    another fine example of pay to win BS. multiplayer is fun, but not when you're level 24 and you are playig against people with level 3000+ and higher, and have guns with zero recoil and heat vision. but don't fret, if you don't want to grind to get better gear, you can just buy better guns for actual money. so yes on to[p of the $$ for the game, you'll have to spend more just to compete.

    Got it for free on PS plus, I really wanted to like this game but even for free it's not worth playing, very poor game. I pity the people who've paid for this scam of a game. I thought about mentioning the errors and flaws in my review but you can write off the entire game as a huge error, RIP call of duty. I'm not going to give this franchise another chance even for free... Pathetic game

    nice bug with a grenade launcher in the last mission, I had to reload the mission by 10 for this bug to disappear

    Absolute garbage made by greedy bastards. I have to wait hours to install something that I won't even play (multiplayer, zombies, and other crap). Then I have to have internet connection, playstation plus, stupid amount of storage, and download campaign separately to play this game. Complete disregard for a non-bs player who just wants to play the campaign. The campaign itself is full ofAbsolute garbage made by greedy bastards. I have to wait hours to install something that I won't even play (multiplayer, zombies, and other crap). Then I have to have internet connection, playstation plus, stupid amount of storage, and download campaign separately to play this game.     Zombies Still has some of the worst "A.I" iv ever seen. I think iv broken it in every way possible. The dogs become **** if you thrash them too much, they go into survival mode were they wont spawn around you and if they do they run for the nearest other player or to a safe spot to hide.(one ran from the bottom of the pack-a-punch area all the way to the bedroom and just sat there hidingZombies Still has some of the worst "A.I" iv ever seen. In addition, why do you let me choose my name and character attributes if I have no voice? Too cheap for voice actors? Don't give me options then. Who cares what I look like? Can't see me. The grenade indicator doesn't show up half the time and then suddenly I'm blown up. No explanation for my deaths. My campaign teammates constantly run out in front of me while shooting or run right out where I've pitched a grenade, and then I'm penalized back to the start of the section for friendly fire. Clearly the AI was made my interns. May just be me but the bullets don't seem particularly accurate. Definitely cheaped out on the collectibles and the whole game feels rushed and cheap. I only paid $40 for cross gen edition and I feel like that was a rip off. I am not even sure I'll even finish the game. Wish I had bought a disc version so I could sell it today.… Expand

    Probably the most hated call of duty but in my opinion its not that bad, its very refreshing from the old modern warfare to a newer more fast-paced call of duty set in a different era, the campaign and zombies is very fun, the multiplayer is mostly good.
    Definetly not the best Call of duty however if your a fan of cod or looking for a more fast-paced shooter then this game is great!

    The Zombie Mode is great! Haven't played the story but no one cares about it anyways. Now to the multiplayer. Checkmate, Express, Satellite, Apocalypse, Zoo, Echelon, Rush, WMD and Garrison are also played like this by most of the players. The only maps i constantly had fun on are Cartel, Miami, Moscow, Raid, Diesel, Hijacked and Deprogramm. But when everyone would play on them like they were meant to almost every map would be a banger, so it's mostly the players' fault. So if you want to waste money and have fun for one week then i would recommend it. Otherwise just buy BO 4 it's better in almost every aspect.… Expand

    What a load of garbage and downdate compares to ModernWarfare. The campaign is not enjoyable, the graphics look like a 2015 game. Multiplayer is not fun neither.

    Game just doesn’t feel smooth at all and very clunky multiplayer. The maps are bad as well. The only thing saving this game is the zombies mode but even that doesn't bring me back to this game ever.

    Just... downloads! The campaign takes as long to download as it takes to finish. Even if you purchase the disc version you have tho download the campaign! In three parts. There different down load for textures. Separate downloads for multi-player, splitscreen, and more to play zombies. Utter crap!

