I'm gonna keep this short and simple. This game is utter garbage. Mediocre gameplay, little to no progression, ugly art style, and full of scummy microtransactions. Some of these skins can cost upwards of $25. It's obvious that this game was made so epic can make some easy cash. DO NOT PLAY.

Whether you like the battle royale genre or fighting a variety of monsters in hordes, this game includes it. I personally like Save the World more, but many like battle royale. PS5 looks and runs a lot better than PS4 Pro or standard PS4. This is also the first time Save the World runs at 60fps on consoles (if you don't include XSX)

I wasn't too familiar with the game before trying it. I heard a lot of negative things, but decided to give it a try for myself. I absolutely love this game! It runs like a dream at 120 fps. The gameplay is addictive. I love the colorful world and sense of humor. Battle Royale is a total adrenaline rush! I love completing quest for xp and rewards.

Terrible game. Gunplay is clunky, building mechanic is out of place and trash, community is garbage. Don't play this garbage, play Apex Legends instead.

When Chapter 2 Season 7 (v17.00) arrives next week, Fortnite on PC will receive upgraded visuals! While running “Epic” graphics settings on a machine that meets system requirements, you’ll be able to enjoy new and enhanced effects plus improved postprocessing features and shadow quality.

CHANGES TO EPIC AND HIGH SETTINGS
Starting with Chapter 2 Season 7, if you play with your “Quality Presets” option set to Epic, you’ll notice that both Battle Royale and Creative modes benefit from improved Storm and cloud effects, as well as enhanced simulations for smoke and liquid. It is a waste of your time and money. The game is alienating to new comers and just not the same as it used to be. The repetitive gameplay isn't aiding this game anymore either. As the battle royale genre is fading away, this is one of the games scarring its name. Do not play anymore. Not worth your time.

I didn't know what to expect, but WOW: complete and utter disappointment. Tl;dr: there are no tutorials or explanations besides random "tips" during the match, every single thing in the game—from menus to character designs to animations—looks horrible and poorly-done, and I get the very strong impression the entire game is nothing more than a lifeless cash-grab. Tl;dr: there are no tutorials or explanations besides random "tips" during the match, every single thing in the game—from menus to character designs to animations—looks horrible and poorly-done, and I get the very strong impression the entire game is nothing more than a lifeless cash-grab. It's as if someone took the spirit of the Emoji Movie and put that into a battle royale game.

Story time: my partner—a pretty competent and consistent online FPS player, including another, better battle royale franchise (that shall remain unnamed)—decided to get Fortnite on a whim and play it. I watched this atrocity unfold next to them. The opening cutscene had an Iron Man knockoff (complete with the shots of the pilot inside the helmet looking at holographic screens) and a couple other clichés that somehow neither explained anything nor made me care to find out. Never mind that this is our first time downloading or starting the game ever and no exposition was provided.

The graphics and visuals were cartoonish—but not in a good way. This continued through the various menu screens, including their blatantly Netflix-esque display for the game modes. Again: no explanation or tutorial is provided and we couldn't find one. No descriptions of the characters, all of whom look like they're marketed towards the 10-14 y/o range. I cannot overstate how DULL everything looks and feels.

My partner picked a solo battle royale mode (one with 100 players and no teams). Still no tutorial. They jumped off the dropship and started looking for things to do. Random chests and discoveries earned XP (that is not explained), there were random and poorly-animated animals, and so many items (that are not explained at all, including HOW TO USE THEM). After 15 minutes without even seeing another player, marveling at the subpar character movements, and exploring the literally colorful yet figuratively lifeless and massive world in silence—there's no music??—my partner decided to just wait in the final eye of the storm (also not explained). My partner only saw three other players, defeated them all. The last two players happened to be the final two other players in the entire match.

That's right: my partner won their 100-person first match ever. They did not know over half of the controls, including how to use typically essential items (ex: shields). This should not be possible. The entire time, I was in shock that a game this popular could look so fake and uninspired. I then started writing this.

If you have standards or tastes or even just value your time, look elsewhere for entertainment. I'm disappointed that people spend money on microtransactions for this abomination.

I say it first. I can't enjoy this game; it was mediocre. I know a lot of kids play and like this game, but for me...

Fortnite on PS5 is an improvement with a lovely 4K resolution and useful and accurate haptic feedback. Activity Cards help players get to the Battle Royale mode they want easily, jumping in quickly without wasting a moment. Adaptive Triggers disadvantage you in Battle Royale but are a nice addition in Save The World. Fortnite is still the same game, albeit with some nice quality of life changes on Sony's new console.
