This game is probably the most well executed titles in the Yu-Gi-Oh! series.

It has every version, as well as tutorials to help understand the game. The script is on point, and the gameplay is just as satisfying as playing it in real life. The constant pop-ups are always frustrating, however it needs to be there to work. Absolutely great game, and very well worth the low price

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is just good but lacks of voice acting. Legacy of the Duelist is probably the most satisfying Yu-Gi-Oh video game I've ever played. I played the GBA games back when those were big, and this game is much more detailed (and has over 6,000 cards to collect). You also get to relive the duels of all five generations of the Yu-Gi-Oh TV series (Duel Monsters, GX, 5D's, Zexal, and a little bit of Arc-V). But I don't really care about any of those except for the original Duel Monsters series, since that was the one I grew up with. It covers a decent amount of that show, but not as much as I had hoped (the Noah arc isn't there at all, and I think there's a bunch of other stuff missing too). That said, most of the battles you care about are there from the beginning of the show up through the Battle City season. You can either use the story deck or your own custom deck for each duel, and you can even play as the opposing side if you want (giving you a chance to use Pegasus' deck against Yugi, rather than the other way around). If you are looking for a straight good Yu-gi-oh game, then this is the one to get. It has online play, a good story mode, with interesting match ups, and is very worth the $20 price tag. Basically, if you want to get off yugioh pro or duel network to a place where not everyone has every card in existence, and there's a bit more polish, then this is worth it.

The only problem ive been having is finding a match for sealed format. Going to keep trying, and hopefully it works, because that was really half the reason I purchased it.

Buy it if you are a yugioh fan who wants to play, but doesn't want to buy cards irl.

Do you enjoy playing yugioh? or perhaps enjoyed playing in the past? if the answer is yes then you should definitely pick this game up.I have 50 plus of gameplay I finished the campaign and playing multiplayer online at the moment which is solid by the way. I would also highly recommend this game to new people that want to get into yugioh cards

I grew up on Yu-Gi-Oh when I was a child. I was 10 years old when the show and cards had released. I had fell in love at first sight and continued to play for 3 years. I had quit for about 6 years and then came back and the love is still there, even though many of the mechanics had changed. I do not like how the way 5ds turned out. But anyway, the game itself is great and has from what II grew up on Yu-Gi-Oh when I was a child. I was 10 years old when the show and cards had released. I do not like how the way 5ds turned out. But anyway, the game itself is great and has from what I believe all of the cards minus some new ones. The minor complaint I do have is the lack of the new arc not being included, it is nice that the cards are there though. A few of the great adds are the reverse duels which add quite a lot of replayability and the challenge modes. There is also a lack of tag duels in the game which bothers me because they were in the last one. I might be able to understand that they removed it because people wouldn't play the other modes added but tag duels was a big thing. It is still a great game none the less. I would have given it a 9 if it had a tag-duel mode. Expand

This game is decent at best. Hardly any of the monsters receive 3D-models, the first player doesn't get to draw a card, and some trap cards which are supposed to stop magic spells don't actually stop them. I think Yu-Gi-Oh could have a much better game if they created a story for it, made sure the rules were correct, and had 3D-models for every card in the game, at least monsters if not all.

It's a solid Yu-Gi-Oh! game and as someone who only played the original card game back in the days, the game offers neat little tutorials that introduce you to the new cards and mechanics that have been added over the years. In general I think Konami could've done better with the UI, once you get a lot of cards scrolling through becomes really painful and the search function could've been better. If you want to play a Yu-Gi-Oh! on the homeconsoles I'd recommend this one since there is no arbitrary paywall unlike the previous game on the PS3.

I always admired the mechanics of Yu-Gi-Oh as a card game, but since time has moved on and it's become less socially acceptable to play Yu-Gi-Oh now that I'm a grown-ass man, I figured it would be nice if I could satisfy that occasional pang of Yu-Gi-Oh nostalgia by playing this game.

Legacy of the Duelist is probably the most satisfying Yu-Gi-Oh video game I've ever played. I played the GBA games back when those were big, and this game is much more detailed (and has over 6,000 cards to collect). You can either use the story deck or your own custom deck for each duel, and you can even play as the opposing side if you want (giving you a chance to use Pegasus' deck against Yugi, rather than the other way around).

