    I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. Having watched the main HP movies, I thought this was a great time. If you have not seen them or read the books, you may not like it.

    The game is well named as the best thing about it is Hogwarts castle. If you are looking for the experience of being a student in the Harry Potter universe then this game does a great job of giving it to you. The plot, and the surrounding countryside, are very much secondary to the fun of exploring the densely detailed castle.

    There is a ton of content in the game, with the downside that the second half can drag a bit as you spend much more time out in highlands, and the whole thing loses some of its wizard school focus.

    Overall I spent around 90 hours in the game, which was way more than I ever intended.    … Expand

    I know nothing about Harry Potter but I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I'm big into puzzles, and this game is majorly puzzle driven, so that's one reason I loved it. Also, the sense of mystery and discovery inside Hogwarts is amazing - you could spent 50 hours in Hogwarts alone discovering all its charms. Great story, great characters and great side quests too. It doesn't get much betterI know nothing about Harry Potter but I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I'm big into puzzles, and this game is majorly puzzle driven, so that's one reason I loved it.     Castle and map is great, I was imagining the combat was going to feel bad, but no, it feels amazing and easy to conquer. I've played about 60 hours, and the story was decent enough. I don't care what the people who believe JK Rowling is a bad person say about this game, because she's already a zillionaire and so it makes no difference, and all of those people are just ridiculous enough to believe cancel culture and not actually do any research for themselves. I honestly think that the little visual glitches and stuff at launch are fine due to the fact that this, yet again, is Avalanche, so it's going to have some issues, and since there is a site dedicated to report bugs on the first page of the game's website, they should absolutely have all the bugs fixed within the first month with ease. I think that if the game gets a nice dlc to build playerbase, then it can keep that already massive playerbase for even longer than any other open world games. For a massive fan of the franchise (the books in particular) it is a dream come true and I recommend it to anyone who is, or ever has been a fan of the books/movies (but mainly the books since that's what they based the castle design off of).

    The story is compelling! The combat/spell casting is really good! the aesthetics is mesmerizing! The game takes you on a rollercoaster of an immersive experience from start to finish. Hopefully we'll see a DLC in the near future.

    Jogo muito bonito, conseguiram fazer muito bem toda a parte visual, você se sente em Hogowarts, porém a história é muito chata, combate repetitivo, poucas opções de magias, pouca variedade de inimigos, acredito que o próximo jogo terão um cuidado melhor nessa parte pois deixou muito a desejar

    I am a bit of a HP fan and so my investment in the universe is not an issue and I have to say that the first three or four hours of this game are amazing. Hogwarts itself is built with loving detail and has so many secrets that finding them all is a game in itself.     I found the controls were good, but some targeting issues were annoying. Flying the broom is not exactly intuitive and there were some audio issues and some missions became uncompleteable for some reason (TBF lots of these were solved with updates). The voice acting is sometimes so cringy that I was embarrassed for the devs.

    The main problem is repetition. You do (essentially) the same mission each time. Combat is the same and does not evolve. The enemies become magic 'sponges' later on - but essentially stay the same. You don't really 'attend' school and spend most of your time truanting doing fetch quests. I would have liked to learn my magic in classes, to evolve it or change it. It would have been nice for the school day to dictate the missions. Half the fun of Harry Potter was sneaking out after class and getting up to mischief - that doesn't happen here.

    I was really impressed with this game. The exploration is fun, the combat is really good, and the story fits pretty well into the Harry Potter universe. Wandering around the castle and the surrounding villages is a lot of fun, and the side quests provide a nice bit of insight into the wizard. I only wish that the in game choices you make throughout the game had more effect on the gameI was really impressed with this game.     Before sharing my thoughts on Hogwarts Legacy, I want to make clear that I'm not a Harry Potter fan or anything like that, I only played the game because it looked very intriguing and I wanted to give it a try.
    I got to say though, after finishing my playthrough of Hogwarts Legacy, the game was not what I expected at all.

