Outside environments still look stunning, inside is again not as great visually, that game is a tad short and feels quite a bit easier than the first one. The challenge levels are an immense increase in difficulty and get frustrating quickly. Also the Story is not as memorable. That said, it is still very charming and a lot of fun.

Unravel Two is just an ordinary pushed cash-grab that serves nothing more as EA's multiplayer propaganda. It lacks almost all of the elements that made the first installment special. Puzzles are so simplistic, collectables and enemies are so uninspired.

Мне понравилось. Саундтреки, атмосфера, графика, помоему были намеки на сюжет, в виде девочки и мальчика что на фоне убегали от своих демонов, но бтв эта игра не про это. Хороший платформер на пару вечеров.

It's a great indie game, but it's not as good as the first one, I am not going to lie.

There was something magical and so emotional about the first Unravel. This time, with Unravel Two, it's more about puzzle solving and traversing the (short) game with a companion (that can be controlled by a friend, through couch co-op). But don't get me wrong. i absolutely loved it and I celebrate

But don't get me wrong. i absolutely loved it and I celebrate and respect the developer for the messages they want to promote with this little story. We can - and we should - help each other and this has nothing to do with the color of our skin. There is a lot of symbolism and the soundtrack is haunting as ever. I was just expecting a more emotional journey. It felt as if something was missing by the time the credits rolled.

In any case, this should be played. It's a great indie game and an unquestionable product of love.

Either way here youll be controlling two characters.. characters than can be customized
and if youre playing solo you can pick the other character up and carry them with you so it isn’t an annoying switching back and forth inching towards level progressing
you use these characters as support for eachother to overcome every obstacle thrown at you..
of course theres a warm message here.. this is an unravel game..
I feel though that Unravel Two is much less warm than the first game
there is no sweet old lady here to put pictures in a scrap book and make you cry, this time you’re following two teens through their journey together..
The first game to me felt like a heart warming passion project where every level was stitched together by hand… Unravel Two on the other hand felt more like just a game.. though that’s not to say its without charm, it has its charm.. it just has a lot to live up to considering the first unravel is my favorite puzzle platforming game of all time
This game consists of 7 chapters as well as 20 optional challenge levels where your goal is to rescue a yarn friend…
The 7 chapters here to me felt a little too samey..
the first game every level was memorable ,it was alive and different..
here ill probably remember nothing but the turkey sequence..
theres much less bringing the background and world to life here which is disappointing…
its not fair to critique as this isn’t something I would notice if it didn’t have the name unravel attached to it, but since it does it is noticed…
you still get the same colorful levels here.. but the style and feel of these levels never change…
the puzzle solving here is also dumbed down making this feel mire like a momentum based game than a stop and think game it is a bunch of using each other to swing to locations, hold items so the other can jump, and distracting…
its best if you think of this game less as an unravel sequel and more of a co op game set in the unravel world…
it just doesn’t live up to the first game but as a stand alone title that has nothing to do with the first game story wise.. there is tons of charm here, there is care put into the animations, there are a couple of puzzle that stumped me for a couple seconds, though there is an optional hint system here…
there are collectables here as well but again back to momentum, the levels aren’t really designed this time to explore like they were in the first game, so youll spot a lot of them as you run through naturally.
The music is beautiful and this game still brings its levels to life better than any other game out there not including the first unravel of course…
these levels are living and breathing.. they feel real… you feel like youre a little yarn person running through the forest or through a factory…
Theres an insane amount of care and polish here.. there there is an annoying invisible wall thing going on during a platforming section that’s just infuriating.. I had to use the games slow mo mechanic to get past it…
I really want to see this series continue so I hope unravel two does well…
if we do get an unravel 3 I hope it goes back to the solo play of the first game where you had to actually manage the yarn and be more clever…
this was a nice pallet cleanser but give me the real thing again
    I give Unravel Two
    a 7.5/10

BUT the best thing is I get to play this with my 8 year old daughter. With Unravel 1 we played separately - each finishing the whole game in separate play sessions. In Unravel 2 we play together, sometimes we race each other, but all of the time we figure the puzzles out together, deciding what role each of us will play in solving the puzzle - and we laugh at the situations we get ourselves into. And we help each other, I am not as good as her at the side to side jumping - so often she grabs me on my back. It's super fun. The game can be played like that all the way through but we prefer to play in co-op. We love the music and the settings to. And now we are on the bonus levels. it is a wonderful game. Expand

Playing it with someone else, I feel, is the whole point; otherwise, the experience may not feel worth the money, and players who plan to play solo should wait till it's the usual $14.99 indie game price tag, or less.)

Now... I don't really understand the low reviews from people who played the original. Maybe when they mean "Unravel 2" is less challenging/easier, what they're really saying is "Unravel 2" isn't nearly as frustrating as the prequel was, unnecessarily, due to bugs that could've been ironed out before release.

