-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a fantastic remake that adds meaningful changes and quality-of-life improvements that make an already stellar swashbuckling adventure an absolute must-have for PS5 owners.
-
Jul 8, 2026The Golden Age of Piracy may be over, but Black Flag Resynced seems intent on reminding us why it's one of the most romanticized time periods of the modern age.
-
Jul 8, 2026One of the best games in the franchise receives an impeccable treatment. With stunning visuals and technical brilliance, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced already stands as one of the best remakes ever made and a necessary modernization that we hope to see in more games in the future.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced is the definitive way to experience one of the greatest Assassin's Creed games ever made. With its stunning visual overhaul, meaningful accessibility features, and thoughtful story additions, it fully delivers on the fantasy of living life as a swashbuckling pirate. Even without the modern-day storyline that once raised the stakes, and despite the occasional bugs and glitches, Edward Kenway's unforgettable voyage across the Caribbean never feels rudderless. Resynced sets a new blueprint for the series while making the original pale by comparison, proving itself to be well worth its weight in gold.
-
Jul 8, 2026After all these years, Edward Kenway’s story is still the best virtual pirate experience out there, and this version only confirms that. A top-tier remake of a top-tier classic.
-
Jul 9, 2026Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynched is a rare remake in today’s age. It actually feels like the developers have sunk passion and time into the project and made this a worthy addition to the franchise. Sure, there are some missteps, with bugs and glitches and the uneven combat system, but, for the most part, this is a beautiful journey. It’s a wonderful story with new characters and content, stellar naval combat and exploration and some of the best visuals this year. Black Flag Resynched is what makes this franchise so beloved. It will always be, a pirate’s life for me.
-
Jul 8, 2026Even after 13 years, no game has managed to surpass Black Flag as the ultimate pirate simulator.
-
Jul 8, 2026In almost every way, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a better-looking and better-playing experience than the original. Melee and naval combat have received outstanding updates, and the newly minted open world is a joy to explore. Both the main and side missions provide excellent opportunities for exploration. The original game’s story and characters are among the best in the series and remain a solid foundation on which to build the world. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced strikes a near-perfect balance between preservation and improvement.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has become an excellent remake that justifies its right to exist within the first few minutes. The vast open setting of the Caribbean is wonderful to explore, and if you're strapped for cash this summer, Resynced is a great alternative to still go on vacation while diving up some treasures along the way.
-
Jul 8, 2026At its best, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced firmly establishes the formula for new remakes in the franchise, if not what all new Assassin's Creed games in 2026 and beyond should feel like. At its absolute bottom-of-the-ocean worst, it's a reminder of what made the Assassin's Creed franchise the beloved game series it was in the first place.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced takes one of the most beloved Assassin’s Creed games and overhauls it to a degree that absolutely justifies its existence. Ubisoft Singapore has brought the Caribbean to life like never before and improved combat and parkour at a foundational level. While enough is cut from the original Black Flag to prevent it from being the “complete” package, the core experience is a feast for the eyes and has never felt better to play, giving players the perfect excuse to fondly remember a classic in a new way.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is an absolute must-play. It’s a remake that may not take a lot of risks, but when you have such a legendary foundation to work with, the new quality-of-life upgrades make this an easy Game of the Year contender. I wish the combat were a bit more fleshed out and that side activities like Assassin’s Contracts weren't so bare-bones (they're barely worth mentioning), but overall, Resynced is a treasure well worth hunting down.
-
Jul 8, 2026With modern controls and some smart changes, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced brings the classic into the current AC era, smoothing out the wrinkles of the original game. With its sprawling and beautiful Caribbean ocean, Resynced wisely doesn't overwhelm the player with tasks, instead leaning into a fun but unobtrusive story that can be ignored for hours in favor of some rewarding exploration. While I bounced off the original, I can now see why so many people love this game.
