FC24 doesn’t miss the Fifa branding at all and there’s endless enjoyment to be had here, both solo or with pals either on the couch or online.

Continuous delivery that maintains the bases of previous editions, without making revolutionary changes but adding some new features that are quite promising. If Ultimate Team is well managed throughout the year, the mode could provide extra variety that was probably lacking in other seasons and allow us to enjoy it in different ways.

Improvements across the board see the FIFA era left behind. Gameplay to sate purists meets fun fantasy elements – like teams featuring men and women. [Issue#33, p.90]

EA Sports FC 24 can be considered the perfect start for the next chapter in EA's franchise, as the game improves upon the foundations left by FIFA 23 while also adding a few game-changing and truly welcome features. Being on the pitch never felt better!

What EA has done with its relaunched soccer title is define the series going forward. EA SPORTS FC 24 shows off what sports games are capable of on the field by creating unique circumstances boiled down to an individualistic experience while adding even more stadium and broadcast atmosphere for a series that needed a change. The tech has always been there for this series, and this year what has been added has all been put together to create one of the best sports games in recent times. The gameplay is satisfying and it doesn’t get redundant. There are a good bit of modes to dive into, but besides more in-depth improvements to each mode, no major modes have been added. The current state of playing online is frustrating, and hopefully this can get resolved. From a gameplay perspective, the only improvement needs to come from controller vibration feedback being made on contact. I feel like the DualSense is being underutilized here and while I understand it’s not American football, some of these collisions deserve more than just a vague and light rumble.

The most playable FIFA – oops! – in years. This is an encouraging new start for the EA Sports FC franchise, with Ultimate Team innovations truly standing out, and PlayStyles adding a smart new wrinkle to the on-turf action.

EA Sports FC 24 features technology that improves the game beyond what's been seen before, making the beautiful game even more appealing.

EA SPORTS FC 24 is not a revolution in the football world, but an evolution of what we have seen in past FIFA seasons. A mammoth amount of content and a game structure that convinces, albeit with some flaws, are a good calling card for this "debut-non-debut", which promises to keep virtual footballers busy for a long time, be they potential coaches, hunters of stickers or street game enthusiasts.

EA Sports FC 24 is a beautiful new look for a classic that has been evolving for decades and establishing itself as the main sports simulator on the market. With even better gameplay, more intuitive menus and modes that allow you to get to the field as quickly as possible, this is ultimate proof that the name change doesn't matter - the quality remains the same.

EA Sports FC 24 is a safe rebrand of the FIFA series. While it doesn’t stray too far from its predecessor, new additions improve the overall gameplay. Playstyles highlight skills and HyperMotionV helps to make each athlete feel distinct. All of these aspects merge to create one of the most authentic football games to date. Even though monetization plagues Ultimate Team and Career Mode is largely the same, FC 24 refines moments on the pitch to make each touch a thrill.

EA Sports FC 24 continues EA Tiburon's hard work that has evolved, especially in recent years. The experience is more fun than before and the learning curve feels shorter than before. Sure, many vices cause many errors in the game, but that does not make the video game inoperative. Electronic Arts soccer game is going in the right direction and is worth enjoying for what it is.

It's no longer FIFA, it's EA Sports FC 24 – but EA Sports new football-game barely feels like a fresh start for the series. While it provide proper additions like the Hypermotion V animations and their effects on the match-flow, career modes lack change and Ultimate Team is more pay-to-win than ever before.

EA Sports FC 24 brings us a little closer to the most realistic football. The new features in immersion are the perfect wrapper for a gameplay that is essentially the same, but which features more important new features than we expected. We only regret that it continues to suffer from continuity and the lack of new features in FIFA game modes.

Slightly better than FIFA 23, micro-transactions remain prominent in EA FC 24, also questionable computer AI. It's a beautiful, solid but not spectacular sport title.

EA Sports FC 24 retains everything that’s kept people coming back to EA’s soccer series for the past 30 years, from its slick arcade gameplay to the popular wallet-wrecking Ultimate Team mode – both made better this time around by PlayStyles and Evolutions respectively. While EA doesn’t hit the back of the net with every tweak and introduction, it’s clear the studio is trying to make good on its new-found freedom.

Perhaps the biggest innovation here is also the most controversial. Making good on their ‘The world’s game’ tagline and pre-release promise that this would be their most inclusive iteration yet, EA Sports have now extended their integration of women’s football to Ultimate Team, the series’ most popular – and lucrative – mode which sees gamers collectively spending billions of real-world pounds buying virtual Panini-like packs of players to assemble the best teams possible.

