I was interested in this game since it was released in WiiU and it was a good surprise to know that it was been released again in PS4. I saw reviews and videos in youtube so I knew what the game would give to me: a clasical zombie survival game, nothing more, nothing less. If you want something more in this game, this is not your game, but as a zombi horror game it´s pretty decent. The sounds are pretty good and creates a good atmosphere that makes possible to be scared, even if the graphics are just ok. The gameplay it´s...well, not very good but this is a good thing, you are a normal person, not a hero or something like that, fighting should be something hard and you should avoid this. This being said, the game doesn´t offer many more option than fighting because you can´t hide. As said before, the graphics are just ok... its a old, WiiU game, you can´t expect more at this cost.
TL; DR: a good zombi survival horror that doesn´t offer anything new to the genre but it´s decent.

With that said, this game is a decent/good but not close to great game. What this game does right is the feel of it. What I mean by that is, it's silent, it's dark and the sound and background noise make it a tense experience. Mix that with the fact that the infected are difficult to kill and can pop out around any corner, this is quite a suspense filled game. The story itself is pretty decent as well, but your character is basically a meaningless John doe opposed to controlling a character with his own path and story. What makes this game good as well is the strategic approach you must take to every mission, and the scarcity of weapon ammunition. You can choose to bring a ton of flares and mines to destroy zombie hordes quickly, or you could hack zombies one by one repeatedly or waste ammunition on them. You have safe houses to unlock as well as shortcuts to unlock to escape to safe houses quickly. Through out your playthrough you learn the ability to lock pick, upgrade your scanner/pad so you can scan/hack secured doors, use your scanner to spot infected, doors, and survival tools, etc.. plenty of good to this game especially the fact that if you are killed by the infected, you respawn in your safe house as a new character and have the option to move on in the story and find new inventory or go back to where you died, kill your zombified old self and get your equipment back. Now.. With all that I pointed out, I gave this game a 7 due in large part to graphics and hand to hand combat as a whole. Graphics are definitely not next gen and are very dated, and killing even the average infected can take 10 hits to the head when it should take 3 at most.. what makes it worse is that even firearms can be underpowered, as I've had moments where I shot an infected in the head 3 times and it kept coming. Only way to kill infected efficiently is to stock up on explosives, flares and shotgun ammo. This game is not the greatest game, but it certainly isn't bad at all. Combat and graphics aren't very good but the tense atmosphere, dim lighting, and overall sound and feel of this game is definitely survival/horror that has been missing in gaming over the years. This game is a 7 for me.. for $20 on the ps store, this is a game you can't go wrong with.. and though I pointed out that graphics and combat are negatives, if you're a gamer (like myself) it won't kill your experience with it. Very good value for money for this portage on next gen console. No addition but the price is fair and the core experience is still really fun. Play it in the dark ;)

Nice port at a decent price: approved! This game is one of the purest forms of actual survival horror to date: I take my time with every room I enter, every street I walk through, and search for anything that could help. Any gamer who enjoys overcoming strategic challenges will find it addictive!

In my eyes, horror doesn't need to be scary, simply suspenseful. And Zombi did that for me. Many moments I spent in this game had me backed into a corner, low on health, and surrounded by the dead. The story is interesting, but nothing special. Visuals are clunky but reasonable for a 20 dollar release. I had a few bugs throughout my playthrough as well, and it really over all felt a bit flat in the end. But, Zombi is a decent game. Pretty good in my eyes, but something you'll need a taste for to enjoy it. Expand

It's a real treat for hardcore zombie fans. While the title's often frustrating issues are still present, it's good ideas still shine through to make for an excellent experience for zombie fanatics. Mix in some new additions and you've got a port that manages to narrowly outshine it's Wii U counterpart.

One of the key selling points of ZombiU when it first released was how it took advantage of the Wii U's two screen experience. The game was basically built around it and that's part of what helped set it apart from other zombie games. It was an integral part of the experience. At least that's what I thought before. In Zombi all the action takes place on one screen. Seeing all of ZombiU's functions move so flawlessly and naturally over like this makes me wonder what all the fuss in regards to ZombiU's two-screen system was all about. The only thing missing from Zombi due to the switch to one-screen is the local multiplayer option, which wasn't all that exciting anyway.

