    This is pathetic SJ pandering. It's barely a Wolfenstein game and rather a looter shooter wannabe. I would not recommend it at all. I spent 8 hours in the game, and I'm done. I just wished I didn't buy the digital version because I would have sold the disk within minutes.

    The gameplay is bad enough, but I couldn't stand any of the characters. Especially the two sisters because the cringe is worse than anything I've ever experienced. I have a brother and a sister, and playing wolfen-cringe was too much for me. The only explanation is that both sisters are brain damaged from when their mom was six months pregnant fighting on the front lines.

    I waited very long for this game but I was just utterly disappointed.
    The level design does not work at all for a Wolfenstein game, I'm sick of going to the same places over and over again just to do the same objectives all the time, everything is so repetitive.
    What a total let-down this game is! Also, there is not a lot of content here, there are basically just the three towers and    I waited very long for this game but I was just utterly disappointed.

    Also, there is not a lot of content here, there are basically just the three towers and the final mission. Now that I've done all the missions there is nothing to do except explore and search for collectibles but I don't want the focus to be on exploration in this kind of game but rather on action-oriented gameplay. Arkane studios should never have been a part of this project at all!
    The story is also too shallow for a single-player campaign.
    I don't care if you're a die-hard Wolfenstein fan, my advice is to skip this really crappy game.
    Luckily, I own the physical copy of the game and I will sell it right away.

    The weakest of the franchise. I would speculate that the script writers lack experience of normative social interactions to reference. Simply, a disappointment. Shame.

    What happened in development? Ai works absolutely awful, i sometimes sat there saying to myself, ''wish i could just play without it''. It always dies/knocked down, when theres a lever or button thats requires you both to do it, the AI is will take its time doing it, wheres the story? its nowhere to be found, it doesnt innovate enough, it feels like every other game but set in paris, theWhat happened in development? It always dies/knocked down, when theres a lever or button thats requires you both to do it, the AI is will take its time doing it, wheres the story? its nowhere to be found, it doesnt innovate enough, it feels like every other game but set in paris, the checkpoints are godawful, (SPOILERS) i was on the lab X part of the game, got into the lab, was about 30 minutes of gameplay into it, died (because of the overkill amount of enemies, i'll get to that point later) and it set me about 45 minutes of gameplay back because of the horrible checkpoints, now into the enemies, i play on the normal level of difficultly, and theres way too many enemies, theres no need for one street block to have 30 enemies, also every part is riddled with these giant robots that are overpowered, that do a billion damage per hit, it would be 5 percent better if soph or jess (whoever you dont play as) didnt die every 10 seconds, i really wouldnt play this if i was you, i deleted the game off of my playstation, i dont even need the space, the game just sucks, hope i can return it… Expand

    I have just beaten the game and found it thoroughly entertaining. This has gotten me into trying out the rest of the new franchise games. The characters were both good. Cheesy, eighties and fun. The co-op mechanic was great, it rarely let me down on single player. The story was a little short but reflected in the price. Paid 20€ for it on the ps store and got completely robbed ! the story is 2h long with a friend, the mission are terribly repetitive, there is no point in stealthing, the sisters are cringe as hell "hell yeah dude" and also boring as hell i should've listen to metacritic

    Wolfengrind Young Cringe! Im angry at myself that I paid for this! Its cringe fest, characters are cretins, boring repetitive game play, you play same maps over and over and over again, with enemies that can take millions of bullets!

I have played just about every first person shooter out there this game is at least a 7. co-op check ...double jump check ...killing nazis check.... grab a nazis gun and shoot him in the face check.... grabbing ledges check ...progression balance check. peak out of cover check.... it might not have the epic bj story line but as far as gamehow in the world is this game at 2.6 on here????     -almost impossible to do stealth Missions due to your Team Mate, or the Enemies X-Ray Eyes...

    + the only good thing may be the Cutscenes.

