    Its virtually no different than all the previous maddens. This game seriously needs a massive overhaul. Completely revamp this ugly-ass menu, all the user interfaces for the franchise, ultimate team, the yard. Gameplay needs improvement like always. We need more depth, all around. The trial was more than enough to realize this game is terrible again. Just a roster update

I’m franchise mode you can see the madden 21 dashboard running in the background. Just got done playing and winning the super bowl yo get back to the menu to say I lost 14-0. This game sucks. EA SUCKS, and y’all should give up your license to make football games. **** MUT **** the yard. Just give us a football game that works and doesn’t glitch every 17 seconds… Expand

Same broken players, same loot boxes, same gambling. Franchise mode has 1 or 2 features from old games that come back and are advertised as new -- it's still horrible. The Yard is lame.     I am currently into a half an hour of the 10 hour free trial I get by subscribing to your EA Access. I have played half a game that felt choppy and crash. I then have started a franchise for it to crash before I even start a game. Let's see how this game feels if it actually loads through a complete game. Now an hour in. Gameplay is slightly smoother but overall product is garbage. TooI am currently into a half an hour of the 10 hour free trial I get by subscribing to your EA Access.     Game is sluggish filled with bugs! Could barely play any game mode over the weekend. How is auction house closed? Why can't I enjoy draft franchises with my friends with it us having to close the game after picks? This is just sad.

    Another year with the same old crap. Can’t wait for the day EA can no longer touch the nfl license. They need to stop these yearly releases and rebuild the game from the ground up but we all know EA will never put that kind of effort into any of their crappy sports games

Instead we got generic assistant coaches (no powerhouse coaching staffs filled with HCs like Maddens 10+ years ago), features that don't work, games saying you lost even tho you won, and missing players. Don't get me wrong, the game is beautiful. Beautiful graphics, the game day environment hasI got my hopes up for nothing. They promised that they would put effort into franchise.     Barely any improvements from last year. Franchise mode still isn’t good. It would be nice to be able to restructure contracts and things of that nature. The game play is very similar to the last 3 years. Just not a big enough improvement to be worth $70. MUT is just pay to win and full of unreasonable price micro transactions. They should have just taken a year off and made a good game.

    Playing on the Xbox Series X, it's a pretty big disappointment. Granted, I wasn't expecting the visuals to be a really big improvement, but they look exactly the same as Madden 21 on Series X. What's more disappointing is a lot of the same bugs (franchise mode randomly going back to the home screen, receivers still running out of bounds before catching, blockers blocking in the behind thePlaying on the Xbox Series X, it's a pretty big disappointment. While adding the coordinators to franchise mode (the primary mode I play) is nice, it feels very simplistic and seems like they could've easily added this years ago with minimal effort. They are still missing out on pieces that would make the game actually feel like people at EA have actually watched a football game, much less do the minimal amount of research to understand the game. Make the salary cap and contract structuring more realistic, allow users to trade more than 3 players and more than 2 years of draft picks at a time, understand the importance of special teams players like a long-snapper and gunners and other pieces that would make fans believe this is an authentic football game rather than a simplistic, mobile version of a football game. Even worse, are the amount of bugs in the game. There are small, yet simple, ones like Tua warming up with the right hand or players spiking with their right hand when the ball is still stuck in their left hands to others where the player animations just start glitching or don't display at all and even further more the game just randomly closing. There are even bugs that were carried over from last year which makes me truly wonder if EA has a QA team or if the higher-ups listen to the QA team or just ship it without caring about quality. All in all, while I have supported and purchased this game consistently for over a decade, I'm really starting to feel it's not worth it any more. I'd rather wait for the contract with the NFL to expire and hope that some competition on football games make EA actually pick up and start working on this game.… Expand

    Madden 22 is nowhere near where it needs to be. The only reason I bought it is because it's the ONLY NFL game available on current-gen consoles. It loads significantly slower than other PS5 games I play. EA needs to stop making Madden games.

    I enjoyed Madden (NOT 22) when I first started playing years ago, but I have been disappointed the past 7-8 years or so ever since animations have run/ruin the game. This game solely relies on animations (BiG SurPRisE), rather than actual user skill.

