Great high score based game! Plenty of fun and interesting levels. The online multiplayer isn't very acive anymore but I can't consider it a fault of the game.

Trackmania Turbo is an accessible, yet rock-hard barrier of difficulty that will push your patience to it’s limits, if you allow it. Apart from some incredibly hard and frustrating parts in the later tracks, Trackmania Turbo is an amazing arcade racer with meaty single player, many options in multiplayer, and a fleshed out track maker mode that will have you hooked for hours.

First and foremost, Turbo looks great, with crisp visuals, and a rock solid 60 frames per second. This is good, considering that precision is often required to get a fast time on some tracks. The soundtrack is also varied and nice to listen to, although I do have a small gripe with it. Whenever I’m playing a track, it seems to play a lot more songs than others, making me sick of specific music tracks. Luckily, you’re able to pick which songs you want in or out in the options.

Trackmania Turbo lives or dies by it’s gameplay, and it does very well. Driving feels great and responsive, and most failures felt like it was my fault. There are a staggering 200 tracks to drive through and master, creating dozens of hours of fun to just complete. That doesn’t account for the dozens of hours spent mastering each track for their highest medal. However, some of the most difficult tracks can be very frustrating to beat, with occasionally questionable physics and unfairly precise sections while as slippery as a fish. However, the majority of the hard tracks are well-designed and fun to play, and the drive to get the satisfaction of a gold medal kept me moving forward.

If you thought that the solo campaign wasn’t enough, then there’s also a track maker to use, online and local multiplayer, and harder solo challenges if you beat the author’s time on every track in the game! This generous amount of content ensures that you won’t get bored until you’ve sunken hours and hours into the game.

Trackmania Turbo is a content-rich, good-looking, and challenging racer, with some frustration near the end. However, the drive to get a faster time and the personal satisfaction that comes from it kept me from getting deterred. If you are looking for an ultra-hard platinum trophy, or a fun time-attacking racer, then look no further.

To me, this is a trance game - you blank out and just go with it. And that's good. If you like time trials, if you enjoy improving your times, finding the perfect line, you probably already know the Trackmania series. I never play on computers, so this is my first experience with Trackmania. As the competitive players say of it, "find your line and commit to it." Very much like the Wipeout series or F-Zero, in terms of speed and track design - the sense of speed is jaw dropping.

The design, incorporating Japanese and Western ideas (gigantic floating pink sprinkle donuts, blimps with Kanji on them) is amazing. The detail rendered at this speed and frame rate is basically perfect. It's gorgeous.

The physics are unique, I'm assuming this is a Trackmania feature. Nothing handles real-world; these are surfaces and vehicles from another planet. And all of the 200 levels present hazards only many attempts will finally overcome. You think the rocks are just throwing themselves at you, until you realize you've just not memorized the track and found your line yet.

Not interested in track building and have no idea if online is still available, but I don't care. The 200 time trials, which start out hard enough and slowly become brutal, is all I need. And when you get your first Trackmaster medal, which means you beat the developer's best time, and that medal's green and comes after the gold medal, it's just awesome. The competitive players go for Super Trackmaster, basically trying to get world #1 times and keeping them.

Oh finally, this game is all about having a light touch. You can't wham your analog stick to make a turn. It's great at teaching you a light hand on the controller and learning how to play a game elegantly. I don't say this lightly - but with the light touch, muscle memory and plain fun of it, Trackmania Turbo can't be recommended too highly.

This is, by far, one of the most addicting AND frustrating games I have ever played.
And, fortunately, it can also be quite fun.

    I got this game because:
    a. It was recommended by other users in their reviews for other racing games.
    b. It offers track-building.
    c. It offers racing in VR.

    Positives:
    - * The variability of the track lay-outs is highly diverse, which means game-play can stay fresh for as long as you enjoy how it operates; Having access to thousands of user-created maps is a major plus.
    - Trackbuilder - This is particularly appealing to creative types like myself, and probably the biggest plus of the game to me (though I wish the Lagoon maps let me fit more on them because I'd fill it to the brim with twisting, interwoven magnetic tracks if they let me). There's a wide range of styles of game-play you could apply to racing on custom maps; Watch a video (perhaps on YouTube) of a "full throttle" style custom level and you can get a pretty good idea of the scale of ideas you can work with.
    - The visuals can be quite pleasing.
    - ** "Easy to pick up, hard to master." - Simple control scheme and split-screen multiplayer can make this a great game to try with friends.
    - *** Having a quick restart button generally makes the shorter tracks a breeze.

