I want to give this a lower score, because it doesn't take nearly as many steps forward with the formula as it should given its upgrade in budget, but what actually is done with the formula highlights it as the very thing that post-2K15 WWE 2K could - and should - have been years ago. One major core gripe I do have is that the difficulty does feel incredibly toned down in comparison to past entries, although part of that has to do with the fact that AI opponents don't mash out counters nearly as often as they used to, and that counter regeneration has been buffed significantly, so you can counter far more often, and AIs counter marginally less often

Early on, the RPG-styled MyPlayer progression system seems very promising, but potentially very grindy, very clearly wanting to make sure it feels like the 20 bonus points from the Deluxe Edition carry more weight than they did in a straightforward attribute system, as this time around, min-maxing one of the three branches (attack, body, and defense) gets you through one entire tier after your first career match with the added KickStart bonus. As for the career mode, the addition of voice acting and complex character animations do add layers to the story mode, but the story itself feels like a less successful attempt at the narrative-heavy story modes of games like Madden 18/19 and NBA 2K16, and it feels more like the latter than the former, warts and all. But for better or worse, it's also the most feature-complete WWE story mode in many years, by far.

Now, might as well get to the positives. Firstly, I know it may be a hollow praise, but the visuals are VASTLY improved from previous iterations, and the character models look fantastic, although the character creator models still don't have quite the same polish. 2K's attempt at NetherRealm-esque living towers is also more hit than miss and gives a very arcade feel to things. WWE Universe is generally unchanged from 2K18, but there is more customkzation with the match potential of auto-generated matches: it still gives you the option to change up show matches on the fly, but if you like being surprised from show to show, it lets you customize what matches can actually show up on the match card, and with what frequency. Also, yes, this does extend to rivalry matches, which can make for even more interesting variation.

Overall, WWE 2K19 doesn't evolve everywhere it needs to evolve, but it also evolves more than any WWE 2K before it

This is definitely a step up from past WWE games. Gameplay is alot smoother, roster is huge, and amazing. (aside from a few misses). There is alot of attention to detail in this game, and graphics improved as well.

Happy to see the new and improved career mode. While I've only played a little it doesn't seem like it's that boring NXT match after NXT match to hopefully make it to the main roster. Every match and interaction with other superstars seem to serve a purpose. There are some cheesy moments during it but it's still good. Don't like how you really don't have any control over your characters moveset or entrance at the start. They give you a few but not enough.

Hope to see a patch to improve the menus. The very white menu screens aren't nice to look at, and in the creation modes it's hard to tell what option you have selected.

It's worth the pick up. If your not a hardcore WWE fan then wait until the Black Friday sales.

Wwe2k19 is a perfect example that wwe doesn't really need a yearly game release, the game is already boring to play in just a couple of days, it's pretty much wwe2k18 with some minor tweaks and additions here and there. Game is still buggy as hell and some matches are still broken like the hell in the cell.

Difficulty in a custom character campaign is ridiculous sometimes and the plot is boring. No way of importing music for entrance and lack of create custom finisher option still hurts, but at least other tools for custom creations are well done.

Though there is a lot of improvements here, the AI is still silly. That's all I can say... They reverse literally everything possible making this game not being fun at all. You barely get an advantage and as soon as you do, they will instantly reverse you. They really need to balance the AI in this game out.

The game succeeds in making you want to come back for more. Unfortunately, there is not much more to come back to. The MyCareer mode was my most anticipated mode, as it is each year. The MyCareer mode was my most anticipated mode, as it is each year. They took one step forward and two steps backward. The storyline was fun but rather short. The Epilogue is utterly disappointing. Just a series of random matches is not how I want to continue MyCareer. MyCareer should be a Career not a few months. Not saying I need it to be ten years long but allowing fueds, create tag teams/stables and retire should be apart of it. Like NBA 2K, if you meet the criteria, you make the Hall. The are hundreds of cutscenes in the game already, their is not reason they can't be used for MyCareer. To add insult to injury, mindless grinding for hours and hours and capping at 91 is ridiculous. The Prestige Levels are cool but the gear is not sufficient reward. I really enjoyed previous editions where you could inport a friend's CAS and the ability to export your own CAS for play in other modes. I recommend XP or VC should be used for attributes and style points be used for moves and attire. I look forward to next year's game and hope it brings more to this mode. Also, give us a WOMEN story mode! Expand

Overall I do really like this game, but the lack of depth in Universe Mode and the inconsistency in quality of player models keeps me from rating the game higher. Though I do agree that this is one of the best, if not THE best entry the series has ever seen, 2K has a lot of work to do with regards to adding depth to the game to give it a higher replay factor.

Bought it recently after the last one I played was WWE2k16 I guess. I really hated the submission mechanics and the poor graphics. I guess that is it for me with this series. Sad if I rethink my amazing times with the 2009 game.

Game play is pretty good. Universe mode sucks. My carrer is good. Showcase is alright. AND....
That's about it. Tbh pretty good. Not close to the older WWE games. But still not bad

It is not an indispensable addition to any wresting fan’s library, but it does give hope that next year we will get not just an adequate game, not even a good one, but one truly great. [13/2018, p.47]

With a sixth game in series from the same creator, one would expect leaps and bounds of improvements during the course of several years. Sadly, we are still waiting for a great wrestling game to hit our gaming systems. WWE 2K19 offers a lot of things, but most of them are just old stuff with minor improvements or returning additions due to fans outcry.

Even though there's a plethora of wrestlers, modes and features, WWE still utilizes a stiff control scheme that it’s just not working for us.
