    Eh. Game is fine. Gameplay loop is solid but that’s about all it has. Somewhat interesting setting and premise but not executed well. Visual design is good. Colt is a cool character. But everything is mediocre to just decent. Reviewers gassed it up too much

    I really enjoyed this game a lot! The story is ok, and the NPC's can be kind of dumb. However the gameplay mechanics and "loop" brings so much. Perhaps not the very best from Bethesda Softworks, but a great experience nonetheless

    This game lts no a shooter. Is a rouguelike with to bad in mechanics. There only 4 scenarios not pretty good and tiny. I know the game it's about a Bucle that you had to stop it, but it's annoying earing one and one again the same dialogs and killing the same bosses too repetitive. Grafics looks good with one or two bugs and the story is fine but this condition the game mechanics.

    This might be my favorite Arkane Studios game to date. The gameplay, music, and the way you keep finding more clues to progress in the story really has me hooked. I loved that they implemented gyro controls for the dual sense. This is a 'must buy' if you are into Dishonored. No doubt looking forward to more stealth games by Arkane.

    Deathloop has by far some of the most unique and deep level design i have ever seen. Events and accessible places change from morning, afternoon, noon and evening. One map feels like it contains several levels worth of content in it at times too.
    All of the visionaries are unique and the witty banter between colt and juliana is perfect.
    This game WOULD be a 10, the glitches do pull it    Deathloop has by far some of the most unique and deep level design i have ever seen.     I bought this blind having not seen anything about it. I’m so glad I did as I probably wouldn’t have bought it because it isn’t the type I would normally buy. I don’t like straight shoot em ups. This is such a unique game with really interesting game mechanics. The art and music style is like nothing else I’ve played. My favourite thing is the puzzle solving and exploration aspect to thisI bought this blind having not seen anything about it.     Короче, в игре всего четыре карты и четыре временных отрезка дня, так что путём не сложных подсчётов имеем 16 более менее отличающихся    Вот решил попробовать Deathloop в подписке PS Plus.
    Очень странная игра для Arkane. Я думал, что Mooncrash, единственное длс для Prey, это просто эксперимент, неудачный эксперимент. Но, как вижу, студия прям пропиталась идеей создать игру о "Дне сурка".
    Короче, в игре всего четыре карты и четыре временных отрезка дня, так что путём не сложных подсчётов имеем 16 более менее отличающихся карт. Хотя по сути это всё те же четыре уровня, только в зависимости от времени суток, нас выпускают в разных точках, проходы могут быть закрыты или открыты, может светить солнце, а может падать снег. Всё.
    По началу я запутался во всём этом сюжете как в лабиринте, но со временем всё становилось яснее.
    Стрелять удобно, есть уйма настроек помогающих стрелять или делающих стрельбу более сложной. В игре 8 стволов (каждый трёх уровней), плюс 3 золотых ствола и 3 золотых снайперки с разными характеристиками. Но казус в том, что где то через два часа игры я нашел некие золотые пистолеты "Стрелак Версо", которые можно объединить в один пистолет пулемёт. И... всё, это оружие заменяет и автомат, и дробовик, и отчасти снайперку, с обоймой до 96 патронов! Невероятно мощное оружие. Всю игру прошел только с ним. Как то даже обидно за прочие пушки.
    Скажу одно, картинка в игре выглядит устаревшей. Почему она вышла только на новом поколении, понять трудно. При том HDR работает ужасно, на улице всё засвечено, но стоит зайти в помещение хоть глаз коли. И настроить это невозможно, пришлось HDR выключить.
    Все враги, включая "боссов" это однотипные, безликие болванчики. ИИ отсутствует как таковой, прут напролом, десятками, а иногда сотнями.
    Вся прокачка, это подбор стволов и неких брелоков, которыми можно улучшить героя или оружие, к концу игры и стволы и брелоки вываливаются просто десятками.
    Игра очень, очень однотипна, бэктрекинг естественно просто зашкаливает. Но как не странно, весь этот цирк очень затягивает. Проходя уровни по 10 раз начинаешь строить какую то тактику прохождения, хотя к концу я тупо пробегал, особо не заморачиваясь.
    Итак, подведу итог. Как я уже сказал, Deathloop, как не странно, затягивает. Но я, честно говоря, не хотел бы что бы студия Arkane ещё делала подобные игры. Есть id Software и всякие мясные, бездумные шутаны это её поле деятельности. Arkane же мне больше нравилась как автор приключенческих игр, таких как Dark Messiah, Dishonored, Prey. Пусть делает то, что у неё получается лучше всего. И ещё, Arkane Studios, картинку в играх пора менять!    … Expand

