    If you are looking just to wrestle, I'm not sure it's worth the price. Most people seem to want a better universe mode and the match rating just rewards you for wrestling longer and using all your moves. Even the tacky story mode isn't that good. I get the moves are locked, but the cost of them all is a bit much.

I urge others to follow suit and not buy the next game, so that they can learn from their mistakes, and get all glitches fixed.

    The glitches are always happening in important parts of the game. Example, I spent almost 20 minutes playing a ladder match, and then the game glitches when I'm on top of the ladder, and I cannot move my character, and had to restart. Also major glitch in the royal rumble, almost through the match, and then no one enters, and I couldn't even pause the game, had to close it fully and go back on it again. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!! If anything happens to my console because of these glitches, they will be held liable.

    Also, the gameplay is quite agonising when you cannot reverse the opponents moves, and they get a few hits in and finish the match.    … Expand

    One step forward, two steps back. Voice acting and showcase a plus but the gameplay just keeps getting worse. When the core part of your game sucks the overall game will suck and that's exactly what is happening. It is so buggy and glitchy it's not even funny, not to mention the difficulty of countering moves off the ground and also what's with the ridiculous debuffing this year????     I want to give this a lower score, because it doesn't take nearly as many steps forward with the formula as it should given its upgrade in budget, but what actually is done with the formula highlights it as the very thing that post-2K15 WWE 2K could - and should - have been years ago. One major core gripe I do have is that the difficulty does feel incredibly toned down in comparison to past entries, although part of that has to do with the fact that AI opponents don't mash out counters nearly as often as they used to, and that counter regeneration has been buffed significantly, so you can counter far more often, and AIs counter marginally less often

    Early on, the RPG-styled MyPlayer progression system seems very promising, but potentially very grindy, very clearly wanting to make sure it feels like the 20 bonus points from the Deluxe Edition carry more weight than they did in a straightforward attribute system, as this time around, min-maxing one of the three branches (attack, body, and defense) gets you through one entire tier after your first career match with the added KickStart bonus. As for the career mode, the addition of voice acting and complex character animations do add layers to the story mode, but the story itself feels like a less successful attempt at the narrative-heavy story modes of games like Madden 18/19 and NBA 2K16, and it feels more like the latter than the former, warts and all. But for better or worse, it's also the most feature-complete WWE story mode in many years, by far.

    Now, might as well get to the positives. Firstly, I know it may be a hollow praise, but the visuals are VASTLY improved from previous iterations, and the character models look fantastic, although the character creator models still don't have quite the same polish. 2K's attempt at NetherRealm-esque living towers is also more hit than miss and gives a very arcade feel to things. WWE Universe is generally unchanged from 2K18, but there is more customkzation with the match potential of auto-generated matches: it still gives you the option to change up show matches on the fly, but if you like being surprised from show to show, it lets you customize what matches can actually show up on the match card, and with what frequency. Also, yes, this does extend to rivalry matches, which can make for even more interesting variation.

    Overall, WWE 2K19 doesn't evolve everywhere it needs to evolve, but it also evolves more than any WWE 2K before it    … Expand

    I am beginning to believe that no matter what 2K does, they will be overly critical of WWE wrestling games. Now this game is far from perfect but if you have played this franchise for years, you will notice the number of strides it has made. The main improvement is the gameplay. Its just so much more fast paced and fluid. It is now a fun game on top of being more simulation. I'm so glad that Showcase returned, MyCareer got some well-needed improvements and universe mode is finally worth playing. I haven't tried towers mode yet, but I presume it's gonna be great. My only issue is playing online. There is very noticeable lag (mainly on PS4), but I don't plan on playingI've been playing WWE games since 2008 and honestly, this is one of the best that 2K has made.     I've played this after 3 days after buying it and I'm mentally drained and find it hard to launch the game from lack of motivation. No surprise critics are given it an overall mediocre score. Royal Rumble should be fun but its tedious and unfair, esp. on legend. Flair must submit Paige where Paige will use payback about 7 times to escape your submissions, which I eventually won after 25 mins eg 3 beat Undertaker in 5 mins by pin or submission no foreign weapons (DQ) but he was counted out and I progressed?. Payback benefits the AI more than it does you especially in Legend. Elimination Chamber use to be my favourite match type, but now its too stressful with Payback and even when I play without. Warning!!!!! This game is not improving enough to be an entertaining simulation, especially non-children and non-wrestling fanatics and gamers who don't have someone competitive on their level of skill to play with. After 3 weeks, had to trade it in. The franchise seems dead to me and don't think if I would buy another for a long while.… Expand

