I loved Type:Rider and I’m not sure if the reason for this is my utter nerdiness when it comes to learning about the English language. However, no matter your interest in learning about fonts, this is a fun and peaceful game that is great for sitting back and relaxing while still playing your PS4. Type:Rider is one of the best puzzle games I’ve played this year and I can’t wait to get back to it.

With a better level design it could've been a new modern classic, but it still is a beautiful and enjoyable game with a couple of outstanding sequences.

Overally, Type: Rider felt like a relatively basic platformer. The educational aspect of the game falls just short of being meaningfully employed; instead feeling more like wrapping paper. I’d recommend it if you or someone you know is into fonts and/or history, but otherwise it doesn’t truly standout.

In all honesty it’s hard to imagine many people being all that interested in a detailed account of how and why certain fonts were created but the idea does allow for some interesting design, both in terms of visuals and gameplay. The platforming itself, whilst occasionally frustrating, is also generally fairly good fun.

It only took around three hours to complete and I don’t have any inclination to play through it again, but overall Type:Rider is decent little indie game.
