I have never written a review of a game before, but I can honestly say that this game disgusts me on so many levels and the developers should be ashamed of themselves. To their credit, they have made an effort to improve the game play. The matches are smoother and the AI is okay. So the question is why is this game unplayable? The most obvious reason is the submission system. To their credit, they have made an effort to improve the game play. The matches are smoother and the AI is okay. So the question is why is this game unplayable? The most obvious reason is the submission system. It should be easy to escape a headlock when your head is not damaged. Unfortunately, the submission system is virtually impossible. I though I could bypass this issue, but turning off submissions isn't even possible. It is honestly game breaking. I don't want to sit through load screens for a twenty second match where I am submitted by a headlock because the submission system is terrible.

Furthermore, the Universe mode constantly adds matches for no apparent reason. I do not understand how such an oversight can make it into a game. There are some new cut scenes, but there certainly are not enough to justify canceling the showcase mode. Personally, I did not care for the showcase mode. However, if they intended to remove an entire mode, they could have at least made significant improvements to the universe mode. They did include a promo engine which doesn't actually seem to affect anything. There is no consequence for winning or losing promos, so why should a game even bother to play them.

There is also a bug that wipes out data if the game goes into sleep mode on main menu screen. It is absurd that on day one, you are asked to download an 11 gigabyte patch and this issue isn't even addressed.

The truth is that I really want to enjoy this game. It seems like it has a lot of features that are worthwhile. Unfortunately, it seems like it wasn't even tested by the developers. If it was play tested, then they should be ashamed to have released such a horrible mess. Anyone who rated this game anything about a 5 must be completely delusional. I want to really enjoy wrestling games, but it seems like this company is happy releasing a bug ridden piece of garbage because they know they have a loyal fan base. It pains me to say it, but this game makes Madden 17 look like a total masterpiece.

    Hope this helps!

The game is terrible, really terrible, wrestler always start off the match by grabbing their opponent and execute a big move, that's not the way to go because wrestler still got plenty of energy. That's only 2 things they can do once the match start, either lockup or strike, or at most, duck behind waist lock, takedown, single leg takedown or push to the corner and nothing else. Very very little fist fight, they seem to do running strike and grab throughout the entire match and nothing else, always irish whip over the top rope, irish whip halfway reture or irish whip opponent over the top rope and land on the apron like a spaceman in the royal rumble, eliminate opponent by grabbing the face and move back and forth repeatedly until the opponent is eliminate in the royal rumble, I mean, what kind of wrestling moves in this?? standing there dizzy for 30, auto roll out of the way after being stomp, referee no respond for relentless beat down end up messing the fighting and wrestling engine and look like a clown circus, I didn't play the game but I think the submission system is poor too. A very mixed bag with a lot of old mistakes thrown in. Some new features (taunts, promos) but the character creation is still limited and there are a ton of glitches as of 1.01's patch.
Worse still, they didn't learn from the harsh criticism in 2K16's submission, and the current system is back to being sluggish and unmanageable. Add on a nearly-psychic AI that instantly reacts to changes

Add on a nearly-psychic AI that instantly reacts to changes in either submission system (there's last year's wheel and a mash-the-right-button alternate), and scoring a submission is nearly impossible.

A decent (but dated) at best wrestling simulation at it's core plagued by a completely unacceptable and borderline insulting amount of bugs and glitches, most of which still haven't been fixed after four patches, which have in turn actually brought about more, new issues.

Shouldn't have even made it to the shelves. A horrible case of the consumer being taken for a ride, paying top whack

I recommend you to read this review. This review is trying to point out what things 2k can do to make it's new WWE game, a giant masterpiece.

Generally this game has 4 pros. and 6 cons. those four great points are: 1. customization is on a great level. 2. all of the wrestlers' entrances are beautyfully made. 3. multiplayer matches have become better with the new roll out feature. 4.
I recommend you to read this review. This review is trying to point out what things 2k can do to make it's new WWE game, a giant masterpiece.

Generally this game has 4 pros. and 6 cons. those four great points are:
    1. customization is on a great level.
    2. all of the wrestlers' entrances are beautyfully made.
    3. multiplayer matches have become better with the new roll out feature.
    4. beautiful animations and scenes especially for the superstars.

now the 6 horrible things which can make this game be the Greatest WWE game ever made in the history of WWE games if resolved.

    1. Difficulty:
one of the most challenging things was to beat the Legend difficulty in Smackdown vs. Raw 2006.!
but now, the most ridiculous AI is on the Legend difficulty. and it's goalless actions in this mode can make "My Career Mode", "Universe" and regular matches boring.
In this difficulty even if you increase the A.I Reversal Rate, you can easily select Tyson Kidd and destroy the Undertaker or even pin him.
Imagine that you can feel all the stress when you face the Triple H, or you are doing your best to stand against Brock Lesnar so that you do not lose the match.
even if implementing these are not easy, perhaps adding a new Difficulty can be handy.

    2. Starting Strategy:
there have been 4 options with which you could've start the game. one of them is the No Action mode.
but in this series it's as if the game commences with No Action mode and there are no strategies when you begin the match.

    3. Pinfall Mini Game:
the pins in the game need to change essentially, after some time you can escape all the pins easily.
I myself, have escaped 7 times from Undertaker's Tombstone after one second, and I was playing as Kalisto.
the pin system is ridiculously designed and it is far from natural is very artificial. this can make a regular match not only a boring one, but can make it take 30 minutes to finish.

    4. Stamina System:
refilling the stamina was a smart move in WWE 2k15, but it doesn't work properly. you can simply do nothing and refill your stamina.
It would have been better if you could just hold a button to refill the stamina.

    5. Grapple System:
one of the worst and tiresome parts of the game is the grappling system. In spite of having good animation scenes, no tactics can be found there and there is no joy in it.
and you cannot feel that you performed them professionally. SVR 2006 and 2007 did better in this area.

    6. Reversals:
In my opinion there should be one button for the Strike Reversal and another button for the Grapple Reversal, because even with the Reversal slot it is still easy to escape most grappling moves and impossible to perform some.

I have played all the WWE series from "SVR Here comes the pain" to WWE 2k17. and I think that the most successful one was SVR 2006.
I really don't know why they do not learn anything from it's success.

This was my review about the game, and a big tip to 2k that can make their game more exciting and beautiful by considering 6 aforementioned remarks about the gameplay.

    Thank You.

While the promos, commentary, and female wrestler treatment could use more fine-tuning, the rest of the game does a wonderful job of delivering an experience that’s just a bit more impressive than last year’s entry. For now, all we can keep hoping for in each new game is increased accuracy, larger rosters, better treatment of female wrestlers, and fresher color commentary.

WWE 2K17 deserves the same verdict as its predecessors: it's better than before, but still far from "perfect" or even just "good".

This year’s WWE left me with mixed feeling. At its core it’s still a decent game and minor changes went in the right direction, but lack of Showcase mode and wasted potential of addressing the crowd held me back from being really excited. [13/2016, p.64]
