As much as I wanted to like this game, it feels generally dated. And it actually is, since they are just re-selling an old F2P game, stripped from some of the p2w aspects as well as 80% of its content.

I mean it would be fine for 20$, if it was good from the gameplay standpoint. But it isn't, since controls are pretty abysmal and so is the netcode. It's bound to be a niche thing. A very

It's bound to be a niche thing. A very limited CS clone for consoles. On a bad tech. Meh.

If this review is TL;DR, Warface: Breakout in its current state is the “Fortnite for Nintendo Switch” of Search and Destroy.

If this review is TL;DR, Warface: Breakout in its current state is the “Fortnite for Nintendo Switch” of Search and Destroy.

My main two points for this review is 1. The freezing, and 2. The Lag.

Every time you get shot, the game freezes. Every time you exit the post-game menu, it freezes. I would imagine that this game isn’t pushing my PS4 Slim to the limit to cause these frequent stutters because the game has the graphics as if it was a cosmetic DLC pack for CS:GO. And if it is freezing because I use a Slim and not the Pro, I have no words that can describe how big of an issue that is that a pay-to-play game at $27 CAD (with micro-transactions) should not have. I compare this to the N.S fortnite port because the game freezes from everything. From someone building a stair piece right in front of you, to someone shooting a pistol in your direction 100 meters away.

The lag may sound like I’m blaming my lack of skill on the game, but it is visible. People teleport across hallways and I can shoot five bullets into a person’s chest (which can be audibly counted), but it only registers one shot by the time I die due to a combo of this and the freezing. The least laggy server from my location according to the server select screen is the Chicago server at 17 ms, which is the server I have used since I started playing. In the PS4 and N.S version of Fortnite, I play on the NAE server. My ping is 17 ms (when rounded) on the log in screen in PS4, and usually 37 ms in the settings menu on both PS4 and N.S. I usually have 30-50 ping when ingame on fortnite on both listed versions according to the net debug stats in the top-left corner. Fortnite has up to 100 players at any given time on a 2 KM by 2 KM map, plus the henchmen. If a much bigger game can sustain ping this low, It's not crazy to assume Breakout can at worst match that ingame ping?

Warface: Breakout has only up to 10 players at any time on a map the size of 4 CoD Shipment’s stitched together, yet somehow is actually consistently more laggy than the N.S port of Fortnite, which mind you has moments of 200+ ping for no reason that my PS4 in the same room never gets, and also the “walls of red” (any N.S Fortnite player with net debug stats visible knows what I mean). Warface has no ingame option to look at these net debug stats so I can’t compare them with numbers.

Don’t buy this game, you can play CS:GO for free on a laptop with worse specs than the N.S and it’d still play better.

    Horrible.
Laggy. Long matchmaking times. Stiff controls. Should've been free.

Buying free to play game? Nice. I like original and not like breakout. Its **** game! Old engine, old graphics and physics

F#@&ing terrible. Glitchy, lazy and unbalanced. My sniper headshot doesn't register but his SMG headshots from across the map do?! That's happened to more times to count and the game came out yesterday
Save your money and time. For the sake of humanity, please skip this retched game! The devs don't deserveerve money for this steaming pile of garbage!

This game is broken. They stripped warface down to a barebones Alpha version of counter strike that has some of the biggest server issues I've seen to date. The game straight freezes when you get shot/shoot someone. Bringing up the buy menu stutters the game. Spectating stutters the game. Planting and diffusing stutters the game. FIX THE **** MOVEMENT AND LAG and it might actually be an ok game. A competitive shooter really needs to be polished for it to be actually competitive. Losing rounds because of lag RUINS this game. Until its all been fixed I don’t recommend spending a penny.

Atrocious game. Charging $20 for this. Jesus. Predominant problem is the fact the game seems to have been made in 2008, with its clunky movement and mobile graphics. It looked like a mobile game when I first saw it. Save that $20 for a nice breakfast at Wendy’s or something. Better bang for buck than this flaming pile of shet

This game is total dog **** Imagine waiting 9 months to have a baby, raising it from birth, and pouring your money into it just for it to die from a stupid reason. That’s this game. You spend your hard earned money, you wait for it to be downloaded, and 20% of the shots register. Grenades fall through the map, enemies are always five-stacking, and you are going to get outgunned. The enemies are around the corner and shoot you before you can see them. I can’t even return the game. PlayStation has some dumb **** policy about refunds being a one time deal and you can’t even spend the money on a different game. Don’t waste your money. Spend it on a game that has been developed properly. I hope that this review can save someone $20. Maybe they will get fixed over time, but, I won’t know because this game is unplayable and Always will be. Expand

The csgo concept for a console game is quite appealing especially with the current state of R6 and COD. However, as of the drop of Season 1 the game still has horrendous lag when getting into gunfights and random frame drops at the absolute worst times. Ranked is an absolute joke as 2 rounds in it is bascially either a 1v5 or 5v1. Game doesn’t function. Horrible lag as soon as you come in contact with a another player. Match making is god awful. I’ve been stuck in multiple infinite loading screens and even if this game decides to load you will most likely be put into a game that is on match point so you will not even get a chance to spawn in, and then you will have to repeat the process all over again. Calling this game an early Alpha would be a compliment. Charging £15 for this game is criminal. If this game was released on the PS3 back in 2007 it might be passable. Expand

Warface: Breakout is a nice attempt at a tactical FPS. It works really well, and it’s fun to play. There’s just not a lot there at this time. For $20, the game’s not expensive, but it’s still hard to recommend over established games in the genre like Rainbow Six Siege or CS:GO. Still, if the developers make good and release more content, it could be a worthwhile investment and ultimately catch up to the greats in the genre.

Warface: Breakout is a very admirable attempt at a close-quarters competitive shooter, but in a market with CSGO and now Valorant, Warface looks to be the very weakest option. It doesn't do anything unique, and it's aesthetically ugly. When Warface: Breakout works, it works well, but as it stands now I do not see a future for the game long-term.
