There is quite frankly an overwhelming amount of content in Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate – while those upgrading from the base game may find it difficult to justify the cost outside of Infinity Mode, there’s no question that anybody tossing up between the base Orochi 4 and Ultimate at this point should absolutely go with the latter.

I had a blast taking out thousands of enemies, and I couldn’t recommend more to those hungry for some solid Musou action.

In the world obsessed with Souls-likes, Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is a great reminder that action games can be fast, frantic and fun, too. Hyperactive J-rock paces the heated action that is presented in a steady frame-rate throughout despite all things happening on screen. Responsive and effortless controls keep up the flow beautifully and I, for one, didn’t get tired of the featured gameplay that is a whole lot more forthcoming and easier to grasp than in individual titles in Samurai and Dynasty Warriors series. As a separate and quite pricey upgrade, the Ultimate edition doesn’t feel all that essential if you own Warriors Orochi 4 already. However, as a bundle to the newcomers, it’s a great entry point to the extravagant and action-packed franchise.

Loud, colourful, and chaotic. Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is a more than worthy addition to the long-running, entertaining franchise.

Warriors Orochi 4 is one of the best Warriors series games with more than 170 warriors, and the Ultimate version makes the gameplay even deeper. However, the updated content is very limited and a little bit expensive. For those gamers who already own Warriors Orochi 4, it doesn't seem worthy.

Ultimat adds some interesting new features, but overall it’s more interesting if you haven’t played the original and you discover it as a brand new experience.

For players who have yet to pick up the game, it’s hard to beat the value provided in this package. That said, it’s safe to say that this is for genre fans only — this game scratches a very specific itch, and not everyone will want to scratch it.

It expands the already content reach original, but not enough for the entry price. Ir will be more worthy for new players.

Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is the definitive edition of the fourth chapter in the Omega-Force series.Rich in content but sold at a high price, it could be the best time to experiment this bizarre but fun cross-over.

At this point, you are most likely either in or out when it comes to the series. Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is a fun Warriors game, but won’t change your mind on the genre.

This is one of those games where the final verdict is somewhat up for debate. On one hand this is the definitive version of the game and if one had to choose between this or the 2018 release this would be the recommended version hands down. For people who have already completed Warriors Orochi 4, the additional content may not be enough to justify the cost of admission. For hardcore fans like this reviewer the new content is worthwhile, but other people who felt satisfied with the conclusion of Warriors Orochi 4 and feel no need to return to that world won’t likely have their opinion swayed by the new content.

Despite my own disappointment with the last few installments of this series, Warriors Orochi 4 reminds me why I fell in love with it all those years ago with Dynasty Warriors Gundam. It’s tight, polished, chockful of content, and an almost constant dopamine rush.

Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate adds some interesting content to the game, with new story missions, characters and modes.

The new version of the game brings a load of content designed specifically for fans of the Koei Tecmo crossover universe, those who will benefit most from this "update". On the other hand, the experience remains what it was in the beginning: a reckless action, naturally prone to a monotonous gait, but overall better than other congeners and in its own way galvanizing, if taken in small doses.

Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is the best and most complete version of the latest Koei crossover series incarnation. Even if it keeps the original flaws, it tries to adjust the narrative to a more “human” level and utterly develops a game structure that is deep on its own way. It’s neither the best mosou nor the best Warriors Orochi, but the contents of this Ultimate Edition gave it the dignity to become a good starting point to approach the genre.

Ultimate, er, ultimately transforms Warriors Orochi 4 into a much more complete package. That said, it's a shame that many of these improvements come courtesy of paid DLC -- pretty expensive DLC at that. For newcomers, Warriors Orochi 4 now gets a recommendation. For existing fans, you'll have to weigh up whether the additions are enough to pull you back in.

Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate chooses quantity over quality. While it includes tons of characters, the bland level and mission design lose their allure far too quickly, which is a shame. With a little more care and tweaks to mechanics, it could have been a strong entry in the series.

I can’t really argue for Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate as a must-play Musou title for fans. I think developer Omega Force has certainly done better work in the past, and I’d be willing to bet you’re better off holding out for One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 in the near future if you’re looking to get your fix. Still, there are certainly dozens upon dozens of hours of playable content here, so if you’re jonesing for a mindless button masher, Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate can likely satisfy that itch.

In the end, Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is a mediocre Musou title. The action of wiping out giant hordes of enemies is exhilarating at first and the gameplay is rather polished but unfortunately, that's all there is to it and there's no feeling of escalation.

As a newcomer to the franchise, you’ve got a $60 game packed with the most content I’ve ever seen in a Dynasty Warriors entry. For fans who already own the original game, though, you’re faced with purchasing a $40 upgrade kit that comes with two new story chapters, seven characters, one replayable game mode and a handful of gameplay updates. It’s an easy sell for brand new players, but I think only the most hardcore of Warriors fans will feel like the price-tag of the DLC update is worth it for Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate.

This is what Warriors Orochi 4 should've been when the game launched.

The title offers an even better and deeper character customization than WO3 offered. Promotions are back, upgrade stones are back, character stats cap are lifted, skill trees are expanded, players can craft weapons, etc. The game simply just offers a lot of stuff to do and a lot of ways to upgrade your characters.

The story has been expanded, new characters have been, added and an extra game mode similar to what WO3 makes a come back through the "infinity" mode.

The game is extremely fun gameplay wise and yes while it will get repetitive is addictive enough to offer plenty of replayability due to the ridiculous amount of playable characters.

People seem to score this game much worse than the vanilla version and truth be told I can't even exactly blame them for doing it but frankly speaking it's unfair.

This game doesn't require a previous purchase of the vanilla version and the only reason it sucks is if you bought the vanilla version on release for 60 euros and now having to upgrade for another 40 but if you judge this game on its own there's no way this game is worse off than the vanilla version.

Frankly speaking this is the most fun Warriors game up to date and if you are a fan of this franchise or of this type of game than by all means this game will not disappoint.

Everything works as expected. Fans of the genre and games will love it, detractors will hate it.