Another thing that may make this game "feel" lesser than the first is that we already know HOW it works, even if we never played the first. We know Yarny's "unraveling" is the telling of a story with happy and not-so-happy moments. It's no longer a surprise, and therefore, no longer as sentimentally absorbing. Sure, creators could've made the story in this one much darker, but then that would force a different rating on the game... and, I mean, why do that? So kids can't play it?

Truth is, this game is PERFECT for kids. I can definitely see kids and adults alike quitting Unravel out of frustration, but I see no reason why anyone would want to stop playing Unravel 2. Everything flows so beautifully in comparison. And to me, that is what makes this one superior to the first, despite the story not being as engaging - or not seeming as engaging - possibly for reason stated above.

A lot of wall to wall jumping. The last chapter is completely at odd with the rest of the game. Suddenly you get a new power and magic areal support. Not much emotions are translate into the game. The music was excellent in the first game. This time it's a mix bag of good and boring. To be fair, the last two chapters have excellent soundtracks. The graphics are amazing, the sounds is very good. You can't fault this developer on it's skill, but I think the story just wasn't that great. It stays true to the original but adds co-op which allows you to play and experiment together as you find your path through the beautiful environments. If the gameplay was your favorite part of the first game, then you'll most likely love everything about this game. If the story was your favorite part of the first game, then you'll most likely leave the game feeling more like me. Unravel's Yarny was a lovingly crafted character that metaphorically represented a woman's knitting in order to have keepsakes to remind her of past events. Unravel Two's characters seemed to transcend time and space, being able to summon omnipotent balls of light that could change the past? I went over what that could possibly mean in my mind for a while and I gave up, writing it off as just a creative choice instead of narrative metaphor. At roughly half the length of the first game's story, Unravel Two seems to end extremely abruptly as well, offering a final mission that seems climactic only through music and level design, but no heightened emotion or great gameplay changes that made me *feel* like this was the final level of the game. I still enjoyed every minute of gameplay, but I can't deny that I feel greatly underwhelmed with my experience as a whole. One element of the game that has most certainly maintained it's magnificent quality, though, is the score. Every level offers music that is nothing short of breathtaking, and would be a reason to go back and trophy hunt -- just for an excuse to listen to the music over again. I guess overall, the additional yarn creature made fascinating gameplay improvements possible but other than that change, everything else that changed was for the worse; 4 fewer missions, unpolished narrative, and confused goals hold back this game from being recommendable for me. When the credits start rolling, a paragraph comes on screen that thanks the player for giving this game the time it deserves (agreed), and says that not one person can take credit for any role as they all did so much. This epitomizes my issues with the game: it feels like a hodgepodge of different peoples' desires and ideas without having a concrete identity of it's own. Expand

Sometimes it was just better for one of us sit back morph into the other character and do a part of a section or puzzle solo watching the other character swing around like mad. Got the bundle and I can't see myself playing the first solo game. I'd play an Unravel 3 to keep the kid happy for sure.

Unravel 2 was so fun to play as a co-op game and my partner and I wanted to be the best yarns that we could be. The puzzles were fun and were a great challenge as we'd just finished Overcooked 2. The weird abused child subplot felt not fully formed. Like they were trying to add a story to it but didn't quite get to that result. Soooo maybe next time put more time into the story and make it good or don't have one at all. I have not played the first Unravel which seems more like a proof-of-concept game and this one seems to have improved greatly on the original. I'm excited for the next one!

    Takeaways
Pros: be yarns and work together to help each other, fun puzzles, great co-op game.
Cons: half-baked story line did not fit really with the game, over too soon (I love puzzles)

The second part is in no way inferior to its predecessor. Still the same kind 2D platformer with relatively simple puzzles and cool music. The main distinguishing feature from the first part is a cooperative for two people, which makes the passage of the game even more exciting.

This is a fantastic game, one of the really good ones to play for two people. Visually astonishing, this is a very unique platformer. Have managed to complete it in one go on a lazy Saturday - highly recommend as a 'couples game'. An improvement from the first game, in my opinion.

Really great coop game, we enjoyed playing it. Nice story but episodes are too easy compared to the challenges. Challenges are kind of impossible to achieve.

Атмосферный и местами милый платформер. Из минусов лишь его продолжительность. Игра крайне короткая.

Unravel blossoms in co-op, which additionally alleviates one of game’s problems – again interactive elements in the environment are often hard to spot (especially under pressure), so second pair of eyes helps. Other than co-op it’s more of the same (sometimes I even wondered if I saw a particular level before), but still I enjoyed it more than the original game, even if the first Unravel’s visuals were more impressive when it came out. Unravel Two is a fairly compact jaunt with only seven levels and some optional challenges for those who want them, but I found it to be the perfect length for what it is. The runtime offers a satisfying array of puzzles that function equally as well with one player as they do for two, it’s stunning to look at, a pleasure to listen to, and although they might not be ranked alongside other videogame luminaries, I adore yarnies. I’m not sure if a third game is in the cards considering how quickly Unravel Two was forgotten, but if so, I’d be more than happy to go on an adventure with them again.

For something light and enjoyable, we would certainly recommend it, but don't expect this one to reach down and really grab a hold of your soul. [Issue#203, p.78]