-
Jul 8, 2026A great remake of a great game. It doesn't ruin what was good, improves what needed fixing, and adds new content at the same time. It can be overly simplified at times, but it's still the best option for fans of pirate stories.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag: Resynced is the best possible tribute Ubisoft could have paid to one of the saga’s most beloved and iconic entries. More than just a remake that lives up to expectations, it is a carefully crafted return that leaves no room for doubt. The addition of new scenes and an expanded storyline featuring familiar faces adds an extra layer of immersion and enjoyment. Thanks to the graphics engine used to recreate the game’s environments, along with its countless improvements, it stands as one of the best remakes of the year. It may even encourage Ubisoft to revive other classic entries, such as the one starring Altaïr.
-
Jul 8, 2026Black Flag Resynced marks the return of a great Assassin’s Creed game, but more importantly, the return of a true adventure. It is the kind of game that makes you want to set sail, explore, hunt for treasure, watch the sun go down over the ocean, and remember why Black Flag remains such a special entry in the series even today.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has been remade from the ground up using Ubisoft's in-house Anvil Engine, using the same technology that brought forth Shadows.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced proves that some classics only needed modern technology to shine even brighter. With stunning visuals, refined naval combat and meaningful additions to its original story, Ubisoft successfully modernizes one of the franchise's best entries without losing its identity. While minor issues with AI and Brazilian Portuguese lip-sync remain, the adventure of Edward Kenway is as captivating as ever, making this an essential remake for both longtime fans and newcomers.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is like discovering a lost treasure. So much could have gone wrong in bringing this behemoth back from the depths, but Ubisoft does so with tremendous care and respect.
-
Jul 8, 2026Black Flag might be Resynced, but its heart remains. In many ways this remake is a one-to-one carbon copy of the original, with some annoying bits shaved off and the good parts improved. With a few caveats, it remains that same great game from 2013, upgraded with flashier graphics, a snappy combat system, and added depth it desperately needed even 12 years ago.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is everything I wanted from a modern remake of one of the franchise’s most beloved entries. It respects what made the original so special while smartly refining the areas that needed improvement, such as combat and ship gameplay.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is an absolutely fantastic remake. Not only does it maintain what made the original so great in the first place, but every new addition only builds upon its foundation, each of which lends itself to a gameplay loop that never gets old and a visual style that frequently had me stunned with awe. Despite some problems here and there, this is still an absolute must-play, regardless of whether you are a new fan of Assassin's Creed or you've been following it since the beginning.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced nails what mattered most: the visuals are stunning, naval combat has never been better, and the expanded story finally gives Edward, Caroline, and the rest of the crew the depth they deserved. A few rough edges won't stop veterans from feeling the wind at their backs again — the Jackdaw is back, Edward is back, and in fine style.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced improves on the original game in various ways, resulting in an experience that feels more rewarding, immersive and dynamic. It looks bloody lovely, too. Whether you're an Assassin's Creed fan or simply want to be a pirate, consider this a must-play.
-
Jul 8, 2026The red "X" marked the spot. And for Ubisoft, it was a treasure that turned out to be real. After years of navigating rough seas, the company has finally found solid ground, bringing Edward Kenway's legendary adventure back in great fashion. It's fair to say that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is everything fans were hoping for.
-
Jul 8, 2026I’ve come away from Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced remarkably impressed, as it’s a top-notch remake of an already excellent game. Though there are a few little bumps throughout on the technical side, the revamped mechanics and expanded story, supported by the updated visuals, do more than enough to validate this remake’s existence. Whether or not you’ve played the original Black Flag, Resynced is certainly worthy of your time.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced successfully justifies its return with meaningful new story content, a refined combat system, and stunning visual upgrades that elevate one of the franchise's most beloved adventures. While some pacing issues from the original remain, the remake modernizes the experience without losing what made Edward Kenway's pirate journey so memorable, making it an easy recommendation for both newcomers and returning fans.