Its a pretty good one but the important part is the multiplayer. Skill Based matchmaking is gonna destroy your gaming experience, you still get trash items for free and you have to oay for decent items like kill animations operatir or cool sruff like weapon variants. The new weapons can be unlocked by challenges but the challenges take wayyyy more time. Its basically like a bad mobile game, with the diffeemce that its developed by Activison and made by a Tripple A studio. I never played Zombie Mode so i cant tell something about it. The time to kill someone is Ridicialouse. You cant kill someone when hes pre aiming because he gets you faster than you can react. Its a game for noobs.     Where do I even begin. Let's start with why even release this game the mess that it is. Modern Warfare is so much better do not waste your money on this game. It's a buggy mess that has more glitches than a Bethesda game. On top of that there are so many little exploitable things everyone uses so you die as you spawn sometimes. It's camper paradise and it's awful. Don't buy it!

    Bought modern warfare and this one at the same time. Finished modern warfare first and then started this one. This one is ok, but the mechanics are not as fun, the campaign is pretty bland so far. Feels less real, and more arcadey, in modern warfare I really felt I was there clearing room by room. I'm just not feeling this one

    This game is hella bad... Old engine, scorestreaks are all **** up beyond belief, it looks horrid. The servers are really bad and hitreg doesn't work half the time. Gave it a few months to pick it back up and see if they fixed anything, only to find they broke more. The game is poop.

Die Kampagne habe ich nur bis zur Hälfte gespielt, da auch nur eine Mission gut war, die man aber auch schon in der großen Ps5-Präsentation von Sony gesehen hat. Der Rest war nach der üblichen Call of Duty-Formel. In der einen Mission kommen ganz viele Gegner, in der nächsten eine Schleicheinlage und dannEines der schlechtesten Spiele die ich je gespielt habe. Ich rate jedem vom Kauf ab. Die Kampagne habe ich nur bis zur Hälfte gespielt, da auch nur eine Mission gut war, die man aber auch schon in der großen Ps5-Präsentation von Sony gesehen hat. Der Rest war nach der üblichen Call of Duty-Formel. In der einen Mission kommen ganz viele Gegner, in der nächsten eine Schleicheinlage und dann noch eine Snipermission und so weiter. Der Multiplayer ist der absolute Horror. Neben skillbased Matchmaking, hat man auch noch in fast jeder Runde 2 Camper, die einen mit Sniper oder Waffen mit Thermalvisier in den Wahnsinn treiben. Nachdem ich mich entschieden habe den Multiplayer nicht mehr zu spielen, habe ich nur noch den Zombiemodus gespielt, wegen dem ich das Spiel auch gekauft habe. Leider ist dieser auch eine absolute Katastrophe. Spielt man mit zufälligen Leuten, hat man in der Regel eine Person die afk ist, da Activision das super System erfunden hat, dass man Upgradekristalle bekommt, wenn man hohe Runden erreicht, deswegen lassen alle ihre Konsole einfach in der Spielersuche laufen. Dazu kommt, dass der Zombiemodus nicht mehr so ist wie er es in den ersten Black Ops-Teilen war. Das schlimmste aber ist, dass bei mir jeden Tag neue Bugs aufgetreten sind. Cyberpunk war nichts dagegen. Und während sich CD Project Red dafür entschuldigt hat und stark daran gearbeitet hat die Bugs zu fixen, werden sie hier einfach totgeschwiegen. Bugs die von Anfang an verfügbar waren, sind ein halbes Jahr später immer noch nicht gepatched, denn Activision interessiert sich nicht für die Zufriedenheit der Spieler sondern nur für ihre Gewinne. Ich habe auch gehört, dass sie Sachen bei denen sie Geld verlieren, weil man einen Skin oder ähnliches durch einen Bug gratis bekommen kann sofort patchen. Als Fazit kann ich sagen, dass ich den Kauf extrem bereue und ich jeden von diesem Spiel abraten würde. Das letzte Call of Duty das ich gekauft habe.… Expand

    The Bad:
    -Skill based matchmaking ruins this game. Games go from fun enjoyable times to boring slogs or complete sweaty matches where you have to try really hard. It flip flops constantly and can leave a person feeling mixed, or just tired of playing really quickly.

