    Very over-rated by reviewers. As a fan of Arkane's Dishonored I was disappointed in the 4 small areas that need to be explored multiple times. The combat is not precise and shooting is very bad, AI of the enemies is laughable you can run rings around them so stealth is pointless. Really don't understand the 'masterpiece' reviews - this has numerous bugs, crashes to home screen, freezes &Very over-rated by reviewers. As a fan of Arkane's Dishonored I was disappointed in the 4 small areas that need to be explored multiple times.     This game looks and runs great on PS5 and is technically impressive. That being said, I do not enjoy the game at all. I have no clue what I am doing or what I should be doing. Every time I enter a new section of the game I am greeted with a dozen prompts explaining how the game works to me. It's that feeling of unboxing a new board game and trying to decipher how the hell you play and whatThis game looks and runs great on PS5 and is technically impressive.     It is exactly what it is. A time loop in the same 4 maps over and over again.
    After the first hours of gameplay, you will grow very tired of the mechanics of this game.
    You´ll grow so tired of it to the point of making you sick.
    I never returned to Deathloop again. And i never will.
    Go with Hades or Returnal instead. Much better.

    Could the developers have even got any further up their own backsides with this game?

    Frustrating as there’s an amazing and playable game in there somewhere. Bad. Really bad. Just not fun.

    All the positively scored reviews that this game has makes no sense.

    The only positive thing about this game is the gameplay. But beyond that, everything is just very meh or really bad. The only time when some kind of story emerges is towards the end and it's very tame of an end in terms of the themes the game is trying to explore. Here, because it's so easy and the AI is so terrible, even if you find a "smart" way to do what you set out to do, you don't feel like you've accomplished anything.     I am not the type of guy who doesn't finish games but this one I just couldn't. After progressing long enough I had no energy to continue on. The combat is unbalanced AI is dumb and there is no risk factor other than the raid the antagonist does.

The variety of weapons are slim and the modifications to them don’t feel like they change the performance of the gun much at all. The powers I just didn’t find vary fun to use, and they all seemed like lesser versions of dishonored’s powers. The stealth is fine pretty standard stealth system nothing really bad to say here. The A.I are so incredibly inconsistent that you could kill someone 3 inches from them and they won’t notice, but if your 3 floors above an enemy and bump into a bottle they’ll sound the alarms! The game also has a lot of bugs to work out from FPS drops to Clipping through objects.

    It’s not all bad though, the atmosphere is immersive, the levels "the few there are" are well designed, the voice acting is stellar, and the story is great! Overall I didn’t enjoy the game much at all, I relished the moments that I got to hear Colt and Julliana talk to each other because it was the best part of the game for me. The gameplay just really missed the mark on this one, it’s a damm shame.    … Expand

    What a convoluted mess of a game. I tried to be patient with it, I had to fight really hard to try to make it through the “tutorial” part of the game. At first I started getting into being able to enter any part of the map at any time of the day and it started to connect with me, but the more I played the more I saw the flaws in the design. The mechanic sort of feels like Majora’s Mask, where the world has NPCs that have a routine, but since time does not actually progress and you have to select the times, the four times end up feeling like four separate levels. Majora’s Mask created a better environment that felt more alive than this game, and that was 20 years ago. Then next comes the gameplay, which feels extremely clunky and awkward. Everything from the way your character moves to the way the guns handle just feels really awkward even after you get a hang of it. It makes the combat feel very unsatisfying, and it makes the stealth feel like it was designed for a PS2 era game. The AI is also atrocious, I don’t think I’ve seen AI this bad before. The entire concept of the game is pretty cool, but the execution was terrible. The plot isn’t very good, it’s just super convoluted, any time it starts to hook you a little bit it just loses you for another hour, and the world isn’t that interesting. The graphics are shockingly dated, they almost feel like an early PS4 game or high resolution PS3 game. Everything down to the controls are just confusing and not intuitive at all. Remember how bad the marketing was for this game, because no matter how many trailers they put out, you still didn’t understand it? That’s what the game feels like, except it’s not even saved by the gameplay. The voice acting is probably the only good thing about the game. It’s not unplayable by any means, but I just don’t have the time to sit there and force myself to pretend I’m having anything other than a terrible time. The fact that this game got a critic score of 86 and was nominated for GOTY, yet the user review score sits at 6.3 makes me really distrust critic reviews even more.     I often find myself able to relate to critics scores. If a game is receiving 10’s, I’ll usually find some kind of enjoyment in it. With Deathloop, however, I cannot relate nor recommend this game. The graphics are not up to par (I find dishonored has better art direction and often looks better), the controls are abhorrent, and the gameplay loop is extremely boring.     Just couldn't get into this game. If you like Returnal on PS5 or Dishonored, you probably will like this. I didn't like either. You either like it or hate it.