    My biggest complaint amongst many is how much of a downgrade the new characters are, not just the twins. I don't know how old the sisters are but the way they talk seems to me like middle school girls, not people who were trained as Terror-Billy''s kids. not super important but something that for some reason bothered me is the blond sister's laugh is awful it sounds like they replaced the voice actor with Patrick from Spongebob. finally, the time jump thing is **** they should have made this the 5th game instead of the fourth and make a game of us killing Hitler not just saying oh by the way our dad killed Hitler. it didn't bother me at all before but when I heard them say that not even in a cutscene but just them doing their annoying talks with each other. by making the fourth game about TB killing Hitler it would have been a smoother transition to this game.… Expand

    Its not as bad as people say it is a fun game to play with friends might not be as good as the new order of New colossus but its a fun game. Also you can make the shotgun a assault rifle.

    Awful. It's not for Wolfenstein fans, it's cheap, pretty much no story, worst characters I ever seen, stupid jokes, awful "RPG elements" with enemies level, backtracking to make game seem bigger. Ughh... Bethesda was one of my favorite publishers, but after the last few games, I'm starting to really hate them.

    Gameplay is awful and unbalanced! The story is absolutely low quality that you will be rolling your eyes at the cringe that can only be appealing for the far left (and we all know those people don't buy anything). It feels rushed and a microtransaction rigged cash grab. Avoid at all cost.

    I wish I could get my money back. This is the worst game I have played in years. No pause. Terrible partner AI in solo gameplay ... but the AI is required to make progress. Then if you die, way back to the beginning of the episode.

    The weapons are weak, the enemies either very weak or way too strong at any given time.

    Its like they tried to turn Wolfenstein into a grindy looter shooter with microtransactions it. These Anthem-style looter shooters are ruining gaming for everyone.

    The characters you play as are not good either - I dont care that they are women - I love tomb raider and I loved senuas sacrifice too. But these characters are flat, boring and cringy. The main character models in this game don't even look good (no, not like the women are ugly - the models are poorly made). Everything about this game feels bellow average quality. Gun play is still good but completely destroyed by the endless grinding.

    Oh and also, you cant pause the game - even if your playing by yourself. I got stuck on one of the first levels in this game cause obviously I need to grind in the side missions to progress. I just refuse to put up with that. This RPG, grindy, bullet sponge gameplay has no place in a Wolfenstein game.

    Stay away from this game, even if your a hardcore Wolfenstein fan like me    … Expand

    Awful characters.. Don't care for the fact they're women, loads of great women protagonists in games - Horizon: Zero Dawn, Tomb Raider, FF series etc. Those games had characters, this game has garbage. Tedious gameplay. Microtransactions should not exist in full priced games. Aside from okayish graphics and nazi killing this game has nothing to offer. Sad.

    This game is pretty average. However, if the developers want a better score than this they can buy 1 score point for only 50 dollars! If they buy the 10 score point bundle, they can buy it for the reduced price of only 499 dollars!

    The enemy AI is dumb as hell and that is a major no-no. The sister that helps is somehow not on point with whats happening and feels pretty unnatural roaming around you just doin nothing.
    The simple first person story driven shooter is transformed into a semi RPG with so many unnecessary gun modifications and no story at all...
    Its not what I expected and the SJW Cringe is not helping at all to make me like it even a bit.
    Sorry Machinegames, focus on the next major WS and try to do better pleasing the fans of the series and the new gamers that will jump on the old ones cuz of the new one. Pleasing the feminists is not helping your case in the game industry :    … Expand

    Game is good but not great. Split screen is really missing in Co-Op game for two people. I bought it because I wanted to play locally like Call of Duty or Borderlands. This game is ment for two people and your only option is internet connection. That's sad. 3/10 ( with split screen it should be like 7/10 because it can add a lot of fun )

