Ubi says they listen to their fans but while they seem to take one step forward in one aspect, they take several steps back in others. No one asked for many of the things they introduced in GRB and in some cases, the community had even made jokes about it in the past (e.g. "drone wars").

While GRW wasn't perfect, my friends and I loved it and we also liked their vision. However, I didn't like where they started taking that title with the release of GW, leveling weapons in Tier One or with their fantasy themed DLC. The writing was on the wall at that point that they had no intention of sticking with their original direction for GRW but at least we still had the core campaign that was unspoiled by GW or the other content if you didn't wish to play that.

Read the reviews. Even many of the folks who say they like the game admit they don't like where they took the franchise with GRB. It's always a bit of a compromise with these games but this time there was nowhere near enough there for me to justify putting up with all the things I hate about it.

Let's just be honest, even if there was no microtransactions, the game is still a lazy mash up of everything that Ubisoft ASSUMES that players will like, big open world, fancy background story, stealth, shooty looty, it all worked just okay in the first 2 hours and then, boom, it all fell apart. Every 2 damn minutes you get some new gears with higher gear scores and eventually you get numb and tired and don't wanna loot a single crate anymore; the RPG element has absolutely no significance unless you really wanna piss off those metal gear rip-off robots; the story describe the enemy soldiers as " former spec ops", well "former spec ops" my a$$, this is the most stupid AI enemy I have ever experienced in recent years, any enemy soldier from Splintercell Chaos Theory can easily kick their asses, and their stupidity has nothing to do with the difficulty settings, I played on the highest difficulty and they were still stupid in most occasions, the only difference is the damage of each bullets they fire at you, and you have to know that being defeated by dumb but deadly enemy is not fun at all.
This game wasted my time, money and my hope in Ubisoft creating a decent fun game, I hope Ubisoft never recover from the backlash that this game has caused.

There are no more microtransactions in this game than any other game I have played that incorporates microtransactions. They are a non-issue. The game is just a LOT of fun to play. Yes there are glitches and bugs, and some are very hard to understand how they made it through QA. However, they are far from game-breaking, and again, this game is a BLAST to play.

There are other issues with fundamental mechanics, such as the incorporation of gear score - i, for one, live for leveling and gear score and such, but it just doesn't have a prominent enough purpose in this game. But game-breaking?! No. I only wish they'd gone further with it.

Play the game yourselves before giving it negative reviews, people. I will continue to support Ubisoft and their devs, because they make games that are fun, and obviously put a lot of love into them.

The only good thing about this game for me was the quantity of equipment, gear, camo and weapon mods. The whole point is that your gearing up and collecting intel to go after the main bad guy, who you can go after at any point and is such an anticlimax. A badly made game not worth time or money. Breakpoint makes me wish this was Wildlands 2. The world of Auroa is unoriginal and bland, and it's empty 63% of the time. Speaking of the enemy AI, it's stupid beyond belief. They tend to react to nothing, and it's easy to wipe out a full base without serious consequences. Squads are half-assed, the story is hot garbage, and one I can't get invested in. Characters you can't connect with, god-awful voice acting, and after completing a mission, you feel you never made a difference. Unlike in Wildlands, where completing a missing gets you one step closer to defeating the boss of that certain region. Cutscenes are terrible to look at, they all look like plastic when they speak. However, the gameplay is nice, gunplay feels quite fluid, and some animations look nice. Not all though. Graphics are better, and they've added survival mechanics, but it's whether you like it or not. I don't. So, I disabled it. And it's important to mention that none of the regular immersive features existed at launch.

