not a bad, game, not a great game. it's unique, i'll give it that. good change pf pace from the standard "it's just you and a flashlight" walking sim horror that's all too common for the genre these days, i'd rate it a bit higher but the weapon switching is a total liability. there's no quick switch, so you have to hold down l1, use the d pad to scroll to the weapon you want and thennot a bad, game, not a great game. it's unique, i'll give it that. good change pf pace from the standard "it's just you and a flashlight" walking sim horror that's all too common for the genre these days, i'd rate it a bit higher but the weapon switching is a total liability. there's no quick switch, so you have to hold down l1, use the d pad to scroll to the weapon you want and then select that weapon. and do it again to switch back. this is a ps5 era game, there's no excuse for this kind of poor mechanics in games these days. I really appreciate what the developer was trying to do, and was executed ( i believe) as well as they could with the budget and team they had. The visuals were nice, the horror was good in the beginning but fizzled out about halfway through, and the story was very interesting (ultimately ending with me not really interested). The gameplay was pretty good and the variety of areas was fun.

In Sound Mind is an atmospheric adventure with a decent plot and cool puzzles, that suffers from low budget and some minuscule gameplay issues.

In Sound Mind is a solid psychological horror game with an interesting gimmick based around tapes that allows for a variety of environments and puzzles. The story doesn't quite fulfil its potential and the frame rate can be terrible but for fans of first person horror, which is light on scares but with a decent range of puzzles then you'll certainly get something out of this.

Set-piece-driven micro-stories and interesting puzzles shine in this evocative first-person horror. Poor gunplay and linearity aside, it’s a haunted headtrip worth taking. [Issue#7, p.85]
