If you're looking for a break from the run of the mill fast paced first person shooter this is the game for you. It combines a wide array of operators with unique abilities and weapons with tactical gameplay which rewards good positioning, gadget use and game sense. The game has plenty of unique mechanics including one-shot headshots, the lack of a jump button and incredibly destructible environments but the one that makes the game different from its competitors are the drones and cameras. It allows players that are dead to contribute by pinging enemies or making callouts. The base gameplay is well thought out and surprisingly deep. Every match can play out in millions of different ways. However this game has what I like to call an "Overwatch problem" where players are forced into playing a certain way in order to win, some operators are incredibly powerful like ash, ace, jäger or mute and others are incredibly situational or next to useless like glaz, nökk, warden or wamai. Some objective sites are very easy to defend, and others are almost impossible. Ubisoft also seems to have no idea how to use there time because despite some maps being in desperate need of a rework (Theme Park, Kanal and Skyscraper) they decide to rework outback, one if the better maps in the game. If this concept was in the hands of a more competent game studio it could be one of the best shooters of all time, but instead we have to deal with Ubisoft fumbling yet another golden opportunity.

The controls and mechanics work, allowing ample mobility, which is also quite intuitive. The story, being a game based on online multiplayer, is absent, but that's okay. The defect of all games of this genre is and remains habit. Abandoning it for a few months, or a year, could blow the player away once he takes it back. The various non-competitive modes help to a certain extent in this.
However, it remains one of the most successful and popular Tom Clancy's chapters, also for the scalability of levels and, above all, for personal skill, which remains the best way to get some satisfaction with this Ubisoft title.
The grade would be 7.5 / 10. Given the absence of a history and the advancing age, I decided to round it down.

i loved this game, its a grind to get a new character, but it is doable
It is a really fun, tactical game. but. people suck
They shoot you in the back, on your own team
They fight, scream, argue, then kick you.
Play with friends, or not at all. Get Good...

Siege is a stressful game to get into. Initially I was brought into the game because of the one shot headshot mechanic but once I reached level 100 I drifted away from that. About 33% of your time you will more than likely be dead or waiting for the drone phase to finish. In my opinion there is too much down time but there is always Call of Duty with little to no down time.

6/10 for me. Here's the thing. Without question, the game is challenging. The tactical considerations for each scenario are extensive. And, without the fun, there's not much incentive to grind through the learning curve to become proficient in the game, from where I'm standing. Graphically, it's ok...the gunplay/feel seems pretty solid while the character modeling is kind of dated...but really, that's only an issue when watching your team-mates run towards the structure while attacking. Once in perpetual crouch mode while inching stealthily around the map, this kind of thing hardly matters. Destruction, as advertised, is everything...which plays into the whole tactical complexity schtick. It seems like enemies can make holes almost everywhere, so "cover" is misleading almost all the time. You can't mark, beyond scout missions at the beginning with the little drones, so if you see something that looks like a human appendage, you'd best laden it with bullets. And if you hear definitive sounds of human mucking about just beyond a said destructable wall, let er rip in that direction as well. Sound is uber-amplified almost to the point of absurdity, in this game....obviously meant to be an important thing to pay attention to for aforementioned reasons.

Anyways, I"m sure this kind of game appeals to the rabid tactical shooter fanatics but, for me, enjoyment overall is lacking, squelched by the crushing emphasis on all things tactical.

    Anyways

Gameplay/Multiplayer: To get the other 2 modes over with: "Situations" is throwaway, and "Terrorist Hunt" (co-op mode) could be better if it didn't recycle MP maps, have stupid AI, and DIDN'T run on 30fps. Anyways, the real meat of the game is in its MP component where it's 5 v 5 on several maps with no respawns, and with 1 team pitched to defend a certain objective while another team attacks. And while the MP had so much potential to be a strong e-sports game, the MP disappoints with some balance issues and horribly casual-ized shooting. With the game, their mode design is based on classic e-sports modes (5 v 5, no respawns, etc.) with attack/defend modes. With each side, you'll be treated to a healthy amount of "operators" - characters with special gadgets from 5 elite CTUs (US, UK, RU, GER, and FR) and most of them are fun to use, have quality weapons/gadgets, and some are balanced well - keyword is some. Unfortunately, some Operators - like "IQ," "Tachanka," or "Pulse" are underpowered when compared to their peers; some - like "Thermite" or "Mute" - are almost essential if you want to succeed on either side; and the 3 Riot Shield Operators on the Attacking side are incredibly annoying to deal with and disrupt the flow of the game. 99% of your engagements will be in close-quarter hallways, so having a shield come in and harass you with pistol rounds is annoying even if they only hipfire. It also doesn't help that, for a "tactical" shooter, there's 1-hit kill melee. Way to give more power to the shields. When it comes to modes, there's only 3 (you decide whether that's good or bad): one acting as Search and Destroy from CoD, one where you must either rescue or defend a hostage, or one where you must either defend or secure a specific room full of chemical weapons; each one plays out almost identically. At the beginning of every round in a game, a "Preparation Phase" begins where for about 45 seconds, the defending team gets to set-up and fortify the room containing the objective and the attacking team uses small drones to locate the objective and identify enemies. This phase is great as it allows for planning to occur before the "Action Phase" even begins since the attackers have to work together to find the objective and identify what kind of Operators they're up against while the defenders have decide which walls to reinforce, which doors to barricade, etc. Even after the Preparation Phase ends, the first minute of the round is also tense since attackers have to be cautious about entering the building and watch for cameras and other gadgets getting in their way while defenders have to be on the alert for where the enemy is engaging from using sound, cameras, or other means to locate the attackers. Everything is all well and good....until the **** hits the fan and the guns start shooting. The biggest sin this game can ever accomplish with being a serious and "tactical" shooter is having some of the EASIEST recoil in any FPS. You could also lower the recoil further by putting certain attachments on a gun. When you get into a gunfight with someone - especially if they're a defender and have chosen a good spot to camp (not using the term negatively here) in, the game turns into CoD with how easy the recoil is the maintain and usually, whoever has the better camping spot will win most of the time. Part of this reason is the 1-shot headshot rule which DOESN'T belong in this game due to the casual shooting. Most of the time I die from a headshot is because the guy sprayed me down and got a lucky hit instead of having to be a skilled shooter and compensate for any recoil. This leads to continued frustration after experiencing several insta-deaths since those shooters hardly earned their headshot kill. The game also suffers from repetition because of its lack of variety in modes. In the end, I'd like the MP more, but repetition, balance issues, and casual recoil pretty much tainted my experience. 5/10

