    May i say omg next gen is where its at ok like wow im so love the homefield advantage you have to try i never seen q football game implement something so sensual like no bs try it its a beast feature and the moving feels better a lil wierd but you'll get use to it madden really stepped up with this one played both versions and they are both great but next generation is beautiful

    A bit of a disappointment, I enjoy some of the UI changes but there really is not a large difference from madden 21. Also, how is the create a character still this poor?? With EA Play basic you get madden 21 I don't think it is worth spending the money for 22, especially not at full price with the bugs. I did the 10-hour trial but only played around 5 hours

    It's really fun... but could certainly be improved in a number of ways. Little things like the same defensive coordinator guy on both teams.. collision detection... replays often don't show what the most important part (where the feet are etc)

    Madden NFL is in a very sad state. EA has completely cut every cost in development purely to rake in as much profits from the imbeciles spending $ on Ultimate Team, which is aiding in the slow decline of quality in games. Madden NFL is decent. More animations for game play is nice, however Madden is too animations dependent. The graphics are still mediocre. Remember during the PS2Madden NFL is in a very sad state.     Anyone giving this game a 0/10 is just trying to get back at EA and most likely hasn’t even played the game. The game isn’t perfect by any stretch but it is an enjoyable game for football fans and has more features than EA had added in the last 5 years combined. Gameplay is improved and feels the best since switching to the frost bite engine. This game has a long way to go but it is not aAnyone giving this game a 0/10 is just trying to get back at EA and most likely hasn’t even played the game. The game isn’t perfect by any stretch but it is an enjoyable game for football fans and has more features than EA had added in the last 5 years combined.     The best Madden title there has been in the last 10 years. I really like the coaching trees, weekly game planning, home field advantage, and am looking forward to the new scouting system. I can only hope they improve upon these things and not take them out of the game as they have with so many other memorable features throughout the years. The biggest issue with the game is the actual gameplay. This year is better than last with the new player movement, however the animation system just doesn’t work. It’s been years of trying and upgrading it, and it flat out sucks and makes the gameplay unrealistic. EA needs to move towards a physics based gameplay where a tank running back like Derrick Henry doesn’t get arm tackled by a scrawny LB who’s not even in range to make the play. Too many glitches and big plays ruined by the animation system. It sucks. Please move on. Features I’d like to see added in the following Maddens to come would be the ability to create your own team/stadium that has been offered before. Pre season mini camps with drills to earn XP, and more realistic officiating system that begins with adding refs onto the field and calling more unscripted timely penalties. The last major addition they NEED to add is making different broadcasts similar to MLB the Show. From my knowledge, EA owns the ESPN license. Make a freaking “Monday Night Football” broadcast with different layouts to simulate real prime time games and give that extra importance when playing in one. Golden opportunity. Overall I’m happy with the changes added but we’re still far away from seeing this games true potential. Don’t stop here, make the Madden we all deserve and want to see.… Expand

    Madden 21 was the worst sports game I’ve ever played. However, EA put in the time and the effort that us fans have been saying for years. The Madden franchise community (except for people that only make money off of saying bad stuff on the game) has embraced and loved the changes. This game is the best Madden since Madden 12. I tip my hat to Mr. Weingarten, Mr. Douglas, and the entire EAMadden 21 was the worst sports game I’ve ever played. However, EA put in the time and the effort that us fans have been saying for years.     Surprise, it’s the same game as every year. Everyone who rates it 0 stars should maybe become a developer and think of new ideas. Last time I checked, the NFL hasn’t really changed at all since last year, so why should the game?
    What they need to do is bring back NFL Street. Until then, it is a solid game.

    No Hate here, the game just doesn't work. All of these isdues I personally experienced.
    After each Franchise game it drops back to the Madden main menu.
    The Momentum system gives the opposing team credit when you score. When you choose a face for your pkayer, the system gives it a completely different face. The skin tone resets after you go back to the Franchise menu. There is no way    No Hate here, the game just doesn't work. All of these isdues I personally experienced.
    After each Franchise game it drops back to the Madden main menu.

