    The game is good. The price is not. 80€ (price in France, that's 97,50$) for a remake of an 11 years old game that mostly only get graphics ameliorations, that's completly overpriced. Definitly not worth it. Wait for a lower price or play the original game (which stay beautiful).

    You are new to this game. You choose a strong opening character. 5 minutes into the game half your health is taken away permanently. You start the next level . You are doing well and progressing through the level. Something happens where you misstep a bit and you die. Guess what? You are sent back to the very beginning of the level, to go through the same areas and enemies again. You makeYou are new to this game.     I never played the original so maybe it was good in its day but can't say I've enjoyed playing it. Graphics are good, controls are okay, not 100% though, sometime you seem to miss an enemy when they are higher than you for example. Also what's with having to focus on every enemy, that seems so outdated. Not worth £70, such a shame they are trying to rip people off, most AAA are £50 andI never played the original so maybe it was good in its day but can't say I've enjoyed playing it. Graphics are good, controls are okay, not 100% though, sometime you seem to miss an enemy when they are higher than you for example.     When you die, which is a lot, you must repeat the entire level. This is hugely frustrating to the point where after spending an entire day being killed at the same point I gave up on the game and will be trading it in. no difficulty settings either. hugely disappointing I could get past this point and see the rest of the game.

    Literally one of the worst games I’ve ever played. Boring and horrible combat. Graphics however are very beautiful. Graphics are probably the only thing I can say positive about this game. Never felt so robbed of $70. Do yourself a favor and stay away

    I will never and i mean it, never understand what's with the overhype for souls games. Just cause some game is hard, doesn't automatically mean that it's interesting or fun. Seems like these games are just made for people who like to kill same boss 100 times and just compete with others (like who kills this or that boss faster). You usually know you will die in any game, so it is necessary to create reasons to keep you playing it.     Another thing are the points your character have, with many, many options that don’t really change anything in your gameplay, only making the game more complicated.
    And, well, it is horrible to die for a boss and having to walk thorough kilometers and fight so many enemies just to fight the boss again, which turns out to desmotivate the player to even try again.
    If the game were updated with a new system of checkpoints, and try to make some narrative, it would value something, but the actual price is crazy. If you really want to play it, wait to buy it.    … Expand

    A “remake” which doesn’t improve gameplay at all is just a better remaster. I couldn’t care less for super uber graphics if the combat feels old and clunky as the original game. Very lazy job, not worth the money

    personally i think demon's soul is the worst souls game after dark souls 2

    graphicly it looks amazing. the gameplay is pretty good but my god the balance is really really bad. the magic builds are just op. the pvp sucks. the melee builds are not nearly as good as the magic ones it is unbalanced as heck. the story is alright nothing really that special tho. the bosses have borken    personally i think demon's soul is the worst souls game after dark souls 2

    Wish I could actually enjoy the story but the constant dying and resetting makes it a tough go. New to the souls games and I knew what I was getting into but this was just staring running the same route over and over. You finally get to a boss and get excited but alas you die and reset AGAIN. Beautiful to look at ugly to play.

    It started like a solid game I really enjoyed bit as the game went on I don't know what it was but it felt repetitive and I found myself not wanting to continue playing. It's good I guess but way overatted.

    Great remake, runs nice, and it's beautiful.

    But the actual game is quite **** One spawn per map, meaning you always have to go through everything all the time. I'm a fan of fromsoft, but I just can't enjoy this game

Technically and artistically this game is awesome, but the core design choices, like the absolutely unforgiving nature of it, the lack of proper saves, the necessity to retrace an enormous amount of a level every time you die, the “adaptive” difficulty level where if you die the game becomes harder (you got that right) by giving you only half your health until you defeat an enormously difficult boss, that is, if you even manage to get to it through all the other NPCs, now that you health is halved. And if you keep losing, you’ll find yourself running out of items and having weapons in need of repair, which is only fixable by farming the easier to kill NPCs, until you collect enough souls. You can even die in a safe heaven in this game and lose all your souls… If you still want to get this game, don’t buy a digital download, get a disk version, at least you can resell it later.… Expand

    Don't buy this just because you loved Elden Ring. I've played Ds3, bloodborne, and elden ring, and the best parts of those games is how much farther away from the design of Demons Souls they went with each iteration. absolute slog