You also win all sorts of trinkets for completing individual duels, including signature cards, and a sizable amount of DP (duelist points) you can use to buy different packs. You can also make up to 10 customizable decks with the cards you get, which is pretty handy.

Yes, the game features online duels too, but I haven't gotten the chance to try those out yet (I'm afraid I'll get stomped since I haven't been playing long). But based on how in-depth the rest of the game is, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I'll update this review if there are any glaring problems with the online.

The majority of the issues I have with the game are less about the features in the game and more about the game's presentation. What little character models there are are extremely underwhelming - seeing an ugly PS2-era Blue-Eyes White Dragon materialize out of your card leaves a lot to be desired. Fortunately very few of these cards have these ugly animations. Most of the time it plays like you're playing the card game, with few interruptions.

Also, there are no clips from the anime to bridge the duels you complete, and you get no chance to explore the world. All you get is a list of duels to beat in chronological order, and some text-based retelling of the context behind it. Considering the fact that past games have let you explore the world, and the fact that the world Yu-Gi-Oh takes place in is actually a fairly interesting one, this is a missed opportunity.

On top of the other presentation-related complaints, the background of the playing arena rarely changes, and neither does the boring loop of music, making most duels feel same-y and of little consequence. I just switch on the Pandora app on Xbox One when I tire of the in-game music.

Overall though, if you're looking for a way to play the straight Yu-Gi-Oh card game, build custom decks, play competitively with people online, and relive the anime (or maybe discover it for the first time), this is a surprisingly good package for the seemingly hefty $20 price tag. Hey, it's either find some friends who aren't embarrassed to play Yu-Gi-Oh and shell out on expensive packs and decks for the real thing, or shell out the $20 for this game.

Personally, I'm all for the latter. :)

The Dialog on this game is riddled with little typos. You'd think for a $20 game they'd have hired a person to check the selling!
    2. No free roam! -
Sadly this installment unlike the tag force series had no ability to free roam which IMO was quite fun and added to the story. In this game its basically a comic book with battles in between "Issues".
    3. The DLC! -
The DLC for this game is ridiculous. Its $5 for as little as one new person to duel. If you purchased this game for $20 then bought all of the DLC it would end up costing you $60! Thats right folks the price of a AAA game!
    4. The animations -
For some of the more popular and memorable of cards there are these little animations when you destroy monsters. Ultimately these are really hit or miss and annoying! When I say hit or miss I mean a lot of popular cards (Egyptian god cards, Exodia ect) are not even given animations (The ones I've seen thus far (Blue eyes, Dark magician & Red eyes). But thank god they did not do this for every card! Because whenever you attack you have to sit through this little animation over and over. Honestly forbidden memories had is right where you had to attack pressing a specific button for the animations.

In conclusion I must say its a rather fun play but the creators of this game clearly got to money hungry and lazy. They want AAA money for a game with PS2 graphics and not so great story telling.

The game is structured as follows: You got a campaign where you can play most of all the duels from the several tv series. You can play multiplayer against other people, and there is a challenge mode where you open packs and make a deck from scrap cards. Unfortunately some key duels in the series are locked behind DLC. That's very **** Konami.

While playing you will earn credits which you can use in the deck store to buy packs. These credits are only in-game and not premium, and you can get most cards in the game this way. But... unfortunately Konami decided to lock several decks, which number in easily a thousand cards, behind a separate pay wall. These often include popular cards from the series to incentify extra spending. This is a shame.

Luckily the actual game works well and is fun. This is a great game if you are into Yu-Gi-Oh and don't have any one to play with. At a starting price of 15 Euros this is a great deal with many hours of fun.

    It's a good game. I give it a 7/10.

Konami would do well in scouting out a new development team to handle the next Yu-Gi-Oh! game. With the last couple being workmanlike but unremarkable efforts, it's difficult to shake the feeling that without an overhaul the star of this particular CCG is only going to fade further. And that would be a pity, because the core card game remains one of the most strategic that we've ever seen.
