The game starts very slow. I almost got bored and stopped playing a few hours in. I'm glad I continue playing. The mainline story is great. A much improved game compared to the 1st Judgement game. Yakuza series is awesome.

Personally, this game was better than the first one as the story and combat was better. I also liked the main antagonist more than the mole from judgment. I also enjoy the side content a lot more especially with the dancing and all.

RGG have knocked it out of the park yet again with possibly their best game yet. Combat has improved, the world expanded and the story is amazing.

I have a ton of thoughts, but Metacritic's character limit isn't gonna be enough for me to express all of them, so since I'll just end up frustrated with my inability to express everything I wanna express, I'll just keep it vague. As cliché as it is to say, this game has been done an abhorrent injustice by reviewers; most reviewers seem to have chalked it up as "more of the same," when in fact, just about every single aspect of the game is a radical improvement over the original. Like, the investigation stuff is is thought out a lot better, used less generously and is featured in generally better-designed and logical scenarios. Combat is hands-down the best in the series for me, with an insanely compelling skill tree to top it all off. Tedious mechanics from the original like the Keihin gang and mortal wounds are gone; mortal wounds, conversely, have turned into one of the coolest combat mechanics in all of RGG's games with the advent of the mortal reversal mechanic. Story pacing is a significant improvement as well. I still don't know if I prefer this story over Judgment's, but both are excellent in my eyes and rounded out with a phenomenal cast of characters.
To address the elephant in the room, I wanna mention that some outlets have taken umbrage with what they believe to be a controversial depiction of sexual assault. I can understand this perspective, and I don't think anyone's wrong to be so vigilant about this, but I still believe this to be primarily an overreaction. I won't speak to this in too much detail (unlike GameInformer, who outright spoiled a significant plot point relating to this), but I think that when you consider the circumstances of this plot point, and WHY it happened, then you'll most likely understand that the game isn't trying to push a specific narrative in this regard. It's really an innocuous depiction, I think, that's only offensive if you want it to make it an offensive thing.
Overall though, I love this game. It's a massive step-up from the original, with a stellar story, cast, gameplay and suite of side-content. It's a serious contender for my favorite RGG game.

The story is great, everything else - not so much.
Let's start with that, that this is the first game of the genre I play, so I can't say if it's better or worse than the other similar games.
Even though I liked the idea of the combat system that seems like Taken, I don't think it is working good. I found it hard to block/evade and in some cases even impossible, even when I was seeing

Everything feels like playing a game from ps2 times. Especially the movements, running, collisions with npcs

Many dialogs were didn't have audio. I thought it's a bug, but I realized that English audio was just not added.

Conclusion: Engaging story, but I played it on Easy so it can finish quicker.

The darkest story in the Yakuza franchise. Surely one of the best games of 2021. It completely surpassed the first Judgment game of 2018. if you love Yakuza and enjoyed Spin off Judgment a lot. Lost Judgment is a must for you. besides the incredible social criticism that the game makes to bullying.

This game and all Ryu ga gotoku's games deserve more love and support they put a huge effort on their stories " main story and the side story " and their environment I think this game deserves GOTY

Man I really wanted to love Lost Judgment. I thought Judgment was a worthy successor to the Yakuza. The combat itself is improved over judgment, with the addition of the new Snake style (which makes boss fights a bit less grindy imo). So if you are just here for the combat, you'll be happy. However, everything else is really just ok.

The story focusing on Bullying leading to suicide is an interesting take on a Yakuza story, but how it all comes together is just messy. IDK how bad bullying is in Japanese schools but how the game makes this go though Gangs, former Yakuza, and political entities feels even more convoluted than a normal Yakuza game. Its not bad, I don't think anything in this game would be called bad, just not polished or interesting as previous games are. The game adds a character to be the emotional reason for going on but she doesn't get much time at all for me to get invested in her story and it feels a bit like a cop out at times. The BBEG is also pretty one-dimensional, while other final bosses have some depth to them, this dude is just, violence can be used for good archetype and not done that well. They clearly wanted it to be as cool and deep as Kuroiwa was, but it just felt flat and kind of meaningless. There are some really cool and emotional moments but they were few and far between.

All Yakuza games use the previous games side content and world maps (Kamurocho, Ijincho, etc.) and they have varying degrees of success in making the area and content stand out against the previous entries. Lost Judgment side content at time feels like a copy/paste of Judgment, the side cases aren't really original or interesting and few of them. On the bright side, there are side cases specifically linked to the school, here si where they do make up for it, while some of the minigames associated with them get repetitive they are all fun and as good of side content Yakuza games can get.

The opening number is a banger, no karaoke is a bummer, some of the references to older games are fun without being "remember this" kind of stuff, the performances are fine nothing terrible but nothing award worthy and the game runs pretty well overall.

Honestly this game should have had another rewrite or two for this game to be really good. It takes the rock solid framework from the Yakuza series and Judgment but doesn't add enough substance for it to be a game I would recommend unless you've already beaten the rest of the mainline games.

There is no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, there is not a reason to touch this game again. Charging $60 for a game with no replay value is a cashgrab. Not to mention that the story is garbage in this game with bad voice acting. Or at least the English voice acting is bad. I recommend you wait to pick this game up until it is $15.

Actually I've played PS3 games with a lot more detailed environments, so they didn't even try. NPC models and foremost animations are horrible. The dance students behave like dead fish for example. And there are loads more of these examples through-out the entire game.

Came here just to say this... I would like my money back cause this shouldn't be allowed to be called a PS5 game. I'll probably give away or try to sell it to someone but it is with a heavy heart I would let someone else experience this garbage.

The slightly mixed quality is only a slight blight on Lost Judgment's otherwise stellar quality. It oozes style and has content that will keep players playing for potentially hundreds of hours. The story is a masterpiece of twists and turns, highlighting many issues within society. If the original game is the marker, this meets it with pride. An excellent crime thriller action game with lots of comedy and referential moments that make this one to remember.

Lost Judgment represents the unexpected return of detective/brawler Yagami and company in an even more exciting adventure that brings everything we loved in the previous instalments, and much more. Peak old-school Yakuza-like experience for those who love the more active approach to this genre.