    -The Multiplayer maps are mostly all bad. Raid, Express, and Nuketown are fine, but every other map is either too big, confusing, or gives me eye strain. The maps when looking at them from a distance mesh weirdly, and as a result you'll have issues finding people which will eventually lead to you being shot by someone you couldn't see(this happens a lot).

    -It takes a long time to find zombie games, and even when you do they usually don't last long whether its because of a ragequit, people not working together, or the next issue im bringing up:

    -Connection issues. Yep this game still has them. I've been disconnected from games multiple times, even a SOLO GAME. My internet is working perfectly fine, so its confusing that call of duty after many years of release still fails to improve upon its connect, and suffer from host migrations as well.

    -The game asks for a lot in many different areas. It's 190 gb big, which is absurd even by triple A standards, its 10 dollars more than the industry standard(70 dollars), and it asks you to buy a battle bass to get tier rewards. Everything feels incredibly grindy and it just isn't fun.

    The Ugly:
    -The game runs incredibly choppy at times, even on a PS5(Which is supposed to be the big next gen console), prepare for random frame drops, they'll show up eventually.

    -CoD Points.

    -Prop Hunt is worse now, it seems more heavily favored for the hunters, as the movement as a prop can be sluggish.

    -While zombies is fine, it still feels relatively weak and not as charming or as fun or adrenaline pumping as previous zombie modes, but it is better than CoD WW2's zombies, 100%.

    -Familiar characters such as Woods and Mason in the campaign have different voice actors that don't really sell it for me, and Wood's dialogue infamously said some stupid thing about an Onion.

It is unfinished and STILL suffers from the same issues COD has always suffered with.     There are too many bugs in the game, this is 4 months after release. The campaign is generally alright, but the multiplayer and zombies mode, especially on PS5 is have too many problems. The game will crash very often, resetting all of your rounds in zombies, I have not experienced crashes in multiplayer. The game almost made my ears bleed when in crashed.

    Call of duty campaigns have become notoriously linear and with that, notoriously repetitive, and whilst they cannot be compared to massive open world games, the lack of progress in moving away from the linear storyline has really started to frustrate me over the last few years. The campaign was a good mix of everything you'd come to expect with a Call of Duty game - Lots of shooting, lots of blowing up and slow motion carnage.

    On the negative side for the campaign, upon progression to the final mission I am literally on the edge of my seat with excitement. I'm pausing the game and telling my partner (who isn't a gamer) in excrutiating detail what's just happened and why it's so awesome. At the time, I'm considering it one of the top Call of Duty campaigns and I'm ready to see what happens next. I press "X" in eager anticipation........ and the credits roll.

    For those who have experienced this ending, they'll understand that the game ends just as we've got to the most exciting part. It feels unfinished, but at the same time doesn't end on any type of cliffhanger... The game was oustanding, but I was just left a bit unfulfilled. Hard to explain.

    Zombies for me is a no-go. I'm a 30 year old guy who doesn't have a massive amount of time on his hands, I want to go into a game that'll last 30 to an hour at a time. My mates have spent entire nights on Zombies. May be for some people, but definitely not for me, but I realise that this is down to circumstances so haven't actually included this in my review.

    Now for the (extremely) bad. Multiplayer is nothing short of a mess. Modern Warfare was extremely slow, but they've literally gone from the slowest call of duty, to one of the fastest I can remember. The only saving grace is that they've not included the verticality of the previous exo-suit versions, meaning that you know everyone is going to be 'ground-level'.

    However, the speed in which players move is just outrageous and the main reason I'm writing this review. You barely get a chance to see anyone and they've sprinted rings around you and wiped you out. Again, I realise I may be getting old and maybe the reactions might not be where they used to, but it's really not what I expect from a modern day CoD game.

    Time to kill is increased, making the above issue even worse. Add both of these factors to cross-play, and what you have is an extensive advantage for PC players who with the much quicker movement, give me no chance in being able to track them and get a shot off, never mind actually kill them.

