A power and a force that you’ve never seen before
Treasure Rangers is a 4 hour long 3d puzzle platformer where you play as these 4 kids that set out to save their neighborhood from these ogerdwarf miners after discovereing they obtain powers once they go underground… these powers based off of their interests, like collecting rocks, nature, playing the guitar, and jumping really high in your light up sketchers. Th game takes place acoss 4 worlds with 4 levels each, and sadly nothing is done to keep these worlds or levels interesting…
You tsrat off with one ranger.. lucy… her abilities are lifting rocks, pushing rocks, and turning other rangers into stones… and as the game progresses you unlock the other rangers which does add more layers to the puzzles, but this game ultimately just becomes take one ranger, advance until you cant anymore, and do the same with the others until you eventually get to the end.. this is a fine hook, but the gameplay in between isn’t so fine… the platforming is stiff, the combat is just jumping on heads, and overall the traversal of these levels is uninteresting, unfun, and never does anything new, making this 4 hours feel closer to 6 or 8, its chorse to get through… there are optional collectables but they don’t do anything other than unlock trophies.. which is fine.. but the 100 blue gems in particular are wht annoy me the most about this game.. they act like rings in a sonic game.. there are 100 in each level and in combat, they act as your health.. however if youre hit you lose all of them.. no matter how many you have.. not a couple.. literally all of them which kills your incentive to want to collect them.. they go from collectables to individual lives that once lost, cant be recollected.. so I started using them as individual hits I could take in the moments you have to take down this bigger ogre or take down a boss, which again just kills my urge to collect all 100 in each level.. especially when I risk dying and having no gems to fall back on, as dying restarts a level completely, aside from during boss battles… the boss battles by the way are a joke, theyre laughably easy and are littered with gems that I again used as individual lives because the collection idea is so backwards here…
All in all Treasure Rangers is a highly mediocre game, not worth your time
I give Treasure Rangers a 4.5/10… Expand
