Aug 19, 2024Earth Defense Force 6 is a big and loud culmination of everything that the series had to offer up until now. If the game feels a bit pricey, then just wait for the sale. And if you have an itch to kill some bugs right about now, then just buy one of the previous games, they are pretty good as well.

Aug 11, 2024Earth Defence Force is like the conventionally unattractive partner you experimented with in your youth. They were so grateful for your attention, and in turn, really knew how to show their appreciation. A genuine guilty pleasure of the kind that you might be a bit sheepish to introduce to friends because they buck the trend of traditional beauty (and they just sound a bit weird). But goddamn it, you grew from having indulged the relationship with the ugly duckling. It’s great coming back to that partner as I settle into adulthood. They don’t give a shit about how they look, are mostly stable, have a pleasant demeanour, and still aim to please by exploding all over my jorts.

Jul 30, 2024Earth Defense Force 6 delivers the campy series’ largest, silliest adventure yet, with all the usual jank and a little too much repetition.
-
Jul 30, 2024It’s the same old EDF in terms of graphics, gameplay, and the swarm of (mostly intentional) bugs but online co-op and a mountain of content means it still holds a special charm.
-
Jul 26, 2024The biggest EDF yet manages to provide simple ridiculous fun despite its lack of polish and some gameplay hiccups.
-
Jul 25, 2024Earth Defense Force 6 feels more like Earth Defense 5.5, what with it being so similar to its predecessor. There are some welcome tweaks to various features, however, and along with some new enemies and more missions than ever, it makes for the best entry in the series yet. We just hope the inevitable Earth Defense Force 7 is a bit more adventurous.

Jul 25, 2024Earth Defense Force 6 is everything I expected it to be, which is both a blessing and a curse. Sandlot has no intention of shaking up its B-movie arcade shoot ‘em-up formula, and I’m not complaining, but when there is obvious room for ambitious expansion that wouldn’t harm the moment-to-moment joy of mowing down giant insects and evil aliens, I struggle to figure out why the developer is so stuck in its ways. I’ll always love this series, but maybe it’s time for a change?
-
Jul 25, 2024It’s hard to say much new about an EDF game at this point, especially when the sequels are so iterative. Are you into shooting giant bugs? Do you want to laugh at how ridiculous everything is and find yourself getting embarrassingly into its dialogue-driven story? Then Earth Defense Force 6 is for you, and you should check it out. Otherwise, you won’t have your mind changed as this is repetitive schlock that is fun but nothing groundbreaking.

Jul 24, 2024Earth Defense Force 6 is more Earth Defense Force. It delivers everything longtime Earth Defense Force fans could want, though people that haven't been impressed by the series so far are not going to care for this entry either. Anyone hoping for Earth Defense Force 6 to take the EDF franchise in bold new directions may be disappointed, but it's sure to please longtime fans, and it's a great option for those needing a new co-op game to play with friends.

Aug 7, 2024There's certainly some fun to be had in EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 6 but don't expect it to offer much noteworthy when you compare it to the previous couple of entries in the series. Playing it did make me excited for WORLD BROTHERS 2, though.

Jul 31, 2024Earth Defense Force 6 is a joke that outstays its welcome. The writing definitely has its moments of brilliance, but it tries so hard to be “so bad it’s good” that it just ends up bad.