    I never thought I'd see the day 2k put effort into their WWE game. I have never been more happy to be wrong. This year they focused on the fun and the gamble paid off. The story mode is a meth heads wet dream and nobody can say they were expecting anything like it. Fully voice acted and interesting storylines make the story mode worth the play through. Showcase is back and focuses on the career of Daniel Bryan. This mode was incredibly missed by the fans and the 2k team did an incredible job of doing Bryan's character justice. Universe mode wasn't changed drastically but there were enough smaller improvements to fix issues from before. You can now hold up to 6 championships per show (including Money in the Bank briefcases). Also, you can control how the money in the bank holder cashes in. I am not skilled enough to use the creation suite myself but the creators like Defract (checkout his Tommaso Ciampa and NJPW show) make their creations look like part of the game and not just a cheap imitation. Also they threw in "Big Head" mode which is a bunch of laughs an entertainment to play with friends.

    The negatives aren't major but annoying enough to dock a point. The roster. There are a lot of legends missing out who were regulars in WWE games. There is no reason to not have Mick Foley in your game. And current NXT superstars Tommaso Ciampa and Nikki Cross are not in the game. This is incredibly frustrating as a fan. The DLC is stacked but it would be nice to not have to wait months to play as those characters. The limit on creation downloads is still in place. Not a fan of it and it seems to refill slower than previous games.

    Overall this is the best WWE game of this era. I strongly suggest picking it up and giving it a chance. You can tell the team worked hard on giving us the best experience possible this year and that complaints from years passed weren't ignored.    … Expand

Don't like how you really don't have any control over your characters moveset or entrance at the start. They give you a few but not enough.

    Hope to see a patch to improve the menus. The very white menu screens aren't nice to look at, and in the creation modes it's hard to tell what option you have selected.

Showcase mode is finally back as well, and focuses this time on the career of Daniel Bryan, filled with introductions by the man himself. Towers mode is an interested addition too and can really put your skills to the test.

    Although the game is not perfect (commentary still has its issues and there are still bugs that needs to be fixed), I think it is enough of an improvement to take notice of and makes things seem much more brighter for the WWE 2k series going forward.    … Expand

Universe Mode, while not incredibly different, is an upgrade for sure. Major downside is the Showcase Mode. It is literally impossible to beat this mode because the game gives AI free reversals and won't let you complete objectives. The game literally will turn you in the opposite direction of your opponent for no reason, give them a finisher, and you will lose every time. I'm not sure why this is a thing in the game but it is. So if you looked for ward to Showcase Mode, don't bother buying. Haven't touched Career or Online so can't speak for that. I'd love the game more if it wasn't rigged. First of all, the gameplay is much more smoother, have new mechanics that makes the difference, new animations...all of that makes the gameplay better and more fun. The game have new match types and new modes, like Towers. When i heard about Towers, i think: well, is something that we play one or two times, and then we don´t play anymore". Well, i was wrong. There is not a 2 or 3 Towers, there is much more than that and all are different, with rewards. And yes, we have a Showcase, with Daniel Bryan. Is amazing. But the best mode is without a doubt MyCareer. Yes, MyCareer sucked in other WWE games, but in this...well, is very, very good. Yes, it have voices, yes, it have a very good story, yes, is capable to surprising us. My friends, i love wrestling, i know what i am saying when i say this game is a very good one. If you love wrestling, or WWE, this game is for you. No, is not 10/10. The game have some bugs, the series need a new engine, the faces of wrestlers needs a upgrade, there is not a GM Mode again and is necessary something really new that amazing us even more. i give 10 just because is very unfair that the user review is now on 5.2/10, because the game is very good and don´t deserve that.     A move in the right direction for WWE 2K, my career is finally worth playing it even has a nice Road to Wrestlemania feeling and the game is more arcade like with some of the new features like big heads mode. pretty good!