    Imagine you take Dishonored, and combine it into one whole journey with really great time looping abilities and it is a masterpiece that was a former PS5 exclusive. Gameplay was on point, graphics was beautiful, the story is complicated but fun, and overall it is my favorite game of 2021, my favorite Arkane game next to Dishonored and 2017’s Prey and this is a game where I pretend thatImagine you take Dishonored, and combine it into one whole journey with really great time looping abilities and it is a masterpiece that was a former PS5 exclusive.     I am not the type of guy who doesn't finish games but this one I just couldn't. After progressing long enough I had no energy to continue on. The combat is unbalanced AI is dumb and there is no risk factor other than the raid the antagonist does.

    This games amazing. Takes a minute to get used to the mechanics, but the gameplay and storyline work great together with all the guns and special abilities.

    A very mediocre game and Arkane's laziest work in my opinion (and I love Dishonored). Very boring, repetitive, and forgettable. I do not recommend playing this one at all.

    I love Arkane's work. Dishonored and its story DLC is arguably my favourite stealth/immersive sim game and I always find myself replaying it. I don't adore Dishonored 2/DOTO nearly as much, but still think they're enjoyable experiences in their own right. Prey is fantastic, criminally overlooked, and its DLC, Mooncrash, is possibly even better. It seemed like this game was meant to be the idea of Mooncrash expanded into a full-blown experience. The end result is a game that's *fine*, but far from Arkane's best work IMO.

    The concept is cool, but the story and characters end up being just ok. Colt is an entertaining protagonist, but not a whole lot is done with Juliana and a lot of the stuff with her, particularly her relationship with Colt and the loop, falls flat due to the lack of character development/screen time. I also think the three possible endings are all pretty lacklustre, but I doubt narrative is the reason people play Arkane games.

    Investigating the eight visionaries and planning a route where you can assassinate all of them to break the loop sounds like a neat concept, but is botched where it counts. Investigating is largely non-linear, suffers from a bit of hand-holding, but is ultimately satisfying. The problem, is that there's only one route you can take to break the loop. Certain visionaries have to be killed in certain places, and at certain times, which kills a lot of potential replay value. There's also no option to go non-lethal with these guys, which I'm sure most won't take issue with, but it's definitely worth mentioning. I know that the idea of violence and murder is core to the theme and narrative but I think a lot of people play these games for player choice.

    Speaking of player choice, there's an okay amount of it here, but its extremely lacking in comparison to games like Prey and Dishonored. The biggest offender is that you can only have two of the five powers equipped at any given time, and you can't change this until you move to another district. I'd argue that most players will have Shift on most of the time for traversal's sake, meaning you only have one slot for whichever power you want. Additionally, none of these powers are particularly unique or new. Karnesis is similar to Windblast, just with directional inputs. Nexus works like Domino, just as an AoE projectile now, Shift is Blink, Aether makes you invisible, and Havoc has you deal more damage and take less. For a game that encourages you to 'play your way' it feels needlessly restrictive and watered down because of the lack of unique powers and equipment.