    There is no way to see the league standings, the menu just isn't there.
    It refuses to load Franchise Save files

    It doesn't even show which players are X-Factors and their goals on the game menu anymore.
    My 23 year old QB led the league in pasding and TDs. He lost a plaoff game and the system took away his X Factor, dropping him to a Star.
    This is not anout the abysmal logic (the computer rushed 8 men on 3rd and 1 when I had 4 recievers then double teamed the TE leaving 3 men completely uncovered). The game programming is pathetic. Regardless of price, it's not worth it because it just doesn't work.    … Expand

    They need to end this monopoly of football games and allow other studios to make simulation football games. This is absolutely absurd. They would much rather fix bugs in their Ultimate Team store and sets than fix any of the game play issues which render the game nearly unplayable. Its time to rethink football for video games.

    Probably the most buggy AAA title I've ever seen released on a console. I just bought the game and experienced an issue with not receiving class rep after level 9, so looked it up online. All results were from 4 months ago mentioning that the issue was known and not fixed.

    There is NO excuse for this. Pathetic.

    I'll give this year's roster update a 3/10 only because EA made minimal effort in making some improvements. That said, the few improvements they did both to make are trivial at best.

    Pros:
    - Slightly more Franchise mode capabilities
    - Home field advantage is nice.. but broken

    Cons:
    - Barely improved graphics, per usual
    - Animations are insanely repetitive
    - Buggy as ever

But now I might not ever buy again (so I say lol). The game, when on ps4, crashed 4 times in 2 days. On ps5, not so much an issue. However, you have to be on a ps4 if you want to play someone else on ps4. Ps5 and ps4 aren’tGoodness gracious. I have been less and less satisfied with Madden games over the years.     If a football team finishes 2-14 or 2-15 under the new schedule rules, the coach and GM are often relieved on their duties. This franchise has been a loser for over a decade. There has been no accountability, no course correction, nothing...

    As long as the game is profitable, is it has been, there seems like there is no impetus to make the changes needed to satisfy the fanbase. The 22 installment is a lot of new paint. The crumbling structure is still crumbling. There have been a few bones thrown to the thirsty NFL gamers. But the real changes that are needed to bring this title to the level of excellence it deserves is lacking.

    I personally believe this is a foundational issue. The wrong people are developing and planning this game. You cannot deliver an experience when the game programmers, coders, and planners are not truly die-hard football fans.

    The right people for the job are out there. But EA will not hire them because they don't fit the culture they want at their gaming company. Perhaps, they should hire the best people for the job and not individuals who fit a certain classification for a HR metric?

    Make sense?

    This game will never be what it deserves to be until the entire team from management to the low-level developer is gutted. The team needs to be replaced with people who are football experts. People who can hit the deliverables needed for the level of excellence required.

    This franchise needs to be a simulation. A 365 day true to life NFL lifecycle from The NFL Draft to the Super Bowl and everything in between.

    Fix this and get it right! The billions you are making off the fans should be put back into the product, and not into your pockets...    … Expand

They have the resources to make Franchise every bit as good as it's ever been if they want to, but they don't . I don't know what to say anymore. I suppose I should just stop caring and move on at this point.

    It really is a lost cause so long as the gambling is present in the game. They have no pressure to make it better when the profits keep rolling in from the suckers who buy those card packs every year.    … Expand

The game is beyond buggy, franchise mode hasn't really been updated. You guys added an option to add coordinators but your hiring has no affect on your season. I haven't even touched MUT in years so II'm giving it a 3 because the graphics are pretty good but there's just too much focus on graphics. As a developer myself, the way this game has played the last few years, I think some changes in that department are beyond necessary.     This game is a total scam. The game crashes constantly and there are so many bugs its not even funny. The promised scouting update is nowhere to be found. This is anything but a $70 next gen game, it is a total waste of money and you're better off playing literally any other game. This is the worst game I've played in years.