This game does the bare minimum to engage and entertain whilst putting the maximum amount of effort into frustrating you and they still have the bloody nerve to charge you ridiculous amounts of money for these crappy low effort skins. The games boss fights are completely broken, along with the brain dead AI that's supposed to be assisting you and will often glitch and let you die right in front of her instead of reviving you. Gameplay in general is an absolute chore to say the least as every enemy you encounter has specific armour types that can only be effectively damaged with specific weapons and ammo types which means you would have to CONSTANTLY keep switching weapons almost everytime you encounter a foe and it is so frustrating. Oh yeah and if an enemy AI is just 1 or 2 levels above you you WILL die instantly and sometimes these higher level enemies cant always be avoided as you will need to skirt one area to get to another.     First, it's still the good Wolfenstein, shooting is still fun here. Yes, it can be painfully difficult but in case of trouble, you can just lower the difficulty (I did my first run on "Easy").
    Then, the setting is still really interesting, there a lot of nice details showing how a hypothetical Paris could look like under the Nazi regime in 80s.

    It's not as good as the New Order or the New Colossus but if you liked the prequels, this one could still fit you. And, it comes at half price.    … Expand

    I loved the Wolfenstein: Youngblood. It has some light rpg elements, superpowers, and very well designed levels what make silent approach possible. It's like a Dishonored with a nazi world, with really breathtaking visuals.
    The game is very-very hard if your level below the suggested levels, but it can be explained with that the protagonists are 19 years old girls.

It has a basic, level up system which provides enough reason to do the limited side missions. The co-op features, such are the 'peps', are a welcome encouragement to play with someone else. The weakest part of the game is the co-op mode. Artificial intelligence does stupid things all the time, Terrible networking. This is a real achievement if your friend joins the game. However I felt the story was a nice change and kinda cleared some things up timeline wise. But they don’t bring up Wyatt and Ferguson which I feel makes sense but kinda makes me upset at the same time. They were important and yet they aren’t mentioned. Either way I feel like it’s gettjng a bad rep just because some things were wrong. The graphics weren’t the best and the game wasn’t very long. It’s also somewhat repetitive. However the story is good. The plot twist is kinda neat and seeing a few characters you know return and be mentioned is a nice touch. It leaves the player wanting more and sequel baits in a good way. It leaves it up to imagination of what’s to come. The final boss fight is one of my favorites of the series and it uses the multiplayer feature. However this does get annoying if you don’t wanna play online. Speaking of the multiplayer its somewhat broken. I was playing while hosting a game and I was level 32 or something and I was far into the story. Far enough for major spoilers. And then out of the blue a level two joined me. I felt so bad that the story would’ve been spoiled that I made an excuse to leave then hopped back on. If they had balanced it out more like you could only join people around the same level as you I think it would be better. Alright this next topic is more of my own opinion so if you don’t agree go ahead but I feel like if a game is gonna let you play after you’ve beaten it, it should reward you. This game does not do that. All you earn is more sidequests. Glitches. There are glitches. Pretty game breaking ones too. I feel if they patched up the game and made the graphics better and got rid of the glitches this review would be a 9. But the game developers can’t get rid of every glitch.     Semi-OpenWorld. Why? I could leave it at that, but I won’t. The previous two used a linear progression and had a small hub in between certain stages. This game used a more OpenWorld environment which took away from the feel of the previous games. On the topic of environment, the location and time setting just didn’t fit, yeah it follows on into the future, but it lost its rustic old-fashioned war themed design, which is what the others sold me on.

    Another wobbly part of this already uneasy foundation was the two main protagonists. Not only was there two, but they felt bland uninteresting and overall fell flat right out of the gate. Yeah, the elevator cutscenes gave us a peek in to the sisterly bond, but they were few and far apart, and once you’d watched them all you just didn’t really care.

    Overall the game sticks to the Nazi shooter you would expect from a game titled Wolfenstein. However, the twin protagonists, the location and time as well as the gruelling level grind pitched this one at the post. I wanted to enjoy this, but the flair and magic of the previous titles was gone and I don’t think it was there to begin with. A solid attempt at mixing up the formula, but it just doesn’t work without faults. Somethings are best left where they are (1940’s good old-fashioned war) and how they are (Linear with a badass protagonist (singular not plural)).    … Expand

After 13.5 hours I can say that this game failed to make an impact for me; doesn’t add to the story / lore. If you don’t play this game on release, you're not missing out on much.     The gameplay is horrid. Every enemy is such a bullet sponge it's impossible to play on anything but easy, and even then you get zero exciteent out of it. You are encouraged to invest in garbage micro transactions. All the coop interactions are exhausted at endless doors that can only be opened together. The main campaign is short but the developers try to s**t out hours of content by shoehorning in copy-pasted "side missions" where you kill the same spongy enemies over again.