    There are some things the game does well, like the Infusion system which allows you to bind items to Colt cross-loop. You really have to think about what to spend your Residuum on between runs, which makes for some great delineation of what to keep and what to chuck Player controlled Juliana invasions are great, incredibly tense and arguably the best part of the game when it works. The initial groove of building up an arsenal of powers and weapons has a strong sense of progression, and you really feel like you learn about the loop alongside Colt. Gun-play feels great overall, weapons are fun to play around with, great soundtrack, sense of style, and theme.

    Random thoughts
    - Weapon rarity feels half-baked and pointless
    - Opening hours/tutorial sections are boring
    - Districts seem big at first, but are quite small, and lacking content
    - AI is way too easy for a game like this, and lacks difficulty options

    I think that this game will do wonders for some, and I'm glad that they can enjoy it for what it is. I think if you haven't played Mooncrash, the novelty and concept of the loop will carry a lot of the experience. For me, this just didn't hit, and I'm disappointed because I was really excited for it. I don't think it's bad per se, but not worth it at full price, especially given its technical state which I won't comment on, there's enough of that around already. It's a perfectly fine game, but if you like Arkane game's for their depth, replay value, and player choice, you might want to hold off on "DEATHLOOP" until it's a bit cheaper.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For starters one of the more interesting themes for a game I’ve played in a long time and the story was very good. The dialogue between Colt and Julianna is amazingly written and portrayed even better. The controls are great never had a problem remembering any control binds.
    The game has a lot of exposition which if you like that kinda stuff this game is definitely for you. The endgame was kind of disappointing with each of the 3 choices leading you to a rather disappointing ending. The game has some of the worst AI I’ve experienced in a game, on launch day I had lots of bugs and a few crashes but after the first day the game ran smooth with no problems. It took me 14 hours to beat the game, that was with me looking around and searching like I usually do. If you knew what you were doing you could probably beat it a lot faster. I feel an 8 is a pretty fair rating, It’s too bad any PS fan who likes this game won’t be able to play a sequel thanks to MS.    … Expand

If you die in the gas chamber or ice, then you lose everything, wasting hours of collecting residuum. It's a game for children with hours of their life to waste on some boolean values. If you have a job, this is not for you

    I think the concept is cool but it's gets pretty old pretty fast and I feel in a genre as oversaturated as the FPS genre you have to do something unique in your gameplay and this just comes off as generic. I do like the main character and the way his story is presented.

    The well known menu bug still exists even after the last patch. This bug makes the game unplayable, because you have to restart the game when it occurs and because there are no saves within a day you will lose all your progress on that day. If you‘re unlucky, several hours of effort are gone. It occured to me twice within 4 hours of total playtime. 4 Hours of wasted life.

    I havent finished it yet, it gets kinda hard at the end even with all the upgraded weapons. I like the visuals, gameplay, and characters. It's fun and immersive, just a bit repetitive, especially frustrating when you die. It's a slog to finish, but I'm enjoying it.

    Solid, SOLID game. Super fun and intriguing plot. Art direction and presentation are goated. The only gripe I have is that multiplayer is the default when I just wanna engage with the single-player experience. I'm glad the option was available to shut off the invading aspects. It's a cool concept, but not for me.

    This is seriously a must-play

    This game is horrible and overhyped. Menu system is horrible and outdated, the game is a repetitive mess, the characters are not likeable (annoying sounding protagonist and antagonist), and the game has tons of freezing and crashes. Avoid this trash!

    Just like all Arkhanes games it's starts out with interesting ideas and ends as a mess of broken systems and undercooked ideas. Unlike their other games Deathloop is borrowing and cringe from the get go, not even the first 10 hours are fun or interesting.

    I really love this game. If you liked Dishonored I feel you'll love this aswell.

    Slightly held back because I feel there's a lack of options towards the endgame and the buildup is very slow. Takes a lot of hours to get into it and the game spoonfeeds you a lot of stuff.

    Still a great game.