I found a game full of repetitive animations, glitchy/jumpy physics, crashes, and modes I absolutely don't care about. I haven't opened Superstar KO, MUT, or The Yard, and I do not plan to.

    The presentation is the highlight of the game, as everything does    I'll be honest - I haven't properly played Madden in years, so I decided to jump in again with 22 to see how things have changed.     It's sad that this is the only NFL franchise we get. The graphics and lighting can't hold up a game that fails to perform in any other way. I'm sad I spent PS5 money on this entry. As everyone else has already told you - skip this one.    … Expand

    Once again, this is the same game as it it’s always been because they have no incentive to fix or change anything. If you need a football game to play, there’s no other option. But be warned, it is not worth the $70 price tag. Reused animations, glitches that make booth reviews only happen once the play clock has reached zero. It’s trash. Don’t waste your money.

    Do not buy this game; the only thing EA is good at is marketing. I don't know if it's that they can't code to save their life, or if if they're just lazy; the lack of any passion in this product is unacceptable for the only NFL sim game that's allowed by the NFL. The only thing they know how to do is marketing. You're basically just spending 70 dollars minimum for the right to buy Ultimate team trading card packs.

I literally get the same tackle animations multiple plays in a row as if everything is scripted, because it is! The way they run routes is so clunky and slow at times that it irritates me. The yard is the same as last year, so what was the point of bringing it back!? Face of the franchise is complete garbage as well. In past maddens we were able to play whatever position you desired. You were able to go to training camp and actually wear training camp gear, go to barbershops, go get tattoos, and etc. it’s so many things missing from this franchise it’s insane.     I was given Madden NFL 22 for free. I've already gone through the process of getting a refund for my friend. An all exclusive licensing should at the very least have something appealing, or even when you publish it have a half working game. I hope into franchise mode play a game I finish the game with a win of 27-7 and I get back to the main screen it counts it as a loss for me 7-0. Not to mention the first game I play the game is so bugged that it chooses to mash 4 different animations into one making the player look like a black hole. Besides that I also hop into the moot Face of the Franchise mode with a rather ok acting seen, but you hop into week 2 and when you win and you start heading for the screen again it says you have disconnected from the EA server it has not saved your data and sends you back to the main screen. I refuse to head into MUT because it's the same objectively pointless game each and every year you spend money on cards to make your team decent enough to compete against someone else and you work on grinding for the top tier cards at the end of the year only for it to be worth nothing but a 70 overall in next year's game just for you to re-do it again. Might I add that old gen is a carbon copy of Madden 18, 19, 20, and 21 all together because they did nothing but change the presentation screens and some scouting. The biggest emphasis they had on the game was Moment, and Home Field Advantages. When half of the population didn't get a PS5, XBOX Series X|S they stuck with old gen only to find out the same presentation in game from the past 6 years now, and that Home field advantage and momentum isn't even a thing on old gen.

    If EA actually reads this as I hope they do, when most of your customers are sending in refund requests, and not only that, but people who didn't even bother to buy the game they got it from someone for free and they still want to get a refund on it. Something is wrong. Your game objectively has no meaning anymore because I can't play Franchise mode because it's pointless to play a game only to come out and not have any type of data for my team and a loss counted against my record. Absolutely no point in me hoping into a Face of the Franchise game just for the EA to magically loss connection and my data lost and sent back to the main screen. You have ruined the NFL video game franchise, and you have ruined anything that is considered fun in the world of video games for the Sports Market Empire you hold so dear and don't want any critics to tell you differently.

    In Football, Coaches always talk about details pay attention to details they win games. This is the same fair point for this video game. You lack detail, and while you are probably doing it at home, just cancel the game rather than come out with something so embarrassingly atrocious. If I could I would give this a -100.