    Not engaging and found myself having to force myself to play. Game is a shadow compared to bioshock and is essentially dishonored in clothing with a gimmick.

    Everything is so unnatural. In fact, it's that bad that I can't really play the game for more than half an hour without getting motion sick. After days of playing, I slightly adapted. But the controls still feel like sh*t. This is absolutely not acceptable. How did reviewers give this game anything above a 8? It could be as fun as possible but these controls ruin everything.

    After you've gone through the first minutes and accepted the controls are terrible, you encounter something that's EVEN WORSE: The AI.

    I don't get how you could make the AI that stupid, unaware and predictable. You can walk straight past the AI, they won't notice you. Shoot people, they won't notice you. Shoot explosives into the ground next to them, they won't notice. It's that bad. Yet the AI is like everything the game has to offer? It's like start cycle, go there, slaughter AI, do X, go there, slaughter AI, do X, and so on, ..., repeat cycle, and slaughter them again. Yet killing them is the most boring, unrewarding and most unengaging gameplay you could ever imagine. The AI is so bad, you can just run through every area and just kill them as if it's cod, without any consequences. And that's not even bad, that's the only thing that's actually fun doing in the game.

    Now to the good things, respect where it's due you know:

    The characters and voice acting are amazing! They're absolutely spot on and the only thing that make this game enjoyable. Also the games design & music is actually amazing, even though the 3D audio and Graphics are very lackluster. Also gotta give credit to making use of the Dualsense. It's far from being as great as in Astros playroom or returnal, but at least makes the game a little bit more enjoyable.

    But as these are the only good things I suggest you watch a playthrough from your favorite YouTuber or streamer. You'll only miss out on the Dualsense but that's absolutely not worth spending money on. Get any other game instead.    … Expand

    Bought the game for 35 €, hyped by the reviews…3 hours into it and I am already bored. The idea of revisiting the same maps over and over again got me frustrated already!. Boring, repetitive and frustrating.

    A very mediocre game and Arkane's laziest work in my opinion (and I love Dishonored). Very boring, repetitive, and forgettable. I do not recommend playing this one at all.

    I think the concept is cool but it's gets pretty old pretty fast and I feel in a genre as oversaturated as the FPS genre you have to do something unique in your gameplay and this just comes off as generic. I do like the main character and the way his story is presented.

    The AI in this game is terrible and reminds me of the bots that used to be in Counter Strike before they redid the game in the source engine. Aiming is sloppy and imprecise. The guns have no visceral impact. Really wish I could return games via the PS-Store like you can on steam.

    Buyer Beware! The random freezes and crashes this game experiences are very frustrating as you are not able to save mid missions. You will loose alot of progress. While the game has potential I highly recommend waiting a while before purchasing as the freezing will ruin the experience. I returned for a refund

    After great Corvo Attano and Morgan Yu they come with this? Shallow character, silly esthetics. Their upcoming game with vampires looks even worse... What happened Arkane? Bought both Dishonored games day 1 with all dlcs and Prey but I'm not touching this one.

    While this game has some cool qualities, it suffers from bland graphics that in no way deserve the rare masterpiece score that mainstream sites in this country are giving it. And even worse, the AI is not very good. I honestly can't figure out why a game that did not release on PS4 doesn't have better graphics and AI.

    If you want ray tracing and 60fps, I would suggest you try the PC version, except that the user score over there is even worse, because of crashing, stuttering, and stability issues, along with weird input lag. As expected the PS5 version does not freeze or crash very often. I have loved Bethesda games, especially Fallout 3, 4 and Skyrim. But this one is not on that level. The PVP is a lag fest. Recommend you wait and have people join you rather than join them. Lots of rage quitters when you put them down twice.

