Graphics don't look that bad, and every game has it's glitches. This game was made for old-school fans! all these salty haters on YouTube and on here with bad reviews are just SKATE fanboys. Hater's gonna hate. I've seen game play and played it, it's not bad.

The hate for this game makes me question if people play games to have fun or stare at every pixel they can until they find something out of place to complain about. I've moved past the the bandwagon of blind hate and purchased the game, digitally. I might have about one gripe with the game and that's the turning is much slower than it used to be, I can get over that though. The graphics are completely fine and do not ruin anything about the game. You people expected photo realistic from a TH game? Stupid skate fanboys. I love Skate as well but TH is NEVER going to be like Skate, so stop complaining. The physics are fine and the tricks are completely fine. I'm thinking that the people who rated their score low have never played a Tony Hawk game. If you loved the first Tony Hawk games then I'm more than sure you'll love this one. Tons of fun and if you have friends, then It will be that much better. I would say, don't trust any of the user reviews on here and try it for yourself. You might end up liking it. Also, I haven't cam across any glitches and have been playing for several hours. Have a good day guys. SKATE OR DIE!!! Expand

How can Tony Hawk suck? This game is the one you fell in loved back in 2000! It's really a good skating game, but all the sudden, I felt like the game lost it's touch from the original 2000, but regardless, I still fell in love with this game!

Speaking as someone who owns, and has played the game, I'm not quite sure what people expected with they bought it. It was labelled and advertised as Tony Hawk *Pro Skater 5*, a moniker the series hasn't had since at least 2001. THPS5 is and always was a throwback to the nostalgia-days of what started the franchise, and honestly, if this had been released in 2001, it would've been heraldedSpeaking as someone who owns, and has played the game, I'm not quite sure what people expected with they bought it. It was labelled and advertised as Tony Hawk *Pro Skater 5*, a moniker the series hasn't had since at least 2001. THPS5 is and always was a throwback to the nostalgia-days of what started the franchise, and honestly, if this had been released in 2001, it would've been heralded as the best in the series (possibly, 2 is still pretty great). That's not to say the mechanics are so outdated it would've been great 14 years ago, but that they're tried and tested and people really enjoyed how the Pro Skater games played as a whole. This game is simply acknowledging the interest.
The graphics aren't 'Next-gen' worthy, and are more suitable for Last-gen overall, but that doesn't take away from the experience, at least for me. The free-skate menu is straightforward, enjoyably so, and skating with 19 other people is a neat experience. Having only dabbled in the other game modes, I can say the multiplayer only makes them worthwhile, especially with friends. Modes like Big-Head mode, and Deathmatch can be a riot with others. The "Create-a-Skatepark" is fun, and simple for its uses, and having large lobbies on zany, user-created levels is something I can appreciate.
Maybe you could argue the game's content misses the mark for it's price-tag, but it is still a fun time. If you spent hours in the other Pro Skater games, you'll more than likely spend hours on this one, as I have.

Finally, if you have some money to throw around, this isn't a bad purchase. It's exactly what I expected it to be, and I am thoroughly enjoying it as a game where I can just chill, and have fun without focusing too hard. It's the kind of game you have fun playing when you want to relax and unwind.
It's not ground-breaking, it's not game of the year material, but it is NOT a bad game like other blatant reviews would have you think. Manage your expectations, and it's worth picking up. If $60 seems unreasonable to you, wait for a price-drop or rent it, but just know you'll have a good time playing it. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is not reinventing the franchise, fleshing it out, or even advancing it technically. It's just meeting the status quo of the series, not unlike an HD-remake of sorts. I'd give it a 7.5, but it'd be closer to an 8 for me since that isn't an available scoring.

Sure there are a few bugs and glitches that need to be ironed out. Assassins Creed Unity had a far worse launch. The bugs aren't so bad that it is unplayable. Overall it is a fun game and a great addition to the Tony Hawk series. I definitely recommend it! Expand

**Honest Review** Tony Hawks Pro Skater 5 is a lot of fun! The graphics are on par with the arcade style of gameplay. There are tons of unlockable customizations and plenty of challenges and missions to keep you busy. I did have some struggles with the framerate dropping and making the gameplay choppy. Hopefully that can be patched.

