I was hesitant to give Uncharted 4 a perfect score. Like the other games in the series, it featured some of the natural faults of parkour controls (here's looking at you, Assassin's Creed) like Nathan not jumping to the handhold you want as well as the annoying typical Uncharted difficulty spike during the final chapters. The story was also somewhat predictable, even in a couple of its twists. However, the sheer excellence this game boasts in every other area is what earns that 10. The story, while predictable at times, is as fun as ever, and the introduction of Nathan's brother Sam is a fun change-up on the Nate/Sully pair. The performances and mo-cap work are as flawless as ever, and the actor's excellent performances really allow us to buy into the story. This also serves as a beautiful end to Nate's saga, with a truly unique epilogue. This is the closest a game has ever come to being full-blown cinema (at least in the games I've played). This is helped along by the absolutely stunning graphics. In 15 years of gaming, I don't think I ever let my mouth drop at visuals...until the opening sequences of Uncharted 4. Seriously, this is one of the most gorgeous and stunning games *ever*. The gameplay is tight and fun. Both stealth and brute force work equally well, but best in tandem. The set pieces are crazy as always, and the final boss battle was probably one of my favorites I've ever played. Last but not least, I've also really enjoyed diving into the multiplayer. Eschewing the traditional leveling system works well in this case, and the cosmetic bonuses are fun ways to utilize progression. All in all, Uncharted 4 is one of my favorite gaming experiences I've ever had. I would recommend ti (and the rest of the series for that matter) to anyone--not just gamers. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For Nathan Drake's final outing, this was a huge one. The story takes some amazing twists and even ends in the same way as the Goonies! Gameplay-wise the shooting feels like it took a little bit from every Uncharted game and sprinkled it all in there. Gone is the shaky aiming, but every gun felt like Drake has the strength of a 12 year old firing a .45-caliber. The multiplayer is where it really shines. Every single item in the game is unlockable by simply playing. Though if you're impatient you can just spent actual money to unlock things, but with enough patience you can save the $50 bucks you'll inevitably spend on vanity gear. Again, when I say everything, I mean everything! Characters, outfits, accessories, taunts, all of it is unlockable with the "relic" currency you get for simply playing the game. One thing that's missing, though I hope they'll add was the co-op arena mode from Uncharted 3. I'd highly recommend this with the season pass as well because there is a story expansion coming as well as multiplayer expansions. Expand

Uncharted 4 is about 15 hours long, the bad thing about most adventure games is that they don't deliver on any cool or memorable moments through out the game, but Uncharted 4 is a system seller. It's easily the best one in the series, and it nails the ending so good.

Also, "A Thief's End" have an amazing storyline which make you cry in the end. It's the best-looking game for now, by the way. So, buy this game immediatly (if you were not doing this) and enjoy!

Uncharted 4 is one of the best video games I've ever played. When I think of my all-time favorites - Red Dead Redemption, Fallout New Vegas, Resident Evil 4 - Uncharted 4 is every bit as awesome as those games. This is the first game I've played on the PS4 that has truly wow'ed me.

The graphics are INSANE. A good deal better than any other game I've played. Essentially photo-realistic.

The graphics are INSANE. A good deal better than any other game I've played. Essentially photo-realistic. This game is beautiful. It's so beautiful that it's hard to go back to a game like Fallout 4 and take it seriously (yes, I realize FO4 is open-world, but it looks like a 2012 title in comparison). Uncharted 4 is a work of art. The draw distance and scope of the environments are second to none, and the attention to detail is mind-blowing.

The gameplay is a solid blend of climbing, exploring, and shooting. The shooting feels good for a 3rd person shooter, and the added stealth component is a lot of fun. The combination of climbing and shooting (e.g. swinging across a chasm while firing an Uzi or dropping from a ledge into the tall grass to perform a stealth kill) is where the game really shines. If it had TLOU-esque gore, the shooting would be that much more satisfying, but I understand they wanted to keep it Teen.

Combine the graphics and gameplay with an above-average story and fully-wrought characters and you have one of the best games of all time. In terms of sheer technical prowess, it may be THE best game of all time. It's laughable that this has a 7.8 user score. Don't listen to the trolls, nitpickers, and Xbox fanboys. This is incredible.

The introduction of the rope to game-play, as well as some ante upping on stealth mode are wonderful additions. The game is perfectly paced. The intensity ramps up higher and higher as the story continues. Firefights are much rarer than past installments, and very unique. This game-play variety surprisingly adds a lot to the story. Nate no longer feels like an unstoppable killing machine, but more like an aging man, past his prime, simply doing his best.

Of course, without the story, Uncharted would just be...well.., it wouldn't be AS amazing. But the cinematic plot does not disappoint. It incorporates flashbacks, without using them as a crutch, and unlike past games the plot progression continues even after the cut-scenes end. Those long walks through a path, awkward climbs up rustic buildings, and in this games case, drives through the desert now host interesting conversation rather than mindless, albeit often hilarious banter.

The set-pieces in the game are equally amazing. The breathtaking landscapes sometimes prompt a few minutes of inactivity where the player just stares at Naughty Dog's meticulous attention to detail. And with the new photo mode, this is even more magnificent.