    People will say disgruntled Playstation fans review bombed the game as this game is produced by a Microsoft owned company, but if that was the only reason for bad reviews, why is the PC user score worse?    … Expand

    I wonder why i ever listen to these critic sites, they almost always hype poor games and never even mention the best ones until the gamers speak with sales and replay value. But Bethesda has lost its edge in the gaming world and being bought by Microsoft hasn't helped it any but i sure wouldn't want my name on this game its a super buggy dishonored 2, the people praising this just love aI wonder why i ever listen to these critic sites, they almost always hype poor games and never even mention the best ones until the gamers speak with sales and replay value.     Bang on average game, looks nice and runs pretty clean most the time but the game itself is actually pretty trash. The AI is some of the worst ive ever come across if you are used to arkanes dishonered trust me you are better of replaying both of those games than shelling out $100 for this. maybe takes 10-15 hours to beat its laughably easy with the AI being so bad. this game will end upBang on average game, looks nice and runs pretty clean most the time but the game itself is actually pretty trash.     What is wrong with media giving such high scores to this game? Prey/Dishonored were masterpieces by comparison. It's below average and boring, with reused assets and abilities. Worth a buy when it's 5$ ... maybe

    If you're going to make a game where progress and loot is lost when you die and provide no save system, then you better make damn sure the gameplay is engaging, the story grips and the characters are likeable. NONE of this is the case here.

    The game starts off being somewhat fun, but after a while with a glitchy menu that forces you to close the game an restart all over again along with an utterly horrible UI that is supposed to help you navigate objectives an figure things out (which it fails to do most of the time) I don't find any enjoyment in the game now.

    The leads for things don't work an I guess my game is bugged now because I cannot even complete the lead for reading Franks minicom even after googling it the stupid objective will not complete at all evwn after looping the day multiple times an doing all sorts of things players have recommended. So glad I didn't pay full price for this game because I knew it would be trash coming from Bethesda.

    On top of this all you have are a bunch of reused assets that get boring to look at after a day or two don't see myself buying another thing from them at this rate as they still cannot make a game without basic features that works correctly.    … Expand

    Deathloop is a disaster. All you do in this game is being confused, because of the overcomplicated tutorial/describtions. Story is also very confusing unless you are a genius to understand it.     An obvious glorified reskin, IGN's 10 is enough to set off alarm-bells.....what looks like a 10 about this game? Maybe an 8.5 at the top range...more likely a 7-8.
    Boring, too easy and with a very last gen aesthetic and many technical issues.
    Massively disappointing.

    Literally one of the most over hyped game of the new generation. I just stopped playing due to boredom and the lack of meaningful engagement. The graphic are mediocre, the sound is mediocre, there's no story and it feels like it's missing something.

    I did not like Deathloop due to the following: 1. Dated Graphics, this game could have been made on PS3. Not to mention the innumerable performance issues (don’t know about PS5 version, but in PC is a bit of a mess), the gameplay and the story aren’t nothing new. It obviously borrows a lot from Bioshock, but it's controls, looks, and menus feel like it's from 2007. It's stealth mechanics are too janky to be a stealth game, it's shooting feels like you're in mud so it's a bad shooter. The menus are the worst I've ever seen in a game, I have no idea what'sI feel like I'm not even playing the same game as those who gave it rave reviews. This is bad.     i finished the game it was so easy. Once you unlock some things like invisibility or multi-kill it's very boring. It's really doesn't worth the money. I don't understand why IGN gave it a 10/10 Masterpiece. This game is crap!

    This game gets boring very fast. Same repetitive gameplay. The story is uninteresting. I found myself rushing to finish the level just to see if the game would get better. I would try to play stealthily but the stealth mechanics are bad. I thought it was supposed to be like dishonored. Dishonored was awesome. Like hell is this a 10 out of 10 game.

    Just like all Arkhanes games it's starts out with interesting ideas and ends as a mess of broken systems and undercooked ideas. Unlike their other games Deathloop is borrowing and cringe from the get go, not even the first 10 hours are fun or interesting.

    This should have been 40 bucks. It feels like DLC for dishonered but with framerate drops and textures glitching. The levels look like they're from Dishonered but with some 60s stuff thrown in. I really don't get why this received such high reviews.

The bland graphics, wierd 60's style and rubbish enemies are all very mediocre especially for an 80 euro new gen game. There is a lack of atmosphere compared to Dishonoured and Prey two of my favorite games.     Sorry to write this, but it's completely impossible to play RT mode on PS5. The mode itself looks disgusting (what happens to the shadows cannot be described in words), so it also starts at 30fps. Dear Arkane Games, please fix RT mode to PC level and make it 60fps. I really like the game, but what happens to the technical part is just awful.