Well, enough about the differences from the Wii U version for now. Onto what makes Zombi so great in the first place. It's nice to see a zombie game that takes it's undead hordes seriously. So many zombie games make it easy to blow your way through big groups. In Zombi however, even one-on-one encounters with the undead can be dangerous if you aren't careful. Zombies can take some damage before going down and if you die that's it. Another one of Zombi's great features is the permadeath mechanic, which in a sense makes the game part roguelike. While you don't lose any progress in the story, when your character dies they take your gear with them. When you respawn with a new character it's up to you to decide to hunt down your old gear or not from your now zombified previous character.

This is admittedly where some frustration can sneak in. Suppose you die again before you can hunt down your old character. If that happens then all the gear they were carrying is just gone. Something that can screw you out of good items. That's part of Zombi's risk and reward system. It's up to you to choose what gear to carry and what to store at your safe house. Also, the longer you stay alive in the game the more your skills will level up, giving you a stronger survivor. Losing a character you've put some time into and ending up with someone weaker is something else that stings a bit.

This is what I love about Zombi. Yes, all of this can lead to a lot of frustration, but it's a genuinely challenging game that rewards smart thinking. Carefully managing threats and planning ahead of time are often things you must do. As a result, it's probably one of the most realistic zombie games I've ever played. Something that does admittedly contribute to what is likely Zombi's biggest issue. While the game gives you all the tools you need to succeed, sometimes death can still feel like it wasn't your fault. This is due to the combat system, which was the biggest complaint reviewers had with ZombiU when it first released.

The game's emphasis is on melee combat. Simply put, bashing these zombies to death is often a lengthier experience than it often should be. They often take multiple hits to go down. Something that can make taking on more than one at once a trying experience and groups more than two often a death sentence. With ammo being so limited, the gunplay being a touch clunky (you are a civilian after all), and the sound usually just drawing more attention, melee is often your only option. This normally isn't a problem given that you are allowed to take things slow and play smart for most of the game, allowing you to avoid these vexing encounters if you keep on your toes. So when the game throws sections at you where you are forced into scenarios where you're surrounded by the undead, all of whom are alerted to your presence and in pursuit, death can feel cheap.

However Zombi does something to alleviate some of this in a way that ZombiU did not: It gives you more melee weapons. In ZombiU you were left with only the cricket bat. In Zombi you can find two other, more powerful alternatives. While you'll still be giving deadheads more than a few swings to bring them down, it won't take as long as with just the cricket bat. This is really the new addition that makes me feel like Zombi is actually a bit better than ZombiU. Two new melee weapons might not sound like much, but I found them to be almost game changing. Zombi's other new additions are minor (like skins for the cricket bat), but are still nice.

Putting the survival in survival-horror, Zombi has a lot of great ideas. If you're willing to put up with it's issues and outright irritations, Zombi can be a rewarding and satisfying experience like few other zombie games on the market. With things like it's dark environments it even goes along way towards making zombies scary again.

The original ZombiU could hardly be called a good game but the experience it provided was quite solid. That's exactly what the problem with this port is - it lacks all the unique features the Wii U version had. It was the Wii U GamePad usage that made the game, at the very least, memorable, and none of those stunning abilities it gave the player are present in this shallow, budget port. The original ZombiU could hardly be called a good game but the experience it provided was quite solid. Zombi has graphics and game play that just don't cut it for a current gen release. The selection of weapons, enemies and locations is quite poor. Each level feels cramped and quite linear, you can't really get yourself into trouble or go looting and exploring. While it's price tag does offset this deficiency somewhat.

Here you play as a random character out to basically do chores in a thruway world, with throwaway characters in a throwaway story…
This is a chores games set in london, of go from point a to b, collect what you can along the way and try not to die..
You start with an unbreakable melee weapon, and a pistol with 6 bullets…
You then set out to gather whatever from a location given to on the map..
And along the way youll find health pick ups, new weapons and ammo…
And there are zombies all over the place in your way from completing your task…
This game is sortve delivered in the style of a souls game..
Everything feels connected, youll be unlocking shortcuts as you run around the areas collecting key cards and completing tasks…
Youll be unlocking shortcuts for when you die..
Which brings me to this games twist…
Once you die you respawn as a new character… all level progression is gone…. its then up to you to go back to where you died, kill the zombi version of yourself to re collect your materials and go…
But if you die on your way back, you lose everything.. youll be in the middle of the game feeling like a fresh spawn…
Which isn’t all too bad, but the fact you lose every weapon you picked up along the way stings..
It hurts losing your shotgun or crossbow..
It happened to me about an 2 hrs away from this games ending..
The game by the way only takes about 6 hours to complete…
    And that’s with being thurough..
Thankfully thuroughness isn’t that difficult as youre given a scanner for lootable items…
The game sounds pretty simple enough, but it can absolutely feel frustrating at times…
This is a survival game in every sense of the word…
You have to be mindful of your ammo and health.. you have a pretty small backpack and weapons take up space.. some youll have to just leave behind so you have that extra health on you…
And pick ups are actually pretty rare.. especially health pick ups..
Enemies hardly ever have anything on them… which again makes this game feel frustrating especially when youre deep into the map and havnt found any shortcuts, and the game wants to throw cheep exploding enemies at you that you don’t realize are explodable until its too late…
it just breaks your heart and makes you want to quit…
And sadly this game feels more stressful than fun and addictive…
The focus is on chores rather than exploration…
The thing that makes souls games so hard to put down is youre dying to see whats around the next corner..
While here in zombie, every corner is the same so that hook just isn’t there…
I did ultimately enjoy my time with zombie.. but those moments of cheapness and feelings of unfun frustration cant be overlooked…
    I give Zombi
    a 6/10