    The story is even worse than gameplay - instead of the charismatic Blaskowitz you play as his two mentally slow daughters who constantly crack cringeworthy terrible jokes and act as Beavis and Butthead. Each of their lines will make your ears bleed, but the elevator bits take the cake for the most awful embarassing cutscenes I have ever seen. The amount of feminist SJW crap, that already started to leak in WF2, is overwhelming here. The game skips around 20 years from New Colossus, which doesn't make any sense, and even worse, they kill Hitler off-screen. The final "twist" when you finally find Blaskowitz is as stupid as everything that comes before it, and by the point you make it there you just wish the campaign would finally end.

    It is appalling how Bethesda had two such great studios at their disposal - Machine Games and Arkane - which excelled at creating very different games, and forced them to work together to create this (Wolfen)Frankenstein monster of a game which is infinitely worse than any of their previous projects. I WAS excited when I heard about Wolfenstein: Youngblood - the operative word being 'was'. Then, after nearly 24 hours of game time, I sat back, shook my head and said to myself: "What went wrong?"

    The overall setup for Youngblood was interesting - the 19 year old twin daughters of good ol' BJB (who were born near the end of Wolfenstein II: TNC) go on a mission to find their father. Except neither of them has experienced true combat and must come to terms with the realities of violence. Unfortunately, after the opening hours, the writing takes a downward turn in terms of story, dialogue and character development. What's even worse is the overall length of the actual campaign - there are only SIX main story missions - a prologue, four middle chapters, and the finale. This is THE SHORTEST CAMPAIGN I'VE EVER PLAYED - it's even shorter than Rage 2. Besides the prologue and the finale, nothing of substance happens in the middle part of the game - you simply infiltrate four high security fortresses, shoot OR stealth ALOT of bad guys, complete some objectives, fight a boss, AND THAT'S IT. On top of this, the plot developments are extremely disappointing and the final boss fight is infuriatingly frustrating.

    What further compounds these issues are the game's RPG gameplay mechanics. For one thing, Youngblood DID NOT need to be a co-op shooter. The shared lives system is archaic and just simply THE WORST - if you or your partner kick the bucket three times, you have to replay your current mission FROM THE START. Also, the game has no checkpoints, so if you quit during the middle of a mission, you have to (you guessed it!) replay the mission FROM THE START. Even if you play in offline mode, you still face these issues.

    Then if you factor in the game's version of being an RPG shooter, you're in for another world of pain. While earning XP and collecting money and collectibles is fun, Youngblood's nature as a role-playing game transforms Wolfenstein's combat from fast and brutal to just simply brutal - as in, you will find it painfully brutal. The adaptive levelling system turns most (if not all) enemies into bullet sponges and some into one-shot wonders who will destroy you in a single hit, turning most firefights into frustrating gauntlets that would rival the games made by FromSoftware.

    AHA! But wait! There's more! What makes this even worse is that enemies have two different types of armour that correspond to the two different ammo types in the game - meaning that if you want to deal sufficient damage to the enemies in your path, you have to swap weapons frequently if there are more than one type of enemy. If you use the wrong ammo type against the opposite type of armour, the damage you deal will be NEGLIGIBLE, subsequently evolving enemies into even greater bullet sponges. And this will happen ALOT, especially when you run out of ammo for the weapon that you NEED and especially when considering the fact that the game's arsenal favours one particular ammo type over the other which simply makes things downright unfair.

    Beyond the gunplay that the recent Wolfenstein games effectively patented (which Youngblood somehow managed to hamstring) Youngblood's offerings are dull and bland - side missions are basic fetch or kill quests and the world is uninteresting to explore (which makes doing the side missions difficult because many of them require you to re-tread previously explored areas). There are skill-points and weapon upgrades to acquire, but they do little to alleviate the game's previously mentioned issues.

