Mar 4, 2021Very unbalanced AI
Too crowded with cars at the start of races
Arcade all the way, realism absurdly low
Very few relevant challenges, short career Stupid challenges such as "collide when airborne" on tracks without jumps. The worst game in the Dirt series by miles. Weighing in the instabilities it is a 1. Stay away! -
Feb 9, 2021Meh. Bought this since I borrowed a racing seat, wheel and pedals. Next gen game? Really? Graphics are mediocre on PS5. Driving is easy and fun, but I got bored after driving the eight first races. It would be cheaper to insert coins in a real arcade machine..

Jul 22, 2021Worst arcade racer ever. Feels like Codemasters is dead and dont want to make racing games anymore. Maybe they sold it to EA because this company has begun to sinking to the bottom.

Apr 6, 2021Man, this is dull. It's unpolished, collisions often have no sound effect. Driving through deep water has no sound effect and doesn't slow or effect the car in any way. Career is terrible, nothing like the old games. I hate it when game franchises go backwards. Did no one on the dev team sit down and play their old games and try to understand what made them great? Gutted.

Dec 13, 2020This game is broken on PS5, it crashes every few races and from time to time it corrupts your saved game meaning you have to restart the career from zero.
DON’T BUY -
Jan 1, 2021Complete waste of money
Gameplay is 100pct arcade and is very unlike dirt4. Unfortunately, it is just not fun. -

Dec 11, 2020Frequent crashes, save corrupted AND uploaded to cloud, which means I lost all progress.

Jan 6, 2022A rally game with no rally? It's just racing??? Why? Where is my co-driver?
I want to give it a lower score but the racing is decent and the graphics are nice, but it feels like an arcade racer. I was hoping for something much more realistic and rally based. -
Dec 14, 2020After a few races the game will crash constantly and the all the save data will be lost. Very frustrating...
-
Dec 14, 2020Ps5 version is unplayable, game crashes after every few races and save file gets corrupts.
-
May 6, 2023The 5 minutes of scrolling to get padt the User aggrement get you in a bad mood before you even play the game. Then the game itself is one of the worst racing games ive ever played. Controls are to floaty and the cars just suck.

Jun 2, 2021Quite literally unplayable while online. When you're not connected online the game works, but the very second you connect online in the PS5 network settings, the game crashes to the PS5 menu, rendering the online portions unplayable and literally IMPOSSIBLE to access. What idiots are supposed to be testing this game out? Fire all of them they're incompetent.

Dec 29, 2021The graphic quality is the only good thing about this game. The handling is vague and dull. The difficulty is ridiculously imbalanced, some races will be easy and others will be impossible.
-
Jan 13, 2022I got it for free on PS Plus and it was alright but a lot of cars are hidden unless you buy them with real cash. They didn't give you the best options for vehicles in the base game.
-
Jan 5, 2022Just got this game through PS+. Glad I did not buy it. It's full of glitches and screen flickering. The physics are so bad it seems like the car is floating... doesn't matter the environment. The background music during the race is broken, the sound comes in and out at various points. The story... well there's none - the career mode is incredibly boring.
-
Jan 12, 2022I love and arcade racer but this is everything that is wrong with modern gaming. Every time you start the game it tries to direct you to the ps store to buy some crappy car, has cringeworthy commentary/chat, The road surface has no effect on the driving experience, the other cars travel in a line like a train, and worst of all it is devoid of all fun. The only plus is that i got it on psplus .

Jan 16, 2022You can have fun with it for a while, but it isn't worth its price. This Game is a bad 1 to 1 copy of Dirt 3 with better graphics. Thats it. I had more fun with Dirt 3. Their creativeness is also lacking if you compare simple things like loading screens, drift score counter, and things like that. EA destroyed this game.
-
Feb 21, 2022Even though the game looks quite nice and includes different competitions, it gets very repetitive and boring very quickly. The circuits are all alike and are very few. The DLCs are outrageous: they bring almost no new features and are very expensive.

Apr 19, 2023Game looks good, sounds good but:
This f!@#$%ng Gymkhana just pisses me off!

Dec 18, 2020DIRT 5 is an excellent, stunning and simply enjoyable arcade racer that is easy for anyone to pick-up and play regardless of your motor vehicle knowledge with a career mode that is surprisingly entertaining. You may want to pick it up on PlayStation 5 though since it feels awesome to play with the new DualSense features.

Playstation Official Magazine UKDec 14, 2020Much buggier than the PS4 version, Dirt 5 is nonetheless a showcase for PS5 gaming, and a much-needed champion for splitscreen racing. [Issue#183, p.86]

Dec 2, 2020DIRT 5 on the PS5 is the best version of the game to get on PlayStation consoles, when it works. That’s a big caveat, and most gamers will not want to have to constantly remember to pre-emptively upload their save game after a few races, or risk losing hours of progress due to one unfortunate crash. This also necessitates a PlayStation Plus subscription, since copying PS5 save games to USB storage is unfortunately not an option as of this writing. Assuming these issues get patched out, then it is easy to recommend buying this on the PS5, because DIRT 5 is a showcase racing game for the next generation of consoles with its smart use of haptic feedback and ray tracing, all while delivering a smooth performance.
