The PS4 is far from the most powerful VR machine but this is where Vacation Simulator works well – its visuals are bright and colorful but not technically demanding, allowing for a smooth and crisp experience. While there’s not technically a lot of depth here, there are still a good few hours of exploration, whimsical play and escapism on offer. Get your annual leave booked – Vacation Simulator is a trip worth taking.

Some may enjoy a thoroughly planned itinerary but the brochure led us to believe this fine establishment would allow us to go with the flow just a little more. [Issue#164, p.88]

With some very smart additions, Vacation Simulator is a suitably more free flowing and open ended experience than its predecessor. Larger locations, reasons to revisit, and a huge range of things to see and do, this is a successful evolution of the silly sandbox antics Owlchemy Labs does so well. Despite PS Move tracking issues and no real step forward in writing, this is another mindlessly fun time-waster for when the summer Sun dips behind the clouds.

The first one was fun to mess around in but it was over far too quickly and wasn’t really a game and more of a sandbox. The sequel introduces real challenges and actual progression with the memories system and unlockable avatar customisation items whilst retaining the humour and sandbox aspects. Full Review »