    This game sucks, I always played the WWE games because of the Custom Wrestlers and the story/career mode and i havent played a good wwe game since wwe 2010. Since 2k acquired the game the character creation sucks, i don't some 8 or 10 options to choose for the body part rather i want the old style size sliders. I bought the game this morning and just got back from returning about half an hour ago, that shows how bad the game sucks for me.     Great game, with lots of possibilities. Before that, she did not play in one of the parts, and if you look at everything with a fresh look, then this is a worthy product in almost all aspects. Smooth colorful battles, which are accomplished with the help of a game manipulator.

    WWE 2K19 is WWE 2K18's bigger, badder and cooler cousin. I've been playing since Shut Your Mouth and I have to say I haven't had this much fun with a WWE game since SvR 2009

    Wwe2k19 is a perfect example that wwe doesn't really need a yearly game release, the game is already boring to play in just a couple of days, it's pretty much wwe2k18 with some minor tweaks and additions here and there. Game is still buggy as hell and some matches are still broken like the hell in the cell.

So when I finally got my copy of WWE 2K19 I was excited because I can play as wrestlers from the current WWE/NXT roster, but I was also worried that the controls would be something would keep me from enjoying the game. Thankfully I grew to really enjoy this game, even though there are some things keeping it from being great.

    In past WWE games there were story modes that either were original stories made by the developers or the story mode would be a simulation of past wrestling moments like the Attitude Era. This time around the game's story mode revolves around current WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan. The story mode shows a lot of moments of his career like one of his first matches in WWE, when he went by the name Bryan Danielson. To his big main event matches with John Cena at Summerslam for the WWE Championship and the Triple Threat Match between him, Randy Orton, and Batista at Wrestlemania 30. I really got into this story mode mainly because I am a fan of Daniel Bryan, plus it was really cool to see all of his big matches replicated in video game form and a lot of the scripted moments during those matches were great. It felt like I was really rewatching the matches it was simulating. I really don't have an issue with the story format 2K is taking with these games but, the story mode was pretty short. I think it would have been better if there were 2 more wrestlers getting to same treatment. Someone that comes to mind is the coverboy himself AJ Styles could have gotten the same treatment.

    As for the gameplay which was my biggest concern walking into this game, is pretty much a more technical game, but it still is pretty easy to get into if you have played some of the WWE Smackdown vs Raw games. The only added feature is the payback abilities which is something you can trigger during a match, that can either give you a finisher stock or if there is a moment you know it will be hard to break a pin or submission you can use the resiliency ability and you automatically kick out of a pin/submission. There are a lot of abilities in this game and each superstar has something that fits their character. The way you can use payback abilities is by filling up a bar which can only be filled if you are fighting. And when the time is right payback abilities can help save you in a lot of situations.

    Other added features to this game include match types like 5 Man Match types, more match types for 6 Man matches, and now 8 Man matches. Looking at 8 Man matches specifically, it ran pretty well, I didn’t feel like the game was running slow because of all the wrestlers on the screen at the same time. There were a lot of times when the game would glitch in during matches like the Elimination Chamber where sometimes characters would stretch as if they were Mr. Fantastic or one of Bailey’s wacky waving inflatable tube man and while it was funny to see sometimes it did happen a couple of times and I hope things like that get patched.

    Overall WWE 2K19 was a game I really enjoyed playing and I’m glad I don't need to rely on past wrestling games as my only way to play wrestling games. I wanted to play a really good wrestling game with wrestlers that I watch on TV or with the help of WWE Creation in 2K19, people can make wrestlers from other companies like New Japan, TNA, ROH, ect and later upload the characters they made online and people can download them so they can be added to their games. And a lot of the created wrestlers people have made are fantastic and could have easily have passed as playable from the get go. WWE 2K19 is a really good time and while there are some improvements that can be made to it like adding more stories to go through, it was great to play a solid wrestling game.    … Expand

    With a sixth game in series from the same creator, one would expect leaps and bounds of improvements during the course of several years. Sadly, we are still waiting for a great wrestling game to hit our gaming systems. WWE 2K19 offers a lot of things, but most of them are just old stuff with minor improvements or returning additions due to fans outcry.
