I've put 37 hours solid into the game so far on PS5.

So, the "pros" of BabylonsFall really quick:

    >Cool looking, if not weird armor

    >Cool, but limited weapons

    >The Combat-It's surprisingly nuanced. I didn't pick up on it, when I first started playing, but, after spending a decent amount of time helping other's through the level's, I slowly picked up on different move sets. It is fairly responsive as long as you're internet connection is good.

    >The team (read 1 person at platinum games, I'm joking) did a really good job on the Co-op aspect, as in, even if you're REALLY high level compared to someone else, you can still team up & help.

    >Has 2 cool cutscenes in the game. One when you make it to the end boss of the "Volcanic Cloister" area. The other is when you make it to the "Pantheon Garden" area...

    >Cool music score

    >FULLY customizable controller buttons, so you can set things up the way you want. I loved this! It was one little shinning gem in this game.

    >You get 5 revives & five health potions at the start of every mission, you don't have to craft or buy for every "mission" you go on. That was a nice touch.

    "Con's" really quick:

    >Lets get the first one out of the way. GRAPHICS.. I don't know what happened, between the original trailers for this game & what we got, but "PlatinumGames" must have just had one poor soul doing EVERYTHING, from programming to textures. B/c this game looks like it was created with a potato. Let's just be honest, the original Demons Souls, looks better aesthetically. It came out in 2009. I know it's a different company. But FromSoftware's president has been quoted as "We don't try to focus on graphics".

    >Crafting System-Is clunky, frustratingly time locked & they introduce it WAY too late in the game's story.

    >Level design is creative & bland at the same time... I don't know how to put it, other than that?

    >The art direction of the world, is inconsistent, I think it would work better if it had more contrast.. it's personal taste, but I don't like how they've made the environments "wishy washy" in artsy looks.

    >For such a "Creative" concept, as far as the world goes, the level design sucks as far as "exploration". it's basically non existent. Since that seems to be what the game revolves around, exploration & combat. There's just not a whole lot of variety to the missions.. it's same thing over and over & it doesn't even look pretty while your tackling the missions?

    >You don't have a count down timer on when missions start, so you have to either time it on your smart phone or stop watch, you've got roughly a minute before you can cancel the mission, as long as no one else has hit the "ready option"...

    >The system for "drops" from items to weapons, is lack luster & not frequent enough.. it literally took me 8 sold hours of playing, just so I could get enough of 1 crafting item, so I could get my power level higher, since I couldn't get any much needed armor or weapons to boost my power level during regular missions, which in turn, is what basically dictates whether you can tackle a mission or not. You've got SOME wiggle room as a player, where skill & strategy will play in, but the enemies are not that forgiving. Especially around power level 49.. it gets rough.

    >You cannot change weapon types during a mission. If you have a fire type weapon & you got summoned to help out in a fire type environment. Welp, your SOL.

    >The slow "photo frame" story telling method they have, that you can't skip, b/c they don't make it OBVIOUS how to skip the scenes if you've already watched them. (It's the start button by the way)

    >The "gotcha mechanics" basically you can buy in game currency to buy stuff. Stuff takes way too long to drop. This is how they get you. This is the money milking scheme behind the game I guess? time gate stuff, but you can BUY IT NOW, even though you already spent 60 bucks on the game?

    >Pain in the butt account creation to play the game. Horrendous experience with SquareEnix website/server issues. Pretty good customer service though. But still it sucked having to deal with that, just to play a game that end up being what it is...

TL:DR I don't feel like, the game is worth 60usd out the door. It's more of a 30 dollar or 40 dollar game. From the looks, to what you currently get with the UI & experience you walk away with. Which is a "live service game" basically?

The game is a gem in the rough. But its REALLY ROUGH. Like, you need a team, to really polish this. I think it could easily be saved b/c all the basics are there. Its just their are so many games, besides the coop aspect, that does it so much better. Destiny 2, Nioh2, Diablo 2 resurrected, etc

They done have my money, so not much I can do? will the team behind this game actually polish it to a shine? I'm not super hopeful about that.

What you currently have, is a "so so experience."

Our expectations for Babylon's fall were sky high. A collaboration between legendary publisher Square Enix and developer PlatinumGames, a few years ago responsible for the masterful 'NieR: automata', that could only produce fireworks, right? Unfortunately, fireworks that end with a whimper.

Babylon's Fall is a game that impresses by the fact that nothing in it works as it should. It's a boring title and marked by a series of problems. It ends up standing out as one of the worst games in a year full of great releases.

In its current state after a few updates, Babylon’s Fall is worth trying through the demo before you should consider picking it up on a discount. Until the team can overhaul the progression system to ensure most things aren't unlocked after a dozen hours of playing, Babylon's Fall likely will continue to lose players early on. There is definitely potential here and a lot of the bosses and areas are worth experiencing, but it is hard to recommend at even half price right now unless you click with the combat in the demo and want to see more.