    I am a huge fan of Bloodborne and call it one of my favorite games of all time. Bloodborne was my introduction to From Software. After playing BB i played DS3 and then Sekiro. While Bloodborne was and forever will be my favorite of them i had a lot of appreciation for DS3 and Sekiro. Things i love about Bloodborne is it´s smart level Design, it´s extremely challenging but rewardingI am a huge fan of Bloodborne and call it one of my favorite games of all time. Bloodborne was my introduction to From Software. After playing BB i played DS3 and then Sekiro. While Bloodborne was and forever will be my favorite of them i had a lot of appreciation for DS3 and Sekiro. Things i love about Bloodborne is it´s smart level Design, it´s extremely challenging but rewarding Gameplay and it´s horrifying beauty. All these 3 things are lacking in this Game. I probably am part of a minority with thinking that this Game didn´t age well. In my opinion there is two types of difficult Games: a good one and a bad one. While i would classify BB, DS3 and Sekiro entirely as the former here it´s too much of the latter. Tight hallways that take your view while having extremely aggressive enemies in the way not being able to really see yourself or them well. Unbalanced Boss fights put in weird spaces that don´t seem nearly as thought out as later entries in From Softwares catalogue. Then there is the Level Design. This is where Bloodborne shines and delivers again and again with it´s clever and rewarding distribution of Lamps (checkpoints), something almost entirely missing from this Game. Whereas in Bloodborne and Post-BB Games i felt rewarded after fighting through a tough area arriving at a checkpoint or discovering a new area here i never have those experiences. There is no feeling of joy after finishing a Boss after studying their attack patterns because most Bosses lack ambitious mechanics. Moreover the Mechanics of Bosses don´t really feel integrated into the Gameplay. Again, with all the Post-BB Souls Games there was a coherence between the Boss Design and Gameplay mechanics. Whenever i died in those Games to a Boss or enemies i always felt like i wasn´t good enough, thinking about the enemy attack patterns and how i could improve. When i die here i find myself most of the time thinking about poor design choices such as the things mentioned. Another example of it´s unbalanced mechanics is farming for healing items. While BB did have the need to find healing items as well the distribution was way more balanced out and enemies would frequently drop them. In certain areas of Demons Souls you wont find any healing items at all which adds to the overall feeling of frustration this Game leaves me with.… Expand

I had fun learning/playing Bloodborne a lot but this game just feels like torture. Games are suppose to be fun and I barely had any fun playing this. Graphics are beautiful yeah but that doesn't change anything considering that it's a PS5 game. They could've improved on so many things but they decided to just copy and paste the old game with its outdated combat system. You're expected to fight a single Boss for days just to be able to beat him and feel some accomplishment but that doesn't work when the developers use cheap old game tactics to stop people from progressing, learning and ultimately having fun. eSports of single player games.… Expand

    i've never played a demon soul game before, so i figure i'll give it a try. boy was it a waste of time. the fight mechanics is clanky, you literallly die all the time, i have no idea what im doing, there is no pathfinding or any kind of guidance as to what to do. and im literally getting killed on the first level repeatedly, and then you have to start all over again? no thanks.

I loved the tragic and cruel atmosphere which has a low speed and Demon Souls remake is like 2015 Doom in Dark Souls, it looks smooth and entertaining, but its trying to entertain using only visuals, not by atmosphere. Hope BluePrint won't remake or remaster any other FromSoft game. I don't think that developers are bad, but this genre just not their's, they do not know what to do with it, they should try to make their own games about which they will be passionate. And I'm sure, that if BluePrint would make their own game, it would be really good.    … Expand

    By no means a lazy remake, but a completely misunderstood one in the art style and music department. Things range from not making sense to be a straight up downgrade, and the mood for some of the most emotional bosses is completely gone. Play the PS3 version instead.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. NO SAVE POINTS!!!!! Yes you start game are expected to play for 20-30 mins get killed start at beginning, all monsters Re~spawn. This game is ground hog day with a different name. Totally insane. The developer designer who came up with this must have serious OCD!!!! And loves to do the same senseless boring loop over and over and over again. I gave one star only because character creation was cool. I made a male smurf that walked talked like a girl. Honestly this game would of been 5 stars. Put autosave where you die you don’t need to go kill 40 NPC’s to reclaim your souls to get killed again. It’s just boring totally wasted my time. I tossed game in trash. Never will I buy any new game without reading reviews. My PS5 I love. Astros playroom was 100 times more fun than demon souls. Astros playroom actually saves your progress.… Expand

