    If you want a good game from Platinum Games just pick up something like Nier Automata, Astral Chain, Bayonetta 1+2 or (probably) Bayonetta 3 later this year.
    Don't waste your money on this game

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. sadly i didn’t look into this before buying it, was basing my desire on the early trailers, i didn’t think it would change so much . and i’ve usually been a fan of any square game, even the weird ones like “the bouncer”. but in todays gaming world, this feels worse than a mobile game. it’s like a budget title on the vita. the whole thing just feels so disconnected. and they used assets from other games making it even lazier. booting it up for the first time and seeing the graphics was jarring. i had to double check that i was playing on PS5. and then getting past the non engaging tutorials and bare bones story, you find out the game is a cash grab. everything that could go wrong, went way farther wrong than expected. the game uses basically the exact same battle scheme as nier, even the dodge sound. this game was a waste of time. at least it gave people some jobs i guess. now i’m hoping the other square games i pre ordered aren’t pieces of **** i liked the stranger of paradise demo, seems like that one will be fun. but now i don’t know about forspoken. just have to wait and see. in a way this is a blessing because it means more time for elden ring play lmao.

    if i could get a refund, i would. didn’t think i’d ever have to rely on a demo for a square game. this is so much worse than ff14 1.0, at least that was free    … Expand

    I thought I really could get into this game but sadly I can’t and I love arcadish games like this reminded me of my Dreamcast days but no wait to see if it a go to ps now or plus buy if u want to but at ur own risk

    This game pushes micro-transactions like it were a free to play game.

    Babylon Fall es una obra que se puede volver una gema, cuya primera impresión ya no puede cambiar. Cuenta con un buen sistema de combate y una historia que logra enganchar de a poco en sus misiones principales.

    Visualmente no se siente que le hayan puesto cariño a una premisa que da para más, con los cambios adecuados. Las propuestas de juego como servicio no son malas en sí, hay    Babylon Fall es una obra que se puede volver una gema, cuya primera impresión ya no puede cambiar.     Visualmente no se siente que le hayan puesto cariño a una premisa que da para más, con los cambios adecuados. Las propuestas de juego como servicio no son malas en sí, hay títulos que han triunfado con esa fórmula. Es una lástima que hayan preferido mermar su base jugable con microtransacciones que reflejan la idea de pagar para ganar. A pesar de sus problemas, es disfrutable y quizás con el tiempo puedan tener una redención como No Man Sky.

    Babylon's Fall is a dull, live-service action game that's bad even by dull, live-service standards -- it almost makes junk like Avengers, Anthem, and Godfall look acceptable. With uninspired combat, repetitive levels, and an utterly hideous visual design, Square Enix should be embarrassed for charging people 60 dollars for this glorified free-to-play dreck.

    Haven't played it and will never support games with awful battle passes, microtransactions and generic looking combat mixed in with a boring looking story and bad looking visuals. **** live service games like this. This game deserved to flopped. Play Elden Ring instead.

    What was conceptualised here, was a game made around the idea of GaaS first, game second to keep that money printer going and from a soul-less idea, we get something that feels, plays terribly.
    They learned nothing from Outriders. If you want your GaaS to be profitable, you've got to give me a reason to buy your microtransactions.

    Within the first 30 minutes, the game is throwing it's battle pass in your face... This has a 60 dollar box price.
    When your release week (in early access) is the same week as *Elden-Ring*, why would you release something so sub-mediocre and ask for ten dollars more? I don't know if it's audacity, confidence or incompetence.

    To break things down deeper:

    The Combat.
    The combat is dry, boring and uninspired, it doesn't even look flashy or cool because there's just fast jittery animations blocked by particle noise.

    The 3 weapon system is a confusing addon because it's not particularly clever or fun, it's just annoying and each weapon lacks identity, simply put, you have different ways of doing damage and that's it. The hammer does not feel heavy or brutish like a hammer should, the swords feels flimsy and soft, like waving aluminium around and I swear the bow literally goes 'pew-pew'. The enemies do not stagger or respond to hits and every sound effect sounds like it was from an asset pack, nothing amazing with that design. I think Platinum probably had some scrapped or b-game combat systems (Transformers, TMNT, TLoK) and just slapped it in here.

