now, if you've played the old one, you'll probably reach the credits with the taste of an overglorified DLC, in your mouth...

Well, the developers repeated almost all the sins of the previous part (unnecessary filler content, gathering, repetitive side quests, etc.), while creating a game with a smaller and less interesting plot.
Yes, there are good innovations, in some places the game pleases and surprises, but in general it leaves an impression of good, but not outstanding. A kind of successful, great DLC, but

You get nothing new here, but a less charismatic character, dumber story, lazy and tedious puzzles and over the top abilities that make no sense even for a superhero game, making the great formula of the first game feel already aged. Also the visual enhancements allowed by the PS5 make less of a difference than I expected.

The story starts very slowly, which is problematic given the really short campaign time. The story about the underground and Krieger and his company didn't really grab me. It was a nice bonus, but nothing really knocks me out here. But towards the end it got better and better, so that when the credits went down I thought, now that it's going to be good, it's done. Too bad.

    Graphics/Presentation

In places bombastic and very pretty to look at, especially the reflections and effects associated with the electricity. There were also WOW effects, the characters looked good and you could see different costumes and so on. There wasn't much room for improvement here compared to the part before.

    gameplay

The new elements that come into play with Miles make the combo gameplay even more powerful and dynamic. It runs buttery smooth and is one of the great strengths of the part. Unfortunately, the excellent combat is paired with relatively lifeless combat areas. It's actually always the same principle: closed area where you have to eliminate a certain number of enemies. This is lined up several times and then the mission is complete. But it was nice that you had different tools available to eliminate the opponents, although not very many new things have been added here.

Luckily there wasn't a lot of stealth, but a little more variety wouldn't have hurt, especially in the boss fights there could have been more. The fights that were there were staged very strongly and were a lot of fun. I tried and played through all the different activities and challenges, but it was just too much copy and paste from the other Spiderman for me. I didn't really like these side quests there.

Otherwise you get more of Spiderman here.

    Conclusion

If you liked Spiderman, you can't go wrong with Miles Morales. You basically get the same thing here with a different character and a few more weaknesses. In particular, the game unfortunately fell short of the campaign. Overall 7/10 spiders.

Another bad thing about this game, every 30 minutes, I encounter a script issue that does not allow me to complete a mission (ennemi in a wall and unattackable, QTE not launching etc). I have to restart all the mission.

At first, I decided to check this game out just to see what my PS5 can do and I heard that this game looks good - this is an understatement - the game looks gorgeous! I played with the middle graphics mode, where the game is running in 60 fps but doesn't have all the shinies on. It looked amazing (like the spiderman, heh) I just found myself checking out the streets and buildings and side-tracking from my missions a lot.

Gameplay is fun, fast and clean. Nothing bad to say here. Again, as not so big superhero kinda guy I still had a lot of fun swinging webs and kicking ass.

The only reason why this game is a 7 in my book is because I finished the main story in 6h 30min. Which is okay I guess - the game is kinda spin-off of the OG Spiderman game and I didn't expect it to be very long. Plus there are tons of side stuff to do and have hours and hours of more fun. If you finish the game, you can free roam and do side-quests. I just was left with the feeling that the story could have been little bit more.

Amazing game, pick it up - lots of fun to be had. Maybe try not to pay the full retail price.

The main reason for the low score I’m giving the game though, is the obvious woke propaganda that has been smeared all over the game. I have no issue with a version of Spider-Man that is black/hispanic, but then it just so happens that his best friend is Asian and it just so happens that he develops an interest in a disabled (deaf) girl over the course of the game. I’m actually kind of surprised that Ganke didn’t come out as gay, but there’s always a sequel for that to happen. Then there are the occasional reminders that ‘he’s OUR Spider-Man’ (as in belonging to Harlem/ethnic minorities) and that ‘finally Harlem has someone looking out for them’, despite the fact that I clearly remember swinging around Harlem, kicking the crap out of bad guys as the OG Spider-Man. But worst of all is the “gift” that the player receives for completing all the FNSM side quests, a massive Black Lives Matter mural. Seeing such a blatantly racist organisation promoted in a game that many people paid a lot of money for, just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Perhaps all this explains the underwhelming length of the game, it wasn’t so much about creating something worth the price, but more about promoting a certain ideology.