    This game is legit pretty terrible. There will be times that the D line will get through the line and run straight past the QB/running back. It is awful don't waste your money. It is graphically exactly the same as the Madden 21 and the home-field advantage is just a terrible new feature.

    This game is an improvement over Madden 21, just like Madden 21 is an improvement over Madden 20. However, being slightly better than a terrible game doesn't make it a good game. Franchise Mode finally got an update in a long time since the mode was never updated after Madden 25 but even with the Franchise Mode update the mode is still barebones and still is the same thing ever sinceThis game is an improvement over Madden 21, just like Madden 21 is an improvement over Madden 20. However, being slightly better than a terrible game doesn't make it a good game.     Gameplay is still the same ever since EA put Madden on the Frostbite Engine (a First-Person Shooter Game Engine). Not to mention that EA signed a 6-Year extension with the NFL for exclusive rights for the Franchise which means we have to wait until 2026 just to see another company make an NFL Simulator. If someone wants to play a licensed NFL Game you can only play this game because of EA's exclusive license with the NFL. JUST PUT ALL OF YOUR BLAME ON THE GAME TOWARDS THE NFL AND EA BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE AT ALL!!!!

    All-Pro Football 2K8 was the last 2K Football Game, despite the fact the game came out in 2007 & it still features the best gameplay in a Football Game even though the game is unlicensed with no official teams but licensed players. APF 2K8 doesn't have a lot of depth, but the gameplay makes it up for the depth. The 6th-Gen Version of Madden 07 is the greatest Madden EVER because of its depth, the Franchise mode still blows any Modern Madden Franchise away because Madden 07 has over 80+ features that aren't in a Madden Game today. Madden 07's gameplay wasn't great and it didn't feel realistic like the 2K Games, it felt arcade-like but it was at least fun and challenging but it felt better than Modern Madden because it wasn't ruled by scripted animations. Madden 07 lacked in gameplay, but it was made up for its depth. What makes Madden 22 horrible is that it doesn't succeed at either Gameplay or Depth!!

    When you boot up the game, it still shows the same game modes from Madden 21 but EA added a new mode called "Championship Series" but it's just a part of Ultimate Team. When you boot up Championship Series it just takes you to Ultimate Team forcing you start spending your money on MUT packs. P2W Game Modes don't deserve to exist in a fully-priced game like this. There's just another Face of the Franchise story & small Franchise updates with nothing else new. Madden 22's FOTF is lame & you can only play as either a Quarterback or Linebacker (older Madden Superstar modes allow you to play any position even Kicker or Offensive Lineman). You can't change your player's number in College, the cutscenes look like PS3 graphics or worse, the script is so BAD it makes you wanna skip every cutscene & it could force you to stop playing the game in general. When you start the mode it forces you to play Tutorial drills over & over, you can't change the college difficulty, & once you get drafted to the NFL the mode doesn't have any other incentives to keep you playing.

    THERE IS NO CARE PUT INTO THIS GAME & EVERYTHING IS JUST RE-USED FROM OLDER MADDENS OR OTHER EA SPORTS GAMES & ITS STILL FAR BEHIND FROM OLDER MADDEN GAMES!! THE GAME ISN'T WORTH $60 & IT SHOULDN'T BE BOUGHT FROM ANYONE EXCEPT YOUTUBERS, STREAMERS, OR MADDEN SIMPS WHO THINK THE GAME IS GOD-LIKE!!!

    In this review, I'm not gonna talk about bugs and glitches, because there are too many, especially for a AAA game that releases every year and is always pretty much the same as the year before. EA is regressing big time at that point when it comes to Madden.

    MUT :
    I don't like it, I've tried it, it's a ripoff, it's extremely repetitive, not fun and I hate the fact that the other game modes don't really give you anything more for MUT like it is in MLB The Show. The thing I hate the most about MUT is the fact that you start over every year, your money or grind from the years before is lost forever and that makes no sense. It's the same thing over and over every year, I'm not getting ripped off there again. This mode should be a free game as it is for all pay-to-win games.