    I'll be polite and say it tracks well and there's no sluggishness, aside from being unable to dodge out of mid combo attacks, but other than that, it does the bare mimimum to be a combat system.
    Platinum games has had years to develop combat ideas why is it so basic when there was so much room for more? Saving it for the next project?

    They try nothing and it shows.

    The Graphics (and style).
    SE has gone for a 'watercolour painting' style filter over the entire game and it looks terrible and makes very little sense in the games aesthetic.
    In fact, I think it was a design choice to try and smudge and hide the low-poly models and low-res textures. The environments seem nice, blurred mind you, but the human models and armour look awful.

    Unlike Okami, No More Heroes, This War of Mine and many other games with a stylised low-fidelity aesthetic, thid game makes absolutely zero use of it anyway.
    And why would it? The game's aesthetic is some sort of medieval-aetherpunk-mechanical-futuristic mess- which is a shame because some of the later environments and designs look quite nice.

    Fantasy-technological or rather 'aetherpunk' settings lend themselves well to styles that can show off the vibrant colours and the acrobatics of enemies and main characters. Which is why they usually have basic 3d, anime or cartoony styles. Not a oil painting to smudge it all away. Disappointing.

    The Story.
    Terrible. It is the bare-minimum of story and it's presented in such lazy ways.
    The entire story is told to you in a bar "You will climb the tower and kill the sun". Told, not shown or demonstrated.

    The story is basically an isekai, from being a prisoner to having magic powers all of a sudden and a grand quest with no rhyme or reason or world setting. The story is to just get you *in* the game quick. A lazy backdrop in a mess of a painting.
    Minimal story presentation works when a game has other things going for it.

    The gameplay.

    Run down a corridor.
    Defeat trash mobs.
    Hit a boss with a basic melee combo, dodge their combo, repeat.
    Complete level. Get items.
    Repeat ad infinum. This is also endgame gearing.

    The bosses have no unique mechanics other than projectiles either in a rectangle or circle and varying speed - their designs are super cool though, but the mechanic designs left me wanting, nothing here was incredible or something I've never seen before. Dodging shapes.
    The gameplay loop is nothing fancy, nothing interesting and nothing lucrative. Music. Actually quite good. Kind of generic during downtimes but I think it'd compliment an epic boss given the opportunity. Final thoughts I wish SE would just abandon the Avengers, Outriders, GaaS trend chasing. Or is this the future of SE? I hope they're starting to realise they no longer can rest on their laurels and that the game space is financially rewarding those who innovate and trendset, not the ones sitting on the coat-tails of popular trends, fighting for scraps over long exhausted industry fads.    … Expand

    Shame on Platinum Games for abandoning their hardcore fanbase in favor of live service trash. Where is Metal Gear Rising 2? Vanquish 2? This studio has taken a depressingly disappointing turn.

    This game could have been amazing. The combat is awesome and a lot of fun. The story, setting and lore is also pretty interesting, exploring the Tower of Babylon would have been something I would have been really interested in.

    But the whole game is ruined by this forced online and game as a service stuff.     -The OST is actually quiet forgettable when compared to other Platinum games. To this day I still jam to MadWorld and NieR Automata and can point to several songs by name. Babylon's Fall OST is just "Generic"

    -Instead of paying 60$ for this disaster, go pay 40$ and get NieR:Automata. Its literally a better in every aspect.

    -I'm not even going to go into the horrible business model and live service **** and over priced microtransactions, (5$ for a pose, and 15$ for armor sets)

    Dont let this game sully your opinion of Platinum games. Check out the original reveal trailer, it looks awesome! Back then it looks like it was planned to actually be a good ol' single player action game with good combat. But Square Enix got the "Live Service" bug and clearly altered the project.    … Expand

This game was a lesson to me about not listening to the status quo when it comes to trying games out.     Let me start by saying, I love this game. I have over 35 hours into it and still coming back for more. I've beaten the main story and currently grinding out skirmishes and sieges to level up my gear (power level 95 currently).