    First of all, I‘d like to point out the positive fact, that EA has reacted to their community by apparently trying to improve their Franchise mode. Hashtags such as #fixmaddenfranchise were trending and it is good to see them actually responding to this.

This community desperately asks for a more in depth customization of their playing experience. The staff options are decent, but they were not even among the top 5 additions, that this community frequently asks for. I understand that EA or the NFL has concerns about customization aspects, such as creating a team with jerseys or adding tattoos. Yet these are the little things, that are possible on a technical side and EA had this stuff in their games over a decade ago.

    To summarize my point: it‘s the same game as every year, with some different menus. The gameplay and graphics changes are hardly noticable. Their "additions“ simply can‘t change the fact, that you get bored after less then a single season in Franchise Mode. Safe your money guys and lets just hope that the upcoming NCAA will simply copy everything they had in 2014 with better graphics. It‘s sad, but that would already be a huge improvement compared to every Madden after Madden 25. And if there is one wish I can ask for:

    Keep those Madden developers as far away from the NCAA-game as possible. Please EA, just do it for your community. It will be worth it.    … Expand

    The developers only care about money. Nothing else. They make the game just playable for No Money Spent Players for them to latch onto hope thinking it will become better. And it in fact doesn't....ever. It just becomes more pay to win day by day.

    Zone and man coverage broken. WR/DB interaction is based purely on badly scripted animations. Same with everything else. People can still scramble back 15 yards and throw across body, off balance and hit perfect dots. Blocking is still very poor.     Same thing year after year. Madden has turned into nothing but a pretty skin to get people spending in Ultimate Team. Every loading screen entices you to buy, the game manipulates you into JIST losing so you are more apt to spend money, etc. Game should be outlawed for enticing child gambling.

Honestly was not worth the effort to click "download". before the first 30 seconds, I was already outraged. It thought my last name was profanity!     Somehow they copied and pasted madden 21 and still managed to make it worse. I bought the game thinking they actually updated franchise and yet I’m disappointed. It hasn’t been 24 hours and I’ve already deleted the game. I wish I could have my money back.

    This has got to be the biggest joke of a simulation football game. I just watched my players play fifa for 3 minutes before the ball went out of bounds. Players are hella animation dependant threw a pass to Julio only to have a 68 ovr corner make up 6 yards down the field to intercept the pass from a full sprint Julio madden is worse every year let’s hope they don’t mess up college football.

I tried to play face of the franchise as a WR and I can’t even pull up the player card to see what my stats are, awards, or contract. On top of that the gameplay is terrible, the QB bullet passes everything and constantly gets picked off or takes a sack. The offense is just anemic, face of the franchise sucks. My player is glitched on face of the franchise, whenever I go to sprint he is stuck in this weird jogging animation where he moves slower than everybody on the field even though I’m the fastest player on the field after checking everyone’s ratings.     I’m a franchise player. They have made some changes that I like to the mode but it’s just not enough to where I can honestly recommend spending your hard earned money on it yet. For how much money this company has I just expect more (even if I’d have to wait longer for a better product).

    I like many others could go on for days about things that could continue to be improved in this game, but one thing that has me quite annoyed it how contracts players have in real life aren’t ”in the game”. Pat Mahomes (the cover athlete) is signed for 10 years in real life but in the game he only has a 6 year contract (through 2027). I just don’t get it. This the only option for a simulation football game we have because EA cornered the market and they can’t even get the cover athletes contract right in the game!? I’ve never made a video game, but I can’t imagine it’s that hard to just have his contract set for 10 years or give us the ability as players to sign our franchise players for 10 years like the Mahomes deal.
    Like I said to start, it’s on the right path in regards to changes, it’s just not enough in my option to spend money on it yet.

    I played Madden 21 and had an OK time. This year they have completely broken zone coverage, adjustments to coverage, sped up the game so it is harder to user control, and basically destroyed any desire to play the game head to head. I am not buying and I will go waste my money on one of the broken indie knockoffs because at least I know my money is going to a company that is actually trying.