I am a long time THPS fan and this is a great entry in the franchise. It is not supposed to be "realistic" so dont compare it to Skate in terms of graphics or controls. It is over-the-top wild skateboarding action with crazy characters and abilities. I am currently a robot-mech dude with Octo-dad's head. And I can even play as lil wayne! Thats hilarious.

I dont like having to load in and out of freeskate mode for every challenge or mission. That and the buggy framerate are why i gave an 8/10.

This game, while definitely having it's weaknesses, is a return to the Pro Skater genre and it is not bad. The addition of MP adds replayability, the core mechanics are there, etc. Yes - it is not Skate so it is arcade-like. But that is what Pro Skater always was.

Although I don't consider myself a "fan" of any game series, I can safely say that the Tony Hawk franchise has always been one of my favorite, because when I was 7 years old, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 on the Playstation was the best game ever. I went on to play every consecutive Tony Hawk game, and loved every second of them. But, it's 2015, and it's been 13 years since THPS4.

For fans and newcomers alike, the latest installment in the Tony Hawk franchise, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, will disappoint you.

From poor framerate stability to 2005 graphics, the game itself is on the edge of failure. There are things that stand out, however, like the classic "feel" from previous games, or even the seem-less multiplayer experience. Onto the Pros and Cons of the game:

    Pros:

    - Classic Feel of the previous Tony Hawk games.

    - Seem-less Multiplayer experience, which lets you skate around in levels with other skaters from around the world.

    - The Slam feature; It can really help in situations where you know you're going too fast to hit a gap.

    - Level-Specific "Power ups"; On the level Mega Park, for example, you can run over some sort of skater icon that turns your skater into a giant. It can prove useful in some areas of said level.

    Cons:

    - Frame rate issues; The framerate tends to dip well below 30 fps when there are too many online players around or too many particle effects on the screen.

    - Unconventional control scheme; Well, first of all, none of it can be changed. Your skater can be stationary if you use the joystick down or the left trigger to brake, the latter being preferred since it is more responsive in this game. Needless to say, the brake feature is not a bad thing. What is, however, is that the character cannot go from a stand-still to a smooth and slow acceleration process. It's like playing a racing game with a keyboard, your gas pedal becomes an on/off switch. If you're caught in a situation where you need to make a small adjustment in positioning from a stand-still position, you're screwed. Your character won't go smoothly forward, it's either 0 or 50 and above.

    - Annoying level design; Especially the level Rooftops, which can get very frustrating to navigate in.

    - Graphics; Although Activision said that they have changed the art style a few months ago, it still looks like they didn't have enough time on their hands to fully polish the game.

    - Lack of Split-Screen Co-op; A big part of why so many people loved Tony Hawk games. It's not a big deal in 2015 because so many people prefer playing online, but I still feel like it should have been an option either way.

I would recommend this game only to hardcore fans of the franchise, anyone else may be severely disappointed for a 60$ game.

Tony Hawk 5 is the latest and greatest installment to an already brilliant series. This game has everything: skating, lag free 60 fps, brilliant next-gen graphics, amazing animation, fun gamemodes, and plenty more. If you are a fan of the series, and a gamer in general then you'd be crazy not to purchase this masterpiece. Hours of fun to be had, plus you get to skate as LIL WAYNE

I was excited for this game coming out. Instead what I and the community got was a bare-bones, unplayable mess. They also come after u with loading screens that the PS1 games didn't have much of. This game wasn't the fault of Robomodo for once, this was Activision trying to make money before the license agreement with Tony Hawk ended.

Most egregiously, this game costs $60. That’s about $50 too much. A better choice? Go crank Goldfinger’s “Superman,” fire up your old PlayStation or Dreamcast, dig up a copy of the original game, and relive the glory days the right way.