    Let's start with the obvious and my agreement, this game is rough and a slog to get through in the first 4-5 hours. This isn't good when first impressions matter    Let me start by saying, I love this game. I have over 35 hours into it and still coming back for more. I've beaten the main story and currently grinding out skirmishes and sieges to level up my gear (power level 95 currently).

    Let's start with the obvious and my agreement, this game is rough and a slog to get through in the first 4-5 hours. This isn't good when first impressions matter and the demo on PlayStation limits you to basically the entire bad part of the game. Personally, my excitement and love for it came right after the demo. It really opens up and becomes more fun/rewarding after you finish the second cloister (or floor in other terms). The combat then picks up speed and allows you to combine with your other weapons to feel more satisfying. The game also sees you unlock new aspects of town and abilities all the way to the end of the story (another not good thing when you are trying to hook people to come back).

    As I stated above, my excitement grew fighting the third boss of the game. The boss fights from then on to the end were extremely fun to me. I also felt the story picked up at this point too. It still can be hit and miss, but nothing I felt put off by. I continue to log in daily to grind up and get ready for those more extreme fights like the recent duels update.

    Touching on the premium aspects, I don't think they are too over the top if you don't want to buy them. The prices are a bit excessive, but they don't impact weapons or your power level. They are strictly cosmetic based and to add a personal touch for yourself. So if that doesn't concern you, you can skip it. You can level up one level of the battle pass (which is free to everyone in season 1) by just doing the daily missions which can take under 45 minutes to complete. The weekly missions take a bit of extra time each day to complete, but not much longer.

    Platinum's biggest hurdle is getting over the negative thoughts already surrounding the game and making the early parts more fun/engaging. While I love this game and find parties to do my quests more often than not, this game will die quickly if they don't figure this out in updates. I look forward to the planned season 1 roadmap updates (more story, boss fights, Nier Automata collaboration), but I don't know how much love will get put into season 2 if the current sentiments remain.

    Took 2 points away because of the early portion slog and for the other issues I stated above.    … Expand

    Having played the demo and the released version quite extensively, the demo does a poor job selling the game. The gameplay opens up and is more varied in the final game. The boss fights are epic and the rousing soundtrack is a highlight too

    I don't know why nobody appreciate this Game. I think most of the people just played the demo. And unfortunately it is very limited, but believe me the full game has so much to offer.
    The graphics ? Ok due to the art experience it is not at everybody's choice but I appreciate the idea an love the art style Give the game a chance after some hours you will live it

    This game is epic. I love the PS3 style graphics. Really brings me back 20 years. Releasing this game alongside Elden Ring was a brilliant move.

    >Has 2 cool cutscenes in the game. One when you make it to the end boss of the "Volcanic Cloister" area. The other is when you make it to the "Pantheon Garden" area...

    >Cool music score

    >FULLY customizable controller buttons, so you can set things up the way you want. I loved this! It was one little shinning gem in this game.

    "Con's" really quick:

    >Lets get the first one out of the way. GRAPHICS.. I don't know what happened, between the original trailers for this game & what we got, but "PlatinumGames" must have just had one poor soul doing EVERYTHING, from programming to textures. B/c this game looks like it was created with a potato. Let's just be honest, the original Demons Souls, looks better aesthetically. It came out in 2009. I know it's a different company. But FromSoftware's president has been quoted as "We don't try to focus on graphics".

    >Crafting System-Is clunky, frustratingly time locked & they introduce it WAY too late in the game's story.

    >Level design is creative & bland at the same time... I don't know how to put it, other than that?

    >The art direction of the world, is inconsistent, I think it would work better if it had more contrast.. it's personal taste, but I don't like how they've made the environments "wishy washy" in artsy looks.

