Yeah, I respect the Hades games and massively respect Supergiant Games, and have nothing but respect for all of the work the Balatro devs put into it, let alone the masterpiece that was Blue Prince, but they’re generally not really my cup of tea. I didn’t even like Balatro that much, but considering I’m not super into poker as is, I was not sure what I was expecting there. It might be the specifics here, the action, twitchiness, being able to play as these characters again outside of the original games or BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, or just something I can’t quite place my finger on. I genuinely quite enjoyed my time here, and hope the best for future updates. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m just gonna go find a rock to skip across these waters before I take another dip.

BlazBlue: Entropy Effect X is a superb side-scrolling action game. The sheer amount of content on offer is enticing enough, but the animations and combat feedback are on-point throughout.

Even though I'm not familiar with the story or history of BlazBlue I had a very fun time with Entropy Effect X. It is genuinely fun to play, offering a loop of combat that is as challenging as it is visually stunning. The large Roster of very different characters and the interplay of the Legacy system make every run feel like a new experiment in breaking the game's limits. And the Entropy system unlocked upon winning a run lets you push the difficulty as hard as you can.

A jubilant genre experiment that captures BlazBlue's essence while embracing roguelike design, BlazBlue Entropy Effect X is only held back only a few mechanical issues. You’d be hard pressed to find a better genre-jumper.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect X is an excellent roguelike adventure that faithfully translates the tactical, frenetic combat of the main series into an immersive side-scrolling experience. Each character feels distinct, with unique abilities that encourage experimentation with the game’s multi-layered systems, resulting in builds that differ from run to run. While the complex narrative doesn’t fully land and some systems aren’t clearly explained, the moment-to-moment action is superb and will quickly get its hooks in you.

Challenging yet addictive, generous yet confusing, Blazblue Entropy Effect X is an original offering that manages to surprise us and draw us into a sea of possibilities for hours on end. In my opinion, it's the indie surprise of the moment.

Fresh challenge systems and a slick new story make 91Act's rogue-lite that much more compelling, even if some aspects could be better.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect X is one of those “pure gameplay” roller coasters that offer you tons of value just in terms of how awesome it feels to press buttons and really dive into what you can do. If you like BlazBlue already, great! Pick your favorite (hopefully they’re here) and dive until you want to throw up from the excess. If you aren’t into BlazBlue, it doesn’t matter - if you just like dope combat systems in 2D action games, that’s what’s on the table here and in heaping piles. Even the roguelikey build-crafting stuff takes a backseat in terms of relevance once you get your first few upgrades. It’s really just all about Ragna the Bloodedge fighting ninjas with his demonic blood powers. And that’s plenty.

The updated release builds on the foundation of BlazBlue Entropy Effect and brings new features that will keep players playing after the original storyline. Although cross-play and an English dub are missing, BlazBlue Entropy Effect X is an experience that fans won't want to miss.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect X is a highly addictive action-roguelike with slick, responsive combat and plenty of playstyle variety, boosted by a smart skill-inheritance system. While the visual overload and forgettable techno-babble story can distract at times, the rock-solid gameplay is the real star: and it absolutely delivers.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect X has been one of the few games that I have had a very hard time putting down strictly due to how much fun I was having playing it.
