Bit of an odd game. If you liked Judgment, you would like Lost Judgment. Better than the first game in some aspects, noticeably worse in others. Your mileage may vary in that regard. I do think the story overall was much more intriguing than the first game.

Magnificent, it is simply fun, just like its predecessor, and it is extremely rewarding to explore and interact with the city and its inhabitants.

I really loved the theme of this game, and while the beginning might be a little slow, it quickly picks up and delivers an amazing story alongside a great combat system.

**** stealth missions with 1 detection game over mechanic, broken movement and broken take down input.
Same chimpira scum punks 1 hit-game-over you in the "stealth missions" while you can wipe hundreds of them in the town without breaking a sweat.

Also the dice n cube game sucks more than the retro arcade games.

Like the previous one, a very good game, with good graphics, cool fighting mechanics, and a beautiful landscape. Story is interesting enough, although nothing special.

The game fetches the best from the first installment and improves it. A must-play for Yakuza fans.

The game starts very slow. I almost got bored and stopped playing a few hours in. I'm glad I continue playing. The mainline story is great. A much improved game compared to the 1st Judgement game. Yakuza series is awesome.

Lost Judgement is one of those games that hit close to me, I was also a target for bullying in high school and I can understand completely the characters approach and reactions to the subject. It also tries to communicate with us that even if our institution fails to protect those as it should. It's also extremely problematic when we try to rectify those problems with our own hands, because our actions may drag others down who doesn't have anything to do with this if we try to enact justice with our own beliefs. Due Process even if it's imperfect, and sometimes fails to deliver justice to those who have been wronged, it's still the best option to give fairness to both the victim and the perpetrator.

It's a very well written game, which aboard extremely sensitive topics in modern society and isn't shy about it, my respect to the developers who had the courage to go through with it even amidst this polarized society. I will cherish and remember forever this game, it resonated with me and many others apparently. I would give an 11/10 if it was possible.

The overall experience is just so much smoother and more polished. The only point of criticism could be that the story isn't quite as amazing as Judgment's, but it is still very engaging nonetheless.

Overall, I had tons of fun with this game and I recommend it to everybody who's even vaguely into Yakuza.

Lots of improvements over Judgment. I just really dig this Japanese "Jack Reacher meets Law & Order" vibe; it's like a season of a great cop drama that you can play. The School Stories aspect can wear out its welcome, but the payoff for solving them all was incredibly satisfying. I really hope RGG keeps up with this series.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game Definitely Improves on the Gameplay from the Previous Judgement game; with Adding a 3rd NON-DLC locked Fighting Style for Yagami; Based on Counter Attacks; Removes the Lethal Damage mechanic from the previous game; and allows Yagami to Ride on a Skateboard like he did in a Cutscene from the previous game;

My Only Problem with the game is that; The Game's Final Boss; ended up being more sympathetic and had a more Compelling Argument for his Stance than The Person we're playing as; Since the Only Refute Yagami even USES; is "But What about Sawa-Sensei"; I Liked her too; But TRY to come up with a more Effective counter-argument than That; Because That's NOT Enough to get me to side with you!

I'm fan do the studio and I love first Judgement. The second one however is a big disappointment for me.
I do really like combat and I enjoyed main plot most of the time.
But let's talk about things that could be done much better: 1. School stories - as long as final outcome of the story was very nice, the rest was unpolished and leaky. - dancing club - the worst music I ever heard in

But let's talk about things that could be done much better:
    1. School stories - as long as final outcome of the story was very nice, the rest was unpolished and leaky.
    - dancing club - the worst music I ever heard in RGG studio games - being forced to dance every song 3 times pissed me off
    - girls bar - dying of boredom, forced to get to know 4 girls
    - boxing gym - that wasn't bad, but the mechanics of fighting could be done better
    - biker gang - that was nice... first 2-3 races. But then you have to race 10 more to finish this story - it was big pain for me
    - skating club - mechanics was very stiff, if you ever played any skateboarding game then you know how it should look like - I couldn't feel skateboarding here
    - mystery research club - "hey, Yamato, why don't you come visit a club, because I'm so braindead that I don't know how to use my cellphone"
    - photography, esports, casino - at least they were short
    - robotics club - the only club that I can say I fully enjoyed
    2. Repetition. In side quests or achievements like "Do something xxx times" or "Fight all characters in virtual board game". It's just artificial game lengthening.
    3. Main story was really stupid (40 year old man beating teenagers while trying to stay law oracle) or predictable sometimes (train camera evidence clearly showed where the story is going).
    4. Too many cutscences that cannot be skipped - I mean animations, when you start minigames. Also there was problem that you cannot simply restart minigames - you have to go to the main menu, then load...
    5. Stealth mechanics... terrible.

I'm really happy that some of the mechanics were improved, but they added so much content that they lack time to polish it properly. If all UX problems I mentioned were fixed I would give this game 9. Unfortunatelly after 60 hours with it I got frustrated enough to give it 6 instead.

Does not live up to the studio's (Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio) modern titles that have come out over the years. Compared to Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the game's story does not live up to the expectations you have from them.

What I Like: Story is really captivating with never a dull moment. Much better pacing than the first game. Yagami is fleshing out to be pretty badass, but still not quite Kiryu levels. Gameplay, especially combat is also much better with more depth and variety. Some of the less interesting gameplay sections like tailing a target or taking spy shots are not as prevalent in the main line, which is better for me.

What I Dislike: Some of the side characters aren't as well written in this game. Feels a bit too easy for me at times, with more handholding than previous games. For some reason, the world doesn't feel as vibrant. Eating for example is kinda pointless.

How It Stacks Up: It's Yakuza all grown up. The first Judgment didn't quite resonate with me, but this one hit all the right notes. Offers a more mature setting than Like A Dragon, and also quicker to finish. It leaves little breathing room to do side quests, but that's how I like to play Yakuza games (mainline first, then all the open world stuff in Premium Adventure mode). For people new to Yakuza, personally I'd still recommend Like A Dragon, or even Yakuza 0 over this, unless you're really into detective stories.

The slightly mixed quality is only a slight blight on Lost Judgment's otherwise stellar quality. It oozes style and has content that will keep players playing for potentially hundreds of hours. The story is a masterpiece of twists and turns, highlighting many issues within society. If the original game is the marker, this meets it with pride. An excellent crime thriller action game with lots of comedy and referential moments that make this one to remember.

Lost Judgment represents the unexpected return of detective/brawler Yagami and company in an even more exciting adventure that brings everything we loved in the previous instalments, and much more. Peak old-school Yakuza-like experience for those who love the more active approach to this genre.
