CFK has done a great job remaking the classic arcade faithfully. From the music to the enemies, retro fans will definitely appreciate the work that has gone into replicating and upgrading this classic. This is not a straight port of the arcade, this is a remake. That said, the slight changes are an improvement. The bosses are better, the unlocks of playing as Tina and the original retro-style Wonder Boy, and allowing the player to adjust the difficulty are all welcomed. I would have liked to see a high score board like the arcade but at least there is an overall high score. There is no online leaderboards, so competitive players will have to praise themselves offline. Overall, I would recommend this game to the classic arcade players. Millennials may find the game monotonous. Expand

There's nothing of value in Wonder Boy Returns. It's the weakest platformer I've played for years, and were it a free Flash game, as it so closely resembles, I still wouldn't recommend it.

Wonder Boy Returns is a noble effort at modernizing a retro 2D action gem. Although it's not quite as immediately gratifying as the original due to its awkward controls, you'll still be in for an enjoyable adventure that may just put a smile on your face.