-
Jul 8, 2026While I have my gripes with some of the new content that's been introduced here, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a stellar remake of one of the best games the long-running series has to offer. Ubisoft Singapore has brought the pirate dream back to life with Resynced, and I think longtime fans will be very pleased with their efforts here.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remains one of the best video games ever made, with a beautiful, moving and action-heavy story worth experiencing. Resynced updates and modernises it, with clever tweaks to streamline its story and ensure the original game's legacy is never forgotten.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced does far more than enhance the visuals of an already captivating game. It also improves key aspects such as combat and the user interface, delivering an experience that is well worth revisiting. In addition, it introduces a substantial amount of fresh and varied content designed to entice even seasoned sea dogs who have already sailed through Edward Kenway’s adventure.
-
Jul 8, 2026For those who are already fans of the original or have always wanted to experience Edward Kenway's journey, I think it is well worth it. Even though it isn't perfect, in my opinion, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resyned reminds us just how good the franchise can be and remains one of the series' all-time highlights.
-
Jul 8, 2026The mix of the good memories and the new improvements works like a charm. This is a big (but not TOO big) adventure, full with action, surprises and great characters. The déjá vu factor is there, though.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag: Resynced modernizes a series classic without losing its unmatched pirate atmosphere. The definitive version of one of Assassin’s Creed’s finest entries.
-
Jul 8, 2026Resynced is a worthy remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Ubisoft has sensibly streamlined and modernised the game, and added new content. Despite offering little in the way of challenge, the whole pirat adventure has plenty to offer.
-
Jul 8, 2026Black Flag: Resynced is a strong remake that reminds us why the original is still so beloved. Its appeal comes less from being a classic Assassin's Creed game and more from being a thrilling pirate adventure with a fantastic Caribbean setting, spectacular naval battles and highly motivating progression. Some typical series weaknesses remain, including repetitive structures and occasional control issues, but the overall experience still captures the unique charm that made Black Flag special.
-
Jul 8, 2026A faithful and beautifully crafted remake that proves Black Flag remains one of the best pirate games ever made. While not every mechanic has aged gracefully, Ubisoft has delivered the definitive way to experience Edward Kenway's adventure.
-
Jul 8, 2026Veterans are going to enjoy revisiting the golden age of piracy, and newcomers get to experience what was still arguably one of the best games of all time.
-
Jul 8, 2026While there is a glaring omission to the content in this package, Black Flag Resynced feels like the definitive pirate adventure that Ubisoft Montreal wanted to tell more than a decade ago. All of the improvements make this one of the best looking (and playing) Assassin's Creed adventures to date.
-
Jul 9, 2026More than a decade after its original release, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag still stands apart as one of the most memorable entries in the franchise. At a time when the series has moved toward massive open worlds and RPG mechanics, Black Flag remains special because of its focus on adventure, exploration, and the simple joy of sailing across the Caribbean. That is also what made Resynced such a challenging project: modernize the experience without losing the identity that made the original so beloved. Ubisoft Singapore mostly succeeds by improving the visuals, refining certain mechanics, and adding new content while keeping the heart of Edward Kenway’s journey intact. It is not a perfect remake. The updated combat system can feel inconsistent, some choices like removing the modern-day Abstergo sections may divide fans, and a few new features could have been pushed further. But these issues never overshadow what made Black Flag great in the first place. Edward’s story remains one of the strongest in the series, the Caribbean is still a joy to explore, and the Jackdaw remains one of the best additions ever made to an Assassin’s Creed game. Whether you’re a longtime fan looking to return to the open seas or a newcomer discovering Edward Kenway’s adventure for the first time, Resynced proves that some journeys simply deserve to be experienced again. The treasure was already there, Ubisoft Singapore just polished it and brought it back to the surface.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is an excellent, revamped version that respects the most important aspects of the original adventure. Ideal for both veterans and new players.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a successful remake that modernizes a classic with improved visuals and expanded gameplay, serving as a solid action-adventure for both veterans and new players. While minor, aged flaws remain, the title successfully elevates the 2013 original and sets a strong foundation for the future of the series.