The game has adapted some sort of hub area to hang out in, which strays from a normal Ghost Recon game. You can still find guns around the map, but you can also buy them from the shop of Erewhon, they hub area. Ther's even, you know. MICROtransactions. The game uses this currency system called Skel Credits that you can find around the world. If you don't want to traverse the incredibly boring, bland, unoriginal, stupidly narrow "open" world, you can always buy the guns from the shop. Skel Credits are also used to buy certain clothing items, refill your items gear, and buy vehicle skins. But please, REFRAIN from buying ANY vehicle skin in the game. The only vehicles you'll be using is either helicopters, dirt bikes, or fast travel. Because the world is so narrow, attempting to drive any other car than the ones I listed up there is hellishly tough. There's nothing to see or do in Auroa anyway, and all the best landmarks in the game are not interactable. Missions don't add any incentive to complete them, unlike Wildlands, when you took down a cartel boss you'd get a crap-ton of skill points or even a unique weapon you couldn't find anywhere else.

At launch, you didn't have a Ghost team, which turned of a lot of people from playing the game. Later, they did add a squad, and the end result is pretty bad. See, in Wildlands, your squad was calm, cool, and collected. They'd banter which each other for a few seconds, whether you entered a new province or after a briefing from Bowman. In Breakpoint. your squad of characters are forgettable. They never talk with you. NEVER. Not one conversation can be struck up with them, and I only use them as help for clearing bases, whereas in Wildlands, I kept my squad active to dress them up in serious or sometimes silly outfits, and just have them walk around with me in the beautiful world of Bolivia. The only time your squad in Breakpoint ever talks is either when they complement you on getting a headshot, marking an enemy, or using their abilities. I don't change their outfits much, and usually only change the weapons they carry.

Like said before, the world of Auroa is horrendous to look at and explore. Second worst map since Pokémon: Scarlet and Violet's world. I'm not incentivized to explore, find guns, gear, clothing, skill points, or even enemy bases, something I did a lot in Wildlands. Civilians exist, but they always ask, "What are you doing here?" or "Please don't hurt me!" Then I shoot them for fun. The civilians don't drive, ever, and you tend to wonder why they even bothered adding regular cars in the world, half of which you can't even drive. You can't holster your weapon like Wildlands. It's LITERALLY the definition of one of the "worst open world games ever".

Story is ass. I would review for you, but I haven't completed it yet, and probably never will. But so far, characters are horribly designed, voice acting is -10/10, and character development is just non-existent. Enemy variety is the same as Wildlands, though, as you can guess by now, Wildlands had better enemy variety. First is Sentinel. Much like the cartel, Sentinel are the main enemies you fight throughout the game. Their AI is stupid, but they banter with one another, a lot more I can say for my own damn squad. They don't have many tools to their disposal, and you can stealth a whole base of Sentinel enemies and not get caught. If you do get caught, there aren't any consequences. The next is Wolves, and much similar to Unidad in Wildlands, they are the greater threat. But the Wolves are as easy to defeat as Sentinel. They LITERALLY offer no new challenge. They have more drones, but that's about it. Yeah, I hated going up against the Unidad in Wildlands, and sometimes tried avoiding missions that included them, but at least they differentiated from the cartel.

Breakpoint is just bad. Simple as that.

So overall it has lots of potential if Ubisoft can be innovative enough to expand the gameplay a little so if you want my thoughts on how it plays just think Destiny/Wildlands/ with a little Division influence I think Ubisoft should have waited until next year to fix some minor bugs but I see the game as a potential to be a Destiny like game if Ubisoft would take the time and market it like that for long term development and get rid of the microtransactions that affect the PVP. Ghost Recon Breakpoint offers a vast universe, where the survival aspects have been strengthened from GR Widlands. If the game suffers from a perfectible AI and a clear feeling of "déjà-vu", it doesn’t take anything away from its effectiveness. It works well, especially in coop, while the PVP is viciously nervous. An imperfect title, but with great moments, and a huge potential if handled with care by Ubisoft in the coming months.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is coincidentally living up to its name, being a failure and potential gravedigger for the famous franchise. Riddled with Pay-to-Win microtransactions tacked on looter shooter gameplay and pretty under average storytelling, even Jon Berenthal wasn’t enough to arise this gameplay up to some decent playable heights.

At its best, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a taut and tactical shooter that works brilliantly in co-op and is genuinely enjoyable to play but at its heart this is just another sandbox shooter and one that doesn't meet the technical standards we're used to from Ubisoft.
