It took me more than 27 hours having done most of sidequests and some extra things, so if you stick only to the main story it would probably take you about 20 hours. Is it a good game? Taking in consideration all that I've said, yes. Is it a must have game? In my opinion no, it's not, but it's worthy when you are running out of good games. Expand

A satisfying final chapter for one of my favorite video game protagonists ever. Buttery smooth fluid action & graphics. I was definitely less engaged with the side content this go-round, but the main story was more than enough to make this a worthy finale.

The story is set after the events of Yakuza 5 where Kiryu served 4 years willingly in jail to protect his chosen family of orphans in the Morning Glory Orphanage. However when he returns he find his adoptive daughter Haruka has been missing for approx 3 years. The clues lead him again to Kamurocho where he is again draw into a plot far greater than it seems. I like the story and old and new characters. It gets a bit ridiculous at the end but this is a bit the DNA for Yakuza games so I wont mind. It is about the values of family, betrayals and power struggles. The new characters are amazing. I especially like Toru Hirose who is modeled after Takeshi “Beat” Kitano
but the rest of his family and leaders of the faction are amazing too. The gameplay itself is as expected really good. I must however point out that the controls in battle feel clunky at first until I realized I have to improve my stats for evasion to get working results. All activities level up soe of 5 different pools of experience. Those can be used to increase stats or get new abilities. Beware that those need specific pools. Also don't underestimate eating in restaurants (Felt like I got 50% of my total exp there ;-).The strengths of the Yakuza games are the activities. You have tons of side quest and mini games. Be it a darts majong, karaoke, videogames, clan battles and more. I especially like the fishing and baseball minigames. First is like an on rail shooter and the second more of a simulation. The graphics and soundtrack are good for franchise standards. My complains are like I said I wanted all old characters to at least made a cameo for the final game, that they cut of a huge chunk of Kamurocho (but Onomichi is really nice) and that while the ending is fitting and not a downer could be better. Overall I give a 9/10 and rate it so far as a franchise without a weak entry.

Its easier compared to other Yakuzas. And the story didnt catch me all that much (Im still talking about Yakuza level story). So that is 10 -1 for dificulty and -1 for not that dark story = 8. Still great game to play.

I've been waiting for this game since it was released on December 8, 2016 in Japan. After more than a year and a half, Yakuza 6 was finally released in Europe.

Great game overall, with a complex plot and amazing fighting mechanics. The new characters are very well designed as always. The game takes place in a new setting before going back to Kamurocho, everything looks very polished and the story keeps you on your toes.

This is what Yakuza should have always been!
    -Responsive realistic fighting!
    -First person adventure mode!
    -Well written story!
-Minigames worth their own full games!

This has left a 20 year Yakuza veteran lusting for more!

Personally the combat for me is just ok. It has good elements but it gets pretty formular after you upgrade all the abilities.
The plot though might not be for anyone cuz it is kinda divided into 2 parts one being some yakuza schemes, and the other being kyriu trying to find haruka. Because the of way they bind together it s not that good i think some might not like that and get frustrated. But4if you care to listen to a good story then you might not mind the whole yaluza/mafia plot being a little hard to catch on to. But the ending though it s one of the most emotional of all time
9.2/10 but because of how the ending concluded kyriu saga i will give it a 10

Yakuza 6 is the final game in the Kiryu Kazuma saga and boy does it not feel like one AT ALL. Yakuza is known for its wide array of memorable characters such as Majima, Daigo, Date, Akiyama and Haruka, and boy it uses like none of them at all. Majima and Daigo are absent for the vast majority of the game only showing up twice at the start and end, Haruka is unconscious until the final few chapters, and while Date and Akiyama are present, they are disappointingly underutilised. Instead of wrapping up the stories of the already established cast, we get to spend most of the game developing brand new characters instead yaaaay... I miss Daigo. Our new cast is this small time Yakuza family in a small town Kiryu goes to... hang on, I'm sorry I got the scripts mixed up, this is for Yakuza 3 not 6... Oh... Yeah Y6 rehashes a lot from Y3, right down to the dumb skinny guy who calls Kiryu "Aniki" who has a fat friend and an old Patriarch, but to Y6's credit, it also gives you two extra friends, but it doesn't really matter because only Patriarch Hirose, Nagumo and Yuta are really fleshed out while the other two, who's names I do not remember, barely matter at all. New kids aside, the plot is... uh... boring as sin. It revolves around this big secret the main bad guys have been killing everybody to protect, even their closest friends, so what is it? What is this giant, massive, groundbreaking secret?! Spoiler alert, it's just a f*cking ship, it's a big Japanese battleship based on the Yamato battleship, I do not care, very underwhelming. The villains are similarly very boring, except Someya, I loved how he opposed Kiryu's very ideology of the Yakuza, even lacking a back tattoo, he also comes with one of the more interesting and engaging subplots, the ending of which, got me good. As for the rest, meh, there's a red guy you gotta beat up a few times, a purple guy who you gotta beat up a few times, an old guy you gotta beat up a few times, and his dad, nobody really stood out, a far cry from Nishiki, Ryuji and even Mine really. The moment to moment story telling, is pretty good however, when the plot really picks up, it's hard to get bored and Hiroshima, while pretty barren, has some great SubStories, particularly the one wrapping up the Pocket Circuit Fighters character and the Idol one were great, the Ghost fighting one, the weird Your Name one and the Cult from Y0 ones were also up there for me. While on the topic, Your Name was great, I recommend it, go watch it, I'll be here when you're done, go.

Y6 uses the Dragon Engine from Y0 so combat is pretty good, but the game likes to place you in giant horde fights which can get very disorientating, very fast. It can be hard to see what you're hitting, what enemy is hitting you, where you should be dodging, blocking or attacking, and it's generally not worth doing anything but defaulting to the Bike strategy. Sega also seems to think Fat People = Trained MMA Champion, because they will mess you up with drop kicks. Still most combat is generally fun and ragdolls will never not be hilarious to me.

I realize I've been almost nothing but negative here, yet I've given the game an 8, so what's the deal? I uh... I dunno really, the game is unmistakably flawed, it doesn't feel like a finale, and Kiryu has one of the most disappointing send off's ever... yet I don't regret my time with this game at all, I like this game a lot but I couldn't tell you why, maybe it's the ending scene with Haruka and the other characters, maybe it's the Hirose Family, maybe it's that one scene where Kiryu gives a thumbs up during Today is A Diamond, something about it, is just... great.

Oh f*ck I completely forgot to mention Haruto

Yakuza 6's intimate story, combined with a cinematic presentation, pays tribute to Japanese gangster movies while the overhaul of the combat and RPG systems leads to the hero's organic development.