-
Jul 8, 2026Black Flag Resynced is the ultimate way to experience this fantastic adventure, even if some crack show through the new coat of paint
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced is a good but very safe remake. I still had a shocking amount of fun just sailing around and doing pirate things on the wide ocean, but the game lacks a certain confidence, and that keeps it from being a truly exceptional remake. It's a great way to revisit Edward's adventures with fewer rough patches, better graphics, and some extra content. Fans of the original will have a grand old time.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a refreshing reminder of the franchise's glory days. Charged with an infectious love for the original, Resynced is the best way to play the best Assassin's Creed game. If the Ezio trilogy is soon to get the same remaking, we can only hope it's treated in the same fashion.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced remains an excellent game, just like its predecessor was. Honestly, I can't say whether it's an unnecessary remake, because it definitely improves some aspects of the original, but makes others worse, such as the resource grind required to upgrade the Jackdaw. In the end, it's always great to replay a good game, especially in a newer and better-looking version, so yes, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced is worth it.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced successfully modernizes one of the best titles in the series thanks to impressive audiovisuals and new content. However, beneath that revamp lies a design inherited from 2013 that shows its age. Even so, it remains a fun, solid pirate adventure that comes highly recommended for both veterans and new players.
-
Jul 8, 2026For me, a lot of the joy and excitement of Assassin’s Creed comes from visiting a new era in history and rediscovering the series’ conflict through the lens of that time and place. This return to a familiar locale lacks that, but it should still offer it for newer players who never experienced the game more than a decade ago. But even without that sense of newness, Black Flag Resynced is an impressive rework, setting a high bar for how to return to an older action game and make it relevant once more. I’d prefer to sail to new horizons, but I’m also happy to rediscover a journey that reminds me why I embraced the franchise in the first place.
-
Jul 13, 2026This remake delivers a stunning visual overhaul of the Caribbean, particularly through its incredible water simulation and organic progression. Yet, the modernized combat sacrifices the classic power fantasy for clunky realism. Despite its technical ambition, persistent crashes and outdated AI frequently disrupt the experience, preventing this beautiful voyage from reaching its full potential.
-
Jul 10, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced serves as a great lesson in how a classic should be masterfully adapted to modern standards. Without ever compromising the original structure we love so much—the one that warms our hearts—it breaks free from the series’ recent clunky design and succeeds in delivering a pure, fluid, focused, and seamless action-adventure experience. Minor issues with the parkour mechanics or the lack of a modern storyline might give die-hard fans pause at first, but the visual feast provided by the Anvil engine and the seamless, open-sea experience—free of loading screens—more than make up for these shortcomings. If you’ve been missing the warm breezes of the Caribbean and that unique sense of freedom, you now have a great excuse to take the helm of the Jackdaw once again.
-
Jul 9, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced accomplishes the seemingly impossible: it modernizes what many consider a near-perfect game with more epic naval battles, expanded story content, revamped visuals and a host of quality-of-life improvements. The combat and stealth systems still aren't perfect and leave room for improvement, this ambitious remake instantly reminded us why Edward Kenway's adventure remains, and always will be, one of the most beloved entries among Assassin's Creed fans.
-
Jul 8, 2026Black Flag Resynced isn’t a revolution—it’s a tribute. But sometimes, all it takes is to revive a legend to remind us just how great it was. In this particular case, the journey is still just as worth taking—or even more so, depending on what you’re looking for—without completely smoothing out its rough edges.
-
Jul 8, 2026Where 2020’s Sea Of Thieves sets you and your mates up for multiplayer, grog-chugging hijinks, Resynced cements Black Flag’s place as the quintessential story-driven pirating epic. By being a plunder-led adventure first and an Assassin’s Creed game second, it remains a treasure-nabbing triumph, even with a few flaws. Put simply: this rum-soaked remake is a swashbuckling good time.