    I did not like Deathloop due to the following: 1. Dated Graphics, this game could have been made on PS3. The Dishonored series looks    Literally one of the most over hyped game of the new generation. I just stopped playing due to boredom and the lack of meaningful engagement.     I did not like Deathloop due to the following:

    1. Dated Graphics, this game could have been made on PS3. The Dishonored series looks better than Deathloop.

    3. There's nothing next generation about this game. The dishonored series has better sound effects, level design, and everything else.
    4. if you played and loved Dishonored you will hate this game.
    5. AI is beyond bad.
    6. Sound effects are terrible

    This game gets boring very fast. Same repetitive gameplay. The story is uninteresting. I found myself rushing to finish the level just to see if the game would get better. I would try to play stealthily but the stealth mechanics are bad. I thought it was supposed to be like dishonored. Dishonored was awesome. Like hell is this a 10 out of 10 game.

Another part of the gameplay is finding clues to discover how to take out all the visionaries in the same day by making efficient use of the 4 times of day completing objectives in the 4 levels, all of which require completion at a certain time of day. This was fun to do.

    Gameplay was really fun at first, but started getting tedious after 10h or so - same weapons, same (stupid) enemies, same 4 relatively small maps, same powers. Story really hooked me at the start but the ending felt a bit underwhelming, the game left a lot of stuff unexplained. Cool art direction. Nice music and voice acting. The game had a lot of potential but ended up just solid.

    Despite great looking animations and overall style of the game, it is a mess.
    Repetitive as hell, you will have to do same thing over and over, I know the concept, but when you need to run throw whole location to turn a switch to run second location and get a piece of paper to make this 4 more times.     Whole story is consistent of UI mess and a tons of letter / notes and other staff that I have beed bored to read after 1st hours. Resurrection is special threat - if you die in crowded location, you will respawn in the same place, which leads to two more death and loop to reload. Please spare yourself and don’t play it.     I had so many expectations! The concept was so intriguing. There were a time, when I thought it could be an interesting stealth aspect, however it works really clumsy.
    On the other side, going shooting all over the place works disappointing as well - you could die easily and loose all your progress.

    However I got bored before i got to that one, so I just spent about 5-6 hours running circles.
    Literally, I had to start the game all over again 3 times, because I died))) That's how this concept works)
    Also, game feels really small scaled, cause there're only 4 locations, where you can go in the morning, evening etc.

    Good Bethesda style games, although the map itself is pretty repetitive (4 maps with 4 different time slots, so at most 16 combinations) but you will have new discovery every time via different mission and there are a lot of hidden spots for you to discover. I enjoy the atmosphere and humor too! I just want more choice of weapons, and maybe a bit of variables in each loop?     Very ambitious game. Most of my problems with the game come from me just not liking stealth-based games - especially FPS stealth games. But that aside, the game was just mostly very monotonous to me. Very cool conceptually, the best Arkane-style gameplay yet, but it just wore thin relatively quickly for me.

    I read all these reviews praising this game, I dont get it. This game is so cheezy. I cant get into it. I keep trying but I dont know, I loose interest within a half hour. I keep giving this game an honest try but for some reason it just doesn't do it for me. You die and return back to retry everything. Kinda like returnal.     Some technical issues are still present, which is quite something when you consider they had one more year to fix bugs on the Xbox version.

    Just great gameplay, nice soundtrack and great story. You can expand your experience just how much you would like. You can chase all the storylines, or you could explore. I found every loop more fun, because of my improved mechanics. The first couple of loops you are not so powerful, but later on with my improved slabs i could be invisible, transform myself to another place in no time.Just great gameplay, nice soundtrack and great story.     I honestly don't understand how this is a 10/10 for so many professional critics. For many games that get universal praise I can see what is so appealing as to why it may get that score even if it's not exactly "for me" or my kind of game. But Deathloop.. The loop cycle is so cool and interesting to see how each area changes depending on the time of day - makes you want to come back to areas to try different ways of taking out the visionaries.     It just isn’t fun to play. It’s a bit jerky and weird. I can see they pit a lot of effort in but its not for me.I can walk right past people. The AI is very bad.