    There have been a number of occassions where I have been shot by someone directly infront of me, and I mean literally standing in front of me (as shown by the kill cam). However I don't even get a chance to see them. Having recorded my gameplay, on several of these occassions the player hasn't even shown on my screen. As other players have said, what a horrendous buggy mess.

    The gameplay of multiplayer is the type of level that will prevent me buying a CoD game in the future. The bugs are pretty outrageous for a AAA title, however I can appreciate with Covid some of these will have slipped through the net in the way that we all have to work from home, developers will be no different.

    Essentially, Cold War is essentially half a capaign and a weapon expansion pack for Warzone to me. The one star is for how good the campaign was, but the rest is a total mess.    … Expand

    This is the worst nightmare for a real CoD fan. Played every game in the saga (not portable spinoffs) since original CoD on my Pentium III. This isn't nightmarish as a product itself. It is after the release of Modern Warfare. It was like Activision telling the fanbase "hey, let's go back 5 or 6 years boys". And that's enough for me. 1/10

    Gave it a 3 for the single player part. I was wrong it's a gracious zero. Just had a mission following four cars in a helicopter. When stopping the cars two exploded, and the other two seem to have been kind of clown cars where over 100 people got out and started shooting.     How the mighty have fallen - Cold war takes a step back in every conceivable way (the campaign being decent is it's saving grace). The multiplayer feels like it was a port from a game made 10 years ago and skill-based matchmaking seems to be intensified.     I like call of duty cold war alot. You can choose your character from the game. The game gives you a male and female characters for both teams. I would want to see some more character customization in the future. Besides that the game is very enjoyable.

I see some people say you have to install the campaign in 3 parts and get them from the Playstation store. 1. Why on earth would i have to do thati own the disc? 2. There is nothing on the store apart from content they want you to pay for. And none of it says its anything to do with the campaign, its all to do with multiplayer. And i've already paid £70 for the disc it should come with the full campaign on it, i'm not paying for anything else. Then i read someone else say i need to unistall and reinstall something called a battle net!! What on earth is a battle net when its at home!? So i'm left with a broken game that i paid £70 and waited 2 days to install only so i couldn't play it. Whatever happened to the days you just whacked a disc in and off you went?     The worst part of this game is it’s multiplayer, broken at launch for PC, crashed and even bricked a few new gen consoles, bad servers. The guns and the TTK (time to kill). All the guns seem well balanced on the MP side (Not Warzone as of now) of Cold War with a few exceptions of tactical rifles, it seems these tactical rifles are always broken at launch the same with BO4s. The TTK is absolutely abysmal. Constant kill trading kill and die, kill and die, barely able to hit constant feeds. Scorestreaks only seem to be the biggest feed worthy use. Scorestreak system is absolutely spoon feeding the bad children and slow dads who can get their streaks when they don’t deserve it. None are great most are bad. Of course perks are broken, Flak Jacket is the only first perk ran because you’ll never die to explosions if you have it on. Others are there but nothing astonishing, wildcards are ass period and busted, perk greed gives you the ability to run 6 perks with no repercussions whatsoever, OP. Horrible spawns on map, launched with only 6 6v6 maps and 2 12v12 maps and they’re all pretty cheese. God awful leveling system and weapon leveling as well as camo grinding. Slow and methodical boring and un-awarding attachments barely help you in all honesty, you could do just the same with no attachments. SBMM we already know how bad that is, not for COD public matches leave that in ranked (Which doesn’t exist as of now). The new bundles they’ve released with cosmetics have more flavor and character than the whole MP mode combined (I can see where the priorities are) loads of other stuff just not even worth listing, would be nitpicking at that point. Warzone

    Just ruined my the integration from MW to Cold War. Bust Cold War meta weapons, bad UIX, garbage leveling. Still playable and obviously Activision money whale with all the F2P payers buying bundles.