There still remain many of the progression problems with Ultimate Team that are likely to never leave though, and while we are all used to them now, it doesn't make it any less frustrating to deal with as a 'free-to-play' player. Menus are also a big sticking point that I hope improves soon, and fans of Career Mode and Clubs will once again likely feel left out in favour of the bigger brother that is Ultimate Team.

While it’s sporting a new look and name, EA Sports FC 24 is a familiar and altogether solid entry in the juggernaut that is EA’s annual soccer video game series. Picking up the controller for a quick session with mates feels as comfortable and natural as it ever has, with plenty of mechanical depth for hardcore football fanatics to obsess over. It’s a shame that the glitches present at release can be match-ending, and placing microtransactions front-and-centre in a full-priced retail game always feels icky, but the sheer variety and quality of game modes on offer make up for these shortcomings for the most part. EA Sports FC 24 is a true celebration of the world’s game, with plenty of content for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

EA Sports FC 24 fits seamlessly into the quality of FIFA games. Visually it plays at a high level, but new game content is more noticeable in details than in the general gaming experience.

EA Sports FC 24 kicks off a new era of football games with plenty of content and the best gameplay we’ve seen in years. But laggy menus and microtransactions make it a little less enjoyable than it should be. In the end, though, it’s still a pretty solid football game, and that’s what matters the most.

Good old FIFA, but bigger, better, smoother. It's underwhelming that EA Sports didn't go for a brand new experience for the debut of their "new IP", but at the same time FC 24 is a good game. On the structure of FIFA 23, EA Sports builds a series of improvements that increase the variety of the experience and introduce a compelling sense of uncertainty in the gameplay action. Very nice note: the management career is one of the best single player modes in years in the series.

The slickest, smoothest and most technologically advanced not-FIFA game ever made, that makes an encouragingly positive start to a new era of football video games.

The name might be changed but the essence of the game remains the same. This means that EA Sports FC 24 is not an evolution of the -formerly known- FIFA series but mostly the expected annual update.

EAFC 24 might go about achieving its goals in a slightly different way to the FIFA series, but it lands at the same end result. The same tempting sticker book collect-a-thon and absorbing gameplay carousel makes EAFC 24 a virtual footballing platform that demands your attention and is difficult to put down. Emulating the signature moves of your sporting heroes with box-office Playstyles is a highlight, but there will always be questions about whether the mechanic can stand up to the test of millions of players probing for overpowered exploits.

EA Sports FC 24 is a football chapter halfway between revolution and tradition. Not the impressive step forward that one could expect from the heir to FIFA 23, but a simulator that entertains and pleases despite some recent and historical defects of the brand persisting. The obsessive search for realism, between increasingly realistic animations and a breathtaking glance, clashes with the usual approach to gameplay devoted entirely to speed and frenzy, in which it is very easy to dart into the penalty area but it is far too complicated to defend with clarity and constancy. However, EA Sports remains the only truly valid offer in terms of video game football in this generational parenthesis. Ultimately, thanks to a richer and more stratified range of modes than ever, we can say that Electronic Arts has brought home the result also for the 2023/2024 season.

EA FC is a very interesting beginning of a new period in the world of football simulations, if you have been a fan of EA football until now, then there is no reason not to like this new "FIFA" with a different name.

Whether it's called FIFA or not, EA Sports FC 24 is the traditional, annual soccer game that every fan looks forward to. It's not a revolution, but exactly what you can expect if you've played the previous years. Although it does seem that the break with the World Soccer Federation has been virtuous. The graphical interface is less garish and there is more hierarchy and structure in the menus so you can find your way around more easily. The players' movements have also become just that little bit more natural, making play seem more fluid and realistic than ever. Although the attackers are still favored over the defenders, making it easier to score than to stop goal attempts.

    80
All in all, EA FC 24 already seems to be a clear departure from previous editions of FIFA, and that's just as well for the launch of this new era. EA Sports has succeeded in seducing the majority of FIFA fans, who will rediscover what they loved about the game, while discovering new ways of playing the universal game. This 2023/2024 season has not seen the last of its surprises, and even if a few imperfections still remain, we hope that the big back-to-school update won't make the game boring and unbalanced. Beware, however, of the PlayStyles, which could quickly prove too powerful for some players. All that's left is to wish you a good game, or rather, a good match!