-
Jul 8, 2026The game’s old strengths hold firm. The depth and variety of Edward’s day-to-day life still delights – one day he’s upgrading the manor at his private cove, the next he’s clambering Incan ruins for Templar treasure. Primary quests are well-paced, well-acted, and have a knack for making you feel heroic. But in the end, it’s the moments in between that make this game special. It’s when you’re sailing your ship at night, watching the lanterns sway, listening to the crew sing a shanty. This game gives you enough space to feel a pirate’s freedom, now more than ever. It may be a case of Ubisoft plundering its own library for riches, but players get their fair share of the booty.
-
Jul 8, 2026Between its strengths and weaknesses, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced makes it very clear that Ubisoft’s brilliance has never faded—it was merely overshadowed by aspects that weren’t as satisfying as they had been in the past. The new features are very welcome and make the game better and more fun, while the removal of the Abstergo segment creates damaging narrative gaps. Just as Ubisoft’s brilliance returns, that lingering shadow of “Bugsoft” still haunts certain moments, but without ruining the experience.
-
Jul 8, 2026An ambitious remake of the iconic 2013 pirate game that more than does justice to the original.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a gorgeous, bittersweet reminder of the days when Ubisoft actually fired on all cylinders. Getting back under the Havana sun and living the pirate fantasy looks better than ever, but the illusion shatters the moment the new content kicks in. The added cutscenes and dialogue are shockingly subpar—or, frankly, exactly the kind of mid-tier quality we’ve come to expect from modern Ubisoft. It’s a trip down memory lane that proves how incredible this studio used to be, and how great they could be again if they’d just stop standing in their own way.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag: Resynced plays it safe—and it’s a good thing. The changes it introduces are necessary, and the visual overhaul will leave fans speechless, especially if they decide to take the plunge underwater. A few repetitive side activities and tedious boss fights take some of the shine off the game, but they don’t manage to overshadow the quality of this remake.
-
Jul 8, 2026Thirteen years later, Black Flag still proves what was already clear back in 2013: it's a far better pirate adventure than it is a traditional Assassin's Creed, and that's arguably its greatest strength. Resynced improves almost every aspect of the original, adds a fair amount of new content, and makes exploring the Caribbean more immersive than ever. Technical issues and a handful of questionable design decisions keep it from reaching true greatness, but it's still an solid remake and one of Ubisoft's strongest releases in recent years, delivering dozens of engaging hours on the high seas.
-
Jul 8, 2026Thanks to its seafaring adventures, thrilling naval combat, tight and varied combat encounters, thoughtful stealth, plenty to discover, a top performance from the lead, and glorious visuals, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag is an easygoing joy of a game. How much it retools the original, I’m not sure, but this remake feels right at home in 2026. I never understood why Black Flag got the remake treatment first, but now I get it. This is a pirate adventure for the ages.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced works because it represents an excellent synthesis of the saga's past and present. Not everything flows smoothly: the narrative additions are interesting on paper and introduce fun gameplay elements, but they lack in terms of the production. The gameplay formula, however, suffers a bit from some elements borrowed and carried over from the RPG era, particularly the combat. Everything else, from the graphics to the stealth, from the parkour to the exploration and naval phases, is the result of a consistent evolution and modernization that respects the original experience. All in all, Resynced is a victory for both Ubisoft and the players: because, after so many years, we have in our hands a game worthy of the name Assassin's Creed.
-
Jul 8, 2026The Dark Animus rifts stand in deep opposition to how naturally every other change in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced gels with the rest of the experience. From small additions like the cute cat or monkey that hangs near the Jackdaw’s wheel to sizable alterations like the overhauled stealth mechanics, Resynced does an excellent job of touching up a classic with features that feel like they were there in the first place. Ubisoft didn’t slowly swap out every board of the Jackdaw and turn it into something else; it’s no Ship of Theseus. Instead, the team cleverly fortified its existing foundation in order to ensure this famous pirate ship will stand up a little more accurately to the lofty tales that precede it.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a great remake of a classic game and does a great job of walking the tightrope between respecting the original source material and introducing new content and modernizing aged features. Cut content is a shame, and the game’s more repetitive elements don’t age well, but there’s a lot to love here for new and returning players. The overhauled combat, beautiful world, and chock-full map truly got the game’s hooks in me — all over again.
