As it is, PS4 version of Trulon: The Shadow Engine is sadly broken. It’s a crying shame because I really liked the game up to that point. With its spirited attitude, it even evoked vibes of old Final Fantasies, which is always a positive feeling. So, I’m calling out Kyy Games to patch the PS4 version. You owe it the customers who bought your game in a good will. When that happens, I’m happy to return to Trulon: The Shadow Engine and give it a score it would deserve based solely on its gameplay and presentation.

Trulon: The Shadow Engine truly displays an interesting combat system and artwork that has some charm to it. Despite that charm, its animations are extremely dead, but that is far from the biggest problem in this version of the game - the dead animations would not have killed the game, only make it a little less enjoyable. The biggest problem is the fact that the game currently sits at a 0% completion rate going by trophy data, in this humble reviewer's experience. This is due to an error that breaks, among other things in the zone, one key NPC that is required to continue. It is very sad, as Trulon: The Shadow Engine shows some interesting aspects in the combat that would have been much more fun to leave the experience with rather than the broken mess it currently is thanks to the error.

Trulon was developed by KYYTrulon: The Shadow Engine is an RPG with a card based combat system which just released on the PlayStation 4. Trulon was developed by KYY Games and published by Head Up Games. You start the game as a young monster hunter named Gladia who has been sent on a quest by the mayor to find the source of the mysterious disease that is afflicting the land. Once outside the city, the open world allows you the option to encounter monsters and treasures, instead of throwing you in battle, as you make your way towards your next destination.

The card-based battle system is also turn-based making it a very laid back RPG to play. There are four playable characters, Each with their own playing styles and strengths. The artwork is simple yet colorful making it easily my favorite part of this game. Overall I think Trulon is the perfect introduction RPG for those who have not tried them yet, or for those that want to play a simple slow paced game. I give Trulon a 6/10 review score. Will it be a success? Unfortunately, probably not. Is it a good game? Yes, it is enjoyable for what it is. It has it’s bugs and I have my gripes but it is in no way a bad game. It would be a great addition to your game library, only if you enjoy the genre and card based games. Expand
