Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash is a game full of lights, aimed at fans who want to try out their favorite characters from the series. It has good ideas regarding the presentation and adaptation, but it fell short in game modes and content. The best way to play it is through online mode, since it does not have a local mode.

I wanted to love Cursed Clash as a big fan of the franchise, but it feels rushed, like something to capitalize on the Jujutsu Kaisen hype rather than making a gaming debut that the franchise deserved and something to stand the test of time. It’s not a bad game, but it could use work. Unless you’re a diehard Jujutsu Kaisen fan, you won’t be satisfied paying full price for Cursed Clash, so for many, this might be one to revisit when it appears on sale down the line.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash offers a unique and original two-on-two combat system, focused on cooperative play, but presented in an unattractive packaging with little love for the license.

If all you’re looking for is fan service, I guess Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash provides it, though it adds almost nothing to the established lore or characters. If you’re primarily interested in Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash as an anime-inspired fighting game, look elsewhere. A very short story mode, no 1v1 matches, poor design choices, and an overall lack of polish more often than not overshadow some occasionally fun combat.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash is a very lazy attempt to introduce new players to the anime and an insult to fans. While online modes can be fun, I simply couldn’t get over an uninspiring battle system and how the story was retold through static images.

Because of the disappointing presentation and lack of engaging modes, Jujutsu Kaisen Curshed Clash is difficult to recommend to anyone other than the most invested JJK veterans. While the characters and ultimate attacks can look great with well-constructed animations, the gameplay fails to be addicting enough to entice players to keep coming back. The franchise is an incredible vehicle for a great fighting game, but unfortunately that potential has not been realized in Jujutsu Kaisen Curshed Clash.

In the moment when Jujutsu Kaisen is scoring all the Anime Awards, the players get only half-baked game. It Works at start but fades so quickly with poor execution, lack of modes and empty arenas. Not even 15 fighters can save this combat game.

The game disappoints with its lack of content and subpar combat mechanics, failing to capture the essence of the anime despite its appealing character roster. Additionally, its online-focused approach limits its longevity, making it a hard sell even for die-hard fans.

Unfortunately, Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash is a quite disappointing fighting game with a very derivative and problematic combat system. Moreover, the succinct storytelling means that the game seems to be aimed only for the anime series fans and no one else.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash is very much a missed opportunity to capitalise on a popular franchise. It’s a brawler that fails to get the most important thing right – making its combat dynamic and interesting – and also makes a litany of other errors along the way. And so, while some die-hard fans may eke some enjoyment out of it, we can’t really recommend it at all.

The best thing about Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash is the fact it’s one of the very few video games based on the renowned anime franchise. The rest of it is mediocre, dull, stiff and repetitive. A few solid moments in the pile of sad and poor content makes this a hard game to recommend, but an easy one not to.

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash is not at all up to the manga or the anime. It could have been a good adaptation if it had benefited from care, ideas and consistency in its development. He does not honor his genre nor the manga he is supposed to adapt. The rendering is catastrophic, embarrassing and shameful for any lover of JJK.

If all you wanna do is smash buttons and beat up spirits from the anime, Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash is serviceable. That’s about it. If you’re looking for any more depth in any way, the game simply does not have it. Combat is overly simple, and when you try to make it anything more, you just get thumped for your efforts. The support characters actively hinder you. The story is doled out in the worst way I can think of. The online is barren when it’s not lagging horribly. It’s just a flat, tiresome game that is only good for some mindless action for those absolutely itching for anything to do with the anime.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash is unfortunately cursed trash. Its shallow, unsatisfying combat system fails to capture the balletic brilliance of the anime and manga’s striking skirmishes, and its disjointed single player campaign is unlikely to be enjoyed by franchise faithfuls or prospective new fans. Given the enormous popularity of Gege Aktusami’s series, it’s frankly unfathomable how badly Bandai Namco has dropped the ball here.

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash is a failed cash-in on an incredibly popular manga and anime franchise, that doesn't seem to understand what makes that franchise so popular to begin with.