-
Jul 8, 2026If you enjoyed the original adventure, chances are you will love Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. It keeps everything that made that game so special and adds more than enough new content to make revisiting it worthwhile. Unfortunately, the splendid new visuals aren’t enough to hide cracks in the open world foundation, lacklustre side activities, and a combat system that refuses to offer any depth before the first few hours. Somehow, though, all of this ceases to matter when your crew breaks into a shanty as you sail off into the sunset. These moments made me forget about the behemoth this series would become and enjoy my time spent as a legendary pirate trying to find his place in a changing world.
-
Jul 8, 2026A polished, faithful revival, AC Black Flag Resynced enhances, develops and improves upon the original while remaining structurally a 2013 game.
-
Jul 8, 2026Beautifully crafted, this remake remains us how fun is to be a pirate within the Assassin's Creed universe.
-
Jul 8, 2026The developers at Ubisoft have clearly gone to great lengths to ensure that this remake deserves to exist, and it’s very clear after spending many hours with the game that it’s a love letter to the fans and the developers. The folks at Ubisoft have made one of the best games ever, even better. Whether you’re a returning veteran or a newbie, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is the definitive way to experience this all-time classic.
-
Jul 8, 2026A skilful remake of one of the best loved Assassin’s Creed games, that retains an impressive diversity of tasks, complemented by gorgeous new visuals, streamlined systems, and perfectly pitched additional content.
-
Jul 8, 2026Like a captain going down with their ship, Ubisoft has remained loyal to the classic Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag experience in this new Resynced version. It’s as you remember it, except better, bigger, and markedly flashier in all the right ways. Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced demonstrates there’s still a charm to staying faithful.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a great remake of a game that probably didn't need to be remade. Of all the games in the AC franchise, Black Flag holds up better than many, but that doesn't change the fact that I had a wonderful time going back. The cast, setting and atmosphere are still some of the best ever realised in the series, and the new content feels right at home.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a warm bath of fond memories, wrapped in an entertaining pirate adventure. Once again, the setting stuns thanks to its beautifully revamped world. While not without its flaws, this is a worthy remake of one of the most beloved Assassin's Creed titles.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced does exactly what a great remake is supposed to do: replace the original as the definitive version of the game in the minds of fans. It looks, plays, and sounds better than the OG in every way, and makes up for the exclusion of the old modern-day segments with many hours of additional gameplay that round out Edward Kenway's story. Best of all, it feels like the classic AC adventures I love; simpler due to the lack of complicated action-RPG mechanics, but no less enjoyable.
-
Jul 8, 2026If we're judging the game based on the parameters of a remake, it must also be said Ubisoft has done a fantastic job, serving up a tight and technically sound product with glossy and striking visuals, a wonderful attention to detail, and with the same beloved story and narrative at its core. Resynced is a top-of-the-line remake but quite an archaic action-adventure game at the same time.
-
Jul 8, 2026Black Flag Resynced proves that Ubisoft still understands why this became one of the most popular Assassin's Creed games ever. The revamped gameplay and stunning Caribbean setting make getting lost in the open world a joy once again. The new additions are a fun but superficial complement, and rarely manage to evoke the same feeling and quality that made Black Flag so strong thirteen years ago. Ultimately, this remake is above all a tribute to a world that has stood the test of time remarkably well.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced successfully builds on the strong base established by the original release, but makes a few missteps.