We need to demand better from fans and let our voices be heard, this has to stop. EA has made 4 billion dollars from this game from ultimate team alone yet develop this game like they have a thousand dollar budget. Don’t bother buying this game or waiting for a update to fix one of the hundreds of issues this game has. My advice find a ps2 buy nfl 2k5 and enjoy a football game the way it’s suppose to be made. Madden gives the menus new coats of paint or just adds back one of 50 modes the ps2 games had. I won’t go into gameplay that much because I only get 5,000 characters and I would need at least 10,000 it’s that bad. Good luck throwing or running in this game, the defense is so overpowered you’ll throw at least 4 interceptions a game, the receivers are not aggressive at all and just stand there while defenders come snag the ball away, the players run and feel like there running in quicksand and haven’t had good animations. If you do win in the game madden will just give you a loss anyways. Technically you could throw one play touchdowns the entire game because the zones are completely broken. The players scans are awful there are some that are good but 90 percent bad. Franchise mode has zero to offer and I mean zero it’s the most basic mode I’ve ever seen this year but just wait for an update EA says like the whole game itself. 0/10 for my review, Sony and Xbox pull cyberpunk bc of glitches then this game has got to go as well because it worse please don’t waste your money… Expand

Multiple NFL Stars are missing facescans, player mugshots are not there, NFL rosters aren't updated, aesthetic visuals are not updated - political messaging from what was left in the forced-diversity politics in which EA wanted to put in my games from last year of 2020 are still in the game. Phrases like "End Racism" are still on the back of players helmets when they aren't now as of the late 2021 NFL Season, which just goes to show they just copied and pasted the player models instead of updating them. Player tattoos are still not allowed, Equipment was hanged out, left to dry with only receiving maybe two additions at best. You can tell when certain stadiums get the EA treatment over others, some still have the exact same textures when a team is on the low, but if a team like the Bears for certain gets a new popular QB, the stadium will only be slightly updated with better textures. Lighting is even worse than 21's, there is no Dynamic Weather Events despite EA claiming 22 has "dynamic gameplay", immersion doesn't feel any better than it did last year. They tried to do it with the Home Advantage system, however I feel like that's just a cheap copout to enforce more DDA within the game's system if gamers aren't paying attention. The same panoramic shots of the field happen, there is no variety to it. The UI for scoreboards is only slightly changed when you score a TD which is cool but then you would have to think about how late EA would be considering score presentations were already in the game almost 10+ years ago. No disrespect to Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis but they've on this game since Madden 17, I've been able to go from High School to College and they're still on this game? Why isn't there more commentators working on this game? Is EA really that greedy? It's annoying to hear the same voices over and over again. I was really hoping for a change, but hope is something that EA corps like to suck out of you for profit.

    Functionality: 0/5: I'm always willing to give any brand new game the benefit of the doubt when it launches because bugs are always bound to occur. With this year giving EA even more time to develop their game, there should be absolutely ZERO excuses as to why this game is as broken as it is. On my first night of playing with my friend, we had to stop and restart our game 3 times because of how unplayable it is. This game has multiple game breaking bugs that prevent you from either finishing games or even getting to halftime without some gameplay-stopping glitch occuring in the process. Animation warps still occur, when I say that this game is NOT dependant on motion and physics, I mean it. This game will suck you into so many animation tackles that it ruins any chance of getting YAC plays, or even running the ball. Forget about using any team that doesn't have Escape Artist on the Quarterback, you will get sacked consecutively if you dare to move around or step up in the pocket. WR vs CB/FS/SS logic still isn't there, I played for around 10 hours this week and I found the receivers having a harder time trying to make big body catches, without getting warped into an animation that either gives the DB leverage over the receiver or gives them an automatic interception animation that clips through the receiver. Don't even bother to use TE's this year if they aren't above an 87+ rating, it feels like they are nonexistent giants when you try to throw to them. DB's are somehow still bullying TE's which makes no sense given the size differences. There should no excuse as to why this game is still running 2 different UI's in the background, it slows menu loading times by multiple seconds and makes everything harder to get through. The UI in Franchise is not only confusing but works against itself in the process - you could tell they copied NHL's layout in the past and threw it all together within a couple of months. That's not the dedication and honor that the EA Devs promised sports gamers a year ago.