    I got to say though, after finishing my playthrough of Hogwarts Legacy, the game was not what I expected at all.
    While the story's premise sounds decent on paper, the execution is... really bad; the vast majority of the main quests are either fetch quests and filler, making the pacing pretty much non-existent, and the story itself is filled with laughable amount of conveniences. Also, having to level up by doing chores in order to unlock main missions is tedious.
    Same goes for the characters; they're just very bland for the most part, and unfortunately, same goes for the gameplay as well; it's just not fun, the combat is very easy and completely mindless, the RPG elements are very shallow, and it doesn't help that the enemy and dungeon variety is lacking. At least some spells are kind of unique and useful in different ways.
    However, the visuals are amazing for sure and the presentation is very good too! There are some technical issues at times, but the game looks beautiful nonetheless.
    As for the side-content, Hogwarts Castle is definitely the highlight of the game despite feeling a bit repetitive; it looks impressive and it has many collectibles and puzzles to find, while the rest of the world feels empty and boring.

    Cons:
    - Horrible story and uninteresting characters

    The story is not well structured, the plot and its flow do not make sense, on the one hand you learn basic magic in class and on the other hand you are the only one who can research the ancient magic and determine the future of the magic world...
    The side missions are not very interesting and repetitive.
    The character development is not deep enough, the game uses RPG elements with leveling up and equipment, but getting the equipment is completely random and does not depend on the size of the mission, even though the game deals a lot with good magic versus dark magic, it has no meaning for the character, you have the option to choose in the dialogues whether to be Good or bad character but it has no effect on the game and the type of magic you can use.
    The option of building the chamber of secrets is unnecessary, the option of the potions and planting the plants are unnecessary, and use the need to wait a real time until they were ready, which is a waste of time.    … Expand

You'd think we get a variety of monsters to beat up knowing the Harry Potter world,This game has good customization and the world of Hogwarts is a very interesting world to explore. The combat system is decent but lacks depth. Just imagine how biblical this game would be with Team Deathmatch, but the developers were too cheap and lazy to add multiplayer. There is a lack of enemy variety. You'd think we get a variety of monsters to beat up knowing the Harry Potter world, but it's just spiders after freaking spiders. The physics are complete garbage. I had a giant monster ram towards me, and it barely sent me flying 2 feet. Even a golf cart can push me much further than that. The greedy developers are joining the trend of charging an extra $10 to PS5 owners for absolutely no reason. $70 and the facial animations look identical to Life is Strange 1 during dialogue. That's embarrassing and pathetic.

    The story is terrible. The side quests are awful. Not even an hour into the game, and the lazy developers were already making excuses for lack of Quidditch. You expect me to believe that safety was more of a priority in 1890s than 1990s? No, tell them the real reason why Quidditch is missing. It's because the developers were too greedy and lazy for that. The missions are boring and repetitive. For a game full of magic, there is nothing to do in the open world. The soundtrack in this game is inferior to the Harry Potter films, not to mention that half of the soundtrack sounds like it was taken straight from a National Geographic documentary. This game suffers from technical issues. $70 PS5 game and there is buffering when opening doors. There are lighting issues. The flying controls for the broomstick are horrible.

    As I mentioned earlier, there's no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, this game will go back to the shelf and collect dust. Charging $70 for a game with no replay value is a cash grab. I should be guaranteed online multiplayer at that outrageous price. Despite the anti-SJWs cheerleading for this game, it's woke trash. I'll give you one example: UK Hogwarts had way more diversity in the 1890s than it did in the 1990s. Sure, this game triggered SJWs but that doesn't make it anti-woke. I'm sick to death of anti-SJWs turning a blind eye to blatant wokeness in games, just because the internet loves it. They denied the obvious wokeness in DS Remake and GOWR too. Yet, they were quick to call Saints Row and GTA 6 woke. You can't just cherry pick what's woke, based on what grudges you hold or games you enjoy. Literally every AAA game studio has made it very clear in 2020 that they've gone woke. If that's not clear enough, just wait how woke they'll become next year. You're giving SJW developers what they want by ignoring the wokeness. I would recommend this game until it is around $15-$20.

I have all the receipts of my games in purchase date order and I know these mods are toy-collecting millennials thinking they're special for not liking COD and sports games, so it's pretty easy to know which reviews they're deleting. You think you can stealthily remove a review? Think again. I originally gave this a 3, but then I gave it a 1 when I noticed the day 1 patch was mandatory with internet.     This game is boring like hell. Sure, spells are nice, audio awsome, but this open world have almost nothing to offer. Puzzles are pathetic, specialy this from Merlin. Side and main quest are not intresting. I started skipping dialogues very fast. Besides this game is not LOGIC at all. I think it's only for kids from 8 years old to 14 and for Harry Potter ultra fans. My note its 6/10.

    but everthing else ... the grafics, sound, immersion... you just feel like u are in the harry potter universe... just great.. best hgarry potter game so far... bye a lot .. and the story is really good to :)

    It's one of the most boring games I've ever played in my life. The character design lacks creativity, the sound is good, and the world is beautiful in some places. The puzzles are enjoyable, but that's about it. The rest is just dull. The story is slow-paced and the tasks are boring.