I tried to sit down and play through the whole thing and I was forgetting some of 50+ buttons for a certain action or another. I can't imagine putting this game down for a week or more and trying to come back. Also I thought stealth inside of action games like this was a recognized faux pas, why is it featured so heavily in this game?! A decent game, and looks fantastic on the PS5 especially with some of the features they added. The story, visuals, and sounds are all excellent, the gameplay is a bust however. Hopefully in the next spider-man game they'll tone down some of this nonsense, but chances seem high that they'll simply add more. Expand

It is a game that will never bore you but it should be longer, it only lasted 5.8 hours, and also that there are bugs that can damage your game, the game is good but that must be the "problem"

Superb graphics, throughout the game I often found myself staring at gorgeous textures and environment specially the indoor parts of the game. Lets look at one of the s4's lunch titles namely killzone shadow fall. we can see hoe that game looks now and how outdated the graphics of that game look now. wow just wow we are starting this generation with such graphic quality, I can't evenSuperb graphics, throughout the game I often found myself staring at gorgeous textures and environment specially the indoor parts of the game. Well, this sucked, speccialy for the price i payed. The story is awful, like almost laughable. The gameplay is identical altough somehow worse than the original. And the world is almost the same. And this is what, 50 dollars? For this?

This game was no good. The villain is annoying and the game is too short. It should've been a DLC. My first longer review couldn't be posted so I lost everything.

Why the woke culture has taken over this game. His story doesn't deserve this. Gameplay and technically successful game.

Did not live up to the hype for me. It felt like a generic and cheap story put together just so people don't question Miles being a major part of Spiderman 2 PS5. I love the first game's sense of real struggle that Peter had to go through. And I get Miles OBVIOUSLY goes through some hardship through this one too but it just DOESN'T have the same sense of quality that Spiderman PS4 had.Did not live up to the hype for me. Quickly put together and WAAAAAAAY too short for $50. Also some really crappy acting in some spots with some extremely generic characters like one of the main villains (Krieger). I just hoper Insomniac learns that they shouldn't make a short generic game like this again for the same price as this was. Expand

The game is a mixture for me, on one hand it looks gorgeous, and the combat has been refined. On the other hand I wish this game had a 1080p 60 fps raytracing mode since when switching between both modes in the game it felt like i got a major drawback either way. Can't say much about the story, I beat it in 5 hours and I paid 50 bucks for this, i'd wait till it drops to 40-30 dollar range. The game is a mixture for me, on one hand it looks gorgeous, and the combat has been refined. Side missions felt mostly generic but a little more personal for some of them. I'm rating this a 7/10 for the lack of length considering I beat this in a day, and this game is 10 dollars cheaper than the first game but is nowhere near the time I spent on the previous game Expand

Spiderman, Miles Morales, Is a game that is very conflicting for me to talk about, especially in comparison to its predecessor. The improved combat and web swing also makes this a great spiderman game and a great swing into the next generation of game consoles, even with its flaws and shortcomings. Expand

Way better than i thought, after reading some reviews i was actually worried, but it's not that bad! Biggest standout must be new costumes, graphics look also good. I guess it is shorter game than i would prefer it to be, but it's not bad.

Rather short but action-packed and full of exciting moments, Spider-Man: Miles Morales shows what PS5 hardware is capable of, and tells a fresh and different Spider-Man story.

Stretched between two generations of consoles, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is more of a teaser than a real showcase of PS5’s capabilities. It does not feel like a full-fledged sequel either, but the original’s gameplay mechanics still work great, while new gadgets and skills related to electricity are fun to use. [13/2020, p.54]

From its newly incorporated next-gen technology down to its rooted and representative backstory, Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcases some of the best capabilities of the PS5. A short but fun sequel to the groundbreaking Spider-Man for PS4 that’s more than worthy as a successor.