    The mission/lead setup seems novel at first but you quickly realise everyone plays exactly the same and it all takes place on 4 areas which are about the size of an average 6v6 cod map which obviously gets tedious very quickly especially as you keep having to go in and out of areas and advancing time and figuring stuff out yourself and repeating over and over and over again. It’s so unrewarding and doesn’t match the grossly outdated gameplay. The story seems decent but it’s a chore to follow with all the hoops you have to jump through just to play the game. This game feels like a £20 indie rather than a full priced headliner. Worth that price if you are willing to do almost all immersive legwork yourself and don’t mind an extremely slow paced repetitive grind. Otherwise avoid.    … Expand

I keep giving this game an honest try but for some reason it just doesn't do it for me. You die and return back to retry everything. Kinda like returnal.     It's currently unplayable due to a bug where you cannot exit the menu. I'm waiting for a patch to fix it before playing any further. I suggest others don't buy the game until it is fixed.

    After Dishonored was good, but the sequels were not i was worried about this. And yeah its not great. Main characters are not likable, we can't the player character at all. Very few areas and its only one day repeated. Its a trial and error to pass this, you don't feel get any sense of progression from playing like other Bethesda games.

    This game is a huge steaming pile of garbage. The AI in this game is literally the second worst AI I ever encountered in a AAA videogame. Only second to the worst game I ever played in my life, Cyberpunk 2077. The dumb AI didn't notice me when I was right in front of them. And when they did, they can't even be consistent.     The graphics are terrible and look very cartoonish. This whole "artstyle" stuff is just an excuse for developers to be cheap and lazy. When I pay $60, I expect high quality visuals, especially if it is a next-gen only game. The loop stuff is also an excuse to make the short campaign longer. The sound effects are laugable. The animations are trash. The physics are beyond horrible. The textures are pathetic, especially the water textures.

    The multiplayer is so boring. You can only play 1v1 invasion. No team deathmatch, no capture the flag, no nothing. The greedy developers were too cheap and lazy to develop a multiplayer that can hold at least 4 players. I don't recommend this game at all. Nothing in this game screams next-gen.     Gameplay: ver boring, it takes several steps back from what you could do with dishonored and dishonored 2.
    Graphics: somehow the game looks worse than the footage we saw before the delay, which already looked bad.
    Story: boring and predictable.
    Conclusion: avoid this game, it is not worth it, Arkane simply have lost their touch.

    Despite great looking animations and overall style of the game, it is a mess.
    Repetitive as hell, you will have to do same thing over and over, I know the concept, but when you need to run throw whole location to turn a switch to run second location and get a piece of paper to make this 4 more times.     Whole story is consistent of UI mess and a tons of letter / notes and other staff that I have beed bored to read after 1st hours. Resurrection is special threat - if you die in crowded location, you will respawn in the same place, which leads to two more death and loop to reload. Please spare yourself and don’t play it.     Dishonored reskin. Looks like a ps3 game. Thank God we live in these times where you can actually see gameplay online as opposed to having lived 20yrs ago and buying the game randomly and hoping it doesn’t suck. This is a hard pass for me.

    It's a enough good game, while we know that right now there is no new cool games among all remasters and remakes. It feels Arkane's love for details and multiple ways to go through. But there is many bugs and sometimes I don't want to believe that Arkane make such buggy project. Also ending is not satisfied.
    Still the game is cool. And it's cooler the most of latest new title.

    Basically HITMAN "find target" mechanic with some Dishonored gun feeling.
    Pretty bad. I'd give it a 4 but i wanna lower this to 0 so people bombing it to 10 stop fanboying over a game that adds nothing new to the table since hitman already did it.

    Разработчики в наше время обнаглели совсем, выпуская "сырые" игры. Игра лагает на консоли, это второй киберпанк. Ну если отбросить все баги игра не затягивает и после прохождения в нее не хочется возвращаться.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Your character dies in the end regardless of what decisions you make. Game crashes non-stop on PC. Clunky controls and aim sensitivity maxed takes like a full 3 seconds to do a 360° spin. Will rate it a 4/10 when those are fixed, because this game still kinda sucks… Expand

    Deathloop offers well-designed stealth levels under the core gameplay of Roguelike. At the same time, the variety of weapons and special powers also support the exciting combat. Julianna's "invasion" adds the uncertainty of the game, but may also spoil the player's experience.

    I’m honestly surprised, because I did not expect to have so much fun with Deathloop. It draws some gameplay ideas from Dishonored, but introduces time-related mechanics, offers an intriguing story with interesting characters and has its own unique and coherent style. It’s an original game, full of surprises and addictive, but not necessarily easily digestible for everyone. For me however it’s one of the best titles of 2021. [11/2021, p.22]

    Deathloop is Arkane at its best, combining its system-driven immersive-sim gameplay with a unique and fascinating story set-up. Excellent presentation and style, along with fantastic dialogue and character performances makes Deathloop one of the most innovative games in years and a valuable PS5 exclusive.