    What really ruined Youngblood for me was the WORST glitch I've ever encountered in a videogame. I had almost completed everything in the game and I was near the end of the last side mission. All I needed to do was to fast travel back to base and speak with the quest-giver. When I tried to leave the enemy base, my screen went black. This happened every time - regardless of which exit I chose to use. In my attempt to remedy this, I rebooted the game. It didn't work - I was effectively trapped in that zone, permanently unable to leave. After everything I had endured with Youngblood, the game wouldn't let me finish it.

    Wolfenstein: Youngblood is a dismal game that risks the reputation of the franchise by needlessly experimenting with elements that are simply counterintuitive to a gameplay formula that relies on speed and brevity. The end result is a game that doesn't work, isn't fun and is a blatant cash-grab because it reuses the assets from Wolfenstein II: TNC.    … Expand

    Totally disappointing so far. I dont normally pass comment on games before finishing them, but felt i had to with this buggy mess. Some of the enemies A.I. is lame, you can cheese some tougher enemies, which makes the game seem ridiculous and unfulfilling. Had a terrible bug, where an online player spawned, in my game as soph, the other side of a two player open door, attempted to try openTotally disappointing so far.     game full of crap. Not only that, having bought a deluxe version, my friend could not play with me, but they didn’t help me and he had to buy a full game, so what is all this for? In appearance the game looks like a mobile online shooter, wretched. From Wulfstein, it is one name. A bunch of bugs, you play for the blunt-minded juvenile heifers who create game. It took me two hours togame full of crap. Not only that, having bought a deluxe version, my friend could not play with me, but they didn’t help me and he had to buy a full game, so what is all this for?     I recently played this game alongside my brother. It was hella fun. I enjoyed combat very much. I don't know why it has so many bad reviews. Maybe it had problems at launch? I don't know for sure. But the game is not without its flaws. One of my main issues with it is the fact that there are only a handful of areas in the game. And you're always getting side quests to revisit them. It tends to get boring. You get a mission: go to brother 2 and do the thing then you do it and you go back to the hub area and there's a new side mission asking you to go to brother 2 again. I guess this was mainly done to increase the playtime of players. The skill sets are nice. I didn't use any of the power skill tree at all. Another issue I had with the game is that it tends to get boring. You're constantly going to the previously discovered areas and do uninteresting missions over and over again. By the time we reached the end, we were pretty done with the game. So overall it was a fun game. If you have a co op partner you're gonna have a lot of fun. I got into this game with a negative approach since I heard so many negative things about it but I don't think that's the case    … Expand

    Whether or not you enjoy Wolfenstein: Youngblood is going to depend on a lot of factors. If you loved the previous games for their narrative depth, linear story, and simplified gameplay, this might be a tough sell for you. Youngblood is still fundamentally Wolfenstein in almost every way that matters but, like its rookie heroines, it’s a little unpolished and rough around the edges. If you’re looking for something new, innovative, and daring, and can overlook a few flaws (some more glaring than others) then it’s time to suit up, gear up, and once again prove that the only good Nazi is a dead one.

    Even if you only want to do the main missions and enough side-content to level up sufficiently, you’ll get at least ten to 12 hours of play. What’s interesting is the endgame, providing daily and weekly challenges, and allowing you to replay missions for extra XP. Solo this will become tiring, but with a friend? Any excuse to kill Nazis is a good excuse. [Issue#166, p.79]

    At $30, I expected a short but dense Wolfenstein experience with two new protagonists and a tangible narrative thread connecting them to the original games, their father B.J. Blazkowicz. What we got was a horrible imitation of the rest of the series, complete with an absolutely senseless plot, unacceptably bad and annoying characters, and joyless combat. I find that a weak plot can be forgiven if gameplay is flawless and satisfying, and sometimes weaker gameplay can be ignored in favor of an incredible story, but you cannot botch BOTH aspects and expect people to like your game.