-
Jul 8, 2026Black Flag Resynced is an extremely fun return to an old favourite, with some of the crunchier edges sanded off for a modern-day sensibility.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a triumph. Whilst I was nervous about such significant changes, they are mostly for the better. Combat in particular is a bit more challenging now, whilst also still allowing quick assassinations, naval warfare now has more options and is still the best ship-to-ship combat in gaming, and the removal of the modern day sequences makes space for more historical story and missions. It can get a little muddled and has the classic Ubisoft quirks and issues, but it’s hard not to enjoy this remake.
-
Jul 8, 2026Black Flag Resynced is a restoration born of a genuine love for its subject matter, and this is both its greatest strength and its most obvious limitation. On a technical and artistic level, it is a joy—the sea, the light, and the Caribbean once again cast their spell, perhaps even more potently than before—and the wealth of new content proves there was no shortage of daring talent. It is a shame, then, that this boldness didn't extend to the game's very foundations, leaving behind combat that feels (perhaps) too tame and a storyline that time has inevitably faded. Nevertheless, it remains a fantastic way to hoist the sails again—or to do so for the first time, if you missed out on Edward’s Caribbean back in the day.
-
Jul 8, 2026A competent yet very safe remake that will satisfy both fans and newcomers.
-
Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced succeeds in its mission to modernize the game's presentation, yet struggles to hide the aging cracks in its core open-world formula. The pirate immersion in the heart of the Caribbean is fantastic, elevated by a cast of supporting characters—both new and returning—who remain as engaging as ever. However, a camera that often goes haywire during combat, occasionally tedious repetition in the action, and a lack of improvements to the main campaign prevent this first remake from reaching true greatness—at least for now. That said, Black Flag Resynced did succeed in making me imagine what a remake of Altaïr’s or Ezio’s adventures might look like, and I would certainly love to revisit those eras with this level of polish. This new version offers a great summer adventure for newcomers and a sweet dose of nostalgia for veterans. But if you are already burnt out on the Assassin’s Creed formula, Resynced isn't going to be the game that redeems it for you.

Jul 13, 2026It's not far off the mark on the character scale - this is clearly the best version of Black Flag - but the experience clearly bears the mark of the time it came out and pales in comparison to many of the games that have come since.

Jul 8, 2026Pitched as Ubisoft’s flagship and bounce back title for this year’s AAA open-world experience, it is perhaps, and this isn’t meant harshly, not essential gaming in 2026; also in light of other AAA open-world experiences that may be also coming out in 2026. There is a stipulation on this comment, however, that rests somewhere on a sliding scale of whether or not someone has played the original back in the day or not. For a fan of the original, it’s a pleasure to revisit its characters and world and it will be surprising to them just how much variety of content there was in the original that is now carried over into a much shinier remake. Whether that would be the case for someone who has never played the original, it would be interesting to hear about because it doesn’t dare to push toward any new ground really. The question it asks, though, is does it have to? What Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced does do, and what Ubisoft has generally been good at creating over the years, is the perfect casual experience, and it is hitherto priced as such. Oft’ a casual experience is preferred to pushing envelopes, taking names and breaking new ground. Oft’ a casual experience can end up being your favourite world to be immersed in. Pirates are great and being a pirate is great.

Jul 8, 2026Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced isn't smooth sailing. Strong pirate adventure foundations and roguish charm keep this remake afloat, but it splashes between wanting to be faithful, and wanting to make adjustments, not quite able to find an elegant middleground between the two. Combined with bugs and other annoyances, this isn't the bold, confident swing its predecessor was, but still a fun outing.

Jul 8, 2026With being one of the best looking games of this generation, Black Flag Resynced is a faithful remake whose brilliance is occasionally clouded by technical bugs.

Jul 8, 2026Black Flag Resynced shines with its spectacular graphics, but just about everything else falls short. The animation and logic glitches—including getting “stuck” in the environment—the lackluster narrative, and the extreme simplification of combat mean it isn’t a very fun game.

Jul 8, 2026There is an ebb and flow to Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: for every positive change the remake offers, it feels like there's a negative just beneath the surface.
