PSVR’s first proper MMORPG almost buckles under the weight of its aspirations with long load times. However, it’s a firm foundation for Ramen VR to build on. [Issue#12, p.92]

The game delivers what is advertises. A fully fledged VR MMO RPG. All elements are present, from quests, to exploration, to items, to upgrades. Graphically the quality is simplistic so it can "fit" to all VR headsets capabilities but that is acceptable. Amazing job with text on menus and on dialogs. If you have played enough VR content, you know sharpness, and especially text sharpness is hard to find. Very well organized and diverse quests such as story, repeatable/hunt, adventure/exploration and cooking. Yes, cooking system could be a game of its own. The company has made a great job and it shows. Combat system is responsive and very surprisingly you can actually have multiple types of attacks as you have spells in other MMOs but here instead of shortcuts you have, what the words say : "real types of attack". vertical strikes, horizontal strikes, dashing, ultimates, etc. Now not all is fine, but I am sure this is just the beginning. There are two things that are not of my personal taste. First there is a relative lack of NPCs. You got some NPCs as quest givers but personally I would like to see more "idle" or "inactive" NPCs walking around eg in the city. At the time of writing there are not any. Maybe it's a matter of performance, but as I walk past the empty benches and squares of the city (in the beginning of the game) it feels a little empty. Of course there are many other players but I want to see how it is going to be in some months from now. Second and this is again a personal opinion is the music. The music is a wonderful calming music, to hear on beauty centers and supermarkets. Don't get me wrong, It sounds perfect and matches the feeling of security when you are lets say, in town.. It grasps finely aspects of the anime genre, but not my taste. I love how the music changes to a more mysterious one when in the first "dungeon" but I'd prefer more "uplifting" music e.g. during fights. Exploration system with climbing and gliding really excels, and it is not put there to showcase the tech, but actually have a mechanic to match game elements. Overall a great VR game, for the current technological state of the HMDs, made by a passionate team that show their passion in their creation. Surely one not to miss. Expand