    Negatives:
    - * There aren't enough filters while searching for user-created maps to actually pinpoint a specific person or map. I don't know why they couldn't include that.
    - ** The controls, though functional and easy to pick up, lack certain nuances with no manual boost or aerial vehicle manipulation (in most modes) and no vehicle performance modifications.
    - *** It was WAY too easy for a minor hiccup (including hitting barely visible pebbles) to send you way off track or upside down, typically requiring you to restart a whole level, as checkpoints are frequently not well-placed in campaign mode. I have to note that this is really a significant issue: While doing track 143, I raced through the entire track more times than I can keep track of to the point of mind-numbing repetition, and I've only made it past the final jump once because it's impossible to finish the race by reverting to last checkpoint once you pass it. WHY!? Why do I have to keep retrying this one race I already have dedicated to memory? That's not good design... I know it's not because I can make better levels. It's just a poorly placed checkpoint, and it's not the only one.
Not only did it take me 50+ tries to get silver (the requirement for progressing), but I immediately got silver in the next race on the first try. That's a really bad difficulty curve.
    - Controlling your vehicle's traction feels particularly delayed in sand, which I'm sure was intentional, but the process of adjusting is notably more frustrating than fun.
    - The announcer gets unbearable when you're playing a tricky level; He'll comment every single time you hit something, including saying stuff like "watch the paint job!"; EXCUSE ME FOR TRYING TO HAVE FUN. Why are you making the main character race in someone else's car anyways? Is he an inmate and you're strapping him to a vehicle and making him race for his freedom? What's the story here? Why not just make the announcer the main character so I don't have to deal with him complaining anymore? 1/10, would not be friends with the guy. (Yeah, you can shut it off.)
    - The main reason I bought this is that I was hoping to experience Trackbuilder with VR; It turns out the VR experience is severely limited. You can only play specific tracks, which there are a few of, but I couldn't get the camera to switch to first-person; It seemed to hover over the track instead of the car, which completely killed off the point of seeking further immersion in VR. Overall, this could've been the greatest racing game for VR out right now, which is why I'm particularly disappointed with this aspect.

I am not qualified to comment on multi-player right now.
Overall, not my favorite racing game at it's core, but probably the most worthwhile experience in a racing game for your money, and for sure worth familiarizing with if you are a fan of racing games in general, particularly arcade-style.

This game is so frustrating... but very addictive. Driving feels so good and learning the tracks to get the best time it's very challenging.
Split-screen and the VR section are simply awesome! Very enjoyable.
Music is good, graphics are good and it's a good experience overall but if you are looking to get the platinum trophy, like me, prepare to suffer.

The long running arcade racing series finally comes to PlayStation (and Xbox) featuring the fast paced action and crazy tracks that has attracted a great deal of fans on PC.

Unusually for an arcade racer the focus of Trackmania Turbo is almost entirely on ‘time attack’ rather than directly racing against opponents. In terms of single player options there is a lengthy campaign that requires players to beat set times in order to earn bronze, silver and gold medals that unlock subsequent tracks. There is plenty of variety to the tracks, and each track is thankfully pretty short, but I personally found the whole process started to become very repetitive before I’d even reached the halfway point. The strict requirements needed to unlock each new level only make matters worse as you’ll be required to repeat previously completed tracks numerous time to achieve the silver and gold medals required to progress past a certain point.

Multiplayer is available in both offline (split-screen and co-op) and online varieties although, with the complex nature of the tracks and so much going, it is actually quite difficult to see the track clearly in splitscreen. Online racing is thankfullly much better and it is very easy to join a lobby of up to about 30 players and compete for best times or just challenge some friends.

Of course, at the end of the day, the most important factor is the actual gameplay. I did have an issue with a few tracks that force a first person view during certain sections, as judging the position of my car correctly at speed was very tricky, but overall Trackmania Turbo is very good fun to play once you get a handle on the controls and there is very little like it avaliable on current consoles. It may not quite be up their with the very best arcade racers but it’s well worth giving a go.

Everything about this game is done really well, except the most important thing: They butchered the controls and there are NO SETTINGS to adjust them. Meaning that most of the cars are very sensitive and even on easy tracks almost impossible to drive. The only way to even get around the tracks is to use the digital arrow cross for controls. Which is a joke in 2018

Trackmania Turbo is a pure adrenaline rush, complete with a hundred levels for you to conquer preset times to earn medals. While I wish there was a flat out racing mode for multiplayer, the time trial based gameplay is different and the community made maps help keep the game fresh. The game looks great and runs a smooth 60fps.

Giving this game a 7 instead of an 8 just because of the silly way you need to enter codes to unlock the options for multiplayer racing, it's pointless just give us a menu of options on and off like Rocket League does.

My primary purpose in buying this game is split screen multi-player with my family. This is one of the few racing games with split screen. The genre has gone bananas with multi-player racing when the best competition is sitting next to you on the couch. Not only does Trackmania Turbo have up to 4 player split screen, it also doesn't sully races with an armada a.i. driven cars. The race is about you and your family and friends!

The racing in Trackmania Turbo is no frills. There are no powerups or weapons to use against other cars. The novelty is all in the make-up of the tracks. Keep in mind this is a bargain title, debuting at $40 and can likely found for less. (I bought it for $30 from the PlayStation Store). This game does not try to compete with the visuals of Gran Turismo or the style of Mario Kart. Most tracks are actually pretty short, with the challenge more in staying on the track than beating your opponent. It plays somewhat like Trials: Fusion in that respect.

The real gem of this game is the ability to make your own tracks. My son took to track building immediately. Within an hour, he figured out how to fake out players with jumps to their doom. My only complaint is that not all of the tools are available at the start of the game, and track pieces need to be unlocked through play. Tracks can be shared, however, and tracks from the community are already endless.

One point down because of my feeling of unfinished local multiplayer mods. Hot seat works fine, but splitscreen end race immediately after first player finish race and second player cant even race to finish. Another thing in local multiplayer is lack of some list of tracks to play. You select just one track and that's it. When you want to play another one you must leave current game session and select track again, and again, and again. Hope they will release some patch for this or something.

9/10 fast, funny, and in advanced levels, really challenges your driving precision.

Trackmania Turbo is like a Scalextric set for your console. As an arcade racer, it 's possibly the most fun you can have with the laws of physics. Some may be put off by the lack of a more competitive race mode, but for the majority, this colourful, simple and above all, addictive game is one of the most enjoyable racers to hit consoles in quite some time.