Revolutionary title change doesn't bring equally revolutionary changes in gameplay, but EA Sports FC 24 is - ironically - the best "FIFA" in years. We're all waiting for big changes in the series and it's not that moment (will it ever happen?), but Eletronic Arts is on the right track to create the perfect game for football fans.

    80
EA Sports FC 24 has again taken advantage of being the only football game on the market. However, it's important not to overlook the areas where the game thinks about the player. Who knows, maybe one day, if we are a good boy, EA might even come up with a player-friendly soccer game.
  36. Sep 25, 2023
    80
Off the pitch, EA Sports FC 24 struggles to establish an identity, but the addition of HyperMotionV and key upgrades to fan-favorite modes including Pro Clubs and Ultimate Team makes this franchise-starter an objectively better football game than its de facto predecessor.

FIFA 23 was undoubtedly the most complete title in the saga under the old name, and EA Sports FC 24 goes a little further despite the name change. If the title does not really move the furniture in the Career modes (whether manager or player), it drastically increases the variety of the Ultimate Team mode by adding women's football maps or the principle of evolving maps. We will especially appreciate the well-revised gameplay compared to last season, with deep races and advantageous fast players, but a fairly clever construction and pressing system. Also note, the change in visual identity of the menus, some additions of stadiums like that of Lille to properly launch the EA Sports FC lineage.
  38. Sep 22, 2023
    80
EA FC 24 fulfills most of its promises and shows that it remains the definitive soccer game. The new visuals make perfect use of the available technology to promote a richer experience for fans of the sport. There are small problems here and there as well as remnants of dated approaches to some game modes, but even so, EA FC 24 ushers in a new era of soccer games in a big way and proves that it's not just more of the same.
  39. Sep 22, 2023
    80
EA FC 24 emphatically puts any concerns to rest by delivering the most complete and satisfying depiction of the beautiful game seen to date. The gameplay that fans know and love has been tweaked and polished to make for a deeply enjoyable 90 minutes each time the whistle blows.
  40. Even though the feeling on the pitch is only slight different, not all of the new gameplay additions hit the mark - but even so, there's something that makes EA Sports FC 24 feel like the freshest games in the series, and certainly a good way to leave FIFA behind.
  41. Sep 22, 2023
    78
EA Sports FC 24 still has the old FIFA mustiness hanging over it. The series desperately needs innovation on and off the pitch.
  42. Sep 22, 2023
    78
EA Sports FC 24 is a more polished experience, but it also feels a missed opportunity to evolve the series after its name change.
  43. In addition to knowing especially the female football players, I play as a single striker with Alex Morgan and I score goals from every angle. But we should not ignore the fact that this creates positive discrimination. In other words, details such as the fact that some football players who do not have the same physique can win in very different positions are discussed. I agree with some, I disagree with some. Because short players can also beat tall players. Since I don't watch women's football much, it wouldn't be right for me to comment on their physical strength. I would like to close the article without going too far into that subject.

A yearly sports title is hardly one to looks to when one thinks of gameplay updates and changes, but EA Sports FC 24 is proving to be the exception to the rule.
  45. Sep 24, 2023
    75
EA Sports FC 24 takes a cautious approach and focuses on further improving realism. Female players will play a more prominent role in the Ultimate Team mode, bringing some changes to this popular content. Unfortunately, as a new game, it lacks significant innovation compared to FIFA 23.

EA Sports FC 24 may be a new name, but it contains the very familiar game. With minor improvements across the board, and thanks to a still solid foundation, it’s the annual sports entry that you'd expect, no more and no less.
  47. Nov 10, 2023
    72
This year, FIFA brings most of its changes in the shape of a new name for the franchise. In other aspects, it’s mostly the same old game with some additional flavors sprinkled around, unless you are really excited about the new mixed teams.
  48. Sep 22, 2023
    72
EA Sports FC 24 gets the job done. It delivers a familiar 'FIFA' style game with its own few touches here and there. Fans who have grown accustomed to this formula will be satisfied as it stays true to what makes these games special. Ultimately, EA FC 24's most popular game mode 'Ultimate Team' is what truly makes or breaks a game. So far with Evolutions, it seems promising. However, it is not until EA begin to release content throughout the year that we will be able to reach a proper verdict regarding this game mode's full effectiveness. With Pro Clubs, Career Mode, and even Kick-Off seeming solid, it's safe to say this is a football game that you can sit back, relax, and enjoy playing. (Except for when you rage playing UT Champions of course).