    Customization options are decent. The UI is good. Multiplayer is fun. I did experience some bugs that popped up in the    Awesome game! Great environment and art style. One mission in particular has a poor layout. It allows you to trigger an optional event but gives you no clear way to escape unless you die.

    Deathloop is the first Arkane game that I have ever finished so that says a lot. I tried getting into Dishonored but always got bored by the halfway point. I just could not get into Corvo or the plot.

    Deathloop was an entirely different story. From the beginning I was invested in Colt and helping him break the loop. One of the best AAA games I have played in a while and is a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend especially if you can pick it up on sale. Great job Arkane!    … Expand

    Deathloop was incredible. I just finished and I'm already planning to play through again. I loved the cause and effect mechanics in the game that would have a butterfly effect as you progressed. I also enjoyed trying. all of the weapons, gadgets, and unique abilities. My only (very minor) issue was the ending could have been a little better.

    Funny, exciting, Colt is great and I really like the story.
    I wish it had been longer: I would have liked to know more about the characters and more gadgets. But overall, it's great. It gave me a lot of Bioshock's vibes.

    Avoid if you are planning on using a controller. The game feels awful to play if you have a bit of experience with first person shooters. The sensitivity seems to do almost nothing when you crank it up or down, and there are no real fixes for the issue. The game might've been great if they were to fix this issue, but it is unlikely given the age if the game.

    Death loop is one of those games that have a unique hou that is good enough to put you through the game even if some parts you don't know what to do. The art style and production value are top-notch. I really enjoyed it and especially the voice acting was good.The game took me 10 hours to complete just good amount of time for this kind of game.

    Will take you a few missions to wrap your head around deathloop as a bit confusing in the beginning and you’ll ask yourself why are you doing the same mission twice but once you’re on top of things you’re in for one hell of a shooter. Stealth and fight mechs are top notch as well as story and the signature Arkane art style. Hope there is a second for this.

It's well-executed in the sense that there is a large amount of player agency in the game world, and depending upon the order of the levels you visit, and the actions you take, you can affect future visits in the day, or even other areas. It also reminded me a lot of Alpha Protocol, as there is a large amount of game reactivity and consequences to the choices that you make. The game is filled with puzzles and mysteries, and a lot of the fun comes from discovering how to unlock them for yourself, because although there is some hand-holding in the form of main quest tracking, a lot of the puzzles in the game give little information on how to solve them, and require a lot of exploration and a bit of luck to figure out. The combat is well-implemented and fair. Your character is powerful, but can get easily overwhelmed if you draw too much attention to yourself.

    There is one glaring flaw, which is that the game only saves at the beginning of every mission. So if the game crashes, you have to replay the entire level. This is very bad, because there are no manual saves, and levels can take hours to complete. I was finishing up one level and heading towards the exit when the game crashed. Boom. I'm out 1+ hours. This is extremely frustrating. Most games with a single save profile like Dark Souls, or rogue-lite games, save repeatedly while you play. This is good design, and what Deathloop should have had.

    Another poorly implemented mechanic are the online Julia fights. Do yourself a favor, and immediately turn off the online feature in the game, because if it's on, other players can invade your world as Julia. These players have been playing far longer than you, and have much better equipment. As someone who lived and died by Dark Souls PvP, this is completely stupid in a game where if you die, an enormous amount of work can be undone. I was killed in 2 seconds by a player-controlled Julia and set back several hours.    … Expand

    The game is extremely fun to play and could spend over an hour on just one objective trying to go through defeating all the enemies. I would say the gameplay is the best thing about this game.

    I enjoyed the storyline which I found interesting and easy to follow. On top of the interesting looping concept.

    The online mode is fun when it works (but it rarely does). You can spend 10-15 mins waiting to connect for a 5 minute game.

