Whether you were a witness to its glory in its original context, or whether you’re just reading about it for the first time in 2020, Vanquish is an experience worth having. Its desire to subvert entrenched shooter tropes in both its mechanics and its story, leaves it feeling a breath of fresh air to those who have been jaded by how samey the genre can feel. If you like your games to demand mastery, and to reward those who unlock the potential within its mechanics with an undeniable feeling of coolness, then Vanquish is absolutely worth your time.

It may be basic as a remaster, but Vanquish manages to hold up in the PS4's twilight year. Brimming with enjoyable, fast-paced action which is exemplified by the knee slide, one of PlatinumGames' best experiences has a new lease of life that it's going to take full advantage of. Vanquish doesn’t look the part, but it most certainly plays like it.

Vanquish rewards those who take their time and utilize every tool the AR suit has to offer with some great moments of video game combat. Throw in a wide variety of weapons, and you have everything you need for a fantastic action experience, albeit a short one.

The Vanquish Remaster brings a ton of much-needed, fast-paced, arcade fun back into the third-person shooter world. Excellent design, goofy characters and vibrant environments make this a pleasant playthrough even 10 years later.

A bold, 10-year old experiment in sliding and shooting in which the sliding part definitely aged better. [04/2020, p.69]

The main campaign is short and sweet but also an adrenaline rush from start to finish. If you were to persevere and actually take the time to become comfortable with the game and its mechanics you will find that it is an extremely rewarding experience. You will become a SMOKING SPEED FREAK. As a port, the PS4 version has been done well and runs at a satisfying Frame Rate. Expand

I missed this game during PS3 launch. I just wanted to try it when the 10th anniversary bundle released and it didn't disappoint. Lets say,I missed this game during PS3 launch. I just wanted to try it when the 10th anniversary bundle released and it didn't disappoint. Lets say, remastered graphics is pretty average, it definitely shows age. But the game-play was a blast from start to end. Lots of weaponry, fast paced game-play and never a dull moment ! its an old school non-stop action / shooter game. Go for it if that's your type of game.
Wish they have made a sequel !

If you'll play on harder difficulties and chase the highscores you can get much more hours out of this game, but still it's not too expensive for what it is (I got physical bundle with Bayonetta for about 35 euros on launch). Graphics are quite outdated but still look relatively nice, and gameplay is very fun. Expand

I'll admit I only played through this game in preperation for an event, so maybe I couldn't appreciate it too much. I like the graphics butI'll admit I only played through this game in preperation for an event, so maybe I couldn't appreciate it too much. I like the graphics but they are very much a product of the time. Elena and Same were the best parts of the game, and both characters felt well-written. The rest though were either cannon fodder soldiers, boring villains, or Gears of War ripoffs. The gameplay was somewhat enjoyable, but it wasn't intuitive and even with the whole playthrough I felt like I never got a good grasp on it which feels like the design, as the arcade styling of points and such implied it wanted multiple playthroughs but really I had no interest in that. The mechanics were fun and it was enjoyable to slide around and go into slow-motion but the cover-based shooting and the output enemies did for damage made it really feel awkward unless you wanted to pump dozens of hours into the game. Overally not really that great of an experience and I don't think it is worth it unless you REALLY need more third-person shooters in your life. Expand