    >For such a "Creative" concept, as far as the world goes, the level design sucks as far as "exploration". it's basically non existent.     >You cannot change weapon types during a mission. If you have a fire type weapon & you got summoned to help out in a fire type environment. Welp, your SOL.

    >The slow "photo frame" story telling method they have, that you can't skip, b/c they don't make it OBVIOUS how to skip the scenes if you've already watched them. (It's the start button by the way)

    >The "gotcha mechanics" basically you can buy in game currency to buy stuff. Stuff takes way too long to drop. This is how they get you. This is the money milking scheme behind the game I guess? time gate stuff, but you can BUY IT NOW, even though you already spent 60 bucks on the game?

    >Pain in the butt account creation to play the game. Horrendous experience with SquareEnix website/server issues. Pretty good customer service though. But still it sucked having to deal with that, just to play a game that end up being what it is...

    TL:DR I don't feel like, the game is worth 60usd out the door. It's more of a 30 dollar or 40 dollar game. From the looks, to what you currently get with the UI & experience you walk away with. Which is a "live service game" basically?

    The game is a gem in the rough. But its REALLY ROUGH. Like, you need a team, to really polish this. I think it could easily be saved b/c all the basics are there. Its just their are so many games, besides the coop aspect, that does it so much better. Destiny 2, Nioh2, Diablo 2 resurrected, etc

    They done have my money, so not much I can do? will the team behind this game actually polish it to a shine? I'm not super hopeful about that.

    Graphics:1/10,it looks like a PS2 title , the gameplay is so stiff and wooden ,the voice acting is atrocious, the music is annoying, the class system is archaic and messy , how did this game get a seal of approval, the systems are super complicated too, like menu navigation is ugly , this definitely has to be one of the worst games of the past few years

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is in my opinion a game that keeps giving. At first the games fells simple and The story is the only thing that keept my intresset up. But after finished the main questline, and The 2nd main questline the games does a 180 and pours game technic after game technic at you. And The endgame grind has begun, the only negativ i can see here are The lack of people. But i quess people never gave the game a chanse. With a large community this game had been on my goty list for sure. For me it took about 80 hours to reach the endgame but i hade no rush but it can be done quicker.… Expand

I didn’t even have the beta /demo long enough to even get into combat. The opening cutscene and the graphical presentation was enough to never touch the game again.     I get that they wanted to make the game look like a painting, but when it literally makes the game look terrible, why would you keep it this way? The dialogue and graphics were too bad to even want to move forward. Skip it. 0/10    … Expand

    Babylon's Fail is a Masterclass on what not to do to make a good game. I have never seen so much micro-transactions and F2P mechanics on a fully priced game, it is a shame. Except the weird atmosphere and the beautiful soundtrack, everything else is trash. Even the NieR Automata event can't save it... Sad. I will now just forgot    One of the worst game I have played on PS5.

Un tiutlo que cuesta 70 pavos pero que esta brutalmente inclinado hacia las microtransacciones, tanto con la modena del juego o como con dinero real.     To start with signing in, you know your square enix account. I mean most of us have one (or if you have played FF14 you know you have at least 3 of them on different sites and different variations of the same account). You know Square Enix, Square Enix management, Mog station. You know they have more account choices than gods.

    I think for this game they mean the basic one, the square enix management. Do you know your username? i know if you log on in a browser you can use your email address but not, not for this game no. Gotta be the username. doesn't allow (for some reason) to put in your email address.

    You in? no. Of course not, You gotta bind it to your account 3 times. Wait you remember doing this before with FF14 and a few other games. Well of course you do, but unlike other companies don't expect anything to remember that with square enix.

    Did you rebind it 3 times, with the 3 screens hitting okay each time. Well you're not nearly anywhere near finished. Wait for it connecting, and...... wow some sort of store announcement type page. Hit cancel... you there, i swear you're almost playing (just kidding).

    Ahh you're at the 4 character screen, look at those graphics on show, yes this is the PS5 you're playing it on. Not a PS3. don't let those character models fool you. As a warning DO NOT stop doing something. If you go to the toilet now. That's it, it'll lose connection if you stop doing anything just for a second. You'll get an error code. Then you gotta start all over again.