    The AI are okay in this game. When you are spotted, not every NPC finds you straight away unless you are in a crowded area. They can also lose sight of you if you run away fast enough. I find they are pretty realistic compared to other games. They can be a bit too easy though.

    I dont like the in game menu as you spend ages in this trying to upgrade your gear and it can be confusing at first.

    Overall this game is really fun to play for a few hours. For me the only things that bring it down is the online play, the in game menus and the fact that the AI can be easy to run away from.    … Expand

Getting spawn-camped and instantly killed from an invasion after getting hours into a run is demoralizing and just makes you want to put the game down.     Absolutely unique and fun, stealth is optional but advised. You can absolutely go guns blazing but this game also rewards patience and stealth. Love the gun play and the characters.

    I really enjoyed the game story and untangling the mystery... Time looping was a fascinating mechanic to me (but probably because I've never played similar game before). PS5 dual sense was amazing experience for me as well. Overall, it was a great game greatly enjoyed from the beginning to the end. I broke out from the loop!

    It's like going back in time and playing a PS3 game, only with better resolution. Everything else feels like it was made 15 years ago. Nothing worse than an FPS that doesn't allow you to interact with anything at all in the world, even shooting objects or knifing walls renders dissapointing results that I'd have expected in the Playstation 3 era.

    I thought the first few hours of the game were alright, but towards the end it got so stale and boring, jesus… the game literally wastes your time. The gameplay is trash, gunplay is boring, AI is dumb. Im lucky i got this game on sale. Garbage

    I had high hopes for this game due to loving Dishonored but sadly I find this game more frustrating than fun. It's more of a rinse and repeat with annoying graphics. Sadly this game is not for me but don't be put off by 0 reviews. There are some people giving this game high reviews so remember everyone's opinion is different.

    Compared to Dishonored games, Deathloop is definitely not as mysterious in its storytelling, but it would be a lie to say that characters and the world are not charming and wonderful. If you've enjoyed Dishonored's gameplay, this is that but crazier and more open to a non-stealth approach. Highly recommend.

    I think there was a foundation for something really amazing here but it just missed. The 2 main characters were greatly acted and portrayed and the story was there but we had very little connection to the other “bosses”. Other then hearing there names all time, no interaction at all. Terrible ending as well. Glad is was over . Would like to see a revamped sequel though.

    The game starts off being somewhat fun, but after a while with a glitchy menu that forces you to close the game an restart all over again along with an utterly horrible UI that is supposed to help you navigate objectives an figure things out (which it fails to do most of the time) I don't find any enjoyment in the game now.

    The leads for things don't work an I guess my game is bugged now because I cannot even complete the lead for reading Franks minicom even after googling it the stupid objective will not complete at all evwn after looping the day multiple times an doing all sorts of things players have recommended. So glad I didn't pay full price for this game because I knew it would be trash coming from Bethesda.

    On top of this all you have are a bunch of reused assets that get boring to look at after a day or two don't see myself buying another thing from them at this rate as they still cannot make a game without basic features that works correctly.    … Expand

    Deathloop offers well-designed stealth levels under the core gameplay of Roguelike. At the same time, the variety of weapons and special powers also support the exciting combat. Julianna's "invasion" adds the uncertainty of the game, but may also spoil the player's experience.

    I’m honestly surprised, because I did not expect to have so much fun with Deathloop. It draws some gameplay ideas from Dishonored, but introduces time-related mechanics, offers an intriguing story with interesting characters and has its own unique and coherent style. It’s an original game, full of surprises and addictive, but not necessarily easily digestible for everyone. For me however it’s one of the best titles of 2021. [11/2021, p.22]

    Deathloop is Arkane at its best, combining its system-driven immersive-sim gameplay with a unique and fascinating story set-up. Excellent presentation and style, along with fantastic dialogue and character performances makes Deathloop one of the most innovative games in years and a valuable PS5 exclusive.
