    While it doesn't quite reach the unsettling heights of its predecessors, Little Nightmares III translates its signature horror into a compelling cooperative experience, even if it feels more self-conscious and 'gamey' in the process.

    I went into the game expecting a fun little adventure in a world of nightmares. In reality, I got an irritating exercise in frustration that eventually drove me to put down the controller for good. Little Nightmares 3 is a misleading title, as my experience with the game was effectively one enormous, hours-long nightmare.

    Little Nightmares 3 is not a bad game by any means. As noted, the art and sound design teams both did a splendid job, and I hope to learn more about Low and Alone in the DLC, too. The game just felt somewhat overshadowed by the creativity of its predecessors, offering a decent but oddly familiar experience.