    70
While its name might have changed, EA SPORTS FC 24 is a new entry in the long-running FIFA series through and through, and you’ll find the series' strengths and weaknesses haven’t changed one bit.
  50. Oct 19, 2023
    70
FIFA 24 in all but name, EA Sports FC 24 is not the bold reboot many may have hoped for when the publisher announced it was breaking away from football’s governing body. But beneath the air of familiarity is another slick soccer sim, with some smart new additions like PlayStyles and Precision Passing which help stamp a bit more personality on a previously robotic experience. Additions to Ultimate Team bring flexibility to the game’s flagship mode, while the developer has been listening to its fanbase, and is slowly iterating on oft neglected areas like Career Mode and Clubs.
  51. Oct 18, 2023
    70
We can change the name, but the "FIFA" heart is still there, and in full force. Ultimate team got most of the love (obviously), but although it doesn't feel like a new game, it is still the best football game you can buy right now.
  52. Oct 16, 2023
    70
New name, same beautiful game is how I’d describe EA SPORTS FC 24. There is, once again, nothing revolutionary here, although PlayStyles and HyperMotion V are to be applauded as they further blur the line between virtual and real life football.
  53. Oct 16, 2023
    70
The gameplay is just a bit better again, graphically just a bit nicer, the menus just a bit better and the game features several new gameplay features that provide refinement. Still, we can't ignore the fact that all the additions are rather minimalistic, the game has some minor mistakes and that we had expected a little more from the evolution EA has promised us. Beyond these critical points, we do have to say that EA Sports FC 24 is a fine soccer game in its own right.
  54. Oct 6, 2023
    70
EA Sports FC 24 represents yet another safe, conservative continuation of a well-established formula. For those willing to invest time and enthusiasm into Ultimate Team, it promises year-round entertainment. However, it's challenging to make a compelling argument for offline players to not miss it this year. The football gaming scene is still in desperate need of a fierce competitor for EA's franchise.
  55. Oct 5, 2023
    70
EA Sports FC 24 is a better game than FIFA 23, but only marginally so. PlayStyles, Evolutions, and the addition of women in Ultimate Team are all positive steps forward, but it takes just as many steps back. The same gameplay issues continue to crop up, Career mode is underbaked, and Ultimate Team is still marred by the inescapable presence of microtransactions--and they've only gotten worse. The on-pitch action is excellent, with some frustrating caveats, and it's capable of moments of pure footballing joy. For those expecting a reinvention to go along with the new name, this is not that. EA FC 24 is the same ugly, beautiful game.
  56. Sep 28, 2023
    70
FC 24 is a decent step forward for the franchise, but is also yet another missed opportunity to actually make substantial technical leaps. If you're a longtime FIFA player, it's more of the same with some welcome tweaks.
  57. Sep 28, 2023
    70
There are foundations here to build upon in future versions. So despite the greed and eye roll-inducing commentary, we’re feeling cautiously optimistic about the future, and that’s a strangely unfamiliar feeling.
  58. Sep 28, 2023
    70
Overall, I can’t fault EA Sports for its efforts with EA FC 24. The developer has taken the bull by the horns and given longtime players of the franchise hope for the first time in a very long time. However, it’s only a slight improvement.
  59. Sep 26, 2023
    70
All told, it might have a new name, but EA Sports FC 24 is just about the same, frustrating but beautiful game.
  60. Sep 26, 2023
    70
Sports FC 24 is not the complete departure from FIFA that its name would suggest. Most of the fundamentals remain in place and the career modes have barely been updated. Then again, Ultimate Team is the series' real money-spinner, coming with the addition of evolutions and mixed gender teams. Overall, the on-pitch gameplay is good, and you can see the extra animations enhancing the football sim, but it isn’t a massive evolution of EA’s flagship series.
  61. Sep 25, 2023
    70
EA Sports FC 24 has its fair share of additions. Major? No, not really. Useful? Yes, because they're mainly there to reinforce what has already been achieved, whether criticized or not, making this license one of the most popular cultural and videogame products purchased every year. That's the general feeling of EA Sports FC 24 that ensures its arrival and transition with efficiency.
  62. Sep 22, 2023
    70
In a year of change, EA Sports FC 24 doesn't revolutionize the series. Even with the goal at its mercy, EA has decided to bet on the game's new image, tidying up the wrapping paper and maintaining the same experience that all fans already know so well. Graphically it has never looked better, but there are few new features in terms of gameplay. New jersey aside, the gameplay of FC 24 is very similar to that of FIFA 23, for better or for worse.