Reportedly, this is to be the last game in the Uncharted franchise. Prior to playing this game, I was disappointed. "I hope its good" I thought, resolving to spend my last few weeks with Nathan Drake and CO. as well as possible, relishing every moment. But A thieves end is different. It does something next to impossible for a gamer. It satisfies. That desire for more that the player felt after uncharted one, two, and three, is totally absent. I may never see Nathan Drake again, and I'm okay with that. From brutal brawls, to death-defying leaps; wide open mountains, to claustrophobic caves, this game is practically perfect in every away.

The ending is intense with an awesome fight scene. It is also the perfect send off to the Nathan Drake and this ending keep thing open so we may have a uncharted game without Nathan in the future
    Gameplay:
Combat is more refined in this installment. More open areas that make for more dynamic gameplay. Stealth and melee are the best in the series taking a mix of uncharted and what Naughty dog in the 2013 hit "The Last of Us"
    Presentation:
This has to be one of the best looking games of all time. I can't believe that the ps4 can handle it. The single player runs in 1080p 30fps while the multiplayer runs in 900p 60 fps. This was a good choice as the story presentation was going for a movie like quality so it's more pretty with a movie like frame rate. The multiplayer is focused on gameplay so it needs a smoother framerate.
    Mulitiplayer:
The Mulitiplayer is fast and bombastic fun. Only 3 modes right now, Team Deathmatch, Objective, and plunder are all fun and exciting. If you want to be more competitive, there is a ranked mode for Team Deathmatch as well.
    Final Thoughts:
This is a beautiful crafted game that rivals some of the best games ever made. Flaws are so minor if any at all, it shows how much time and care has gone in to the final adventure in this series (at least for Drake) That why I consider this a perfect game, a game that other games in the industry should try to live up to. To make a game with as much quality and caliber as this.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I keep going back to this game to try and push through to the end, but it's a real struggle. And it's not because the game is difficult (it isn't) but because of how dreadfully boring it is.

I really enjoyed the other three games - 1 was unpolished but fun, 2 was the best of the series, 3 upped the spectacle and diverse environments though was disjointed and made less sense. I even played most of Golden Abyss and it wasn't bad. Uncharted 4 is just a tedious slog. It's one thing to have puzzles, character moments, and slow parts to build immersion and break up the action. All the others had these and it worked. But this time around they basically forgot to include any actual gameplay! Action sequences seem almost begrudgingly shoved in, in the form of "encounters", which are actually fine, but they are often literally hours apart. In between these are interminable segments of walking, talking, and climbing, with little to no additional combat.

I have made it maybe 1/2 or 2/3 of the way through the game, and the plot isn't great. It looked promising at first starting out with 'retired' Nate getting back into the adventurer game, and I thought I would give it time to slowly build. But then it didn't really go anywhere interesting. The ret-conned brother character really comes out of left field. Somehow the relationships and dialogue don't do it the way they used to. Something "fun" is missing. It's clear there are different writers.

The invulnerable (yet entirely uninteresting) black female character Nadine kicking Nate's ass left me scratching my head at first because it seemed so weird and unnecessary, but now that I know about Neil Druckman and his catastrophic influence on The Last of Us 2's plot, it makes sense that he would shoehorn this in as part of his absurd "woke" agenda.

I can't for the life of me figure out how this misfire of a game came away with so many 9/10 reviews. Maybe one day I will make it through this one. For anyone considering picking this up, however, be warned: you might hate the series after playing it.

    Edit, revised score from 4/10:

Now that I have finished the game, I can say that the second half finally picks up the pace and is better, and even its slow bits are improved, though the first 10-15 hours are still ridiculously slowly paced. If the first time wasn't gratuitous enough, Nadine kicks both Drake brothers' asses in hand-to-hand combat a second time!

The final sword fight with Rafe is obnoxious and too difficult, basically a 10-minute quicktime event. Game developers: don't introduce a completely new game mechanic for the final scene! (Pro tip, spam both triangle and circle each time he swings and you'll parry correctly enough to get through).

The ending is decent overall and brings good closure to the series, though why a guy who now literally owns a salvage company doesn't make project #1 to go back to the island and recover the billions of dollars in lost gold which he now knows the exact location of, boggles the mind.

The Game tells more narrative story, puzzle cyphering then actual action gameplay, however their is still a lot of action in the game just not as much Uncharted 2 Among Thieves and Uncharted 3 Drake’s Deception. The Game is more in the likeness of Drake’s Fortune when talking about mood for the game. With saying that their is a much more narrative story then Drake’s fortune and other 2 releases which is a good thing. On the gameplay side the new aim lock target is very awesome, in which the cursor is bigger and more hardened when locked and as usually lights up red when locked and ready for fire. The game also has picture mode so you as the player can now take in game framed pictures of Drake, even though we have the share factory on PS4 it’s still a great feature by hitting down on the sticks and capturing to just share your photo instantly. The Maps are big ranging from 40 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes and the campaign has a prologue, 22 chapters, and a epilogue chapter going into the future years after the final chapter. All and All Uncharted 4 was the game i was waiting for and I’m thrilled with the results. Stating that the forthcoming game will be the last rendezvous with a popular, charismatic hero is a rare phenomenon. I congratulate Naughty Dog on their courage and in spite of myself keep my fingers crossed for them to stick to their decision. The farewell party they threw for Nate is simply spectacular. This is how I want to remember him, not as an old man who rubbed his joints with pain cream and then found a UFO. Uncharted 4 is a brilliant game and a breathtaking demonstration of what PS4 is capable of. [07/2016, p.56]