    Superstar KO :
    I don't even care about it, I don't have a need for it, I don't want it, so even if it's good, which I doubt it is because I don't know what purpose it serves at all, I'm not gonna play it ever. I want a SIMULATION game, not an arcade one, although I will buy the arcade NFL Game 2K is supposed to be working on.

    Face of the Franchise :
    Story is lame, but mostly, it has no depth to it. Career modes could be so much more now, it could be a true Football RPG, but instead, it's just a linear football story without a real story mode. Once you get to the NFL, it gets boring really fast. The possibilities are endless with a career mode, yet EA comes up with this shallow experience.

    The Yard :
    In theory, it could be a lot of fun, but why isn't it more like NBA 2K's playground? Your career mode should be directly related to it and that's it, it isn't really compicated! All you got to do is copy the competition... Even though there is none. The rewards in this mode are unexciting, it is once again very shallow and doesn't do anything to make me want to play it.

    Franchise mode :
    This is the mode I thought back in 2000 would be insanely deep and fun to play in 2021. Never in my wildest nightmares I would have thought Franchise would be as bad as it is now. It's been a mixbag of recycled assets from year to year, no attention to detail, zero presentation, bad commentary, boring scouting, nothing stimulating to do between games, etc. They don't care or they are just too far off what people want as a franchise mode. We deserve more respect and more polish to a game we have been playing and paying for for so long. It's sad the game is at this level now.

    Graphics :
    The graphics are good, but still not great because of a lack of attention ton detail. The bugs really screw that part of the game and make it look weak. I'd say this is the best part about Madden, but even on next gen, you're still looking at Madden, not NFL Football and that's what sucks about it.

    Gameplay :
    The gameplay, for so many years, has been about exploiting glitches and that hasn't changed. You don't play football and devise a football strategy, you devise a cheesy Madden strategy. Here again, the bugs make the gameplay so frustrating and unrealistic, in the end it's just not fun.

    The NFL has to put a stop to this exclusivity agreement they have with EA, for the sake of their fans. We deserve better.    … Expand

    I haven't played the game. However, you don't need to when there is a clip of Tua throwing with his right arm. That alone speaks volumes for the lack of attention EA puts in to Madden. How can I trust them to make a proper game when they can't get a simple detail correct?

Features have been cut, then later introduced as "new". Even the "new" things they try to do, like updating movement on the next generation consoles, clearly didn't go through any extensive testing. The new movement absolutely has broken coverage models. In many different situations, defensive players don't even remotely work in their assignments. I am honestly disappointed in myself for hoping for something better, it's quite obvious at this point that EA is milking this exclusive license with the tiniest amount of effort they can, because they are the only show in town with an NFL license.    … Expand

    So many glitches I cannot even play franchise mode. Game still littered with microtransactions, and the pay to play setup ruins the game for me in online modes. Fix the bugs and microtransactions and add all the mising features we had 10 +years ago.

Instead of fixing their broken, inorganic, glitchy gameplay, EA promotes and praises the people who abuse it and act like someone winning the Madden Championship without passing the ball AT ALL is completely okay. They give out thousands of copies to various NFL teams, players, and influencers to give away, crowding out any actual criticism of the game. They clearly aren't proud of their product, or else they wouldn't be giving away THOUSANDS of copies every year for free. It's a cash grab, and it's really sad to see. Hopefully either these predatory, virtual gambling-esque microtransactions like the ones we see in MUT are made illegal or the NFL comes to its senses and ends the exclusive licensing agreement with EA, because this is not simulation NFL football. Also please remove the scripted FoF and put in an actual Superstar mode, you know the one from back in the PS2 era. The yard is rip off of NFL street. Side note, I loved the Street series. Bring that back instead of this garbage mode in Madden.
    Franchise is largely the same until we get the updated scouting. Which will probably bring a ton more of bugs. Can someone just the contract? The cover athlete doesn't even have his correct contract in. Offseason still doesn't matter. The draft is boring. Free agency just goes to the highest bidder. Devs, you do know that NFL players don't only follow money. You know, some choose less money to go to a winning team right??. Where are comp picks?? Don't even get me started on the same copy and paste relocation mode. Nothing changed there...

