Jul 29, 2024As Bō progresses their actions and attacks become a bit more effective, and when that initial roughness is left behind, the worlds that players encounter afterwards are so beautiful that any early game hiccups are forgotten. Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is exceptional. With its visually stunning worlds and exciting battles, Bō has all the elements of an indie action classic.

Jul 18, 2024As long as you don't expect anything genre-defining, Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus is a breathtaking Metroidvania experience. The art style is gorgeous, the action-platforming is fast and satisfying, and the sweet modesty of its tale is though-provoking and gentle. Path of the Teal Lotus is a little heavy with the tutorials at the beginning, boss battles later on get frustrating, and it doesn't do anything remarkably new, but fans of Hollow Knight will find this a gratifying curio that's well worth diving into, even if the pool here is a little bit shallow.

Jul 15, 2024Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus is stunning, atmospheric, fun and challenging. Although not much original, it's a great metroidvania which uses the right inspirations to paint a Japanese fable of such contemplative beauty and rewarding agility like few others before it could achieve.

Jul 23, 2024Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is a visual treat for fans of the Metroidvania genre. Though it may have a few rough edges, it definitely provides a challenging yet fun experience.

Jul 15, 2024Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is a remarkable achievement. Not only is the overall presentation truly stunning with its authentic, watercolor design, but the platform-focused gameplay and thoughtful combat system establish the game as an essential title in the Metroidvania genre. With its responsive controls and challenging boss battles, the game offers an immersive and rewarding experience that will keep players engaged from start to finish.

Aug 8, 2024In a crowded genre, Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus, stands out with its wonderful hand-drawn visuals and rewarding platforming focused gameplay. The demanding difficulty won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but for those after a challenge, it's well worth seeking out.
-
Jul 25, 2024Metroidvanias with clever movement skills are some of my favourite in the genre and Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus is certainly top-tier.
-
Jul 30, 2024A metroidvania with its fair share of inspiration, albeit too tied to the need to remain in mid-air most of the time.
-
Jul 23, 2024While the game at times demands a level of execution that its design doesn’t always facilitate, its frustrations dent but don’t fully crack its wondrous sense of atmosphere.
-
Sep 16, 2024There are those who will enjoy Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus, no doubt; those who revel in a challenge and who have the dexterity to overcome its airborne antics without breaking a sweat. On the whole, though, there’s nothing all that original or exciting here, and many of the obstacles put in your path simply frustrate rather than provide an enjoyable hurdle to get the better of.

Jul 18, 2024Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is a gorgeous game, featuring an incredible art style and sound design that strengthen an already colorful world that I want to explore. But getting around in the game is regularly a chore, and Bō's floaty, dance-like movements too often lead to frustrating deaths during platforming gauntlets. The game at least shines through its combat, and the story is exciting once it does actually get going--but there's just too much in the way to fully enjoy what the game does well.