    Zombies

    Probably the only redeeming quality of this game, ditching all that over complicated bullsh*t we’ve seen in the past couple of BO titles. Very good for casuals to enjoy, great lore and story so far for the hardcore fans. Quite sad to see no additional content drop for season 1 other than some sorry ass Christmas mode that’s over all just a paint over with some small tweaks. This is what most people enjoy about CW and they’re already put the zombies underwater with the lack of care.

    This review isn’t obviously the best but these are just my gripes with the game. Some find positives in the game where I can’t just see it. Obviously others have their own opinion but I just see a huge step backwards this year in comparison to last. C19 didn’t help either but there were developer woes way before this pandemic, Sledgehammer lost the show and it was given to Raven and Treyarch because it’s sledgehammer and we all know how they are.     Game is broken ! Lot of bugs ! The theme is good but so few modes, maps and guns make the Multiplayer repetitive , don´t waste your time with this crap , feels like a plastic downgrade compared with COD MW ! Also SBMM ruins the matches ! !

The zombies is complex and enjoyable and the campaign (although short) was one of the best ones I have played! The movement and gunplay within multiplayer are competent and genuinely feel good! Despite the opening statement this game doesn’t do everything wrong but the issues listed above make the game legitimately painful to play. I have been playing this franchise since the original modern warfare and to see the steady decline of this franchise is heartbreaking. Black ops Cold War is COD at its lowest point. It’s criminal that activision and treyarch expect people to pay 60-70$ for a game that seems like it’s still in beta. If you are a casual player that average to above average at call of duty, a person that can use their thumbs, or a person that would like a casual call of duty experience, I urge you to not buy this game. I can almost guarantee that within 2-3 hours you WILL NOT BE HAVING FUN solely due to the skill based matchmaking. Sometimes when i spawn in i just get killed 10 times and live for about 2 seconds in total.     Ok game. But it Crashes alot and my ps5 crashed total. So it had to reboot data. Fix it asap

    Splitt screen dont work. 5 fps sometimes. My rounds ends with ce error.

    I can start the Story Mode again from begin...because my save data just missing. Too bad cant give -5 Points. Shame on this game

I remember when you could play this game without have to really try and the majority of the time I would do good (around 2.0KD), but now since activison wants everyone to lose some weight they make me have to sweat for like three weeks straight as soon as I do ok in this game (get 350+ SPM and 1.5+ KD). Itsall I got to say is **** SBMM and the optimization for PC and some of the consoles. I mean just look at the beta..., but anyways I guess the game has room to improve but for now I can't play it, just gonna play cyberpunk and wait for RAID to come out.… Expand

    MP is a huge step back from previous Black Ops games. All design choices favour campers and headglitchers... In the past it was easy to punish these types of players but this new game punishes rushing and quick game play... The maps are designed for you to hide and wait, footsteps are way too loud, the screens shake too much when you run and the sprint out time is ridiculously alow

    Thankfully, a few of the early bugs were ironed out of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and subsequent season passes have patched up modes and maps that were lacking. The campaign is genuinely intriguing but may not appeal to those who just want to run and gun. Zombies and Multiplayer modes are plentiful and there should be something for everyone to thoroughly enjoy. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War should be used as the poster child for PlayStation 5's DualSense controller which has been put to full use for an immersive experience. Casual players will be somewhat put off by the sheer storage space required to fully experience everything that is on offer, especially given that SSD capacity is this generation's gold dust, but Call of Duty die-hards will most likely overlook this.

    I have no doubt that the latest Call of Duty will earn ridiculous amounts of money once again, but I will remember it as a dip in form, a game that’s closer to mediocrity than greatness. The story campaign has a satisfying finale but as a whole is rather uninspired, while the multiplayer has lost the tactical feel I enjoyed in Modern Warfare Remastered. [01/2021, p.56]

    Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the video game equivalent to that one kid in class with a sugar rush and an addiction to pixie sticks. Sure, it might be entertaining for a little while, but the more time you spend with it, the more you realize it’s just rambling on aimlessly. Ultimately, with its lack of a clear vision and focus on what makes a game fun, Cold War isn’t going to entertain you for long.