    As a Harry Potter fan this game is everything that you dreamt of. It still lacks of some fun gameplay and story but the world builder is so lifeful and magical.

    The game is pretty enjoyable, especially at the end with all Forbidden Curses. The plot is also okay, still, I liked side quests more (lines of closest friends). A side quest with your shop is one of the best :) But I didn't like the open world at all, those magic trials are really annoying + the activities are boring. It is a good game overall

    A slow starting game but once it gets going it hooks you in. However it has a game braking bug where progress is not saved and I'm unable to finish the game. I just lost 5 hours of progress and lost will to play anymore... Shame.... I'm playing on ps5... Shame... Would have been a 9...

    A love letter to Harry Potter fans. The game is rich with details and winks to the movies and books; a very enjoyable experience to just wander the Hogwarts castle or the little hamlets across the map. That being said, there are "flavor chatter" that is heavily repeated all the time, and can be annoying.The game could be a little more polished, and has several bugs to be fixed.

The art direction within the school is truly remarkable, capturing the essence and magic of Hogwarts perfectly. The combat mechanics were surprisingly enjoyable, proving that fighting with a wand can be incredibly entertaining. It exceeded my expectations!

    While the story may not be mind-blowing, it is definitely satisfying. I've discovered so much about Hogwarts through this game, and it has truly expanded my knowledge and appreciation for the Wizarding World. With all its fantastic elements, I wouldn't be surprised if Hogwarts Legacy becomes a strong contender for the title of "Game of the Year" in 2023.    … Expand

    I quit the game after about 30 hours. I wasn't interested in the story. I didn't get attached to the characters because they were all ugly. The action was monotonous and boring. I didn't like the design of the animals and didn't enjoy raising them. The game never froze, but there was always a sense of insecurity in the action, such as getting stuck when there were obstacles.

The story is just okay and none of the characters you meet have much depth to them as well. The villain is decent, but nothing really special;.     I haven't played a game this good since Red dead redemption 2. The story is great, and some of the side stories are even better than the Ranrok story.     Absolutely stunning world with an amazing story, although some of the companion questlines don't feel as well fleshed out as others. Combat is fun but controls somewhat clunky. The content outside of the main story was not very entertaining. The gap between beating the final boss and finishing the main quest line was so tiring I almost put the game down before finishing it.

    With the plethora of open-world video games flooding the market, they're becoming increasing cookie cutter, with most adopting Ubisoft's formula of icon-filled maps and side stories to complete. My biggest gripe with these games, though, is how often they feel empty. Even Breath of the Wild, though unanimously praised for its innovation, didn't have a great "open world." The bulk of interesting map points are tied to aesthetically copy/pasted temples and simple puzzles for minimally rewarding Korok seeds; but this is just to highlight how special it is when an open world game makes the world feel truly realized, and that's probably Hogwarts Legacy's biggest strength.

    Exploring the castle grounds and its surrounding areas always feels rewarding and interesting, and it's helped by the uniquely rich world of the Harry Potter universe. As someone who's seen the movies but never really got "into" the whole franchise, I was entranced by all the flora and fauna, all the characters' and their stories, all the background details, and of course all the cool spells you can learn.

    Hogwarts Legacy's combat plays like a spellcasting class in Dark Souls, without the tremendous challenge. You lock on to opponents, hit them with combos utilizing your various spells like Incendio to light them on fire or Accio to yank them towards you, and dodge roll or parry their attacks. At its core, HL's combat is simple but once you start unlocking Talents, you can really tailor it to your playstyle. Luckily, despite the late game becoming a bit repetitive, utilizing talents keeps the combat feeling fresh and consistently fun, even if it becomes diminishing returns after a certain point.

    The story is intriguing, but it's clear that the game is meant to be played by a younger audience as well. It doesn't go anywhere super controversial or interesting beyond its initial story, but the cast that comprises both the main story and its side quests are all fun and engaging, adding to the beautifully realized world of Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, etc.

