Story driven portions of the game contain a multitude of branching dialogue paths that, based on the choices you make, gives deeper insight into the different characters, while the RPG portion of the game uses a familiar but refined turn-based battle system with unique twists. Both of these gameplay features are contained within a first-person perspective dungeon crawler with dungeons built like mazes and filled with traps and hidden paths.

Undead Darlings is a gem of a dungeon crawler so if you enjoy exploring grid-based maps and fighting hilariously quirky monsters then you'll love what it has to offer. Throw in a charmingly lighthearted story and you're left with one memorable zombie-filled adventure.

With fantastic writing, well-designed levels, great attention to detail, and a surprisingly challenging combat system, Undead Darlingsis a wonderful playthrough if you love zombies, dating sims, or dungeon crawler RPGs. Yet despite all these accomplishments, the game is severely hindered by its sloppy and often frustrating UI.

The monster designs are particularly wacky and memorable. It’s not often that you’ll have to save the world by fighting zombie pensioners and demonic-looking Humpty Dumpty's. Undead Darlings isn’t afraid to poke fun at itself and, minor gameplay annoyances aside, the strong writing and compelling characters make this one worth checking out.

If I would recommend Undead Darlings: No Cure for Love to anyone, they'd have to be onboard with a very slow dungeon crawler. Whilst I do like the writing and some of the relationship building, it requires a fair amount of tedium to get to. Systems seem in place to lead your party into a hasty retreat when weapons break, inventory fills or a boss becomes too steep to beat. Outside of that, I find a game that's charmingly presented with some really nice touches. It's a shame the combat becomes such a time commitment.

One moment it’s cute and funny and the next it’s dry and drawn out. A peculiar mix of engrossing visual novel and average dungeon crawler, Undead Darlings ~no cure for love~ will please those who have the patience to push through its moments of drudgery. For everyone else, a purer form of each genre might be more entertaining.