    Please do not buy this game if you are not willing to review it and give it the criticism it deserves. It's abundantly clear that EA is not willing to make generation defying leaps with the hardware that this game is now on, nor are they willing to rebuild this game's engine from the ground up to make everything more versatile and better ran. EA is a stubborn company that will not fire it's bad employees because of how bad they've ran this franchise into the ground. Nobody who's a programmer or designer with a lick of common sense would want to enter it and I don't blame them. 0/10.    … Expand

The game is unplayable, I literally had to leave the game and come back to play Face of the Franchise. Speaking of Face of the Franchise, this mode absolutely needs to be removed entirely. It’s been the same since Madden 20. It has very terrible cutscenes with blasted music in the back that is semi alright at best. You play in college for two games and somehow you’re already the best pick in the draft when you haven’t played any high school or college game yet. You don’t get to work your way up from any high school or any college. You are forced to pick a college, there isn’t many selections and just the same few teams from Madden 20. You can’t even change your number you just stuck with a number that EA forces you to wear. The cutscenes are broken and cheesy. The characters mouths sometimes doesn’t move when their voice is speaking and if you do proceed to skip the cutscenes the audio will be glitched, forcing them to repeat themselves after you already heard them once. If you are a QB you are most likely getting drafted to the Jaguars which is nice because you are the number one pick but they already having Trevor so it’s stupid. After you play a season it’s just franchise mode right after that with a few little scenarios here and there. Franchise mode is broken as well. I created a created player to use because I didn’t want to play the barebones Face of the Franchise mode. I won a game or so with my created RB and when I went back to the Franchise Screen, we somehow lost the game which we clearly won. If you are the home team your team isn’t getting the win which is just a dumb glitch. Also, you can’t look for a right tackle or RT because EA made both of those left tackles or LT. We need to boycott EA and force them to make an actual good madden game or never buy this fraudulent piece of ****… Expand

This is bar far the worst madden I have ever played and maybe one of the worst games I’ve played in recent memory. It’s clunky, glitchy recycled garbage. Save your money. Play last years version.

If this was the first football game I had ever played, I'd say wow, they get pretty close to the real deal and I could forgive a few bugs and probably give it a 6 or 7. It is however not the product everyone anticipated in the days of Madden 05-08. By extrapolating how good the game was then, we could only imagine how good it would be 14 years later. Here were are though several console generations later, and we have seen stark movement backwards, particularly in franchise mode. With every new console generation, the game is torn down, stripped of features and then they slowly the features are put back in the game as "new features" until the launch of the next new console when it's all gone again.

    The fact that this game is a multi-million dollar IP with millions of players all pumping money into their mobile-esque game modes such as the Yard and M.U.T. makes it all the more disappointing that the game is so unpolished and leaving players wanting more. Worse still is that this is the ONLY simulation football game available, yet Madden seems to lead with the more arcadey and microtransaction heavy M.U.T. and Yard modes. If I wanted this type of gameplay I would emulate NFL Street or Blitz.

    I think this game would be served well to go with a subscription model, You pay say $50 bucks for Madden once and they continue to improve and patch as time goes on. As a new year comes, they update rosters, and hopefully add more depth to modes such as franchise. They would still make their money from people buying packs or Spongebob pants or whatever, and leave the rest of us NOT paying $70-$100 per year for a roster update and less features. I can't recommend a purchase the way the game is now. So sad, because I have supported this franchise for literally 20 years over every other football product. It would appear as though the publishers and shareholders are more important than the gamers at this point...    … Expand

    Completely broken. Had game breaking glitches in most modes to include characters not spawning so I would fail challenges or the game crashing altogether. Terrible game.

    Madden 22 is garbage. Each mode is pretty broken and glitchy from the start. It will take some serious updates just to get it to function. The few changes they made to Franchise is equal to putting lipstick on a pig. It's fairly obvious the dev team spent most of their time squeezing more micro transactions into the game and completely failed, once again, at any actual innovation. WeMadden 22 is garbage. And while some things like home field advantage aren't bad. (not great either) the broken gameplay makes this game unplayable.