    Madden is just a game full of modes that are largely unfinished. Then every year you go and make it seem y'all made a huge leap. Fix the game. FROM THE GROUND UP.

Playing franchise and playing games within the season, I have won the game but when I return to the main menu to advance the week I some how lost the game I had played and won. Although if EA was really focused on improving franchise, why isn't this the cornerstone for the game at launch? As for gameplay, I'm playing on the PS5 and the presentation looks decent but the play on the field doesn't feel any different from PS4 and Madden 21. The home field advantage and momentum is cool, but not game changing. It, again, was in NCAA football for years. In summation, I clearly am not enjoying this game. I want to, but the game is not letting me. During the build up to release we were promised a new and improved Madden and all we got currently is an incomplete mess. Intentionally failed every drill, had zero catches in the college games, and answered questions to make my draft stock go down. I was selected 3rd overall by the 49ers. So I then make a qb in face of the franchise. My first drills I was left with no receiver so I failed every rep. My name was also changed to Wilson, and my avatar was not my created character, I morphed into Lamar Jackson. I continued and my next workout left me without a receiver again followed by the team workout with the jets to see no receivers again. Shocker. At this point I decide trying to improve draft stock is a bust so I tank on purpose. Intentionally throwing as many pics as possible and losing in the playoffs followed by failing the same questions I fielded play as a wr. Once again I was drafted 3rd by the 49ers. Come to find out, trey lance was ALSO drafted 3rd by the 49ers. Logik. I quit that dumpster fire of a game mode to play a franchise. Same copy and paste stuff we have seen in years past. Player contracts are not correct, player models are wrong, I get to the draft and all of my scouting was lost. So now I get to draft blind, but wait. Now I’m literally blinded. By a light from the draft stage. I can’t see any of the picks before me and there is now way to see during the draft. Fantastic. I made it through 3 rounds before the white light encompassing the entire screen drove me mad to the point of just simming it. This was all the farther I made it. I contacted Sony about a refund and was granted one. Stay far away from this game. At best it’s a bug filled copy and paste of what we have had over the last 6 years. Face of Franchise is still pointless, except this year you get to sit through what can only be described as bad Kung Fu movie where character's words and mouth don't match, until Maddn quit trying and show you the back of the character's head with subtitles. Game play is buggy, with glitches galore that the recent patch only made worse.

    Another half ass EA sports game. 2K makes amazing NBA games and EA keeps making bad football games. Sadly they will more than likely be making the next NCAA football game and won’t care much about making that any good as well. Done buying Madden games and unless something changes any sports games form EA. Do not waste your money!

Face of the Franchise is back and more broken than ever. Franchise is missing the features that EA's NHL has. As somebody who plays these games for the franchise and MyCareer experiences, I feel disrespected.

    Let’s be realistic. For an annual sports franchise, it’s not necessarily practical to expect huge evolution year on year. It’s also fair to say that at a minimum, players should expect EA to deliver incremental quality of life improvements and make an effort to hone their overall experience of the game for the better. Whilst there is only so far the needle can be pushed year on year, the launch of a new Madden on next-gen systems presented EA with an opportunity to really raise the bar. That’s why it’s particularly disappointing that Madden 22 only offers stagnant content and, sadly, creative disinterest.

    Madden is as compelling as it ever was, but it can’t escape the slight feeling that things are spread a little too thin. Improvements to franchise mode are welcome and help the experience, but they are smaller than perhaps they deserve. With so many different ways to play football, it’s a little difficult to get in invested in any one game.