Graphics: While not photo-realistic, the visuals are still good with texture quality and models. Besides the overly obnoxious lighting when peeking in or out of windows, the visuals are fine. 7/10

Sound: The game's strongest quality. Everything from footsteps, the gunshots, to explosions all sound incredible. Only thing missing is a score. 9/10

Verdict: R6:S could have been the next big FPS with its excellent sound and tactical planning element - but it stumbles due to casual shooting, wasted game modes, and several other flaws already covered. For a recommendation: rent or pick it up at a price drop on the PC - especially if you want a 60fps+ experience on ALL game modes.

I can't praise enough about the gameplay. The emphasis on tactics and teamwork makes for a very tense and exciting shooter. If I could just play the game like I wanted this would be an 8 or 9 out of 10 straight away. Unfortunately, Ubisoft is pretty good at stopping that.

The different operators are pretty well balanced. Everyone has their own niche and can be useful in their own right. One can shoot clusters of bombs into a particular room through a breakable surface, and another can set up additional cameras to spot enemies from. There are a decent amount of operators in the base game, however a significant amount are locked behind season passes. Yes, plural. It's not the most gregarious example in gaming, but after being spoiled by the likes of overwatch, it's hard not to raise an eyebrow.

A major issue however, is the servers. It's not infrequent to be kicked from squads, games and experience large spikes in lag during gameplay. For a game in which a fraction of a second can mean the difference been victory and defeat, it's a very concerning issue.

Another problem is the players. If you don't go in with a squad full of friends, you're very likely to find yourself on the receiving end of a painful situation. Team killing is extremely frequent, and more often than not completely on purpose. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be very heavily punished other than a slight docking of points. It's not unusual to find the defending team a man down before the attackers have moved an inch.

Speaking of which, quitting is also very frequent. The matchmaking doesn't always find replacements, often meaning you'll find yourself in a match where you are missing teammates and at a significant disadvantage. Even just one missing teammate can make a match impossible to win. Terrorist hunt is almost unplayable for this reason, as by the one minute mark you'll frequently find yourself with only two players on your team. That's ignoring the pretty severe issues this game has with AI.

Finally, bugs plague this game, even to this date. In my short time playing, I found numerous glitches such as your gun turning invisible, or getting stuck at 0 bullets in your clip and being unable to reload or do anything but move despite having ammo.

In summary, Rainbow Six Siege is a very good game. Unfortunately, it seems Ubisoft royally screwed the pooch on this one and packaged it very incompetently.

It is very disappointing though it has some unnecessary flaws, without a singleplayer campaign it feels it is lacking a lot of contents and Ubisoft had been lazy.. I played Rainbow Six Raven Shield back then it had an awesome campaign each mission had detailed background and briefings, even 12 years ago had AI teamates to play with you singleplayer. The most IMPORTANT issue is that the Terrorist Hunt mode (which I only cares about as I don't enjoy multiplayer) drops to 30 Frames per second on PS4. I expected a 60 Frame smooth movement as advertised, I wonder why they couldn't make it into 60frames in such a small map.. Even Battlefield could handle 60 frames in 64 player matches. Apart from this me and my mate had problem choosing maps, we thought we can't choose maps in matchmaking. There is actually a hidden setting in options you could turn off what maps you don't want to play, they should have made it more obvious..
Overall I really love this style of game, in recent years FPS had been all about sci-fi and I am glad to see a realistic shooter back out here, great game with lots of potential.

The lack of a singleplayer hurts this game, seeing as all other R6 games had decent ones.

Multiplayer: The main focus is multiplayer.
You can play 4 modes, of these are 2 completly useless. The only viables are CASUAL and RANKED. Multiplayer plays smooth, although litered with DDOSers (Console) and Hackers (PC).

Gameplay: No match is the same in R6S. Although that statement is true, it gets boring after awhile through the sheer toxicity and seriousness of games, even in CASUAL. Most of the time you get enemies which think they will be the next pro players, making this game not really fun. Toxic teammates, that kill you for every little thing dont help. You will get burned out fast.

Bugs and gliches take long to be fixed, mostly 3 months, some even returning after they got "patched" Also the devs seem to only listen to the pro players, not the playerbase.