    WR's still run their route and then just stand there. DB's still morph through players to break up passes or get the pick. O line logic is still completely useless, coverage is a nightmare... I could go on and on. And most of these things could be somewhat fixed with sliders. But only one game mode actually lets you use sliders. That connected franchise. And the biggest addition to that mode isn't even available yet.

    Face of the Franchise is a joke. First off, it's connected to the yard. Making it a online based mode. So you have to be connected to the servers to play it. You can't adjust sliders. The path leading up to the draft is corny as hell. Draft logic makes zero sense. ( As a QB I was drafted number #1 to the Jaguars) No matter what you do, you are a top 3 pick. Its all smoke and mirror. The "choices" you make are meaningless. They give you a total of like 3 one question interviews, you do a few drills and play the college playoffs on the easily level. You get to the NFL and the cut scenes are cringe worthy. The broadcast team acts like you aren't even there. After you finish your first season, they still refer to you as a rookie.. It's a joke. FOF is connect Franchise with some make up to make it "look good"

    MUT is MUT. Not much changed. And I haven't even started a season mode yet. Because I'm waiting on the update. Pointless to start now, only to be forced to start over if I want scouting.

As a QB I did everything right and my reward???? I get drafted first overall by the Jags along with Trevor Lawrence who is somehow also a 1st overall pick. Awful logic.     This is easily the worst madden. Player ratings done matter. No common sense plays. All CPU Defenders are elite no matter the rating. I wouldn’t waste the money. Gameplay has hit a new low. They focus more on celebrations and the soundtrack than the gameplay and franchise mode. No comp picks or real development

    Would've gave a 0 but to be fair they did add some changes to franchise mode. Not much, but hey its something. Gameplay is the same broken animation based system. Face of franchise pretty much sucks again. If your completely new to madden sure play it and might have fun but if you played any other madden, just stick to that.

    From what I saw in the game menus, not much has changed from last year. It looks like another year of putting lipstick on a pig & releasing the same thing. One constant though in franchise - why is there no custom face to create for coaches or owners? It’s still an empty, faceless avatar for any created owner or coach (& probably the same bald, fat white guy character that steps in when a coach is fired / not replaced yet). Simply take that stupid ‘yard’ character that you make at the beginning & allow that face / character to be used… but no, that would be TOO EASY & NBA2k already does that, so god forbid EA/Madden take any notes from other successful game franchises.

    Maybe EA beefed up franchise mode, maybe they didn’t - I’m not able to play this damn thing to find out. So I’ve decided I won’t be playing… ever… & I’ve been dedicated since Madden 96… I am so disappointed & pissed off, what a disgraceful sham of a game!    … Expand

    This game isn't without its shortcomings however, and there are some things that I would love to see handled better such as overall player likeness (more face scan inclusions, updated body types, better/more realistic equipment, etc.). I would also like to see legend players included in offline rosters much like how NBA 2K or MLB the Show handles their legend players. Only being able to play with legendary players in MUT is frustrating.

    It's better than Madden 21 and while there are improvements in Franchise Mode, I feel like there could be more. And they made improvements to the gameplay. However, I honestly don't like the new home field advantage and the return of X- Factors. But overall, Madden NFL 22 is a very solid game.

    Let’s be realistic. For an annual sports franchise, it’s not necessarily practical to expect huge evolution year on year. It’s also fair to say that at a minimum, players should expect EA to deliver incremental quality of life improvements and make an effort to hone their overall experience of the game for the better. Whilst there is only so far the needle can be pushed year on year, the launch of a new Madden on next-gen systems presented EA with an opportunity to really raise the bar. That’s why it’s particularly disappointing that Madden 22 only offers stagnant content and, sadly, creative disinterest.

    Madden is as compelling as it ever was, but it can’t escape the slight feeling that things are spread a little too thin. Improvements to franchise mode are welcome and help the experience, but they are smaller than perhaps they deserve. With so many different ways to play football, it’s a little difficult to get in invested in any one game.