    Graphically, the game really shines and while it likely won't contend with Horizon or The Last of Us for truly mind-blowing, it's incredible how real the world and its inhabitants feel considering how fanciful and magical they all are. You'll get the usual uncanny valley in some facial animations and often hear the same voice lines over and over as you traverse the world, but these are minor gripes for what otherwise feels like a lived-in universe with gorgeous foliage, skyboxes, and of course all the bombastic special effects when the magic starts flying.

    Hogwarts Legacy is a win-win: it's the ultimate Harry Potter experience for those who got into the franchise while also being a great introduction to the universe for total newbies. Even without the HP knowledge, it's a fantastic, dense open-world experience that feels as fun as it is to watch and listen. Once you feel the groove in combat, it's hard not to smirk when you take down a troll or an evil wizard with a thunderous bolt of lightning or disarming them and beating them with their own weapons.     – Collectibles has no reason. Balloons are flying around Hogwarts just so you can fly through it, and nobody has pushed a stone for a hundred years so that you can come, push it and solve a puzzle.
    – The world feels very static and artificial. Filled with dozens of enemies for you to kill.
    – A lot of chore activities: selling tons of gear, brewing potions, taking care of your garden and "rescuing" animals. Takes a lot of time in game.

    Overall, pretty good game, but I've played many better implementations of this open world formula. The main selling point is the Harry Potter theme, but it does it very well.    … Expand

Alles wirkt bekannt und vertraut und die Erkundung hat bei mir in Summe wohl 20+ Stunden verschlungen. Durch die Filme hat man stets den Eindruck man kennt sich hier aus und war schon öfters vor Ort. Auch Orte wie Hogameade wurden mit viel Liebe zum Detail entworfen. Sobald sich das Spiel aber über diese Orte hinaus entwickelt verfliegt dieser Zauber etwas und man taucht in eine doch etwas leere und öde Open-World ein, die stets den Eindruck macht austauschbar zu sein.

    Die Geschichten rund um die Hauptquest sind ganz gut erzählt allerdings ohne die ganz großen Highlights. Die nebenquests allerdings wirken oft sehr einfallslos und sind eher beschäftigungstherapie. Das Kampfsystem macht Spaß, jedoch auch hier ist nach etwa der Hälfte des Spiels der Zauber etwas verflogen und man erwischt sich immer wieder die selben Tastenkombinationen zu drücken.

    In Summe überwiegt aber der Spaß den ich am erkunden hatte und die Zeit, in der mich das Spiel in die Welt von Harry Potter eintauchen lies. Klammert man dies aus, wäre es wohl allerdings ein höchstens durchschnittliches Open-World Spiel gewesen.    … Expand

    Pros: successfully made an immersive magic world. As a HP fan, it was enjoyable playing in the world that used to exist in the books and movies.

    Cons: combat gets repetitive, enemy variety is limited, many of them are just the same enemies with different costumes (feels like one of those Ubisoft 3A games)

    The classes aren't so bad if they broke it up with some action, but this game has waaaay too much dialogue without action. I had to Google the last boss which looks good because I cannot continue to do the same task for so many more hours to get there.

    There's are so many opportunity to introduce interesting fights in the game but the devs just end it with no action. Horrible.

    Combat is decent but kinda slow, problem is you never get to use it. The open world has basically 2 enemies. Some dog thing that dies instantly from any spell and the soldier guys. I vendored all my gear that I found to try to get the spells because the game wants me to do annoying tasks to get the spells. You don't need the gear because you can kill the enemies 10 lvls above you.

    and this is a minor thing but you can't explore all the house dorms in a single playthrough to enter any of the houses you have to at least play the beginning of the game 4 times to see every House dorm, but the good news is that every House does have a mission exclusive to them kind of its a segment of the main story that takes place early on and is different per house.

    to get the platinum it took me about 57 hours with 54 Hours being in the playthrough where I got all the collectibles and the last 3 getting the final 3 trophies that require you to reach a certain stage of the game in every house.    … Expand

    Look, I’m a big harry potter fan. With that in mind, I can say that this is the best game I have ever played. Even if you are not a HP fan, this game deserves your attention. Beautiful open world, great story and an amazing combat. For me this is a blend of an almost perfect franchise and an almost perfect game. Give it a try.