    Bad collision query, flying boses that disappeared mid boss fight, bosses that only use range attacks even if you are close, so that the boss is way to easy for a boss that shows up during endgame and so on. It's just a remake, so why are there still bugs that were known in the first place? If you really want to olay Demon's Souls, buy the old one

    Jogo chato! Não tem save points. Quando perdemos andamos 20 minutos para trás. Dinheiro mal gosto. Game play é rudimentar. Sinto que estou a jogar o jogo original e não o remake.

Demon's souls is an unbalanced difficulty mess from A to Z, from mob one shotting the player no matter what his vitality stat is at, to the player literally one shotting bosses sometimes.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A "Graphical improvement" that falls flat in so many aspects. The gameplay first of all is the same as the original, no improvements, the backstabs and counterattacks after a parry are changed with some over the top animations which feels awkward. The "graphical improvements" of the game are ironically what ruined the game. The artistic direction of the original was used as tool for the narrative of the story by showing the desolation and the fog that was shrouding Boletaria, while in the remake everything Is gaudy and the fog that was the main aspect of the narrative of Boletaria was replaced by a clear sky in order to show the graphics and the potential of the ps5. As for the rest of the other areas, Latria followed the same mistake by giving it a gothic look which reminded me of another game instead of and improvement of the original. Another bad aspect is the music for the bosses as "the music of the remake Is inspired by Bloodborne" which Is why the OST falls flat since there is no rhythm during the boss fights because they maintened the same mechanics of the original and putting a Grandiose and an Epic orchestra for a giant manta ray fish that slowly approaches you is more laughable than epic. lets not talk about the Nexus ost that was destroyed by a ridicolous church chant instead of putting and improving the simple and a mysterious tones of the original, no comment for the false king ost...
    In conclusion this remake was made without the direction of the original developers but this was aspected since From software is hated by the Ps5 higher-ups but nevertheless a shame that this was used as tech demo for the ps5 because It had a lot of potential but It was sadly wasted.    … Expand

    This is an unpopular opinion but I really didn’t get on with this game. I played Elden Ring and it’s the best game I’ve ever played. But with Demons Souls, I couldn’t even get past the first level without dying. It’s extremely frustrating and the combat is challenging. I’ve given it a 2 because I liked the atmosphere and art/graphics style. And a couple of the OST songs. However I dislikeThis is an unpopular opinion but I really didn’t get on with this game.     Too hard and too easy? Demon's souls benefits from its unique art design and next generation graphics. However I found that playing the game was really hard if you were playing the "correct way" and was really easy when using an exploited strategy. The easy way make it less fun and the hard way is infuriating. Also I found the dodge mechanic to be very unresponsive/inconsistent.

    Never Played IT, but since PS people give Microsoft Excl. Games a 0 for Not Beeing on Ghaystation, im rating every Ps only Game 0. ❤️

    It’s a perfect remake and I think the only people who might be disappointed with it are… the die-hard FromSoftware fans. You see, the new Demon’s Souls shows clearly how much Miyazaki’s games have evolved throughout the years. The Dark Souls series simply does everything better. The remake looks like a prototype in comparison, while still being way ahead of other developers’ achievements in this genre. [01/2021, p.46]

    Overall, Demon’s Souls is still the most interesting and varied game in the Souls series. This remake not only looks lovely on the PlayStation 5 but is also a joy to play with all the tweaks and improvements that have been introduced. Now if only people would look past its supposed difficulty and see its carefully crafted intricacy instead.

    I went in expecting the world out of the Demon’s Souls remake and it delivered me the galaxy. I don’t normally speak this highly of games, but this is the one exception. Absolutely every facet of the original has been enhanced and it has stood the test of time. Bluepoint has done an incredible job at not only reinvigorating an underappreciated gem, but also leveraging the new technologies afforded to them with Sony’s new system. While there are a couple of minor technical blemishes, they don’t take away from how good of an experience this game is and Bluepoint’s diligence as a developer will surely see these kinks ironed out. This game is a system seller.
