College Football 2026 is sport gaming perfection, a marriage made in heaven on the PS5 Pro. Amazingly, EA improved in every way on an already outstanding title.

There’s nothing particularly glaring about the game, but it does have a few blemishes. It is undoubtedly a step up from CFB 25 and a must-play game for college football fans, for no other reason than hearing “Enter Sandman” blast through your speakers at a night game against Virginia Tech is essentially a religious experience.

Everything that sold everyone on College Football 25 is bigger and better in College Football 26. The game simply can't be put down and the game modes are more encompassing than they were last year. Road to Glory will have you making multiple characters and Dynasty Mode will have you hooked on the updated aspects with recruiting and crossplay with your friends online. 300 coaches, multiple playbooks, 136 teams and the updated Team Builder with a better online process makes College Football 26 an unprecedented experience. The elephant in the room is the physics-based gameplay as the extremely upbeat and snappy gameplay from last year takes a slight dip in favor of more realism and that's truly felt. Bugs that weren't nearly this apparent last year are here at launch. The physics-based gameplay starts to shift the franchise towards Madden, and a big selling point to many on this series is that it isn't Madden. In the end, however, there's an impeccable College Football replication in EA Sports College Football 26.

Our best sports game of last year remains the one to beat in 2025, too. College Football 26 is the most detailed, authentic, and fun sim on consoles right now, and will keep you playing – and recruiting! – right through to next summer.

EA Sports College Football 26 is a natural but significant evolution from its successful return. With more rivalries, varied gameplay, a deeper Dynasty Mode, and the most immersive setting in the series, it solidifies itself as the king of digital college football.

EA Sports College Football 26 is a nice evolution of last year's already excellent title, adding even more quality to the gameplay and spectacle off the field to continue being one of the best sports titles today.

EA College Football 26 won’t be judged as softly as last year’s game because fans aren’t simply fired up to have college football back. That said, EA’s dev team hasn’t rested on its success, and they’ve delivered a strong follow-up with noteworthy improvements. The issues are mostly out of the dev’s hands and based on the handling of legends or legalities that limit in-game customization.

College Football 26 is a triumphant, if imperfect, return to the gridiron. It successfully captures the spirit, passion, and strategic depth that make college football the beloved institution it is. The core gameplay is fantastic, and the immersive Dynasty Mode provides hundreds of hours of rewarding team-building. While marred by repetitive commentary and a smattering of intrusive bugs, the foundation here is rock-solid. For fans of college football, it’s an essential purchase. It’s still not a flawless champion just yet, but its potential to build a long-lasting dynasty is undeniable.

College Football 26 didn’t throw out the playbook from its first year back, but it didn’t need to. Instead, iterative improvements and quality-of-life adjustments build upon an already strong foundation. Like my Dynasty team, EA Sports’ newest series is quickly amassing prestige as one of the best sports franchises today, and College Football 26 only helps its case.

EA Sports College Football 26 refines the series’ return with noticeable improvements to gameplay, Dynasty, and Road to Glory. Controls feel more responsive, animations are smoother, and the authentic college atmosphere shines through stadiums and traditions. Issues like conservative AI, slow menus, and lack of servers in some regions remain, but overall this is a solid and immersive step forward that reinforces confidence in the franchise’s future.

EA Sports College Football 26 maintains the level of last year's game and adds specific improvements, reminding us that, after all, this is what sports games with annual releases are all about. Without a doubt, even with some glitches and bugs, this is one of the best sports games of the year, and the best part is that it has a unique essence. College football has more tradition and passion than the NFL, and all it takes is dedicating time and attention to your favorite team to make you feel part of it.

At the end of the day is College Football 26 a bad release? Absolutely not; it’s a great football game and it is better than the previous release. But for all the fans that jumped in last year for the return of the college football franchise, it’s a tough sell to say here’s a new game for $70 and it’s worth your money. For fans that didn’t jump in last year, I can’t recommend College Football 26 enough, but for all the gamers who picked up CF 25 I just can’t bring myself to give this my stamp of approval as the resident football reviewer for Gaming Age.

Football 26 is a sequel that improves every detail of the previous chapter without distorting its essence; a simulation that is a journey at heart of college football, designed especially for those who love the single-player experience: a bold choice in a world dominated by multiplayer. Deeper than Madden, more exciting, and above all, more authentic.

EA SPORTS College Football 26 proves it was a great decision to bring college football back to video games. Besides the skillful gameplay, the way stadiums, teams, fans, and mannerisms have been brought to the virtual environment captivates those in control to the point of wanting to discover what each playbook has to offer.

College Football 26 is a significant refinement from last year, particularly in terms of realistic gameplay and an authentic college football experience. But you'll have to contend with a troublesome Wear and Tear system, and occasionally braindead AI in specific modes.

Despite the occasional flaw, College Football 26 builds upon its solid foundations to graduate near the top of its class. This is a fantastic football game that revels in the singularity of the college experience, from the pageantry, traditions, and electric atmosphere of each school on game day, through to the recruitment process, and the myriad heated rivalries between its 136 teams. After a hugely successful comeback, EA Sports College Football 26 furthers the series' upward trajectory, making for one of the greatest shows on turf.

EA Sports College Football 26 nails the college vibe with packed stadiums, tons of teams, and smooth gameplay. While Road to Glory feels a bit flat and Ultimate Team leans into monetization, fans of the sport will find plenty to enjoy here.

So, EA Sports College Football 26 is better than last year albeit demonstrating its superiority in a measurement of inches rather than miles. That said, the raft of incremental improvements, massive amount of content to stuck into which when married with EA's reliably all-star, blockbuster presentation which succeeds in emulating the audiovisual sensation of the real-life spectacle mean that EA Sports College Football 26 remains an essential purchase for those looking to hit digital college gridiron. All in all, EA College Football 26 is the best football game to come along for a good while and once again supplants the Madden NFL franchise as the premier gaming series for America's most passionate sporting pastime.

College Football 26 was a pleasant surprise. I had assumed my enthusiasm for College Football 25 was largely due to the novelty of having a new college football game after so many years, and I honestly didn't think this year's game could eclipse the hype. I am happy to admit when I'm wrong, especially if it means getting a great new College Football experience.

EA Sports College Football 26, especially patched up, will definitely get you ready for this year's IRL college football season. But I can't shake the feeling like it slipped a half-step or two. The honeymoon period is over. Let's see how they respond.

EA Sports College Football 26 brings quality improvements that build nicely upon the foundation laid by last year's release. No upgrades are revolutionary, but they don't necessarily need to be. However, bugs and a lack of quality tutorials leave some to be desired. Regardless, for college football fans, this is still the ultimate experience to bring game days with you anytime, anywhere.

College Football 26 is a very good college football video game, but I don’t think it’s a great one; I’m pretty choosy when I use that word. This year’s version walks a little taller, looks a little more toned, and has better footwork than last year’s model. It has put in the work in the off-season, but there’s still more to be done. Proper teaching tools aren’t here yet (for the love of God, EA, please, so my friends can play this game without spending days of their lives on YouTube), and Road to Glory and Dynasty still need meaningful changes. But Dynasty is at least compelling enough, and the on-field game still has it where it counts. You can tell the College Football team is listening, and that it cares. EA has avoided the sophomore slump, but like any college football fan will tell you, you don’t build a Dynasty off a couple good seasons alone. You have to build for the future. College Football 26 is a step in that direction, but EA will have to keep at it if they want this series to be up there with the all-time greats. You’ve got potential, kid, and you’re better than last year. What matters now is if you can take that leap (you know, the one we’re all expecting you to) next season.
