Like a good diorama, Button City has a lot of fine detail. Sure the story is breezy and the characters are charming, but what about the games? What about the simple, engaging level design? I wish the sidequests were less about long walks, yes. I want a run button so very badly, it’s true. And the games could actually be harder. But I still want to visit this weird little town. I want to keep coming back to this arcade, I want to get sick of the only good games, I want to save up for the only good prizes. Whether you remember places like this or not, Button City is a delightful escape to the lost world of arcades. Heck, if you’ve got one in your town, this might convince you to start going again.

Button City is a child-friendly adventure that pushes the right buttons with its combo of a sweet narrative and fun gameplay.

Despite these bugs, Button City is a relaxing little game with a great storyline and characters you care about despite their faults. Players can work their way through the game at their own pace as they battle to save the arcade from greed, and Fennel from his own shy and unconfident self. The story isn’t lengthy, clocking in at 6-8 hours depending on how much time you spend playing arcade games and completing side missions, but it’s a nice little distraction for a rainy day.

    Cute, but that’s about it
Button city is a super colorful cute game where you play as an adorable fox, going around this little town, initially just making friends, joining their squad to take down the other teams at the arcade in this team based game where you collect fruit, and throw it in a blender in the middle, stop your opponents and grab as much as you can before time runs out, you can even complete tasks and buy more of these characters, but eventually youll be coming up with a plan to save the arcade with the rest of the kids in town, this is a very fetch questy game, you need to go to this part of town and get this item, so oyu simply pull out of the map, scroll up or down to where you need to go, and instantly youre there.. I love this aspect, stopping what would normally feel like annoying backtracking.. however ater a couple of hours, the charm just weas off, cute doesn’t cut it anymore, the lack of any substance within this world really tugs on you, and it just brought down my overall initial joy, getting through button city started to feel like a chore rather than a charming nostalgic weekend it initially was…
That being said, this is still cute game where there are plenty who wil get enjoyment out of what is basically just a quick and cute adventure game.. but for me, once the chore feeling kicked in, the game never pulled me back.
    I give Button City
    a 6/10