Even though I love playing horror games, I am quite a chicken, and play these games very slowly and deliberately, taking my time as I go through the levels. I'm really having fun with Zombi, and I do find the game quite scary. The noises that the zombies make are disturbing, and the game is fairly gruesome, with zombie heads exploding with your attacks. The game has a form of permadeath, where if you die, you don't load from a previous save to try again. Instead what happens is you take control of a new survivor, and you must find your previous character (who is now a zombie), and kill him or her to get your equipment back. It makes for some tense moments, because when you respawn, you are only equipped with minimal equipment to take on the enemies. As fun as the game is, it's not perfect. It's easy to get overwhelmed during certain points in the game when you are attacked by a large horde of zombies, and there is one section of the game in particular I found quite annoying. Thankfully, it didn't last long, and I was on to a more enjoyable part of the game in short order. The graphics are not amazing, but they get the job done. I will say, I'm not a person who puts a lot of importance on graphics. As long as they are decent, I'm happy. I don't believe every game needs to be the next Crysis. So in short, Zombi is a fun horror game that I recommend highly to fans of the genre! Expand

Not so much a game play fail as The Walking Dead Survival Instincts, but it did come in a close second. I liked the survival concepts in both games, but both had the same problem with poor game play execution. I just got a dated low budget feeling with a slice of Survival Instincts nostalgia playing Zombi. Both games could be beat individually in just about five hours each. A very average survival zombie game. It follows characters surviving a zombie apocalypse in London. The survivors follow a random voice that they are supposed to believe will help them live. There were many different areas to look at even though the game is very linear. The zombies come off as being pretty scary even though they do not graphically look the best. Their movements also are very sporadic and not natural. The combat is minimized to "lemme beat this zombie with my stick," and that is not something that is very fun in my opinion. It is a lot of the same action happening over and over again. The smart scanner or radar the player is given at the beginning is an annoying concept that does not do much. Overall, the game is pretty enjoyable and will only take the average person about ten hours to complete. Expand

I enjoyed this game, I love it, still think it's a 7. If they ever make it for switch, it would be nice to improve the combat, let's make the zombies die in one or two hits at close range melee attacks.

I loved the gameplay. A nice change of style and pace. Some of the level designs could have been bigger/better but all in all a worthwhile purchase

Quirky game set in London during a zombie outbreak. Somewhat clunky controls however the permadeath for each character is pretty interesting and the story isnt bad all things considered. Genuially difficult to complete

Like the game very much. Maybe the best zombie game I ever played. I'm not kidding. There is a reason why this game is a cult classic.

But in reality, I'm also writing here to check if my review will show up. Because on a different game here I tried many times and it just won't. So basically it tells you that some game scores here are pretty f**** not objective. Use metacritics as one

Answer: 75 characters is between 10 words and 19 words with spaces included in the character count. If spaces are not included in the character count, then 75 characters is between 12 words and 25 words.

Zombi, originally a PlayStation Vita RPG port, attempts to deliver a creepy zombie experience but falls short in certain areas. The gameplay is locked at 30fps, which limits the fluidity of the overall experience. Additionally, it can't escape the feeling of being a clone of Dead Island.

This port can't really hit the same high notes of the original on WiiU, and from a technical standpoint it's definitely not the best around. At least the price tag is low.

So compelling are the first seven or so hours that the filthy tricks of the finale can't even sour them. [Issue#166, p.96]

On a technical level, sadly, Zombi disappoints. That said, Zombi is saved by an evocative world and a few innovative features that make it feel newer. [December 2015, p71]
