Truck driver has the potential to be a good game but barely just scrapes across as an average game and here is why.

    - AI vehicles are completely retarded causing traffic jams everywhere.
-Not enough AI vehicles so the world feels empty.
-No law enforcement, so you can just speed everywhere.
-No where near as many customisation options as other Truck sim games have.
-Contracts are boring and not enough variety.
-Side mirrors are so laggy it looks like a bad PS1 game when you are looking through them. And that’s not even the full list of things that are bad in the game I could go on and on. I really do hope the devs release some patches addressing just some of these points as I really want to like this game but for now I will just be rating it as.... Meh/10

This is not the truck simulator that you seek.

This is a truck driving game. That's it. Your basically a delivery driver doing jobs for business owners to help them build up there businesses. They speak to you through text. Who cares. Anyway, the driving really isn't all that impressive. There is no physics to the trucks or any vehicles in the game. You can speed at 100km/h, slam

Anyway, the driving really isn't all that impressive. There is no physics to the trucks or any vehicles in the game. You can speed at 100km/h, slam the handbrake and take a turn at 60km/h while with a trailer and nothing bad will happen. No skid marks, you won't flip or take the turn on two wheels.

If you crash into things, your vehicle will take damage shown as a health bar. You can fix, customise and buy trucks at the only garage at the bottom of the map. Very inconvenient. You'll have to refuel at petrol stations and sleep at designated areas.

When completing a mission you'll be rewarded with XP and money. XP allows you to unlock little boosts that improve the overall experience like earning more XP or money or just less fuel.

Gameplay is like GTA V when following the road rules. There are no real consequences for speeding, crashing, driving on the curb or cutting off other drivers. There are 'speed cameras' but when you're earning 1000+ money for a job and paying 250 - 400 money for a ticket, who cares, right?

This is just a very straight forward driving game with mundane missions to pass the time.

For a driving game, it's fun. It's fun overtaking vehicles at 100km/h and slamming on the brakes. It's fun driving into town at 80km/h on the wrong side of the road. As a simulator - forget it. The game performs well. You have graphics options to favour resolution or graphics.

I don't know what this game is supposed to be but...yeah? This game will get boring

I was really excited to finally get a truck simulator on console, and by all merits this does what you would look for in a game like this. The driving physics feel realistic and responsive and it can be very relaxing to drive from point A to point B. The graphics are passable. At its best, they do look great as you drive over hills, by beaches and through towns. However I have ran into my fair share of graphical glitches with textures stretching across the roads during my first couple of minutes of playing. The frame rate of the video on your side mirrors is very low as well, making them look terrible. So you just drive in the dark. The gameplay can be fun, but the AI isn’t very smart, oftentimes causing backups at 3-way intersections as they just sit there unable to move to make a turn. It’s difficult to read the symbols on the navigation because they’re so small too. Because the speed limit signs are so small I have no idea how fast I’m supposed to be going, so I go over the speed limit.

The map itself is actually pretty small. So unlike Euro Truck Simulator’s two-hour expansive drives, at most your trips may only be a few minutes in this game. It really feels like a very simplified version of the Euro and American Truck Simulator games.

Overall it’s great to have a truck sim finally on console but it is severely lacking. Especially with it’s soon to be competition with it coming to steam. It’s far from being worth the 10/10s it’s getting.

I walked off this game with the impression that Truck Driver is the game you’d try to see if you’d enjoy a game like ETS2. Like putting your tiptoes into a pool to see if you can handle the water’s temperature.
It is more accessible and easier. Jobs don’t get as boring with much shorter journeys and the different stories give the campaign some extra spice to make the experience richer for

That would make the game recommendable for those willing to get into simulators but, then, there’s the issue of the bugs. There are a million different ones so, even though the game has gotten patched quite often since the game released, Truck Driver, in my opinion, is still not in a “recommendable” state.