  63. Sep 22, 2023
    70
EA Sports FC 24 is a good football simulator and is a good start as the new FIFA brand. However, Electronic Arts needs to take a step forward in some of the aspects of the game and improve for future releases. A good game for football fans and for those who enjoyed FIFA 23.
  64. Sep 22, 2023
    70
It's a solid football game, but all the microtransactions leave a sour taste. However, if you just want to play digital football, there's probably no better place to do it right now than in EA Sports FC 24.
  65. Sep 22, 2023
    70
The rating would be much higher if the game wasn't being held back by the prevailing bugs. The sky is the limit for FC once EA iron out the creases.
  66. Sep 22, 2023
    69
EA Sports FC 24 is secretly just Fifa 23.5. With the same advantages and the same problems. It all looks a bit more dignified and mature, but the new, chic costume cannot disguise the fact that EA Sports FC 24 is a shady players' agent who wants to get as much money out of your pocket as possible with as little effort as possible.
  67. Oct 10, 2023
    65
The gameplay of EA Sports FC 24 differs from FIFA 23 in nuances only and the overall changes are minor. While the game can be impressive thanks to the most realistic animations to date, it is just as often irritating due to its erratic physics engine. All that’s left for football fans is to hope that next year’s edition will be bolder, because this new start under the altered title is underwhelming.
  68. Nov 16, 2023
    60
EA Sports FC 24 doesn't deliver on the changes the name change would suggest. In the end it's still FIFA, but with a few new things to enjoy. Unfortunately that also means this game is plagued by the same issues that have plagued the FIFA-franchise for years like pay-to-win in FUT, weird situations in Career Mode and multiple bugs that have been there since the dawn of time. Some cool new elements like Evolutions in FUT give a little bit of redeeming quality, but overall it's not great.
  69. Oct 17, 2023
    60
EA FC 24, the revamped FIFA, brings a breath of fresh air with its dynamic menu, "precision pass," and reintroduction of female athletes in Ultimate Team. However, it grapples with lingering connectivity troubles and a lack of innovation. On a positive note, the elimination of position-altering consumables, in Ultimate Team, and the introduction of "playstyles" offer enhanced gameplay depth. All in all, EA FC 24 caters to football enthusiasts, offering a small blend of new features while still wrestling with the same gameplay formula.
  70. Oct 1, 2023
    60
Anyone who enjoys soccer will enjoy EA Sports FC 24. The same can be said about FIFA 23 and many of its predecessors. The problem with EA Sports FC 24, like those that came before it, is that it's doubtful anyone will even remember it this time next year. One day, hopefully, there will be a soccer experience that challenges the idea that this is a good way of doing things.
  71. Sep 28, 2023
    60
EA FC 24 is great in spurts, but everything feels so by the numbers that it's impossible to recommend if you've been sticking with the series through the FIFA years. Like most sports games these days, I'd recommend buying every three or four entries and maybe putting on some parental locks in Ultimate Team so you don't waste your money. Trust me, you can compete with the rest of us weekend warriors without dropping hundreds of dollars. And who knows, maybe next year EAFC will finally go from okay to great again.
  72. Sep 27, 2023

There are improvements, and there are problems - business as usual. The era of EA Sports' FIFA may be over, but the game goes on.
  73. Sep 25, 2023
    60
EA Sports FC 24 isn't the huge departure that we'd hoped for. While Ultimate Team devotees will likely be happy, the rest of the game feels like an afterthought in the transition away from the FIFA license.
  74. Sep 22, 2023
    60
While the future is still exciting for EA Sports’ FC series, this year’s game is new in little more than name. The merging of male and female players in Ultimate Team is a fantastic addition, but with various returning issues dampening the enjoyment of the fast-paced gameplay and the spending of real-world being pushed harder than ever before, EA Sports FC 24 is frustratingly familiar.
  75. Nov 8, 2023
    50
EA Sports FC 24 lacks identity and innovation and is stuck between a fun arcade football game and a deep simulation, eventually failing to deliver for fans of either style. EA is facing no competition for its Football game at the moment and given the commercial success of the game, the future seems darker than ever.
  76. Sep 22, 2023

EA has seemingly spent more resources on marketing the new name than improving the formula, and it's therefore very hard to recommend EA Sports FC 24 to all but the most dedicated fans.
