    This game takes the MH formula, sharpens it, and simplifies it (a good thing).

    It's similar to MH in many ways yet differs in many others. Here are my favorite features: - Map Gathering: No more needing a specific item to gather some specific resource node(e.g.Like MH --> Bug nets for bugs, Pickaxe for Ores, etc...) This game takes that out of the MH formula and just lets your gather    This game takes the MH formula, sharpens it, and simplifies it (a good thing).

    It's similar to MH in many ways yet differs in many others. Here are my favorite features:

    - Map Gathering: No more needing a specific item to gather some specific resource node(e.g.Like MH --> Bug nets for bugs, Pickaxe for Ores, etc...) This game takes that out of the MH formula and just lets your gather items when you see them. Personally I love it.

    - A complete Encyclopedia in-game: need to know where to get a map item or monster part? If you've found it already it will be here, 2 buttons away, no more constant Googling. It also includes monster weaknesses.

    - NPC Quests: Nice minor feature that makes you work your way up for certain rewards and companion affection (helps with Pool stat buffs)

    - Quicker missions: Not a big deal but when you spend 400 hours then every minute count, this makes farming quests much easier.

    - Secondary Party: If you're farming for a specific item but don't want to get stuck killing the same monster over and over, you can progress to the next chapter and send your NPCs to farm the previous chapters' for materials! Really speeds things up.

    - Tenko Help: Similar to MH's Nyah cats, your tenko can be sent on missions for items, with the added benefit that if you go on a mission on the same map you will help your Tenko gather more mats and he (she?) will help you during the battle!

    - Mitama System: a very flexible gameplay system that sits on top of your weapon-fighting style. The combinations of fighting styles with weapons are huge and easy to understand / pick up.

    - Weapon + Mitama Forging: another layer of end-game gameplay that's beyond the various weapon trees. Think of them as uber-weapons that are worth the investment.

    There's more to add here, but I'll just end by answering that question you've been asking yourself: Will this scratch that itch of playing a MH game on your PS4?

    This game is not a monster hunter copy. To be honest, yes, is the same gendre, like killzone and call of duty, fifa and pes.... But its different. You dont have to collect as many items as MH, and the combat has more action, so you can focus on play instead on collecting herbs, honey, bug shells, ... Etc. I really enjoy playing this game, and I hope it becomes a yearly launch. The weakThis game is not a monster hunter copy.     It's the only PS4 hunter game out, and very hard to put down! Although it does suffer from being too easy. 10/10 for me personally. I'm happy that something like this has found its way to the PS4, but this genre isn't for everyone. I believe for the average gamer Toukiden would probably deserve a 7/10.

    The graphics are mediocre, whilst the game play - very addicting. Overall the game    It's the only PS4 hunter game out, and very hard to put down! Although it does suffer from being too easy. 10/10 for me personally. I'm happy that something like this has found its way to the PS4, but this genre isn't for everyone. I believe for the average gamer Toukiden would probably deserve a 7/10.

    The graphics are mediocre, whilst the game play - very addicting. Overall the game has a charm to it that can keep you hooked. Japanese voiced with English subs, this aids the mediocre storyline as they are voiced very well in their native language.

    Compared to Monster Hunter, Toukiden holds its own very well. Monster Hunter offers much more interesting combat though. MH is still king of the Hunter games, but if you lack the console to play the Monster Hunter series, Toukiden is a fantastic alternative. As for the future, if the Toukiden series could ramp up the difficulty, work on making the story more engaging and create more diverse game play then they could be king.... Toukiden definitely has the potential,

    Pros:
    Mimata grinding, accessible multiplayer, crafting, decent music and decent story, with tons of missions, giving the player lots of hours in gameplay.

    Cons:
    Repetitive monsters (some of the Oni are amazing but gets too many re-skins), easy gameplay (can be a good thing or a negative depending on the person playing), grindy (again - perspective), better alternative out there with MH if you have the right console.    … Expand

    A large game with a compelling story, likable characters and rewarding combat. This game has so much, but it doesn't have many recognizing flaws. KT has a franchise in Toukiden that gives Playstation gamers a MH-esque experience with it's own identity. Highly recommendable.

    I will start by saying it is not a bad game but i have many cons about it. The artwork is beautiful, the control are also simple (which can be a good or a bad thing).

    This game feels like a prison - you can't "explore" without triggering a quest at all. You go at counter, pick a quest, do the thing, rinse and repeat. The menus are really ugly - like something taken from the NES era.    I will start by saying it is not a bad game but i have many cons about it. The artwork is beautiful, the control are also simple (which can be a good or a bad thing).

While you can customize a bit your hero when making it, you can't for armors and weapons - colors or forms are the same for everyone.

    Okay, i will be as honest as i can: this game looks and feel totally like a mobile title. It is almost an identical clone of Ragnarok on the vita in many aspect, just a re-skin. Loads screens between each single room gets annoying, its like they don't use the ps4 hardware?

    I give it a 6 because i like the genre. If you are like me, wait; this is no MH. But a few incoming title this year are promising for the action rpg scene on the ps4. Imho, Ragnarok or Soul Sacrifice on the vita are better than this... graphically and in game-play.    … Expand

    What can i say? Average Monster Hunter spinoff. Too much button masher in my opinion but has plenty of weapon and setup variations. Nice to play with friends, rather boring "solo".

    The combat is amazing, story is decent and the soundtrack is high quality. If you want to hunt monsters with a good variety of weapons check out this game. Also it's 60fps.

    This is an awesome Monster Hunter style game with lots of content and a satisfying story about sacrifice, heroism and differences in world-views. Each character has his own story arc and carries his/her burden. Often they were not strong enough in the past or made mistakes that can not be corrected. Parts of the main story are about what sacrifices where made to save as many as possible but the other side will say abandon people which all could all be saved. The interesting part is that we will never know which side is correct. For the content: You got the main game and the add on Kiwami which added lots of improvements and content to the game (New weapons, Mitamas, characters, side quest and a new story arc). All weapons play different and you have to adapt your play style. I used mostly the twin blades (very fast attack speed), Katana (Slower but stronger) and gloves (Slow but powerful). Additionally you can equip Mitamas (Spirits of fallen Heroes, Monks, Spiritualist or Mythological beings). These are also divided in multiple roles which adapt to different play styles. The Art style of the game is great. The Oni look amazing especially the bigger ones (I would buy an artbook). I must admit that the graphic for PS4 is a bit on the weaker side (game was made for Vita). The music is still good. For the game play: You get a lot of content. Playtime is easily > 50 hours. Some say the game is a bit to easy which I mostly agree but you get an awesome gaming experience with lot of style and fun.… Expand

    In essence, it offers a bit more of everything compared to the PS Vita game from last year, but still very little to the overall Monster Hunter formula.

    Yes, it is bigger than the original Toukiden. And it doesn’t look to shabby on the PS4. But one major problem remains: The core is nothing but an uninspired Monster Hunter clone.