They have no impact on the game and this includes your house. They have no impact on the story in any way really.     A huge minus is a complete lack of logic when it comes to in-game morality - you can choose to learn unforgivable curses but if you choose not to your character will be much weaker. You can cast Avada Kedavra as much as you like and it is really powerful, but the game does not punish you in any way for using those curses, there's no morality system of any kind. The NPCs also do not response to you being esentially a dark wizard. This translates to a fact that you are a teenage student and yet you slaughter your enemies by the hundreds - literally killing them, not stunning or putting to sleep - you murder them, a teenage studnet at Hogwarts... and the game does not acknowledge it in any way - it is a huge immersion breaker.
    Another big downside is how NPCs approach you as a player - everyone is so nice to you and polite, it feels more like a children's fairy tale rather than a beliveble world. Paired togather with the whole curses system and killing mentioned above, it makes for a chaotic mixture of an unbelievable world.

    A big plus is satisfying animation when it comes to collectables and beasts. But it gets repeatable after w while.

    The ending is incredibly boring and predictable as it leaves you wiht a complete lack of satistaftion.

    In the end I would not return to this game as it is to big and gets boring after a while. Plus there are no real choices to be made so you would not see anything new with a second playthrough.    … Expand

    The game is fantastic. My only gripe is that it doesn't hold much replayability after you beat it. I wasn't too keen on 100% it either. But I definitely did enjoy my time with it.

    Very enjoyable game. the climate of the books and movies is definitely here and the combat and all the spells are very fluid and very satisfying. Sadly the story is one of the things that i will forget very soon with expectations of 2 quests. another complain is that this game could be much much more than it is right now. still i recommend to every fan of potter and any magical worlds

    In short, it is a virtual museum. Apart from the plot, there is absolutely nothing to do in the game, optional quests are not interesting, rewards are not interesting, there is no RPG component. Just a beautiful picture. I barely made it through the game to the end.

    This game is incredible, they really nailed the feeling of being a student in Hogwarts. The combat is very fun it's different than I expected and takes some getting use to. Story has been really good so far, the main thing that keeps pulling me back though is this world it's so magical with so many cool puzzles and things to find.

    Great game for a 14 years old who never played an open world I guess, but this is plain, soulles like other Ubisoft games. Disappointed, even the story is meh.

    Collage for Harry Potter fans, cash-grab for the uneducated player...

    Pour moi , les Graphismes , le gameplay et la diversité des quêtes sont les points forts , sans compter l immense personnalisation au niveau cosmétique . Pour la personnalisation du personnage , peut mieux faire mais ca reste très correcte . j'ai hâte que la suite sorte

    - Some of the voice actors were so cringe. It's like they were pulling characters from the nerds in Canis Canem Edit but with none of the humour or self awareness.
    - The room of requirement was not required very much for me. The animals were an interesting idea but did not feel fleshed out enough. It seems like an awful long winded route to get feathers and other consumable ingredients from them when any other game would just have you pick these up in the wild. It would be different if the animals themselves gave you some form of skill/perk/upgrade/buff rather than a feather or hair to use to upgrade your gear.
    -The gear numbers etc meant nothing to me I just kept changing to the highest numbered gear and felt no difference throughout the game.


    The story I found myself skipping a lot of cutscenes. As much as I love harry potter, the story didn't cut it for me and found it a bit convoluted. Firstly focusing on goblins and you instantly know who the final boss will be but then it goes off on tangents and you start following another main story and you think oh ok where is this going and then its like they forgot the goblins were there and had to rush then back in at the end. The gameplay is the main draw for me. The combat feels fresh for the first half of the game but doesn't add much else towards the end. The world is well crafted with a lot of interesting places to explore and recognise, many areas are created to look like the films while many others have new original takes on them. I can't say they're an improvement, especially the areas with the classical music playing, I find them pretty annoying because it never ends.

    I wish there were more side quests and with hints to lore rather than some of the mundane ones we got.
    I wish there was more to do other than the story and side quests. I think quidditch is the obvious answer but of course we are getting a separate game for that so it's like we can't expect an open world Harry Potter game to include quidditch anymore.

    I enjoyed the game for the most part and would recommend it especially to any Harry potter fan but there are some drawbacks to the experience.    … Expand

    Hogwarts Legacy has a great character design and could have had a great story too but the story is not so strong. the gameplay feels great and exploration is so entertaining. visually its great and Hogwarts castle is so detailed.

    It's been a decade since we've had a full Potterverse game, but the wait has been well worth it. Hogwarts Legacy gets just about everything right, with its involving storyline and myriad of main and side quests. Perhaps its finest feature though is Hogwarts itself, providing as much joy in just exploring the halls as performing set tasks. We doubt a single Harry Potter fan will be disappointed. We certainly weren't.