    If it doesn't accept your password relogging in. Keep trying sometimes the square enix server just messes with you because it was built with string and silly putty.

    Have you chosen your sentinel yet? via the worst character creation screen you've ever seen since the PS2 era. You are almost there. I bet you can't wait to play. Yep. We're almost playing, cutscene time, no those aren't PS1 textures. See you're on deck, look at those.. uhh shadows. It's so high tech.

    Honest it's just an artistic way of this universe. They spent a lot of time with those cheers and that barrel you see... listen to that voice work. The squeaky guy in the armour. I mean ... wow.. i'm in tranced. I bet you wish you had stopped and just went back to the store now right.

    Look at the crowd cheer, see if you can spot the one whose arm doesn't connect to the shoulder. Sentinels sentinels. Welcome to Babylon.

    No. you can't skip the cutscene. i know you tried. but no, you gotta watch the whole thing. Isn't this the best. Yes you have weird glowing weapons around you, isn't it magical. Now be like sonic or mario collect those golden things along the pier.

    Prepare to dodge. you didn't dodge did you. Oh noes. Oh you did that time, oh look now you have a trophy, everyone will know you've played this now. You've gone too far.

    And no the game doesn't look any better. the gameplay doesn't evolve past this. and i bet you wish you never spent your money on it.

    Sony believe, that live service games like this and anthem are the future. As gamers, please... fight that idea for all it's worth or we're going to end up with games, exactly like this.

    This game was supposed to the beacon of revival for Platinum Games but it flopped massively, the gameplay & story is poorly managed, Bayonetta sets the standards for a wonderful genre while Babylons fall is just a comedy joke.

    Game and it's devs are crooks. Game hasn't been out for long and it's already being shut down including the servers so those who spent over hundreds of dollars won't be compensated at all. Anthem at its worst chose to keep servers up for the fans of that game to play. I will not be buying another platinum or square game going forward.

It is particularly bitter that the demo already shows everything that is in the final game - and that is shockingly little! In principle, Platinum Games ignores all aspects that make a good action RPG and prefers to orientate itself on the EA cucumber Anthem.

    The loot system is similarly messed up, because it always serves me the same stuff and thus prevents my character from having variable equipment. Every fight is the same, too, because it doesn't matter what my opponents look like or where I fight them - constant pounding always leads to success. This boredom would have been a little easier to endure in a team. But not even a clever matchmaking gets the title on the line. Even the interesting graphic approach was wasted with technology and design at the level of 2014.

    The stubbornness and lack of ideas with which this project was implemented is amazing and almost commands respect from me. After all, it takes a certain amount of courage to give up on anything that could in any way be fun to play. The planned publication of further content can give Platinum Games and Square Enix. This title needs an overhaul asap, in all areas. Otherwise, Babylon's Fall is a strong contender for flop of the year.    … Expand

    If you liked Godfall and the quirkiness of NieR then you are likely to enjoy your time with this game. It has issues, several of them namely graphically it’s not PS5, the story, cutscenes and voice acting is quite poor BUT at it’s core there is a satisfying gameplay loop during which you chase loot and make builds to take on higher level endgame content. Solo is doable but is more fun withIf you liked Godfall and the quirkiness of NieR then you are likely to enjoy your time with this game.     Our expectations for Babylon's fall were sky high. A collaboration between legendary publisher Square Enix and developer PlatinumGames, a few years ago responsible for the masterful 'NieR: automata', that could only produce fireworks, right? Unfortunately, fireworks that end with a whimper.

    In its current state after a few updates, Babylon’s Fall is worth trying through the demo before you should consider picking it up on a discount. Until the team can overhaul the progression system to ensure most things aren't unlocked after a dozen hours of playing, Babylon's Fall likely will continue to lose players early on. There is definitely potential here and a lot of the bosses and areas are worth experiencing, but it is hard to recommend at even half price right now unless you click with the combat in the demo and want to see more.
